Where to start for becoming a Forms&Reports developer????

Hello
I am new to Oracle and just finished tutorial that comes with db 10g xe.
I want to become a forms&reports&design developer but I don't know where to start as in Oracle website there are so many tools,etc.
Please any of you help me to put me in starting point otherwise it will be time consuming not knowing where to start.
one of the guy made a comment saying:
Oracle Forms and Reports is a bit 'old' now, and Oracle seems to be moving more towards web development with Application Express (APEX) (This comes with Oracle XE as standard). There is web development done in Forms and Reports but it looks like Oracle are moving away from these in favour of APEX.
Do you think it 's worth to pursue with oracle forms,report??
I don't want to learn something that is or soon will be out off market or absolete.
But even with APEX which tool should i start to learn \ use to become forms&reports,design developer??
Which is the best way to pursue in development sense for forms,...??
Please help me to find my starting point for that secific developement.

"Oracle Developer Suite 10g for Linux (Including Forms & Reports)"
These are the File's i have Downloaded:
as_linux_x86_ids_101202_disk1.cpio
as_linux_x86_ids_101202_disk2.cpio
so in the Oracle Documentation Site they have given Guide as Follows:
$cpio -idmv < as_linux_x86_ids_101202_disk1.cpio

after that what should i do ...

Need practice material for Oracle Apps forms, reports and workflow

Hi,
I want to design new form using Forms Developer 6i/Template.fmb, report using reports developer 9i and new Workflow using WF builder by changing the subscription of the currently defined event in Oracle or totally creating new event and its subscriptions. I want to do all the above from scratch and upto Oracle Apps standards. I have vision instance here.
Can I get practicing/training material any where in web to download like tutorial or practice lessons. I heard Oracle training centres material is very good for learning. Can I get it or any other material for the above practice.

Can on one domain coexist managed servers for ADF11g and Forms&Reports 11g

Is it possible on one Weblogic Domain to exist both Managed server for ADF 11g and Managed servers for Forms 11g and Reports 11g?
How to install on one Weblogic server these two things? Is it possible and what is recommended in this case?

Yes, i think it is possible. In my case I have one Weblogic Server Domain with 3 Managed Server,one for deploy application and the others are the Forms & Reports 11g.
For that you have to install Fusion Middlware 11g.
For ADF 11g i think you have to install Oracle Fusion Application.

Crystal reports for Eclipse vs Crystal reports Developer Edition

hi guys,
what is the difference between CR4E and CR Developer edition in the context of using it in a J2ee application?
As far i know the below are the differences
1.CR4E has a better JRC than the JRC that comes with the CR Developer
2. CR4E is free and CR Developer is not for free
3. CR Developer has a better UI for Report desigining whereas CR4E doesnt have . It is possible to get a trial version of CRDeveloper to design and use the JRC of CR4E to execute the report from a J2EE application
is there is something that CR developer has which CR4E doesnt have when it comes to integrating with an J2EE application

Fusion Middleware - Installing Forms & Reports Developer in separate server

I installed Forms & Reports Server (without developer tools) on one server. Now I want to install only Forms and Reports developer in another server. Can anybody tell me how to achieve this or from where I can get some reference document particularly for this task?

you could set the working directory of your formsweb.cfg entry to another path;
e.g.:
[test_config]
workingDirectory=d:\devworkspace\forms
where d:\devworkspace\forms is the directory where your fmx/plx/mmx are located
if you have also own .jar files in use, you could also put them into another directory, and access them in the formsweb.cfg via an aliasmatch:
archive=frmall.jar,../my_aliasmatch/my_jar_file1.jar,../my_aliasmatch/my_jar_file2.jar
and in the httpd.conf (OAS_HOME/Apache/Apache/conf/httpd.conf)
add a line like this:
AliasMatch ^/forms/my_aliasmatch/(..*) "d:\devworkspace\java/$1"
where d:\devworkspace\java is the directory where your jar files are located.
and restart Apache.
for productional use you can also create a different config with a different workdir and a different aliasmatch.
the reports can also be located anywhere; just set the workdir and cachedir of your testreportsserver to a location where your reports are located.

Where to look for log files & crash reports to help debug lockups?

Where would I look for possible log files or crash information that may provide clues on what the problem is?
Three or four times in the past few days my system has became unresponsive requiring a power-cycle. The little prism-colored round-cursor appears. I can drag windows about with my BlueTooth mouse (but not the trackpad) and that's about. The Function keys are not responsive. Other times the UI may becomes totally unresponsive.
A couple of weeks ago I Carbon Copy cloned my hard drive to a new 500GB Hitachi 7200 RPM ( I have 200GB free space now ). Before upgrading, I do not recall having had this problem. It usually occurs when I am running a Linux Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.2 VM under Parallels. Parallels may have nothing to do with it as that's what I do all day ( develop Linux software in a VM ).
I have a MacBook Pro 2.4Ghz, OS X 10.6.3.

This is a Mac OS X issue. I am not using Boot Camp or otherwise dual-booting. I am running Linux in a virtual machine under a Parallels Mac OS X host; in effect running Linux as an application under OS X.
Unfortunately I did not see any clues in either log file location. Thank you very much for explaining where to look. I ran Disk Utility and repaired a bunch of permissions. Perhaps I should have done this before and after making the Carbon Copy clone.

Is it better to start with DreamWeaver or Muse for website design that will include a store and shopping cart?

Muse is consumer level software aimed at hobbyists and non-coders who want quick & easy static sites without much functionality. AFAIK, you cannot make a shopping cart with Muse.
Dreamweaver is pro-level software. It is the industry standard for developing everything from mobile apps & static sites all the way up to dynamic shopping carts. There's not much you can't do with DW, providing you have the requisite coding skills.

No idea where to start for SOAP in relation to B1

Hi there,
I search a long time for usefull SAP documents related to the possibility of the B1 DI Server and web services.
At this moment I'm at the point that I am able to login at the B1iXcellerator which shows me "SAP Business One 2007 integration platform" however none of the documents below gives me some insight to test SOAP messages at the DI server or how I need to configure the DI Server etc
Documents like:
B1WS - B1 Web Services wrapper
Exposing and Hosting Web Services for SAP Business One with B1iSN
Administrator's Guide - SAP Business One
Therefore I was wondering if anyone who has already using the SOAP functionality of SAP could explain a bit the steps needed to be followed before I'm able to work with it. Or has anyone some good documentation?
(We are currently using SAP 8.8 PL 20)

Hi Marcel,
DI Server and B1i are 2 different things.
If you want to learn about DI Server:
1. You can go to the SDK Help Files and Samples showing how to call DI Server, COM interface with Interact/BatchInteract and SOAP messages.
2. You can use B1WS in order to connect to the DI Server through WebServices, instead of calling a COM interface with Interact/BatchInteract and SOAP messages you simply work with B1WS wsdl references and WebServices calls.
B1i doesn't use the DI Server to connect to B1 databases but the DI API.
You have the choice between B1iSN and B1if, if you want to develop scenarios getting called via WebServices it is recommended to use B1if.
What you need to think about is what you want to develop, what are your needs and then you will need to compare both ways of developing: DI Server or B1if.

We are upgrading from Forms and reports 6i to forms10g.
We need to insert image in forms and reports. Recompile and deploy on unix server.
So can anyone let me know the exact steps to create jar file containing images, where to place the jar file.
Corresponding folder, file and configuration changes required on windows and unix.
