If you have older version of sapdba
wht you need to do is go to run and type sapdba.exe
you will get a window with options
a-startup/shutdown instance          h-backup database
b-instance information               i-backupoffline redologs
c-tablespace administration          j-restore/recovery
d-reorganisation                     k-db check/verification
e-export/import                      l-show/cleanup
f-archivemode                        m-user and security
g-additional functions
q-quit
or you can go to usr\sap\SID\sys\exe\run\sapdba.exe
when you go to the same path and type brtools.exe ...this one is the newer version and is supported by sap
you will get a window with options
1= instance management
2- space management
3- segment management
4- backup and database copy
5- restore and recovery
6- check and verification
7- database statistics
8- additional functions
9- exit programm
standard keys: c-cont, b-back, s-stop, r-refr, h-help
You can select the options among them which will give you further options
SAP has come up with gui version of BRTOOLS
when ever you perform any action out of the above options there will be logs created in the respectory folders which are located oracle DB folder
