Which apple display to get?

I am thinking of getting a 2nd display for use with my iMac. It's a mid-2010 27" iMac, so it doesn't have Thunderbolt. Apple is selling both a refurbished 27"LED display and Thunderbolt display for the same amount. Other than the possibility of compatibility with future macs, is there any reason to get one over the other?

The Thunderbolt display won't work if your iMac doesn't have Thunderbolt.

Yes, there is a 'parental controls' section under 'General' settings on the Apple TV. In there you are able to restrict movies to G rated only if you prefer using different rating systems for different countries.

Iphone 4 has a black screen which will display the apple logo for approx 10 seconds, then goes blank for 10 seconds and so on. I have tried a hard reset with power button and home button but no change. Get no response when attempting to connect to itune

iphone 4 has a black scrren which will display the apple logo and appears to be at start up but then blacks out for approx 10 seconds and then displays apple logo again. Same action over and over.
I have attempted hard reset but cannot complete. Also attempted to connect with itunes and it does not recongize device.
Device is frozen in this display loop. Have an appointment with genius bar tomorrow but it's a 2.5 hour round trip so suggestion appreciated.

Your device may need to be restored as new in iTunes (instead of restored from a back up as it seems that there is a software issue on your phone).
If your phone is not able to connect in iTunes try forcing recovery mode (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808)
* power off your phone.
* Hold the home button while connecting your phone to iTunes. You should see the connect to iTunes window and your computer should give you the recover mode alert.
*Restore your device as new. Being sure not to restore from a previous back up.
You will then want to sync your information back to your device from Outlook, iCloud, Google or wherever your information is stored.

The WBS elements are stored in the table PRPS , so please try using the conversion exit and use the data in internal format then use it in the IF condition.
Check the FM CONVERSION_EXIT_ABPSN_INPUT and CONVERSION_EXIT_ABPSN_OUTPUT

Which imacs and apple displays connect to late 2008 aluminum macbook 13 inch for use as external display?

I have a late 2008 13 inch aluminum macbook and want to purchase an iMac computer or apple display to use as an external display for it while I'm at my desk.
I can afford up to $700 for sure, maybe up to $1000 and would like one that has built in camera and audio if possible.
I'd like to know what my options are as it seems not all are compatible.
I'll mostly be doing web browsing and photo editing in Aperture.
Also wondering if it's possible to sync 2 computers so that when you make changes on one it reflects the changes in the other. Like you can with certain apps like Evernote.

Yes he is right, Snow Leopard is your first step. Once you have that you can upgrade directly to Mountain Lion if memory serves me correct. Some people were saying that Lion was a little sluggish with the aluminum MacBook but that Mountain Lion was great. Personally I had Lion on it also and didn't think it ran badly. 10.6 was still with Rosetta (the program that ran power pc apps) but this is dropped on 10.7 and up. Up until just the other day I still had the stock 2 gb of ram. The firmware update happens with Snow Leopard and up so it should come up as a software update. If not, it can be done manually as well. The ram I purchased was 60 bucks for the 8 gb. For Lion and Mountain Lion I have to agree with the above reply, that it would run alot better with at least 4 gb. If you run that many apps at once then you are going to want as much ram as you can get. If you add a solid state drive you will be amazed at the difference it will make too.

Thanks for that. Much more constructive than the last comment. It's only the restriction code I can't recall, not the access passcode. So I can currently access the device, just not age restricted content. Does that's make a difference? I also wondered if anyone knew how many attempts you get to try to get it right. Now tried 21 times and so far nothing bad has happened but I am concerned I'll eventually be completely locked out of the device. That doesn't seem in the spirit of things though. Surely it's foreseeable that a child could repeatedly try to guess the code so I can't see that it would be right to lock the device down completely in that circumstance, particularly if the access code is being typed in correctly every time.

As far as I know, Sony Ericsson Z520, like a lot of the other cell phones, doesn�t support bluetooth serial communication.

If you ask me, we have done similar project.
We are working on hobby project � our robot use J2ME cell phone as on-board brain.
And there is connection between this small robot and Linux-based PC.
Communication was done via BlueTooth (in reality we use Linux implementation of BlueTooth stack and obexftp).
BUT (!) We use Siemens S75 for this communication.
I�m afraid that Siemens is the only manufacture, which implemented serial communication over bluetooth, embedded camera and non-usb socket.
Also there are some Motorola phones, which implement serial communication over bluetooth.
But � note that all Motorola phones use USB sockets and it will not be easy for you to make connection between such a phone and the robot.
If you need just connection between cell phone and PC, then may be USB is OK too.

I installed Apple Displays Software 2.1.1, now mac won't get pass grey screen.

I installed Apple Displays Software 2.1.1 from the disk thinking I was updating my Cinema Display M8149. After the update I get the grey screen with the scrolling symbol under the apple. Can anyone help with uninstalling the update? I don't have time machine activated on my machine and I tried all the resets and that didn't work.

i have had apple tv since last april and i could play films from dvd player from mac book but for some reason this has stopped working from dvd player when i put the dvd player on apple tv i get a black and white screen i can hear the film but i cannot see it, i went to my local store and they but vlc on for me but its terrible the film always jumps every time.

This is supposed to happen, licensing issue mean that Apple can't AirPlay protected content to other devices. You might try VLC instead of Apples built in DVD player.

How do I set 23 in Apple Display luminance to 100 lux

We have a new Imac G5 and a new 23in Apple display that we need to have match our existing CRT monitors. We use an Eye One Display 2 to calibrate our monitors to 100 lux. But we have not found a way to do this with the Imac or the Apple Display since neither of these displays have monitor controls for brightness. We set the System preferences brightness level all the way down. We are getting a luminance of 188 lux. Does anyone have any suggestions to help us match our luminance of the apple display and Imac to our CRT monitors?

I have a new 20" display and it has brightness buttons on the right side which I adjust while watching my Eye-One calibrator brightness readout in the software.
Are there no brightness buttons on the right side of the 23" ? I thought the only difference between these monitors was the size. When I was calibrating I found that the brightness buttons on the side did the same thing as the Brightness slider in the Displays preference, but the slider allowed more precise adjustments.
My target brightness, which I think was 100 (can't remember though), was met when my OS X on-screen brightness bar was at about 1/4 of the way across.

Will a Macbook Pro + 24" Apple display be as good as a 24" iMac for video?

I need to buy my new Mac set up soon and am debating whether to get a 24" iMac ( either the 2.93 ghz or 3.06ghz) , or a 15" macbook Pro 2.8Ghz with a 24" Apple display. I want a 24" screen.
Aside from the obvious considerations of cost and portability, at this stage I simply want to know whether the Macbook Pro plus display combination would perform as well as the iMac? I will be using it to edit video using iMovie and FCE.
(I will also use it for photo work with maybe Aperture, music production with Logic Express but I appreciate that this is a video discussion board as this is my primary concern for now.)
Would there be any issues of heat or fan noise? (There was with my old Macbook core duo.) I have also noticed that the 24" Apple displays get a lot hotter than the iMacs. Should this be a cause for concern.
Any other reasons to favour one over the other apart from cost and portability which I will factor in once I can rate them for performance?

Either will be fine. I use a 17" MBP (mid-2008) and have no fan noise issues. I also use a 24" iMac (2.16GHz. mid-2007). They're both fine.
