Whers my openreach modem?!!!

This is my last attempt before i cancel and move to a company that values my custom!. I am at boiling point as i can not get an answer even from an operator that does understand me (english language) about why an engineer did not arrive at my address to install the openreach fibre modem etc. I recieved confirmation that my services would start on 05/08/13 and an engineer would be here between 1-6 pm after booking the day off i waited, waited, and am still waiting nearly two weeks later and not a thing has been done.I have spent hours and i mean at least 3 probably more being passed from one team to another even online chat messed me around an operator named (RATNADEEP NANDI) and still got connected back to where i started an hour and twenty minutes ago.I am so frustrated at the moment and feel humiliated to be honest and am going to cancel.A friend at work had a similar problem to me and it ended up getting sorted by a moderator on here so here i am.Please can somebody help me? An open fault has been placed on my phone line and broaband service, all because the foriegn gentleman could not understand what i was trying to explain.THERE IS NO FAULT BECAUSE I AM USING THEM RIGHT NOW!!! So for one last time (and i mean last time) can someone please assist me?

  • Replacing Home Hub, Keeping OpenReach Modem

I would like to swap out the HH3 for my Draytek 2820.
Yesterday I set it up, using it's WAN2 configuration.
When I finished setting it up when I opened any page I got this message, which was at address: http://62.6.38.125/index.html:

So, I assume my Draytek is talking to the OpenReach modem, and I am being apssed through to the BT network, but I am authenticating incorrectly.

  • Location of Openreach modem and Home Hub (BT Infin...

In my previous property I asked the BT engineer to locate the modem/HH in an upstairs study and this was no problem, no extra cabling required (master socket was in kitchen) all extension sockets still work fine. I moved home and had BT Infinity 2 installed, phone line enabled same day. The house was built in 2007 so has extensions in all the rooms. Looks like the master socket is in the cupboard under the stairs. Although the previous occupier obviously had the openreach modem and home hub located in the lounge, as the mounting screws etc were still there. But here none of the extensions work, the engineer said this is a side effect of moving the master socket. But why was this possible in my previous house?
The engineer installed with the existing screws etc and left it all in the lounge and still none of the extensions work. I'd like my extensions working and the modem/hub located in my upstairs office, how do I arrange for this?

As stated above. The link light is active on the openreach modem, and my DD-WRT router is still correctly configured to use [email protected] as the PPPoE username and a blank password. Nothing on my end has changed, But I can't get an IP address assigned to me.
I got an address assigned an hour or so ago that repeatedly took me to a BT wholesale
service information page. I then lost that IP and haven't been assigned another one since.
    Any advice?

  • Home Hub 3/Openreach Modem

    Hi guys
I've recently placed my Infinity order and am currently awaiting for my equipment to be delivered on Tuesday.
I'm wondering if everything's correct as I'm reading on here that I need both the Home Hub AND the Openreach modem? Is this right? The reason I ask is because my account's dispatch note just mentions that the Home Hub has been dispatched with no mention of an Openreach Modem?
If somebody could please clarify then that would be great.

  • Please help - Faulty openreach modem but BT India ...

    Hi,
After having recently been upgraded to Infinity 2, my connection went intermittent and then off completely last week. I called BT India who said the fault was not at my end and that I should give it 24-48 hours for the problem to be resolved. After a couple of days, still no connection.
I am aware that early openreach modems have a reliability issue as this modem is my second (the original died after a couple of months and was replaced by an engineer who had done four that morning). I got a letter about a swap out last November but never heard anything more after that, so the modem I am using is not a new one. The modem is wall mounted under my desk. So, after 48 hours of no connection, last week I placed a fan under the desk next to the modem to blow cool air at it. Within a minute or two I had a connection again. Switch off the fan, give it a few minutes and the connection is dropped again.
I then rang BT India again (got a woman called Romy) and tried to explain to her that the problem was my modem. She just said it was "very strange" and had no knowledge of the reliability issues of these early modems. She said she would have a replacement sent to me and I got her to confirm that it was an "openreach modem" that she was ordering.
I've just been away in Belgium for 4 days and returned today (Monday) to find a missed delivery card (which looks like it was from earlier this morning) and a letter from BT. The letter says we're sorry that your "BT home hub 3.0 black" is not working and that I'll get my replacement soon! Arrrrrgghhh! I don't even use the hub 3 I've got as I have a DLink DIR-825 router of my own!
Do BT India actually know what an openreach modem for BT infinity is? It appears not from my experience.
So, if somebody on here from BT UK could kindly assist in getting me a new modem either by post or sending an engineer round to do a swap out (and advising me of what to do with the home hub 3 I'm about to receive) then I would be extremely grateful.
    Thanks,
    Ade.

    Update.
BT India have now rung me back, different member of their call team, wanting to know if my system was working.
After explaining again to him, he straight away said "I'll send an engineer out tomorrow, morning or afternoon?"
Wish they had taken that option when I called last week.
I'll ping the hub back in the returns bag when it arrives (with a note attached saying it's not a dud), then hopefully I won't get charged for that.

  • Bt infinity openreach modem needs power cycling ev...

I have had to power cycle my openreach modem every day for the last two weeks in order to regain connection. I have phoned bt who ran a line test then told me nothing was wrong. Has anybody else had an issue like this or am i going to have to go and buy a vdsl modem myself? Thanks in advance.

Of course they are refusing, you are not using the equipment they supply and are "out of contract".
I would imagine they want you into a new contract for you to be ale to get a "wonderfull" HH5.
The question here is how far do you want to go?
If you are not using ISP supplied equipment (the modem would've been within start of your contract) then you are on your own regarding equipment unless you can prove the fault happens on entry to your propery.

  • Openreach modem failed

OK, so I'm starting this topic to track how quickly my issue can be resolved. I have infinity 2 and have had a steady 70/20 since install 2 years ago. On Sunday 31/8/2014, the internet died. All lights on the openreach modem were out and the middle light of the hub3 was out too. Checked the openreach modem power supply with a multimeter and all fine. Held down reset button as per web instructions - nothing. Borrowed a neighbours openreach modem and boom - all working again! So, diagnosis is it's my openreach modem.
1st call to BT on 1/9/2014 - yes, we agree it's your openreach modem but need to escalate to level two support to confirm (??). They are due to call me back at 7.30-9.30pm on 2/9/2014.
At this stage; I would appreciate it if an openreach engineer could pop in to swap my modem (2 minute job) that's all I need. Let's see what happens! Any help to get this done would be most appreciated!
    Solved!

Your Google search did not represent the problem with the modem per se. The original modem supplied with Infinity did suffer from an overheating problem unless it was wall - mounted as what the OEM envisaged. Openreach then went out of their way to replace all of them with a slightly different build which solved the problem and then had a second supplier providing another make of modem.
Your Google search brouht up the original problem.
That does not mitigate what I said before. You should not have been referred to 2nd line and your problem should have been solved by 1st line.
Have you called back yet? Don't expect a call from them...It won't happen!

  • Swap out Home Hub 5 for Openreach Modem at install...

    Hi,
I'm scheduled to get Infinity installed to a new line in January and I'm not keen on using the supplied HH5 as I want to use my Time Capsule to control my network. Have there been any cases whereby the Engineer might be able to supply an Openreach modem on installation and not use the HH5? Or failing this I could do it myself after installation if I get a VDSL modem?
    Thanks in advance!

The Openreach engineer might install an Openreach modem but there is no guarantee because you have the HH5 which as you know has the modem integrated. You would need to ask and if he says no you'll have to accept that.
As far as I am aware there is nothing to stop you removing the HH5 and using your own modem. The only problem would be if you had any problems, BT would not offer any help or support, such as it is, because you are using non BT equipment.

  • Where is the Modem?

In the Triple Play package they only show the free Router included. Where's the modem?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Some people run their own router for better wireless than the FIOS router provides.
The FIOS provided router does not support the 5Ghz band which is less crowded.
However, be aware of a couple of things.
    1)  VZ's standard installation is coax from the ONT to the router unless you're on a tier over 100Mbps.
    2)  VZ's router (or a MOCA adapter) is still required to connect the STBs.

  • Can you still get the Openreach modem?

Should be having Infinity installed on Wednesday and the HH5 came today.. I like to use my own routers as the HH5 doesn't really support my needs.
I can use my router with the Openreach modem just fine but iv been told that they are no longer given out anymore? Can I just ask the engineer to give me one?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Well it would be less than ideal.. I have a pretty extensive network setup with my own equipment and I already tried running my whole network off the HH5 and while transfering some files over LAN it just fell over. It was fine until I connected the 15th device then it got kind of wonky.

  • Where exactly are modem settings stored?

I was trying to add my wife's phone to the list of devices we used to connect to the internet as bluetooth modems last night, and all **** broke loose. We're on T-Mobile in the UKI, I use a Nokia 6280 and she has a 6300.
I've been connecting fine, and so thought adding her phone would be simplicity itself. But nope. Couldn't get her phone working which was no big deal as she hardly uses it, but I use the phone everyday as a modem and now it's not working either.
I think it's something to do with the port settings on Bluetooth but I can't be sure. Anyhow, despite trying to mess around with the Ross Barkman's scripts and info at Taniwha.org.uk, I still haven't had any job.
T-Mobile won't help, as I do pay 12.50 GBP per month to use their dedicated 3G service, so I'm on my own. I suddenly realised I could just restore the files Time Machine from before all this happened, but I don't know precisely where to look. Specifically, where will I find the files containing the setting changed by adding new phones, storing details of paired phone, port details and network settings such as APNs, Script details etc? If I can get those, I can just restore and hopefully everything would be OK. Help gratefully appreciated!

  • Openreach modem flashing

Since last night, the power light on my fibre modem comes on for 4 seconds, flashes 8 times, goes off, comes back on and does that cycle constantly.
    Is the modem knackered?
Tried all reseats and resets possible

Well if the modem isn't even booting up then they wouldn't be able to see to the current modem stats that I thought they normally accessed as part of the tests. That might account for some of the 'faults on the line'. Not sure if the stats are uploaded to elsewhere on a regular basis.
Just like the master socket the separate white VDSL modem is the property of Openreach so I think an engineer would have to visit if it needs replacing. The other option would be for BT to send you a new BTHomeHub 5 through the post as these have a VDSL modem built-in. However I suppose they can't know that the modem is definitely the cause of the problem until the engineer visits, checks things and reports back?

  • DSL cable keeps falling out of Openreach modem

I'm having an issue where the DSL cable doesn't "click" when I put it in, so the slightest pull or bump and the cable falls out and I lose my connection. I have had to sellotape the cable into the port just to stop it falling out all the time. I'm guessing this isn't a design flaw and my port is just busted, right? And would BT replace the modem for free?

    Hi there,
I think the issue you're having is that the retaining clip on the rj-11 connector has snapped off, hence the reason that it doesn't click into place. I've had this a couple of times with rj-45 (ethernet) cables in the past.
If I were you, I'd check your rj-11 lead to see if my suspicions are correct and if they are, then I'd go to that well-known auction site and do a search for rj-11 to rj-11 cables in the length you require.
    I hope this info helps.
