Which albums is a photo in?

In iPhoto, there is a Search box in the lower-right corner of the iPhoto window. That helps me search for a photo by name. If I have View -> Film Rolls enabled, then I can see what film roll the photo belongs to. That's great.
However, it's not what I'm trying to accomplish.
Does anybody know if there is a way to find out which iPhoto albums the photo has been put into?
That is, if I add a photo to a number of albums, is there a way to find out which albums it belongs to?

At this point there is no way. That would make a good feedback subject at http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html. The more hits the better.

How do I see which albums a specific photo in Moments/Collections have been added to?

In addition, it seems like Photos distinguish between the way pictures is managed in 'Albums' vs. 'Shared albums'. It seems like, removing a picture in Moments/Collections will remove the picture in the corresponding Albums (which I think is great) but not removing the picture in 'Shared albums'. In other words, a duplicate picture seems to be created when adding a picture to a shared album (instead of a reference picture like for 'Albums'). Am I correct? This is very confusing.
In that case, I assume I need to remove my original picture each time I add a picture to a 'Shared album' in order to avoid duplicates and reach some kind of "master" management of my pictures?

  • Displaying which albums a particular photo is in

I have about 8000 photos in my library. Some are duplicates. I want to eliminate the duplicates but I'm not sure which of the duplicates are already in one of my albums. I don't want to delete the one that is already in an album and I don't want to go hunting through all my albums to make sure which duplicate I can safely delete.
I realize that my library is small comparatively, but going through 8K photos isn't exactly easy.
Is there a way to display which albums a particular photo is in? In itunes, if you right click on a song in the library it has an option to "show in playlist" that lists the playlists that a song is in. Is there anything like that in iphoto?
    Thanks!!

    No there isn't.

  • How to find out in which albums a library photo is represented

Basically my problem is stated in the question, I'm trying to find out in which albums certain library/event photo's are represented. Since I'm moving from albums to events this would be a great help in naming the events.
    Thanks,

There is currently now way in iPhoto to do this.

  • Which album is my photo in?

    Hello all,
Hopefully this is a simple question. When looking through the photo library, how do I tell which album, if any, a particular photo is currently in?
    Thanks for your help,
    Scott

Hi, Scott. In iPhoto 4 (and, I presume, earlier versions), you have to open the albums and look for the picture in them. It's not very convenient, but there it is.
Of course if you've constructed your albums so each one has some theme or subject, you probably won't have to look through many different albums to find all the ones in which a given picture appears.
I don't know of any way to query iPhoto for a listing of the album(s) in which a specified photo is included.

  • How to find out which album(s) a photo is in?

Apart from the right-mouse click and then "remove from album ...".

In organizer, go to 'View' menu and mark check the option 'Details'
Now on the right bottom of the image there will be a album icon, hover your mouse on that icon and it will show you which album the image belongs to .

  • What album is my photo in?

I know this is a bit backwards, but I'm looking for a way to tell which album(s) my photos are currently in. I imported a bunch recently and they aren't appearing in my (album is not any) smart album. Which I gather means they've somehow ended up in an album against my will. I'd love to figure out which one...Grrrr

    For the record..
Dragging photos from the desktop to the "Photos" Library doesn't by default place them in an album or something right?
I've searched through all my albums and can't find these photos...yet they're still not appearing in my (album isn't any) smart folder.
iPhoto never "just works". Endlessly frustrating...

  • Finding out in which albums I put my photo

    Library getting bigger and bigger.
To me it would be very useful sometimes to find out in which album a certain foto has been included, already. I tend to forget.
Since there is a database concept behind iphoto this should be easy. But how? Any clue?
Click a foto in the Library, press a key and there is a list of all Albums where the photo is included. Can even select an Album and press delete if I dont want the photo to be there anymore. Am I dreaming?
    Loris

If you named your photos instead of just the default number from the camera you would be able to search for it.

  • Identifying which albums a photo is in

Is there a way to know which albums a photo has already been added to? For example - if I have one photo in my library in several albums, is there a way to get a list of which albums that photo is in?
    Thanks,
    Lori

    Hi Lori,
Not an easy way, but there is a way.
Highlight each album, select all in the album, give a keyword for that album to all the images.
    Do this for each album.
You have to keep the keywords short but descriptive for the album
Now when you view the images in the library you can see by what keyword is assigned what albums they are in.
This is also a good feedback to send to Apple for this feature. I have already sent feedback.

  • HT3149 When I click on a photo, is there a way to see where else it is located, like in which albums it is in?

When I click on a photo, is there a way to see where else it is located, like in which albums it is in?

In iPhoto '11 you can show the event a photo is in or show the image file in the Finder:
You can select a photo and click the triangle in the lower right corner. Then select "Show event".
To show the image file in the Finder use the "File" menu in iPhoto: File > Reveal in Finder.
But there is no direct way back to the albums. To find the photo in the albums you could use unique keywords for each album or flag the photo, then filter the abum you are interested in.

Photoshop Elements questions are best answered in the Photoshop Elements Forum here, but I do have a good working knowledge of Photoshop Elements as well as Premiere Elements. So, let me see if my answer here will help.
Photoshop Elements 11 and Premiere Elements 11 are standalone programs and each has an Elements Organizer. When they are both on the same computer, they possess the intergration perk of sharing the same catalog/database.
Thumbnails that you see in the Elements Organizer 11 (with or without albums) trace back to the hard drive save location for the originals. Thumbnail information is stored in a database/catalog.
When you decide to delete a thumbnail from the catalog, you also get the option to delete the original on the hard drive as well as the thumbnail in the Organizer (with or without albums).
    To answer your question
If it is decided that the photo is not required in a particular album any longer, how can you decide with certainty whether the photo can be deleted from the catalogue and the drive?
It depends on how you respond to the Confirm Deletion from Catalog dialog and that the program does not malfunction in some unexpected and unexplained way. Right now I am fighting a problem with the Photoshop Elements 11 Elements Organizer wherein it refuses to delete certain thumbnails and hits me with an "Unexpected Error has occurred" message. Still working out that matter.
Are you referring to a situation where you have the same photo in several different albums and you delete the photo from just one of the albums? The message that you get at such a time states deletion from the catalog. I have found that in such a case, the thumbnail representing that photo is deleted from all the albums containing it since they all trace back to one hard drive saved original. If I do not select "Also delete selected item(s) from the hard disk", then I still have the original in its hard drive save location, and it can be reimported in the Elements Organizer at another time if needed.
I am not sure that I picked up on the "...with certainty.." part of your question. So, please let me know if I have targeted your question.
    Thanks.

  • Photo in which album?

Does anyone knows how to find out to which album a certain image belongs?
Aperture can "show in Finder" or "show in project" but, as far as I know, not "show in album(s)".
For me this is a serious issue. How to know in which album(s) a picture has been stored?
    Help is very much appreciated!
    Rudy

The use of keywords is a good idea. The script I wrote while a bit slow works and will show all the albums an image is in.
The major drawback to a keyword solution is that the keyword must be added manually, there is no automatic keyword addition.
One problem I've always has with regular albums in Aperture is that there is no way to add a selection to an existing album other than dragging. You can add a selection to a new album but not to an existing album.
To overcome this I created a set of scripts that implement a Target Album/Quick collection paradigm. An album is designated as the destination album and then the selection can be directly added to that album. The script could easily be changed to add the album name as a keyword to the selection as the images are added to the album.
If your interested see Aperture Service: Target Album/Quick Collection
BTW the show in album script is at Aperture: Search albums for a specific image

  • In the last 36 hours my photos have jumbled within various albums. Random photos have attached at the end of an unrelated album, old photos have appeared again on Recently Added, some photos are missing but still on "collections". No date order

Within the last 36 hours my photo albums have turned into a real jumbled mess. Random photos have appeared at the bottom of my Recently Added album. In most cases it's a copy of a photo that was taken months or years ago so now it appears twice.. 200 random photos have appeared in an unrelated album.  Some photos are missing completely. The date order is correct in some places and then it goes back and forth over the months and years. The "collections" appears to be okay.  This morning when I went into the photo app About 50 photos that were permanently deleted 3 months ago reappeared on the Recently Added Album which  I deleted again.  if  I delete these irreplaceable photos from the unwanted album it will delete the photo completely. Help please - this is so annoying and frustrating. I hate to think when I turn the iPad on tmoor row what else will have changed .

    Quick Update:
I usually have my Mac laptop up with Messages running on it.  As you know, it will receive the same messages you send/receive on your iPhone.  I thought all my old photos would be there too, but they have all disappeared as well except for the last few.
Messages is supposed to archive all old photos to  a directory called ~/Library/Messages/Attachments.  On my mac, this was a 0 byte file that was created back in Jan 2014.  As a result, none of the old photos got saved on my Messages app either.  I looked at a Time Machine Backup and it has been the case since September (no earlier backups available).  So, it's unclear how long this issue has been going on for my Messages app and how related it is to my iPhone problem.
In any case, if any of you use Messages, you may be able to recover your photos in that directory provided it didn't get trashed like mine did.  I moved the file and created a new Attachments directory.  Upon relaunch, Messages started properly storing new photos in there again.
Either there was a really terrible bug in the Apple software or something malicious has happened.
P.S.  I'm running OS 10.9.5 Mavericks.   There is a thread of people with this problem on Yosemite here:
No pictures are shown in Message om Mac
This seems like a pretty seriously terrible bug.  I will be talking again to AppleCare on Wednesday and I hope they can escalate this.

  • Creating Albums in the Photo App

How do I create albums in the photo app on my iPad if I don't have a Mac or pc to sync to?

With iOS 5+ you should get an Edit button at the top of the Albums screen in the Photos app which lets you create new albums, and you can then copy your photos into those new albums - the photos are only copied or pointed to by those new albums, so if you delete the original photo on your iPad then it is also deleted from all albums that you've copied it into.

  • Albums in iCloud photo library

Can I create albums in iCloud Photo Library that are visib across all my devices?
ALso, can I add photo albums from my PC(not taken on iOS device) to my library?

When I drag albums into the correct order in Photos for Mac, they show up in reverse order on the iOS devices. Thus there seems to be a bug in either iOS 8.3, OS 10.10.3 or iCloud Photo Library.
The browser version of iCloud Photo Library (icloud.com) is currently updating. I am waiting to see which way my albums are sorted there.
There is no promise at all, or documented anywhere, how sorting of library items will sync across the devices. This has been haphazard when syncing iPhoto Libraries - synced faces not sorted, synced events  not sorted, etc. So it is at least a step in the right direction, in Photos that the albums are sorted at all.
