Whether it is good to take training for 1z0-047 exams or self studies?

What is the good option among bottom two for 1z0-047:
Take training from Oracle partner training institute which cost me approximately 9000 rupees i.e apprx $195.
Or
Self study is better one???
If self study is better then from which material I can start preparing???
Please guide me..........

IMHO Really to get to 1z0-047 you need to get some SQL practice first ... and from other than a classroom. To get to 1z0-047 in one hop simply isn't reasonable for most people.
The praice quoted there seems cheap for a OEAC .... and i would be beware exactly what 'Oracle partner training institute' means .... ( I think you are proably talking about an offering from the workforce program). The are unauthorised trainers out there ... which is a problem for people aiming for a certification needing validiated authorised training (eg DBA OCP) .... but not so important for PL/SQL OCP's who don;t.

  • Training for 1z0-051?

    Hello all,
I have a requirement by my employer to achieve Oracle Certification.  I passed 1z0-052 last week after studying off and on for the last year and a half.  Next up is 1z0-051 or 061.
Fortunately my employer is funding a training class for this exam.  We have 11g in our environment, so it is the 051/052 track I started on.  I noticed on the 051 exam page that the recommended training is no longer offered.  I'm planning to take the training class linked from the 061 page (Oracle Database 12c: Introduction to SQL Ed 1.1).  Is this adequate/sensible training for the 051 exam?  Or should I scrap 051 in favor of 061?  I see that either will count towards OCA/OCP.
I am speaking out of honest ignorance here, but it seems that the material covered for 061 is completely applicable to 051.  Any sage advice for me?  Am I off track in my assessment?
Many thanks for any help you can offer.
    -Alan

The 1Z0-051 and 1Z0-061 exams have about a 95% commonality in topics.  The 'Introduction' section was added to 1Z0-061 and the 'Creating other schema objects' section that was in 1Z0-051 has been removed in 061.  As such, the 061 training should prepare you for the vast majority of the 1Z0-051 exam.
That said -- there is no reason not to simply take the 1Z0-061 exam if that's what you are taking the training for anyway.  I generally consider picking one over the other to be largely a toss up. Last week someone had the Oracle Press book for 1Z0-051 and was asking about taking 061.  I suggested going with 051 since they had the study materials for it.  In your case, the opposite applies, so I would suggest that the 1Z0-061 exam would probably be the (slightly) better choice.

  • Prerequisites for 1Z0-047 (Certified SQL Expert)?

I know a lot of the Oracle certification paths require that you take Oracle-sponsored training. the 1Z0-047 one however lists "recommended" training. I can't find anywhere that says whether the training is explicitly required, or whether it's acceptable to have learned the material other ways (private training, on-the-job learning). I don't want to waste money taking (and presumably passing) an exam when that won't be sufficient to earn the certification.

No I can't in deed! Was on hurry to write something to that also ;-)
But if you get 0% correct on the free sample questions given from oracle, then the chances are quite low...
As it is needed to be ready on all the topics in order to get a chance to pass the exam, it was more an advice to try the free sample questions given from oracle.
Personaly I always get through all the topics (with the documentation, training courses and/or books), making excercices on a test installation and get official selftest (if they are existing for this exam.

nehaReading your post I am concerned, perhaps for no reason, that you may be targetting more at passing exams and gaining certifications rather than gaining Oracle knowledge and experience.
The properly perparing DBA candidate attempting to take the exam 'soon' should have calibre to be aware
    - http://www.oracle.com/pls/db112/homepage
    - there is an equivalent book by Sybex (Searchable for on major booksellers).
    - Courses at education.oracle.com
    - Authorised practice Tests: http://www.oracle.com/global/us/education/certification/sts.html
    - Training from Oracle ... http://www.oracle.com/education
Be aware there may be offers of unauthorised learning material ....
    http://blogs.oracle.com/certification/2009/05/the_route_you_choose.html
(Posts like this one often encourages spamming by dishonourable certification unsafe braindump promotors).
Unlike 1z0-051the 1z0-052 exam treated as a 'high stakes' exam.
'Easy' is relative; however i suspect many would find 1z0-051 easier than 1z0-052.

  • Books for 1Z0-047 and 1Z0-144

    Hello all,
I'm planning to study for "Oracle PL/SQL Developer Certified Associate" certification. I was planning to prepare for 1Z0-047 and 1Z0-144 as both of those exams are validated against Oracle Database 11g.
I was wondering if any of guys here can help me out with the couple of questions that I have.
    1. Which one would you recommend among the two of the below exams?
    1Z0-047 (Oracle Database SQL Expert)
    or
    1Z0-051 (Oracle Database 11g: SQL Fundamentals I)
    2. What books should I refer for 1Z0-047 and 1Z0-144? I read a lot of threads about this topic. But, I haven't found a proper answer yet, which is why I'm posting this question again.
For 1Z0-047, I saw people recommending the following:
OCA Oracle Database SQL Expert Exam Guide: Exam 1Z0-047 (Osborne Oracle Press Series) by Steve O'Hearn
OCA Oracle Database 11g SQL Fundamentals I Exam Guide: Exam 1Z0-051 (Osborne ORACLE Press Series) by John Watson and Roopesh Ramklass
For 1Z0-144, I saw people recommending the following:
Oracle PL/SQL Programming: Covers Versions Through Oracle Database 11g Release 2 (Animal Guide) by Steven Feuerstein and Bill Pribyl
OCP Developer PL/SQL Program Units Exam Guide by Steve O'Hearn
I kindly request you guys to help me out as I don't have much idea about these books. It would be really great if someone who has passed the exams or read these books throw some light on these.
    Thanks in advance.

Thisi usually a prompt for braindump providers to spam a couple of messages on a thread like this ... and I have to waste time reporting them and some else removing them, as I have had to to this afternoon.
Therefore the 2 links I shall give are:

Ucertify does have a 1z0-144 practice test ... quality may or may not be poor. Ucertify currently remains certifcation safe AFAIK.
    http://www.ucertify.com/exams/Oracle/1Z0-144.html
( I feel like I am advertising Ucertify ... which I dont want to be. I feel if I dont do this people will end up with braindump providers). Some may even find a poor quality practice test more harm than good, time may have been better sent learning from the online manuals and practicing what is there.

  • Need help for 1Z0-047

    Hi,
I want to take my first exam as 1Z0-047.
I have just completed my b-tech and have some basic knowledge about sql.
    I have "OCA Oracle Database

    Exam Guide
    (Exam 1Z0-047)"
is this book is sufficent to crack this?
    if not please suggest something.
    Thanks,

    Thanks,
PraveenTo make a steam locomotive go one needs fire, water and steam. You can struggle by for a bit with a shortage of one of these.
And I think a better way to think about your question is:
IMHO To pass 1z0-047 you need knowledge practice and experience.
    - And you can something squeeze through if one of these is a little weaker and the others very strong.
From the book you can gain knowledge (as indeed can the oracle documentation). IMHO If you gain it all, the knowledge from the book is sufficient for passing the exam.
You can also use the book to get a little test practice. (And perhaps a little practice of the SQL itself).
The book however doesn't give experience.
    - Having said all this I feel starting from zero trying to pass 1z0-047 is likely to result in failure.
Better in my opinion is study for 1z0-051 first. It's a lot gentler on the brain. And take that. It's a lot cheaper if you fail it and need to retake. And the exam is easier (though you might have to learn more detail in places, which perhaps isn't a bad. thing).
........... But if after studying for 1z0-051 you elect to skip it and go for 1z0-047 direct that is your choice. 1z0-051 is a subset of 1z0-047 HOWEVER there will be more detail on some 1z0-051 topics on the 1z0-051 exam.

  • Where can I buy an authentic prartice test material for 1z0-047?

    Hello friends,
I am planning to take the 1Z0-047 (Oracle Database SQL Expert) test by next month. I would like to buy the practice test kit that would be available in India to practice for the exam.
I have searched on the internet for the test kits, and am confused about their authenticity.
    Please help.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Murli

The officially recognised Kaplan IT practice tests are here on the oracle certification website
    ( http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=208 )
Trascender is essentially a superset of SelftestSoftware. Beware of fake immitations.
About the only other independent supplier is Ucertify, pretty well everthing else google provides will be braindump. Transcender/Selftestsoftware standard will typically be higher than Ucertify IMHO.
Steve O'Hearns book also has practice exams on the cdrom.
    - I always caution against people studying for 1z0-047 without being above 1z0-051 standard first. 1z0-047 is really there for experienced SQL people.

  • How to prepare for 1z0-050 exam

Can u help me guiding how to prepare for 1z0-050 exam. It will be every much useful to me.
    Thank
    Arunkumar Gupta

There's a new guide available for this test not mentioned in the supplied thread:
"Study Guide for 1Z0-050: Oracle Database 11g: New Features for Administrators: Oracle Certification Prep"
It's available at Amazon.com. Be aware that it is very condensed -- it's a study guide rather than a textbook. It should not be the sole source of your preparation for this test. On the plus side, I don't believe it to have near the number of errors that exist in the Oracle Press book for this test. You can also borrow it for free if you have a Kindle and are an Amazon Prime member.
Full Disclosure. I am the author.

  • Training for 1z0-052???

hi everybody, for the below mentioned exam, candidates are not expected to undergo any course.
    1Z0-001 Introduction to Oracle: SQL® and PL/SQL™
But, is that mandatory to undergo the course provided by oracle for the exam
    Oracle Database 11g: Administration I 1Z0-052 ???????
In this case it is not possible for me to complete the course provided by oracle..
will i be provided a certificate for the below exam
1Z0-001 Introduction to Oracle: SQL® and PL/SQL™, even though i did not 1z0-052???
    please clarify. thanks...

    but in the page,
    http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=41&p_exam_id=1Z0_052
they have given the details for the exam 1Z0-052, in which --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Recommended Training and Preparation
Oracle Database 11g: Administration I is mentioned. looking at that link i found that candidates are required to take a course from oracle. It is recommended, NOT a must.
so, from your answer i could infer that for 1z0-001 and 1z0-052 for being an OCA, candidates are not expected to undergo the training sessions from oracle. am i right??? Correct.

  • May i go for sql expert(1Z0-047) exam or 11g sql fundamentals 1(1Z0-051)

    Hi all,
Please suggest me, may i go for sql expert(1Z0-047) Test or 11g sql fundamentals 1(1Z0-051) Test with
    oracle Administration 1(1Z0-042) Test.
Which will be the best option.
    Thanks & Regards

You may use either exam along with the Oracle Administration 1 (1Z0-042) exam if your goal is to get a 10g DBA OCA credential.
The SQL Expert exam is quite a bit more challenging than the SQL Fundamentals exam. On the other hand, the SQL Expert exam gives you a separate SQL Certified Expert credential. If you can pass it, you should take the SQL Expert exam.

  • Mock exams for 1Z0-047

Does anyone know of any official mock exams for the SQL Expert exam (1Z0-047)? All I can find are dodgy brain dump sites...
Also how realistic are the questions in the Master Exams that come with OCA Oracle Database SQL Certified Expert Exam Guide (Exam 1Z0-047) (Osborne Oracle Press Series) - Steve O'Hearn? The questions at the end of each chapter seem far too simple to me and are much easier than the 7 or so sample questions on the Oracle page for this exam. Any thoughts from those who have taken the exam and used this book?

( The questions the the end of the first few chapters are trivial ... they then become more relevant ).
Well I found the book helpful and from what I can remember the practice tests helped point some gaps I had.
Typically I think I find real exams sometimes need a bit longer than that on some of the practice tests.
I personally only use practice tests when i think i have learnt all material as a check to where i'm at and to identify gaps.
I will even leave the end of chapter tests under i think i have grasped everything.
And I will never take end of chapter tests if i have read that chapter earlier in the day!
( If i get tempted must take end of chapter tests early then i choose a reasonably meaty chapter about 1/3 into the book).
The book was enough for me .... but it may not be so for everyone ... we can be different and start from different places.
Someone mentioned they got rhu the test easily in an hour .... well i was pushing time the whole way through!
