Tylerdowner, as a moderator, one would think that, prior to adjusting comments/solutions, especially when not having a Mac, you would do more research (bet you know someone with a Mac, to duplicate problem), or pass responding on to a moderator who does have a Mac (I am amazed that you are even a moderator on Mac problems/situations, if you only have access to a PC). Had the solutions above worked, I would not have needed to figure out another solution (we all know the newest release of anything is the most secure). Finally I am open to any fixes (tested) that you can provide, that improve upon mine. As a moderator, maybe you have pull with the Foxtab and/or Adobe people to get them to work out compatibility, and lastly, maybe add a warning at the Foxtab add-ons page, after verifying the problem yourself, with an associate's/friend's Mac.

Adobe Flash Player says not installed when it is.

Adobe Flash Player shows as installed on the primary Admin account (and works there) all other Admin and regular user accounts say it isn't installed.
I have tried installing as various users and Administrator status, but I get the same response.

I am new to MAC, but can't fathom how this could be Apples fault. Unfortunately, Adobe support requires Adobe Flash Player to access help content.

To find the folder I went to Finder > Library > Internet Plug-ins.
The folder is empty and says 0 files. I am not currently on an Admin log-in, but I'm used to files showing regardless. When installing, I am asked for the Admin account and log in info before the file will load.
I downloaded the latest flash player from Adobe this morning.
Virtual Drive: What I am used to being an installation file in Windows shows up as a disk drive icon on my desktop. I have to "eject disk" to get rid of it. I thought it was just a "MAC" thing. Other software loaded this way, but also had me drag an icon to the Applications folder. Adobe does not.
I am starting to wonder if there is a file sharing issue that isn't allowing me to see some software. I noticed I also do not see data in 'Public' when I know I added pictures there in another account. I can't remember changing any settings on my MBA. I have only had it a month and have been afraid of messing up my first MAC.

Adobe Flash Player 10, when installed, closes the whole computer when it is used to play any clip from U Tube or other source. I uninstalled it and there was no further trouble but, of course, I cannot view the clip. If I reinstall it the same problem persists. I have contacted my 'computer guru' but his comment is that many of his clients have the same problem but it appears to be a problem with Adobe however many other friends have put in the version 10 Flash Player and have no problems. I do not appear to have any other problems with the computer such as viruses etc and it is scanned very day for such items. On both IE8 and Firefox. Win 7 32 bit on IBM T42 - 1GB ram.
Old laptop I know but the 10.1.x.x Flash Players worked just fine. Problem started with 10.2.152.26 flash player.
Now BBC TV live and iPlayer work just fine, however YouTube does not - audio but no video. Just a black rectangle where the video should be.
Right click to get the menu and "settings" is greyed out. However select the pop-out option and the video plays. Right click on the pop-out and "settings" is available. So deselect "enable hardware acceleration", close the pop-out and refresh the window (F5) and now YouTube videos play. Switch hardware acceleration back on and now they don't.

If I try to start the installation using the Adobe Flash Player.pkg in the „Resources“ folder I cannot chose my hard drive to install flash.

I think this exception is thrown if I click on my hard drive’s symbol in the installer.
I have the same problem when I try to install Microsoft’s last Office update. Maybe there is a connection?
I tried several older versions of the Adobe Flash Player installer, but they didn't work as well.
Perhaps we have some kind of "Mavericks" problem here?

Finally found the issue here:

Somehow a empty file /System/Library/CoreServices/ServerVersion.plist has been created.
If I understand this right this file is only needed if you use Mac OS X Server.
As suggested in the support forum I deleted the file (renamed it to _ServerVersion.plist) and after that every installation, including Adobe Flash Player and Office 2011 update worked!

Sorry, when I try to install Flash Player 17.0.0.134, it will begin initialing, then stop saying "Installation Failed" and to press "Finish". It then directs me to troubleshooting. I made sure I quit Safari as per their instructions, but have not gone as far as "uninstalling" my current Flash Player 16.0.0.305, because it looks like I will screw something up in the process.

I really appreciate your assistance.... I installed firefox. I have MAC version 10.5.8... I think I should have stated that on my prior post......sorry.
The version of firefox I installed on this mac works until I attempt to use a app that requires flash. I updated the flash player with the correct version that firefox requires.
to no avail will the plugin update. when attempting to update the plugins, I get a message from firefox telling me that I do not have the required system in the mac in order to update the plugins.
So...I am going to continue to investigate and analyze where I am going wrong in my attempts to reinstall adobe flash on this mac....
I will keep you apprised to my outcome. Any further assistance that you may possibly provide me would be Great!!

Flash Player won't install on my Mac

I'm using Mac OS 10.7.5 Snow Leopard and while installing Flash Player it stops and tells me to quit Dashboard Clinet. I've gone to force quit and have stopped everything on there other than the install program and I keep getting the same thing. Is there a way to stop the Dashboard? When I open it there does not appear to be a button to do so.

I feel your pain and have a solution that should work. I have been battling this for several weeks now, finally gave up, and wrapped up a call with an Apple engineer an hour or so ago. Come to find out, regardless of what the O/S tells you in Activity Monitor about Safari, Dashboard, or both "not" running, these processes are in fact being called. It seems that, at least in my case, on an up-to-date OS X / Safari combo, and with The Weather Channel widget installed, you will never get the newest Adobe Flash Player update to install. As soon as you remove The Weather Channel widget, the Adobe Flash update process will again work normally. It makes absolutly no sense, but I and the Apple engineer were able to reproduce the fix on my two systems and completely reproduce the issue and the fix on his. Not certain where the "blame" for the issue rests, but I suspect this is a issue with The Weather Channel widget - or at least how it is interacting with the O/S and Safari. I suggest checking for any installed/active widgets that grab/stream any soft of content via the web, removing them, and re-running the Flash updater. I hope this helps. Please reply to let me know if this did the trick for you too.
