  • Upgrade standalone Lightroom 5.2 to 5.3 fails

    Hello,
I have standalone LightRoom 5.2 installed (together with standalond Photoshop CS6).
I'm trying to upgrade to 5.3 after the standalone download but I get the same error as I've read in the forum during an upgrade via CC.
The message about a missing resource on a network resource shows up everytime.
It points to the 'Adobe_Lightroom_x64.msi' in a non-existent folder that looks like a registry key ( like i.e.: C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Temp\{B6AE23A1-164E-4A00-A62D-75A9782F4B1E}).
When I point to the "real" folder where the file is located in then after a while the installers says that this installation file is not valid for LightRoom 5.2...
It also says that OLDER version 5.3 can not be removed (????)
    However I'm installing 5.3.
I don't get it and this looks as a big mix-up...
Can you please help me find the solution to this?
If the solution is to uninstall 5.2 first then I want to be sure that all settings and catalogs are retained...
Thanks a lot for your help....

Jeff,  thanks for your feedback BUT...
I don't have CC installed so I don't use it.
the error does not seem the same as the one mentioned in the KB.
My instalation, both windows and LR are both in English.
So I expect this to be caused by another issue.
I also asked if I was to install my LR 5.2 would all settings and catalogs be preserved....
    Thanks for your time.

  • Where can I get a Lightroom preset that turns a portrait into a sketch?

Where can I find a Lightroom that turns a portrait into a sketch?

If Photoshop or Photoshop Elements is installed, LR can pass an image to that directly; but any other application or standalone utility that you use to carry out a job like this, can be set up as a named "external editor" preset. This gives equally easy access from inside LR. You don't need to Export a copy, start a program, find and open the image; nor, then import the results back to LR - these steps are all automated for you.
You right-click on an image and select your editing preset in the context menu; LR saves a copy of your current image and opens it into the other program. You complete the task there, Save and close. LR now (all by itself) shows two versions of that image - the one you saw before, and a new one which shows the results of your external edit.
So even though LR is not in fact doing the task, but subcontracting it out - it is still just about as convenient for the user, as it would be if this were a true LR extension / plugin.
Some Photoshop plugins come in a standalone version as well, and in that case, the standalone app can be used as a targeted editor by LR, which may be faster and simpler. However if you do use such a plugin (or technique using standard tools) within PS, or other full-featured image editor, you have a full range of other editing possibilities there at the same time; for example, so you can mask and vary the strength of your "sketch" effect across different parts of the photo.

  • Is Lightroom 5 upgrade version (from Lightroom 3) ?

Is Lightroom 5 upgrade version (from Lightroom 3) compatible with OS X.8.4 or do I have to buy the full Lightroom 5?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
If you already have Lightroom 3, you should be able to use the upgrade version because it's compatible with 10.8.4

  • Problems finding Standalone Lightroom

    Hi,
I am trying to reinstall my Standalone Lightroom 5.4 copy, but when I try to go to the trial page, the browser is getting looped and never loads correctly.
Is there an alternative means to download the standalone version that anyone knows, or is this Adobe's sad attempt to move us all into paying twice for a product we already own? (That should read paying the same amount or more each year we use it.)
    Thanks in advance,
    Alasdair D

  • Can I change a upgrade license  of lightroom 5 for a creative cloud mambership?

Today I bought a upgrade license of lightroom 5
Afther that I knew the creative cloud and want to know if can I change the value paid (U$155,00) in to creative cloud membership.
    Thank you

    Hi RRBLOIS,
Its not possible to get discounts on products you already own or purchased which are included with your Creative Cloud membership.
It might be possible to return Lightroom 5 if you purchased it from Adobe without realizing it was included with Creative Cloud. We have a 30 day return policy for most products.

  • Over the years I have installed and upgraded Photoshop and Lightroom

Over the years I have installed and upgraded Photoshop and Lightroom, but unfortunately my hard drive crashed and I was wondering how I could reinstall them without the apps?

Are you saying you visited the My Account link at Adobe.com, per Curt's suggestion, and they don't have your serial number info on file, and you don't have your original media or serial number info?
If that's truly the case, get out your credit card because you're basically out of luck.  It's really no one's responsibility but yours to manage your purchase information.
If your software loss was substantial, monetarily, you might call your insurance company.  I have no idea whether they pay under those kinds of circumstances, but it's worth a check.  But most folks have pretty high deductables on their homeowners' policies.
If you DO have your serial number, there are ways to get most older versions of Adobe Creative Suite software from Adobe's web site.

  • Lightroom mobile for standalone Lightroom 5?

    Hi,
It seems that Lightroom mobile is not possible (except 30-day trial) to get for standalone desktop license of Lightroom 5. If this is true, how can I get refund of Lightroom 5 license, when buying the cloud license? It would be fair to allow this refund, since if I would have known this limitation, I would have taken directly the cloud license (if that was available in Dec 2013?). After all, in the cloud license/subscription, the Lightroom version 5 is the same as I have now on my PC as a standalone.
So how I can I start using the Lightroom mobile without paying for the Lightroom 5 twice? (when already having the full license for the standalone Lightroom 5). If it is only available via the Creative cloud subscription, how I could convert/get refund this full Lightroom 5 license into a Creative cloud subscription?

James, Lightroom mobile is included as part of the following Creative Cloud membership plans:
    Creative Cloud Photography plan
    Photoshop Photography Program
    Creative Cloud complete plan
Creative Cloud Student and Teacher Edition
Creative Cloud for teams complete plan
If you have access to Lightroom 5 via your Creative Cloud membership, then you have access to Lightroom mobile.
Since Lightroom mobile is a service, it is available only via membership plans. Lightroom 5 perpetual license does not include access to Lightroom mobile.

  • I want to upgrade my current lightroom 4 version to lightroom 5 , trying to find a link to purchase/ download on adobe not the cloud version thou.

I want to upgrade my currently Lightroom 4 to Lightroom 5 but can't find anywhere on Adobe to do this apart from going to cloud which I don't want to do , is there still the possibility to do this or has cloud the only option.

    Try here   Products
Might want to wait a month or so as Lr6 will be out so you won't have to upgrade twice.  Trouble is no one that knows can say when it will be released so it could be awhile or next week

  • Problems upgrading from standalone to CC Lightroom

    Hi all.
I had a standalone license for Lightroom 5 but subscribed to the Photographer's Bundle to get Photoshop & LR5. When I first installed it I had a couple of issues but since then it has all been fine. However, today my CC Desktop was telling me LR was not installed, even though it obviously was. I removed LR and reinstalled via CC. That's where the problems began. Trying to open the CC version I was just getting "the catalog could not be opened due to an unexpected error". I could not create a new blank catalog at this point to try alternatives, nor open my current catalog. I have now removed the CC version and put back the other version and my current catalog loads just fine. Now CC says LR is Up to Date even though it's on 5.6 not 5.7 and there's no other way to update it.
Anyone any idea what the problem might be?
    OS X Yosemite
    LR 5.6

All your settings and data is save and will carry over.
If you update to LR 6 (CC 2015) the installer is the same for both versions and you can decide later if you want to license as stand-alone or subscribe to a CC plan.

  • Does anyone know where link is for standalone version of LRCS6 is?  Bought upgrade and can't find it.

Cannot find the standalone version of LR6.... anyone know where it is?  I already purchased upgrade and CC loads not standalone.

You used to be able to view them on your computer in your I tunes library under rented and choose the option to watch on computer or stream to your Apple TV. I too have the problem and can't find the film I downloaded which incidentally took 33 hours!

  • Want to upgrade from Lightroom 5 to standalone Lightroom 6, can't find that info on your site.

Lightroom 6 is offered as a standalone purchase from B&H Photo but nowhere on the Adobe site is it mentioned or offered………..why?

Yes, but when you click on Products it takes you to a page for Creative Cloud Plan for $9.99/month.
Just received another response from Adobe that has the proper link
