Where to suggest different album art?

Overall Spotify did a great job at finding the right covers for the albums in their library, but a minority of albums just have awful &/ wrong album art showing up. Is there a platform for that already? Why I'm asking:Deerhunter - Microcastlehttps://open.spotify.com/album/2KtLR3OydzuB6bfJ96GEEf Spotify uses this awful photoshopped alternative cover, I'd love to view this one in my library, this is the official cover you'll see everywhere on the net and fits sooo much better with the cover of their album "Weird Era Cont." which is connected to Microhouse.

This must have been a one time error. I was able to resolve it.

  • Delete multiple tracks, Different album art gone in 12

so in all previous versions of iTunes i was able to delete album artwork from a bunch of files at once that had different artwork. Now it seems in iTunes 12 I can only do multiple IF the artwork is all the same,
for example, i download 8 different tracks from all different artist that have all different artwork. I don't want any artwork at all so I was able to select all, get info, hit album art and hit delete, it deleted for all. I can no longer do this. i can only do it on a per track basis OR for tracks that all have the exact same artwork like in 1 album.
Back to iTunes 11 for now i guess unless some figured out a way around this

When I used the 'Get Album Artwork' command in iTunes the actual song files were locked within finder. I do this to ensure that no track information accidentally gets altered when playing (I have over 2000 albums ripped from CDs and I'm a bit obsessive when it comes to accurate album info!).
With this in mind, it seems to me that the artwork was not actually embedded in the audio file itself. It seems that the artwork is stored in the 'Album Artwork' folder within the 'iTunes' folder in my Home folder.
The artwork for the album in question has actually gone from within iTunes - so there is nothing to delete. It is within the finder that it can be seen as a preview thumbnail on the audio file.
Upon further inspection I realise that the album I am having this problem with is the only album I viewed in the finder before deleting the artwork through iTunes. These preview thumbnails seem to have been generated while the artwork was present in iTunes but still persist even though the artwork is no longer there.

  • Different album art in coverflow and song played

Sometimes the album art in coverflow differs from the one in the lower left corner. Why is that and can I sync them, so they have the same cover?

    Hi.
I had the same problem. The good news is that you can fix it. The bad news is that it may take you quite a bit of time.
The problem is that the metadata is inconsistent in some of your albums. Take a look at the metadata for the albums you are having problems with and make sure that all the tags are consistent.
For example, I had one song on a Beatles album that for some reason had a different year than the other songs on that album. This caused everything on that album to picking the artwork from a Pat Benatar album I had.
    Here's what you do.
    (1) List all the albums with messed up artwork and the albums that the wrong artwork is from.
    (2) In iTunes, check all the songs on each album to make sure that the metadata is consistent.
    (3) Erase the music from the iPod Touch (sync to a blank playlist).
    (4) Resync the music to the iPod Touch.
If you find further problems, then just repeat this process. It took me three goes to fix everything on my 16 gig touch.

  • Where is the 'display album art on my iPod' option?

I only use my iPod in the car, so I don't exactly need album artwork on it. iTunes used to have an option to display (or not display) album art on the iPod. What happened to that option? My iPod is a classic, so it has a hard drive, and I'm getting tired of the constant disk access whenever it wants to display album artwork. I would prefer to get rid of it altogether.
I don't want to delete the artwork itself, because I also listen to music with my AppleTV at home. I just don't need the artwork *on my iPod*. How can I rig it so the iPod won't display the artwork anymore?

never mind, I found out that the option no longer exists:

  • Any Suggestions for Album Art Trouble?

I have a lot of CDs on iTunes and I tried to download the cover art for the CDs. However, the Apple store doesn't have the artwork for many CDs and for others, it downloads the wrong cover art. For the Buena Vista Social Club, for example, it downloaded the cover of Astral Social Club. It doesn't have any cover art for the Beatles (is that because Apple and Apple Records were suing each other over trademark infringement? I thought that had been settled). Is anyone else having this sort of trouble? And how do you get rid of the album art that's wrong? I've tried dragging it to the trash, but nothing happens.

Good advice from Diane Wordsmith. A couple of shortcuts:
To fill in missing artwork: Google and find the correct artwork. Copy it. Get Info on the song tracks and paste the artwork into the artwork field.
Set the views to "show artwork", highlight the track or tracks, then just drag the image from the browser window to the empty artwork box. To make image searching faster in Google, click on the "images" feature in the results window to just see hits with artwork.
To get rid of wrong artwork: Get Info on the song tracks. Select the artwork in the artwork field and hit delete. Then copy and paste as noted above to apply correct artwork. (The artwork field will hold more than one image, so you must hit delete first to get rid of artwork that's wrong.)
If you want to delete artwork from a bunch of files at once, highlight the group of files. Get Info. Click on the box next to the artwork box and close the info window. This will delete all artwork in those files.
Note. Adding artwork to files this way will increase the size of the file. Usually if a single track from an album has artwork it will display for all the items in the album so you don't necessarily need to add artwork to all the tracks in an album. This will save some space.
I am hoping this hasn't changed all that much since iTunes 7.5

  • Where is my free album art?

Steve Jobs said in his September 2006 conference that all new iTunes account holders would receive the album artwork to the songs already in their music library.
I just signed up for an account today and would like to know how to do this. Can anyone provide any info on this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well, if Steve said so, it must be true
Select the song(s) of which you want to get the album artwork and control-click on the selection.
Then select 'Get Album Artwork' from the contextual menu.
iTunes will now contact the Store and start downloading the artwork.
    Some notes:
    You must use iTunes 7.0.x
Only artwork of available albums can be downloaded (so you can't get artwork from e.g. Led Zeppelin or The Beatles).
Name, artist and album of your song(s) in the library must match the ones in the Store.
Sometimes I couldn't get the artwork because it did not exactly match the ones in the Store. Recently, it appeared to me that slight variations in name still get the right artwork, so there doesn't seem to be a perfect match.
    Hope this helps.

  • Why does iTunes display the same album art for different songs, but from the same artist?

    Hi,
a couple of days ago I decided I wanted all of my songs to have an album art. Before I didn't actually care, but since I discovered the view mode with the album arts at the top (the fourth one) I began searching for the right arts, since I like it this way.
I've stumbled upon a problem though. When I add two or more songs from the same artist, iTunes chooses to assign the same album art to the songs. It chooses the album art of the song I added first to my music library. How do I get it to show the proper album art?
I use a program called 'Mp3Tag' to change all the information of my songs. When it's just a single, I end up having an 'artist', 'title', 'genre' and 'cover'. The rest of the information doesn't bother me. With albums I add more information though.
    Here's an example:
I added two songs, one being 'Usher - Climax (Kaskade Remix)' and the other one being 'Usher - Scream'. The one added first was 'Scream'. As you can see below, iTunes somehow assigns the same album art to both songs, while clicking on 'get info' clearly shows the songs have different album arts.
    I discovered something else though:
When adding an 'album name' to the songs, they will show properly, as seen below. The thing is though, I don't want to add an album name. When I sync the songs to my iPod, my 'albums' list will show all of the songs as well, which I don't want.
Is there any way to solve this another way where iTunes won't sort by album, but by song title?
    Thanks in advance.

Can anyone please answer my question?

  • IPod Album art different/incorrect then iTunes

I have an iPod 5G & the album art is displaying different album art for some of the songs then iTunes has. I have tried
    1. restoring the software on the iPod.
    2. removing & synching my entire selected playlist library to my iPod.
If I find a song that displays the wrong album art on the iPod then the correct album art within iTunes - I unselect the song in iTunes, sync my iPod, recheck the song in iTunes, & then synch this sometimes fixed the song(s).
Is anyone else having this problem? Any suggestions of how to fix them ALL?
    Thank you!
    Peace~

If your iPod is set to update automatically then try this:
    iTunes 6
    1. Connect your iPod
    2. Disable "Show Album art" in iTunes>Edit>Preferences>iPod.
    3. Syncronise the iPod with iTunes. (Disconnecting and then reconnecting your iPod will do the trick)
    4. Re-enable "Show Album Art" in iTunes>Edit>Preferences>iPod.
    5. Syncronise the iPod again.
    iTunes 7
If your iPod is set to update automatically then try this:
    1. Connect your iPod
    2. Disable "Display album artwork" in iPod>Music tab and click Apply.
    3. Syncronise the iPod with iTunes.
    4. Re-enable "Display album artwork" in iPod>Music tab and click Apply.
    5. Syncronise the iPod again.

  • Album Art Websites

I have seen on various posts, different websitesor programs where people get their album art from. Maybe we can consolidate it all here. Please post any website or program you use to get album art for your ipod. Please specify if the program is for Mac or Windows. I am looking for a windows compatible program or website.
    Thanks

I just get all my album art from towerrecords.com.
All you have to do is right-click on one of the cd images on the site and hit copy. Then highlight all the songs you want with that album art on itunes. Right click, and then paste the art into the album art box.

  • Wrong Album Art 4 Certin Albums

When going thur the iPod on my iPhone I c a few albums with different album art(both thur coverflow & albums). But this does not happen on my laptop.Does anybody else have this problem? If anybody can help or give me an idea as to why this happens that would be a great help. Thanks a mill!

I was having the same trouble with album artwork being displayed on the wrong albums or not showing up at all even though it is correct and in place in iTunes. What i did to solve it, although a bit of a hassle, was to delete all of my music from my iPhone and sync it all back in groups of 60-90 songs at a time after the 1.1.3 update and now everything looks and works great. Hope this helps...

  • Adding Album Art to iTunes Local Folder?

I have a setup on iTunes on my Dell Dimension Desktop Machine. Basically I have uploaded ALL my CD collection to HDD in WAV format to retain sound quality.
My problem is with getting all the Album Art to work.
About one third of my collection iTunes does not have the Album Art? so I have scanned it all manually and placed an Folder.jpg in each Album/Track Folder.
I appreciate that WAV music files don't have a means of adding extra data to them like MP3 files, therefore, iTunes saves its own downloaded Album Art in a folder called "Download", there is also another Folder called "Local" which is where your manually added Album Art should go?
These are stored as .itc files
However then I try to manually try to add my own album art to the album, by selecting all tracks, Get info, Add album art to the white square and pressing OK nothing happens?
In the Artwork display box it say in large text "Artwork Not Modifiable"? for some reason?
    Any ideas??

Hi Andrew. As far as plug&play, I have not found anything. My best bet was to use a proper utility to grab album art on a go forward basis for all new tracks, and then for the old tracks that have the incorrect metadata, I slowly go through, open up a browser with amazon.com loaded, and then search for the albums/related art that I need. Once I find it I click on the album art in the main browser, which spawns a child window with just the jpeg of the album art in it, and then drag and drop it from that browser into the album art pane. Far from plug and play, but it gets the job done.

  • Album art not showing consistently on iPhone *lockscreen*

iTunes occasionally has trouble with album art, especially after syncs or updates (album art disappearing, or being reshuffled to the wrong mp3s, etc.).
The current problem is different. Normally, with the iPhone's (iPod) music playing, the album art will replace the wallpaper on the lock screen. Lately, this feature has stopped being consistent. Some tracks will display album art on the lock screen, some won't. Those that won't, do have album art embedded (100% certain of this). In one instance, the album art displayed was a mishmash of two different albums' art (again, only on the lock screen). Editing the mp3s to reinsert the album art in iTunes, and then re-syncing, has not solved the problem.
This is probably an issue with how iTunes is handling/editing those mp3s affected, or it may be an iPhone bug. There's nothing outstanding about the specific tracks in question - in every other way they appear to be normal (write enabled, and album art showing in track info).
This problem only occurs @ the lock screen. In iPod view, and album view, display of the album art is normal for all tracks.
I have noticed this also happening with other audio sources (ie, third party audio streaming apps, which normally show some kind of album art @the lock screen).
    Thanks for any feedback.

I too have been having this issue & I've read the articles, advices & other discussions, but none of them fixes this issue. I reboot & still see the wrong album art on the lock screen. It is very annoying especially when you have iTunes with software that was purchased to "automajically" present the correct album artwork. For those of us who actually precise about how our libraries are organized this is a big deal. You spends hours days in keeping things organized, just for the sync to not resemble the labor...
I have both the iPhone 4 & an iPod Touch 2nd gen. You'd think Apple would get stuff like this together before approving it for an update. No one can convince me different... Apple & Windows now both have the same MO! Get a new team of testers.

  • Album art inconsistant with iPod?

I recently updated my album art for the obvious reasons, and it all went fine, until I looked at my iPod. Some of my songs (I've only notices a few by The Clash) display different album art on my iPod. It shows fine on iTunes, so why should the iPod show it different?

    Try the following procedure:
    1. With your iPod connected, highlight it in the device list and click on the "Music" tab.
    2. Uncheck the "display album artwork on iPod" box and click "Apply".
    3. When the iPod is finished updating, re-check the box and click "Apply" again.
I had the same issue with iTunes 6, and this worked for me. The album artwork links on the iPod just get corrupted sometimes, and need to be re-written.

  • Album art the same if album artist field is the same-any way to avoid this?

The situation - It appears that even if an album with various artists (compilation) has different album art for each song sometimes coverflow displays the same album art in coverflow for all songs (it randomly picks one) and not the album art for a given song (in the coverflow view). Filling in a unique album artist appears to resolve the problem (i.e. the specific artwork shows in coverflow for that one song) but if the album artist is the same (i.e. if you autofill the album artists field with something generic) the album art reverts to the behavior of showing the same art for all songs. The goal is to have a way to show the individual album art for these song without having to type in unique album artists entry in the album artist field for each song (optimally being able to either clear the album artist fill for the entire library or do an autofill with some generic label). Basically I want the album art to show for an individual song? Any ideas? (Breaking up the compilation does solve the problem but I am attempting to avoid that. Any other ideas?)

Technically the Album is different if the Album Artist field is different (you are right of course) but that is not the point here. I am trying to achieve a desired result. A combination of different artists songs put together as a compilation and named as an "album" (using iTunes terminology, even though it is not a real album.)
Here is a made up scenario to make sure the situation is clear - Consider 3 songs one by Prince, on by Beyonce and One by Jay-Z. - Now I take the one song from each of them that I want to group together and make it compilation and call an album, called "Wild Combination" or whatever ). There is different artwork for each song obviously (art from its original album or single). Well - I want to see that individual artwork when a given song is playing, not the same artwork for all songs in the "album". Right now, iTunes picks one of the songs and shows the same artwork for all three (i.e. it may be Prince playing but a picture of Jay-Z showing up in coverflow - by the way, the Now Playing box always shows it correctly or the way I want it, coverflow does not and Apple T.V. does not). In the above example the Album artist field is blank.
Partial fix - If you enter an Album artist into that field (i.e. a unique name in the Album artist field for each artist then the individual art shows up in coverflow). If the Album Artist field remains blank it reverts to showing a single art for all songs. If there is some generic text in all three fields (i.e. non-unique, easily filled in generic text) then the art shows the same for all three songs.
The question again, is how to make the individual artwork show up without entering unique text in the album artist field (imagine not 3 songs but 500 hundred or 5000 songs with this problem, unique entries is a no-go). Hopefully that clears up the situation.
Regarding your question about the sort of the art - I have both scenarios but for the sake of this question, lets assume the art is in the song file itself.
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated?

  • Wrong Album Art Displayed

I could not find anyone who has the same problem as I do. When I play music on the iPod I love adding album art. However when I installed the latest update for the iPod I encountered a glitch when playing music on the device.
For example, if I decide to play Beck's album Odelay, a different album art is displayed on all songs in the album. However if I change the iPod screen to album art only while the song is playing, the correct album art is displayed. I don't think that this is an iTunes bug as this problem does not occur on iTunes. It occurs only on my iPod.
Is there a way to fix this bug?
    iPod 30gb   Windows XP Pro

Try this, it usually sorts out incorrect artwork being displayed:
