Which 845G Max-L bios version are you running?

Before I flash my 845G Max-L bios from v1.1 to v1.4, I
thought I'd post a message asking what bios version are the owners of the 845G Max-L board are currently running.
I noticed that v1.4 fixes 'CPU microcode', but I don't believe that Intel would leave it to MSI to update the CPU (P4) microcode!  What does v1.4 really fix?

I've never flashed an AMI bios (only a Phoenix bios on another computer) but I have two questions .....
I'm currently running WinXP Home with 4 partitions
primary, 2nd, 3rd partitions ( C: D: E: ) are formatted as NTFS, but the 4th partition ( F: ) is FAT.
Should I just copy the amifl827.exe and A6580IMS.140
to the FAT formatted  F: partition, reboot using Win98 floppy and flash from the F: partition OR should I just copy them to the ramdisk and run from the ramdisk?
Will amifl827 try to access my C: partition and flake out because it is formatted as NTFS or does it just do it's thing from the partition I'm flashing from and ignore all the other partitions?
Copy the bios files onto a floppy disk and flash from there

  • Which is the latest BIOS version for Satellite L30-113 (PSL 33)?

    Hi everyone,
Could someone please tell me which is the letest BIOS version for my laptop since I have never upgarde it?
Also how do I install it and how do I check what is my bios version now?
    Thank you in advance

First of all the BIOS update is not necessary if your notebook functions correctly.
    But back to your questions;
On the Toshiba European driver page you will find all available drivers and also the newest available BIOS. At this time it seems to be a 3.10-WIN version
How to find out the BIOS version?
This is very easy you have to access the BIOS and then you could see the BIOS version.
To access the BIOS you have to press the F2 button immediately after notebook was started.

  • Are you running 4 GB?!

With the recent AMD price dump I am planning to give my old Diamond some more umph with a x2 4600+ and some more memory.
After reading several posts in here I am a hesitant to go for 4 GB. I have XP-64 so I should be able to see all the memory. But according to the posts it is a bit fifty-fifty if there will be an performance penalty with all 4 banks filled; DDR400->DDR333, 1T->2T etc
Some posts states that the modules have to be single sided; but I have found nothing else on the net that backs that statement.
And besides looking at the different manufactorers pages I can't find this information!!
    Been looking at:
    Corsair TWINX2048-3500LLPRO
    Corsair TWINX2048-4000PT
    So I need advice...
Are you running 4 GB? at what speeds? which memory?
    Thanks

    Jan,
Let me say again, and this is a proven fact:
Adding more RAM when you comp is not using the RAM you currently has, does 0 for performance and in some cases slow the comp down.
    Take Care,
    Richard
    Very true...
I seem to remember reading somewhere that BF2's "sweet spot" was at 2GB anyway. Any more, as Richard & others said, seriously impacts performance due to the memory controller limitation when all slots are occupied - that's an AMD thing, not mobo related.
Allegedly it IS possible to run 4GB at rated speed but you need single sided RAM to do it - but when's the last time you saw a single sided 1GB RAM stick?
You can always see if you need that extra RAM for anything else by observing the page file usage under the "Performance" tab in Task Manager while you're doing whatever. If it exceeds the amount of installed RAM, then the extra expense my be worth it in your case.

  • Error: X "does not have permission to write to the application's directory! Are you running off a disk image? If not, ask your system administrator for help."

I have received to following error from at least three different applications when they have attempted to auto-update recently: X "does not have permission to write to the application's directory! Are you running off a disk image? If not, ask your system administrator for help."
I am not running off a disk image and I have admin privileges... Not sure what the problem is, but it just started happening (a week or two ago) and I have never previously had a problem with these applications auto-updating.  I have repaired permissions and attempted other "fixes" found on the interweb, but nothing works.  Also, this is only happening on my iMac (27" Intel i5) and not my MacBook Pro (17" Intel i5) -- both are running Lion.  Please help!

If you updated using the default install (merge) from before Tiger, you may be seeing an issue that we saw when Leopard first came out last year.
Not sure of the fix - it was not simple - but if you search back in these forums you might find something that will help. I believe it deals with the numbers assigned to accounts (501, etc).
If you open your Accounts Preferences and unlock the padlock, right-click Advanced Options and read your User ID and Group ID. Let us know what they are.
Now, in the other user admin account, do the same thing.
One of the real experts who knows much more about this than I may be able to then help.
And be sure to check out this article

  • Which nvidia driver version are you using?

Because graphic card becomes more important in Premiere Pro (CS 4.2),  I wonder which nvidia driver is working really stable for you. In some forums people tell of nonstable versions after 19x.xx. Which version do you recommend actually? BTW, I'm using a 9600GT.
    Thanks

I'm using 195.62, which is current on the nvidia site and all is well.

  • Z87 MPower max ac Bios version

So I bought a Z87 Mpower max ac back around christmas time, I've been slowly buying parts for it, now with just the cpu to get, so I can't boot it up to check the bios version. I was wondering whether it's possible that my board has the 1.7 update to support haswell refresh (I plan on getting the 4790k) considering the manufacture date for the board was march 2014 and the bios update to support H-R came out late february 2014. I know it's unlikely, but it would make life a lot easier not having to buy a cheap celeron just to update the bios.

S/N can roughly tell BIOS version your board would have. But still you will need older Haswell chip to flash to latest BIOS. You could ask IT services in your area to flash it for you or send it to MSI for flashing. Lastly, you can borrow a CPU from friend.
    >>How to contact MSI.<< if required
Okay, so I'll still likely need a cheap celeron to flash a new bios. Besides the month and year, I assume the S/N can't help much more with what version it has?

  • How large of a external monitor are you running?

What is the largest size monitor and resolution you guys are running on a imac g5 isight ( if you have one). I want to see how large I can go.

I think it might be fine for showing video. Probably not good for computing purposes, where it has to display things like text. An HDTV of that size would be 1080p, which is 1920x1080. So even if you could use the whole display, it would not be the native resolution. Most 23" to 24" displays are 1920x1200, which is the same resolution as the Intel 24" iMac models. Again, even if you could use the whole display, it would be fuzzy because its not the native resolution.
And the output is VGA, not adaptable to HDMI or DVI (digital) like on Intel iMacs, so the HDTV or computer display would need to have VGA input. I know someone who has a 19" display that is native 1440x900, and has both DVI and VGA inputs. It's a Samsung 906BW. He likes it because the pixels are not too small; helps with his vision. I think that's about as large as they come at a native 1440x900, and that's only two inches bigger than the iMac's built-in display.
You're probably better off putting the funds for a display toward a used, new, or refurb Intel iMac (or maybe a Mac mini).

  • What operating system version are you using ?

For the last few weeks I have been using v5.0.0.592
Very impressed with it I must say

As to the issue with the duration of the adjustment layer, it's initial duration is defined by the Still Image Default Duration setting on the General tab of the Preferences dialog. If that's set to 1 Frame, then you can address this by changing that setting and then creating a new adjustment layer. Or else you can add the short adjustment layer to your timeline and then trim it out to the desired duration. My preferred way to do so is to select the out point, park the playhead where you want to stretch it to, and press "E."

  • What flash version are you all using? (RE:Browsing and Performance)

Curious if anyone is having any luck sticking to older versions of Flash or earlier versions of firefox/safari/camino?
My Powerbook is mainly a browsing/reading machine now, but even the odd embedded clip will take ages to load, and playing simple games on youplay will push the cpu usage pretty high...

My Firefox uses Flash V10.0 r12 and works fine.

  • What memory are you running in your KT6 Delta?

I am looking at upgrading my memory. I am going for 1GB of pc3200 with decent latency. Please post your memory configuration as i want to know what works with the KT6 Delta before making a purchase
I also wonder if i can use dual-channel memory even thought the board doesnt support it. So i wont need to upgrade my memory when i get a new dual-channel board.
    I would like to stay under/around $200

    HyperX as per sig.
Don't understand your question "can I use dual channel memory even though the board doesn't support it." Makes no sense. Since the board doesn't support it the answer is surely no.
BUT, if you mean "can I use 2 sticks which I'd normally buy for dual channel memory" then the answer is definitely yes. There's nothing special about dual channel memory kits - they are just matched pairs, that's all. The Delta series has 3 DIMM slots so go ahead and buy 2 sticks.
Apologies if I've got the wrong end of the stick!

  • What Resolution are you running your MBP-R at?

I got mine last Tuesday, I "Listened" to the fact that Apple has a "retina optimized' setting, right in the middle.  While Safari looks amazing at that setting, Firefox, safari, word and excel while looking VERY good are not as sharp.  Since then, I kept upping the resolution, now at the max, 1920 x 1200.  The non-optimized programs seem a LOT sharper, and life is good!  (Plus, I have oodles more screen real-estate.  I am 62 and prolly not the sharpest eyes, so wondering what others are finding works for them?
    Bruce

    Hi Bruce,
Everyones eyes are different, use what you like best. The retina display is awesome, and I find myelf changing the res. to fit a particular application, if I will be using it for a while., ei. flight sim, CAD, regular Apple stuff...
I say just enjoy what is best for you.

  • Are you running Financials on Solaris ? Help

If you are running Oracle financials on Unix/Solaris could you please respond with the output of this iostat command.
    iostat -xPne 20 | nawk '( /r\/s/ || $1 > 200 ) && ! /:/'
    Thanks

That's what I was thinking, too. Of course, cheaper is better (for now), as I'm not entirely sure I want to invest a ton of money into video and editing gear just yet. I'm somewhat leery, because this will be the first time I'll own any kind of Mac gear. I've had experiences with them in the past, but I'm primarily a PC guy.
I like AVID's software, but they're incredibly expensive. Some of their programs even require separate pieces of hardware, which is not really helpful if I want to take a camera and laptop on the road. Mobility becomes an issue. I am quite impressed with FCS2. I've heard many good things about it, so I thought I'd give it a try.
If I don't like it, I'm reassured by the high resale value of Mac gear.

  • What system config are you running for xMII 12.1.x?

If you are running xMII 12.1.x, can you please briefly explain your setup?  I presume you are running Windows 64-bit, but what kind of processor, how much memory, and how many users?  Is the performance/response time good?

    Todd,
The documents here on v12.1 performance may be useful as they go into performance numbers, performance monitor log analysis, and NetWeaver CE system settings.

  • How many Mbps are you running?

We pay for a 50/50, but we often get speeds a little bit higher. It's pretty nice :)

I had an add pop on the side of spiceworks for 10Gbps business internet. Immediatley the following popped into my head:Holy Crap! I would sh*t a brick to have that internet! I would literally force a brick out of my sphincter to have those kinds of speeds! It got me to thinking about the kinds of speeds we have in my area (desert of west Texas). The hospital at which I work has a 100Mbps fiber circuit, but most home users are running 4Mbps DSL! We are moving to a 500Mbps fiber circuit soon, but what kinds of speeds is everyone else running on? Post up your speed tests!P.S. Yes the upload speed on mine is embarrassing, but we are having some issues at the moment.

  • What Anti-Virus software are you running under Windows 8?

    Hello,
Various anti-malware vendors are still going through the Windows 8 certification process for their software with Microsoft, however, many of them already have products that work under Windows 8.  Two testing organizations, AV-Comparatives and AV-Test, have been keeping track of which products work under Windows 8, and the results can be found on their respective web sites:
AV-Comparatives:  Windows 8 Approved Security Products
AV-Test: Security Products for Windows 8 (Home User)
I would recommend checking each list frequently, as they seem to be getting updated on a daily basis.
