Where to store non-timecode media

I am starting an animatics job and had a couple of questions. Where is the best place to store all of the media (the story board panels and voice record)? I read that non-timecode media should go in the project folder but in this case there will be a lot of media so I wasn't sure if this was the place. I will also be sending it to an Offline editor afterward. I have mostly used FCP to capture DV footage that went into the Capture Scratch folder so this is a new situation for me. I would appreciate any help.

I put all source material in a sub-folder (job name) in Capture Scratch. This will contain other sub folders for graphics, Motion project files, LiveType etc.
If it is source material, it belongs in Capture Scratch. Makes things easier to find and it's an obvious place to save to.
If you plan on sending the job to another editor, then you should use the Media Manager to copy the project and media. This will consolidate everything to one folder anyway.

  • Best place for non-timecoded media?

    I store all of my video clips on my external media drive. But what about graphics, music, stills, etc? Should I place these on my internal for storage for ongoing projects?
    Best.
    Tom

    My preference is to keep as much as possible in the same event and on the same drive. Although I can't prove it, my theory is that having files scattered across different drives and different events during the editing process contributes to the frequency of beachballs and crashes.
    But if at the end of the project, stuff is scattered, or I can't remember what and where stuff resides, FCP has some archiving tools that collect and organize files into a single location.
    Duplicate a project (the BU). Select Duplicate Project and Used Clips from the dialogue window. Create a new event (leave the render file box unchecked unless you have more storage space than you will ever need.
    Go into FCP menu>File>Organize Event Files and all the files that relate to the project being archived will be collected and put in the location you chose.

  • I have a file where I store my download music. When I click on "add music" to my ipod my music file opens, but rather than have to drag one song at a time to my ipod, how do I copy the entire file at once to my ipod. - steve

    Hi - I have a file where I store my downloaded music. When I plug in my ipod and click on "add music" my file appears. Rather than drag one song at a time, how can I download the entire list at once? - steve

    I am not doing it in ITunes, but i did down load the song from ITunes.  I loaded the song on to my Nano, but in my menu selections it doesn't show the song or the artist in any search format.  However, when i plug in my nano to my PC I see the Nano library on my PC drive listings and that song and artist are there.  I can click on the song and it will play in Windows media on my work PC.  I did notice that the format for most all the songs in my library on my Nano are MPEG - 4 audio Files.
    Thanks for your help, Mel

  • How can I change the location where itunes stores my backup?

    I don't know how to change the location were itunes stores my backup and my transfer purchases. I don't have enough memory on the hard driver where the windows is installed.Please help me!!!

    Transferred purchases usually get stored in the iTunes Media folder although if your library started life back on iTunes 8 or earlier then apps could be stored within the main iTunes library folder. This post gives an overview of how to restructure your library on a different drive. I can give specific instructions if you tell me more about your current setup.
    To change where iTunes stores iOS device backups redirect <Profile>\<AppData>\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup to a folder on another drive using NTFSLink (shell ext., might only work on XP) or Junction (cmd line tool). In essence you move the existing folder to a new location, create an empty folder where the old one used to be, then get the operating system to link the two together and silently redirect any file operation on the old location through to the new one.

    i dont want to use any credit card. where is the NONE gone?

    If it's a new account then unless you follow the instructions on this page when creating an account (the instructions won't work on existing accounts) : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2534 , then you will need to enter credit card details on it before you will be able to use the account in the stores.

    It pains me to hear about your experience with the Home Phone Connect.  This device usually works seamlessly and is a great alternative to a landline phone.  It sounds like we've done our fair share of work on your account here.  I'm going to go ahead and send you a Private Message so that we can access your account and review any open tickets for you.  I look forward to speaking with you.

  • Is it possible to use Time Capsule as my Itunes media folder? So I could store all my media out of my mac, but still can synchronise Ipad and Iphone with all those media stored on TC out of my mac.

    I want to store all my media on my Time Capsule.
    Can I use TC as the defaut folder for medias in Itunes? If so, will the synchronisation with Iphone and Ipad be possible?

    By internal, I assume you're referring to your systems (boot) drive. Is it, by chance, a partitioned dive?
    Also…although many people successfully use their systems drives as scratch disks, over time you'll have better results using a dedicated drive for your media.
    Good luck.

  • Where we store in sap r/3

    Dear sir  we can uploaded old data in sap r/3. by lsmw and bdc. but where we store.
    thanks regards
    jitendra

    Hi,
    LSMW - Helps to transfer data from legacy system to SAP either one time or periodically.
    Steps -
    1. Import data (legacy data in spreadsheet tables and/or sequential files)
    2. Convert data (from source format to target format)
    3. Import data (into the database of the SAP application)
    a. Maintain Structure relations, field mapping and conversion rules.
    b. Data from legacy system is read
    c. Based on step a, the data gets converted
    d. The converted data is imported to R/3 system based onBatch input processing or Direct Input or through IDOC Inbound processing

    Are there any dialog boxes popping up behind your Yahoo screen?
    I have intermittent problems attaching files in Yahoo mail and this is usually the reason.  I'm also using an iMac (10.7.3) and this is likely the problem.
    It is generally a Yahoo issue rather than a Mac problem.

    You can do this in iCloud calendars, actually. You just can't do it directly on the device. But, if you go to icloud.com & edit the calendar event, you can select "Custom" from the dropdown for Repeat & it will let you put in "every 4 wks on saturday" or even "every 28 days." But, again, you'd have to be using iCloud & you can only do this on the website.

    Regards
    Dev

    Translate the texts you need in german and rest keep it as it is.
    In your code pass if SET LOCALE LANGUAGE = 'EN'.
    Read the text elements
    else.
    SET LOCALE LANGUAGE = 'DE'.

    Maybe you should try defining the type of entry that
    you want stored into the KeyStore, i.e. privateKey,
    SecretKey, TrustedCertificateEntry. The setKeyEntry
    method that you're using expects a certificate chain
    to accompany the Key if it is used as a private key.
    If you don't want to use the key as one of the
    available types, perhaps you need to use the
    CertStore object as opposed to the KeyStore object.Hi,
    I've got the same exception althought I specified the type of entry. Here is my test code :
    public void createKeyStore() {
         try {
              KeyGenerator keyGen = KeyGenerator.getInstance("DES");
              SecureRandom random = SecureRandom.getInstance("SHA1PRNG", "SUN");
              keyGen.init(56, random);
              SecretKey secretKey = keyGen.generateKey();
              KeyStore ks = KeyStore.getInstance(KeyStore.getDefaultType());
              char password[] = {'j', 's', 'd', '4', '9', '4' };
              // Create an empty keystore
              ks.load(null, password);
              KeyStore.SecretKeyEntry skEntry = new KeyStore.SecretKeyEntry(secretKey);
              ks.setEntry("symKey", skEntry, new KeyStore.PasswordProtection(password));
              // store away the keystore
              java.io.FileOutputStream fos =
                   new java.io.FileOutputStream("mystore");
              ks.store(fos, password);
              fos.close();
         } catch (NoSuchAlgorithmException nsaex) {
              nsaex.printStackTrace(System.err);
         } catch (NoSuchProviderException nspex) {
              nspex.printStackTrace(System.err);
         } catch (KeyStoreException ksex) {
              ksex.printStackTrace(System.err);
         } catch (CertificateException cex) {
              cex.printStackTrace(System.err);
         } catch (IOException ioex) {
              ioex.printStackTrace(System.err);
    } ... and what I don't understand is that the main idea of this code is taken from the Java API documentation itself. See this url for reference
