Which Apple Care Do I Need?

Do I need to get both the regular Apple Care and the Plus version for my iPhone? What's the difference between the two plans?

Apple care plus is more than Applecare ( if they still offer Applecare), as it contains the provision of accidental damage replacement.
Applcare plus is EXACTLY the same as Applecare -with the exceptions that it contains the provision of accidental damage replacement and that it is more expensive-  due to the accidental damage coverage.
The $49 is what you would pay for each accidental damage replacement.  It is NOT hte cost of Applecare plus.  Apple care plus is $99.

  • Which Apple Care Plan?

I bought my Marbook Pro 13 inch sometime Sep 2009. I'm trying to get an Apple Care package but not sure which to buy. The costs are different: S$588 vs S$388. Any idea?

    Thanks!

The more expensive plan is for the 15" and 17" MBP models. The less expensive plan is for MacBook, MacBook Air, and 13" MacBook Pro models.

  • Which Apple Care plan do I buy for my MacBook?

I fudged on buying Apple Care when I purchased my laptop in 8/06, but with the "complimentary" warranty running out, I want to sign up. Yes, I know my Apple Store or Apple online will sell me the correct one but I'm shopping around on Amazon and eBay for cheaper prices and the model numbers quoted there don't seem to match those here: http://support.apple.com/specs/macbook/macbook.html
I thought I was MA519LL/A. Can someone clarify?
    MacBook 13" White 2.0 GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.10)   512 memory cache

There is only one AppleCare plan for a MacBook, so if the product listing says it's for a MacBook, it should be fine. Just make sure it's for a MacBook, not the MacBook Pro. Here's the link to the plan on Amazon:

  • Which apple care is for mavbook pro 2010 mid version?

can let me know which one is the correct one for 2010 mid version?

As far as I know, any version of AppleCare will cover any of the appropriate model.
It appears that MD013FE/A is correct, but if you want to double check, you can contact AppleCare Australia at (61) 1-300-321-456 or at www.apple.com/au/support/.

  • Apple Care and 1st generation MBP-Should you get it?

So, how many of you have got Apple Care?
I have a 1st generation MBP (I got one a few weeks after they came out).
Mine still has the whine, but I’m able to silence it with the mirror widget which I’ve been using for nearly a year. (I realize this can now be fixed, but I can’t send my computer off for repair for any length of time).
$349.00 for Apple Care is a lot of money—heck, these days you can buy a brand new PC laptop for this kind of money (albeit a bad one, but whatever).
I’m a little worried of having problems because my MBP is a first generation and it has had the problems we all have heard about on this forum (heat, whine, bad battery, warped lid, etc).
My thinking is, if I DON’T get Apple Care and I need to get my MBP fixed, and it costs MORE than $349, wouldn’t it just be worth it to get a new computer if it needs THAT kind of work? AND, who here thinks that there could possibly be a repair that would warrant $349?
How many of you people with 1st generation MBPs have had problems and actually utilized Apple Care? I know a lot of us are getting close to the ONE YEAR mark and need to make a decision if we’re going to thrown down $349 or not.
Just looking for good insight, knowledge, statistics and/or opinions on the subject to help make the best decision.
    Thanks.

I went for the Apple Care contract on my original PB17" that I got in 2003 and was glad I did. I bought the contract, oh, about 8 months into the first year's warranty.
I never had super major problems with it, but everything little thing that happened made it worthwhile.
    For example:
    (1) I started hearing "clicks" coming from my hard drive about 18 months into ownership. Apple replaced the HD with no questions asked.
    (2) I had some problems with the power adapter after about 2 1/2 years. Apple sent me a new one.
I don't know if it came to $300 worth of stuff or not, but it probably did in total. And it was reassuring.
I have a question about those extended credit card warranties though, since somebody mentioned it.
I bought my new MBP with a credit card that offers "one extra year on any product that is warrantied for three years or less".
I assume that means that I get two years now instead of 1 on my standard warranty.
But does that also mean I would get FOUR years instead of 3 if I go for the Apple Care warranty?
And how do those usually work? Like if I have to replace the LCD I shell out, what? A thousand dollars and the credit car company pays me back?

  • Is an airport express bought after an iMac has the same protection coverage as the iMac apple care?

Hi, I'm planning to buy an airport express in Thailand. I currently have an iMac+apple care which apple care terms states that the protection will cover my airport express as long as the iMac is covered. The apple care guy here said that, the airport express will only be covered if u bought it at the same time as the iMac which is not what the term stated at all. They called all of the apple people in Thailand which still concluded with the same answer for me. Anyone have an idea?

The information you got from Apple Care is correct. Apple will provide coverage for the AirPort base station or Time Capsule if it is purchased with a Mac. Otherwise they do not offer coverage just for the base stations themselves.

  • Can I buy an Apple care for a second hand machine which has recently expired its service coverage

can I buy an Apple care for a second hand machine which has recently expired its service coverage

While I don't know about the second hand machine consideration, Applecare needs to be bought during the first year while standard warranty coverage is in effect. Once that expires, you can't buy Applecare for a system.

  • Need to buy Apple Care within 60 days of purchase date?

Since when you need to buy Apple Care within 60 days of purchase date? I thought you can do it before the end of one-year limited warranty, no?

    shotarobkk wrote:
Wrong. I don't think so that it was like that since forever like you said. It used to be that you can buy the Apple Care before the end of one-year limited warranty. It's changed as well for iPad, but stay the same for iMac and the monitors.
No, sorry, but AppleCare+ has always been a limited purchase option.  You may be confusing extending AppleCare, which only covered technical support for an additional year, but since AppleCare+ covers replacements now, when it was first introduced, it started with a 60 day buy it or not be able to buy it option.

  • Apple care plan- need some advice..

hi i just want to ask if is it necessary that my name should be on the apple care plan? coz i was trying to purchased an apple care plan in ebay.. but im not sure if i can use it tho..need some help.. thank you..

A used AppleCare plan cannot be transferred to a new machine unless you own both machines and you make the transfer within 30 days of purchasing the original machine:
(ii) With Transfer From Original Covered Equipment to New Covered Equipment. You may make a one time, permanent transfer of the coverage under the Plan to a new Apple product that is owned and purchased by you within thirty (30) days of the Covered Equipment purchase. The new product must be eligible for coverage under the Plan and at the time of transfer both products must be covered under the manufacturer’s one (1) year limited warranty.  Apple will issue a Plan Confirmation for the new product, which will then become the Covered Equipment. When notifying Apple of the transfer, you must provide the Plan Agreement Number, the serial numbers and Proof of Purchase of the products being transferred by sending or faxing, where available, notice of transfer to Apple as set forth in the section immediately above.

  • I could not get my iPhone 5 which purchased in Australia repaired by apple in the US. Guys from apple retail store verified a replacement for me and asked to call apple care. However, apple care said they cannot get it fixed nor repaired.

My iPhone 5 got some defects and I went to a apple reatil store yesterday. The guy from the genius bar told me that he verified a replacement for me. And I need to call 1-800-apple care to finish that process. I called apple care and one of the senior supervisors told me that I have to send it back to Australia (where I bought this iPhone) to get it repaired. Turns out I could not solve the problem after a apple store vist and several calls. I just want to know if there any way to solve this. This iPhone is a factory unlocked one that purchased in an apple retail store in Melbourne at the day it was first released. And my experience today is not what I can tell as fair. I will be really appreciate for any helps and advices. Thanks.

Warranty on iPhone is not international, but valid only in country of
original sale. Since you purchased the iPhone in Australia, your warranty
is valid only in Australia. You must either personally return the iPhone
to Australia for evaluation and possible replacement or sent it to someone
in Australia to take into Apple for the evaluation. Apple will not accept
international shipments for repair nor will Apple ship out of the country
    after replacement.
Sorry to be the bearer of this news, but it is the way iPhone warranty and
    replacement has always worked.

  • I have 2 iphoto libraries but one is lost, missing, cannot seem to find it... tried an apple care person - they were no help - we use Time Machine for external backup... but cannot find my older iPhoto library! I desperately need some help!

I have recently had something really odd happen within iphoto.  My photos from May-Oct 2013 appeared to be missing from my primary Iphoto library.
last night I was trying to find any additional Iphoto libraries on my Imac... I could not find them... but then somehow the May-Oct 2013 library showed up and now I cannot find the "current" primary Iphoto library.   I sought help from apple care today but no solutoin from them after 2 hours trying.  I have timemachine that backs up my Imac each day to an external hard drive.   When I open Iphoto while holding down the "option" key - it lets me choose which Iphoto library... but only (1) library comes up...  I can't figure out what happened - but it seems that I must have more than one Iphoto library because yesterday I was able to see all my photos except the "gap in dates" from May-Oct 2013.  Today - I can only open a Library called Iphoto2014... and it contains the photos from the gap in dates.  I can't "see" any other options to open photos... but just yesterday there appeared to be a different library available.
Any advice or steps i should take to locate my missing photos - would be soooooo much appreciated.

  • I use Pro Logic 9 and see that to upgrade to Pro Logic X I need to buy the full package again. Does apple offer special conditions for their Apple clients ? Are users of apple care protection plan better served ?

I use Pro Logic 9.1.8.  and see that to upgrade to Pro Logic X I need to buy the full package again. Does apple offer special conditions for their Apple clients ? Are users of apple care protection plan better served ?

Old saying applies here most of the time......
"If it ain't broken, don't fix it"
I choose to use LP9 with Snow Leopard myself (10.6.8 and 9.1.6) for most of my commercial work simply because I find that combo very stable and provides the best overall performance for my setups here... but I am also using LPX with Mavericks as part of my client support and that works fine too although with a drop in performance due to the heavier demands made on the hardware by the newer OS X and LPX graphic routines for example..

  • If I buy an Apple Airport Extreme Base Station and I have an Optus Cable internet. Do I really need an Apple Care Protection? or I don't have to?

    Hi I'm from Australia.
If I buy an Apple Airport Extreme Base Station and I have an Optus Cable internet. Do I really need an Apple Care Protection? or I don't have to?

Any specific recommendations for a standalone ADSL modem though?
Always a good idea to use the modem that your service provider supplies or recommends....often free....since you know that it will be supported in the event of connection difficulties.
I have made the mistake of choosing the "best" modem based on test reports....only to find out later that the ISP would not offer any support when I was having connection difficulties.
The ISP blamed the modem. The modem support folks blamed the ISP.

  • Do I really need to purchase apple care.. ?

    Hi..
Been using my macbook for about a year now with no issues at all and just got a reminder call from the local apple store suggesting me to purchase the apple care before the 1 year official warranty expires.
Well, my mac is always in safe hands and I kind of doubt if a mac would break down so soon. Was wondering do i really should go in for apple care or should I leave it the way it is.. ? Got some big expenses coming up so don't really want to spend on anything else at the moment. Thanks in advance..:)

For a portable, I would get Applecare, regardless of the systems good care. Portables, by their nature, have alot of function squeezed into a small enclosure, and being portable adds additional opportunities for bumps and physical stresses. I've always bought Applecare for our portable systems, and have had claims on some systems and none on others. Applecare is, after all, nothing more than an insurance policy. Another thought is that some credit cards extend the manufacturers warranty, so if you paid via credit card that offers that service, Applecare may not be needed at all.
