Where would I find the amount of memory or space my machine has left?

I just bought a used imac G3. this is my first experience with a mac. so far I love it but there are a couple things I can't figure out.
First i got rid of previous user's folder and made myself the administrator etc. i set up 2 other users. how can i set up each of our docks the same all at once, or do I have to sign in 3 times and specify preferences one at a time?
Also, if I load say Limewire on one users folder, is it avail to all 3?
Also, I prefer firefox, however, when i upgrade to the newest version the icon goes away and when i go into applications folder I see the upgrade thingy/folder but not the icon. when I do get the icon it stays in a box on my desktop with the words zero kb available. what does that mean?
and last but not least, as my subject line asks, where do I look for the status of my harddrive space, how do I know if I have enough space to load something new, how many pictures can I store, how much music can I store all that good stuff?
As you can see I'm not hugely computer savvy, just enough to get myself in trouble really
thanks so much to whomever answers any of my questions - I appreciate whatever help you can give me.
(also, my profile says that I'm running OS X 10.4.6, but I'm not really sure, that's just what one of the disks has written on it that came with my used and very cheap machine
thanks,
Tracy

Click on the blue Apple icon at the top left of your screen and choose About this Mac. That will tell you what your OS version is and what amount of RAM you have. The "More Info" button in the pop-up screen will give you the Apple System Profiler application and that will give you whole bunches of information on the drive space used etc.

  • Where can I find the amount of gb's a tv show has on the new iTunes via iOS6 for the iPhone 4S?

The question above says it all. I tried to purchase a season pass for a tv show, but, I can't because I don't have enough space on my phone. I have a 16gb iPhone 4S (I already know how to make more space on my phone). I have 10.9gb's available. But, anyway where can I find out the information on how much gb's a tv show has on the new iTunes for iOS6 via the iPhone 4S? Any help would be greatly appreciated! =)

  • Is it possible to run two different versions of Apple operating system (for ex. 10.6.8 and 10.9) on a MacBook Pro, either on the same disk or from an external hard disk? If so, where would I find the details?

Is it possible to run two different versions of Apple operating system (for ex. 10.6.8 and 10.9) on a MacBook Pro, either on the same disk or from an external hard disk? If so, where would I find the details? (In order to be able to use the older applications no longer supported in 10.9)

If you want to add a second partition to the internal drive (in Disk Utility, select the drive, then open the partition tab and just click the + button), you should first be sure that you will have enough room to accommodate whatever the second volume will be. I am currently doing this for Snow and Mountain Lion.
To get to whatever volume is not the startup disk, restart and hold down option/alt at the chime, which will bring up a selection of the two volumes. Use the left or right arrow keys to select it and then hit enter/return.

  • HT1338 I have Logic Pro 9 on my desktop, I'd like to install it on my laptop. Where would I find the installer?

I have Logic Pro 9 on my desk top and I'd like to install it on my laptop. Where can I find the installer.

Before uninstalling the software it's always recommended to 'Deactivate' the license by going to the 'Help' menu else it will give the error you are getting.
This is because as per End User License Agreement you cannot install the software on more than 2 computers.
In case the older computer is no longer there to 'Deactivate' then please contact Customer Care at 8008336687(US) / Support or Chat Support to increase the activation count on your license and they would be able to help as an exception.

  • Where would I find the drivers for an external device after I install it?

Okay, so I need help. I installed a driver for osx 10.5 thinking that installing the software 10.7 would support it. If it did, then it created a bigger problem, which is I cannot create a USB Ethernet connection in the networks pane. Mind helping out and telling me what I should do?

you would generally find the drivers for an external device on the manfacturers website.  However, with printers for example, I have recieved updates directly through Software Update.

  • Where would one find the .config files for the old archlinuxarm..?

I've been having many issues trying to resurrect archlinuxarm on my Mac Mini G4, and I feel as if a recompile of the kernel may be necessary. Although, it would be nice to have a starting point, such as a .config file, to possibly even produce newer kernels for the PowerPC architecture. If anyone is curious of the issues, one of them was that the kernel could not find the root partition, and if I specified one manually, it would hang with: "Unable to mount root fs via NFS, trying floppy." It would not recognize keyboard input if I got to an emergency shell, suggesting missing kernel modules in the image.

Arch Linux ARM is - as th name implies - for the ARM architecture, not for PowerPC.
There used to be a PPC Arch-based distro, but it has been dead for a while https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ar … hLinux_PPC

  • Where do I find the size of my Harddrive and how much is left?

This is crazy, where do I find out how much space is left on my Hard drive? I have a MacAir 2010, I'm being notified that I have no space left on disk? I imagine this is the Start disk? I dunno? I click on "apple logo" in upper Left of the Air' I don't see any hard drive info?
I had a query answered about how to wipe my "hard drive" but I'm just wondering how much space I have left?

Choose Computer from the Finder's Go menu, click on it, and choose Get Info from the File menu.

  • Where do I find the amount of free space left

The answer used to be at the bottom of the finder window you saw howmuch space was being used

You can put that information back into the finder window with
    command - /  (forward slash).
Equivalently, show the status bar from the Finder view menu.

  • Where would I find the background settings?

I want to change the background to Transparent. How could I do it?

If you're talking about making part of an image you already have partially transparent, you'll need to make it a true layer (so that is e.g., Layer 0, not Background), then mask the part of it you want to see through.  There are tutorials on doing masking on Adobe TV.  For example:

  • Where do I find the hex number for my new Time Machine?

I need it so that an XBox can be connected.
    Thank you

Sorry, I cannot duplicate what you are seeing.
Is the Time Capsule operating normally, otherwise?
When you open AirPort Utility, are you clicking on the Time Capsule on the left side of the window to highlight it, and then clicking Manual Setup at the bottom of the window?
A summary page of all of your settings will appear if everything is working correctly.
Try power cycling your entire network before you do this as follows:
Power everything down, order is not important
Wait a moment, then start the modem first and let it run a minute by itself
Then start the next device connected to the modem the same way
Keep starting devices one at a time until everything is powered back up

  • Where do I find the link to download older version of keynote?

I want to purchase an older version of KeyNote for my 2011 MacBook?  Where would I find the link?

When Apple release new applications, they discontinue all previous versions, it is no longer available from Apple.
Keynote version 5 is part of iWorks 09, its available from Ebay as a DVD disc only.
