Where will new items in managed library go ?
I am meaning to ask this , supposed if i have ten photos in a project under ABC , i export three of them , delete them from aperture library , do some processing on them , and then drag them back to aperture .
Will aperture store them inside the same folder in managed library ? or a new folder with appropriate date stamp be created ?
Any image imported to aperture will go to a new untitled project unless you tell it were you want them to go. Choose from the destination tab or type a new one were you want to store the files, like on an external hard drive. Then in the next label down select a project or type in a name for a new one.

[iMS 5.2] Two iMS against one DS, where will new user's mailbox be created
I have two iMS 5.2 configured against one DS, iMS A is the production server, iMS B is on a different host and shall become the production server.
I installed B against a temporary DS and switched to the production DS using the local.ugldap stuff. I am not using Delegated Admin.
I use a test domain whose preferredmailhost attribute of the domain's DC tree entry is set to iMS B. But when I create a new user using Console/Admin Server of iMS B (and mailhost attribute set to B) his mailbox turns up on iMS A (checking with mboxutil).
What do I miss here?I think you need to open a tech support ticket to pursue this.
I have done exactly what you describe, on every version from 4.15 through 6.1, and found it to work differently from what you describe.
All of Messaging Server looks at the "mailhost" attribute in LDAP for mail routing and mailbox creation.
If a message is found coming into a box, the MTA looks up the LDAP entry, and if "mailhost" is on another box, the message is routed there. Since no mail can be handed to the delivery subsystem, no mailbox is ever created, unless you do something manually to create it. Even if you create such a mailbox, no mail should ever be put there, unless you use something like the "deliver" command.
If you attempt to log into the wrong mailhost with webmail, webmail will automatically "proxy" you to the correct box. Is this what you're seeing? -
Old News Items Reading - TBP service
Dear experts,
How to read old news items (using xml form builder) after activating TBP service.
We have recently changed our existing xml templates. Added ValidFrom and ValidTo fields in the Edit form.
And activated TBP service on the folder where these news items are being stored.
But the problem here is, after activating TBP service the end users (read permissions) are unable to view
old news items.
If we edit old news items in the form it shows current date and time by default in the "Valid From" and "Valid To" fields.
That means the news items are expired as per the system.
How can we avoid this problem.

SatyaAfter activating TBP you need to maintain the Valid dates for all resources. TBP works as designed. Users with read only will see a resource only if the date is still valid. This is a known feature, that if you open the item with no dates maintained yet, you see the actual date. So you really need to edit all news items to get them visible again. New items should of course be maintained with the correct dates.

I have been a mac user for a good few years now and use iTunes regularly.
Since the recent updates to iTunes I have been experiencing an issue that is becoming extremely frustrating and annoying!
Whenever I add a new item to my library, iTunes starts to play the Internet streams that I have opened over the years and duplicates them in the library in a playlist called "Internet songs". While the library is updated I cannot stop the playback. I have a very large library and it takes some time for all of the organising etc to finish.
This was never an issue with previous versions of iTunes.
Has anyone else had this problem? I have searched but can't find any mention on the Internet.
I really don't want to listen to these tracks anymore!!!
Deleting from the library does not stop this issue from occurring either.

To make Mail quit you'll need to perform a forced quit or, failing that, a forced shutdown.
When an application won't quit you can hold the Command and Option keys together and then type the ESC key. This (usually) brings up a dialog with all the running applications. Select the offending program and click the Force Quit button.
If this doesn't force the application to quit (quite rare) or if you cannot get the Force Quit Dialog to pop up, hold the power button for about 10 seconds to shut down the entire computer. This should be a last resort but sometimes is necessary. -

I have a tree that i allow user to drag and drop items to it - what is the easiest way so the new item is automatically selected? ie, tree.selectedIndex should point to the new item's index.
Unfortunately it thought this was easy apparently it was not - like if the nodes in the tree control are collapsed, the selectedIndex is different than when all the nodes are expanded.
Do note that the way i populate my tree is through a data provider - so i populate a class that would become the tree's data provider, so when the tree refreshes, i simply do this:
myTree.dataProvider = project.p;
I can track where my new item was inserted in my "project" instance - but like i said earlier, the tree itself have different selectedIndex when the nodes are collapsed and when they are not.

I have an old dell desktop and an older ipod with my itunes library....the dell desktop is not functioning as well and have not been able to sync a newer ipod to the library .....i now have a newer Macbook air....i would like to put my library on my Air i tunes....when i attached the ipod to the air to try to sync the ipod library onto the air itunes i received a message that said i was synced with another library and that if i wanted to sync with this library i would need to "erase and sync" ....got spooked as i dont want to lose the library/ or the music....question ----will this procedure put my existing library (which is all on my older ipod) onto my Macbook air itunes?...any help would be greatly appreciated...thank you in advance...
No, it will sync the ipod to the content of the MBA which presumably has nothing on it (= erasing content of iPod and replacing it with nothing).

Quick answer if you let iTunes manage your music: Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive. Start iTunes with the option key held down and guide it to the new location of the library.

Portlet for managing news items
Hello,
I need a portlet that manages news items. Basically it is a list of items sorted chronologically, where the x most recent items are displayed.
Does Oracle or one of his partners has such a portlet?

I have 2 new HDs to add to PC - where will they help the most?
I recently purchased 2 new Hard Drives (1TB SAMSUNG F1) that match the ones I currently use in my Intel core i7 PC running Windows 7. I'm wondering where these new HDs will do me the most good, as far as performance and considering future growth, etc. 90% of my work is in 1080i at about 130Mbps Oh yeah, I'm on a budget, so thanks for not suggesting I buy 10 more drives and a high end RAID card ;-) FYI, I'm currently using the motherboard's Intel RAID controller.... I know - I would love to buy a real RAID card!!
Here is my current HD set-up - total of 4 Samsung 1TB F1 7200 RPM:
Drive c: OS and apps
Drive d: 2 disk RAID0 - I set this for "capture" within each PPRO project. I also send media encoder renders here because the sources files are mostly rendered files on the e drive. Plus I often want to back-up these encodes along with the capture files.
Drive e: "render drive" - target for PPRO preview renders, caches (including Cineform renders)
* I realize the flaw with above now - since I use the Cineform CODEC for most edits, almost every clip ends up needing to be rendered, so my poor solo render drive is actually doing more work and playing bigger bit-rate files then my capture array. (I may or may not get a capture card at this point)
** the other issue that comes into play here is which files need to be kept and backed up and which drives can be regularly restriped. From my short time with PPRO, it would seem that none of the PPRO preview or cache files need to be saved or backed up....just the capture files and any media encoder files that I want to keep. Am I missing anything here?
So, I see my options as:
add both new HDs to render array to create a 3 disk RAID0 for renders/previews, leaving the 2 disk RAID0 for captures
add (1) HD to render to create a 2 disk RAID0 render array and use the second new HD somehow to improve performance or workflow
Thanks for your advice on how best to use the two new HDs to improve my system. I think that I only have 6 SATA plugs on my motherboard (ASUS P6T V2), so this fills out my internal HD options.

Thanks for your helpful post! I am trudging through an upgrade to Windows 7 retail from the RC. It worked but is not very stable, so I may have to do a clean install.
Anyway - since you just went through setting up a RAID5 using the Intel MoBo feature, I was hoping that you would be willing to reply with a basic "How-to" or list of steps involved. It has been 8 months since I played with the hard drive arrangement and I can't remember what I did or how, ie, do I start with doing things in the BIOS, how do I stripe the RAID5, etc. Any help would be appreciated! In the meantime, I'll download the Intel Matrix software as you suggested.

My current arrangement is below. I have two new Samsung F1 HDs to add to these. FYI, the new drives are the same make/size as the existing, but are the commmercial grade. The existing HDs are the ordinary grade....I assume that these will work together in a RAID5 OK.
MoBo = ASUS P6T Delux V2
CPU = Core i7
Disk 0 = OS, boot, page file, primary partition
Disk 1 = video files (capture) * this is a RAID0 using two 1TB Samsung F1
Disk 2 = renders * single 1TB Samsung F1 -
Purchased items not in library but itunes says it is already downloaded. It is in my i-phone library but when I try to download ot computer, it will not let me. It acknowledges that it is already purchased but says it is already donwloaded. It is not.
