This is probably rather a question for the openHAB 2 mailing list. But to answer: Jetty is used in openHAB 2 as you can see here https://github.com/openhab/openhab2/blob/master/products/org.openhab.product.runtime/org.openhab.runtime.product.product#L57.
And yes, you can certainly add custom REST endpoints. You should do this as it is done with the default REST endpoints like https://github.com/eclipse/smarthome/blob/master/bundles/io/org.eclipse.smarthome.io.rest.core/src/main/java/org/eclipse/smarthome/io/rest/core/binding/BindingResource.java.

I am learning the EJBs for the first time. I tried to search for tutorials and found a few tutorials in SUN website. For some they asked me to install weblogic server. Then in another link they are showing sun application server.
Please advise which application server is better or more widely used. I am learning EJB's to improve my job prospects.

Installing Oracle Application Server 10.2 for Oracle Database Lite

Can anybody please tell me how to install oracle application server 10.2 for oracle database lite (i use oracle database lite for my final project). I use wi-fi connection to synchronize between pda and my laptop as server. Should i install oracle internet directory before installing oracle application server? I have difficulties in installing application server, what are the options should i take in every page of installation? Thanks before.

Install with the base, do not select any other options. Only choose webcache if you require the use of a software load balancer.

How do I change which application is the (default) for a given file type?

For .pdf files, I have set the application behaviour to "Always Ask", because sometimes I want to open the pdf, sometimes I want to save it. So far so good.
Now, when I want to open the .pdf, I have added an application to the dropdown list, so now I have "Adobe Reader 9 (default)" and "okular".
The problem is this: I *never* open using Adobe Reader. I always want to use okular, but Adobe Reader always appears first on the list, as it is the 'default'. This means I always have to click on the dropdown and select "okular", i.e. an extra step every time I want to open a pdf.
How do I change which application is the default?

Yes, I know that. That was the first sentence of my question, but it is not the problem I have.
I want to change which application is the (default) for a given file type, and this cannot be done from the settings.

Docs to go is a bit more polished i think. It has been around awhile on other platforms and the sync is very well done. It works more as an extension of your desktop. You select the files you want to sync. They can stay where they are on your computer. If changes are made to either they update when you sync.
Quick Office allows you to move documents to and from your iphone and Any computer on any network as well as your iDisk if you have MobileMe. It has a server built in. You just enter the web address into any browser and you can see the folders on the iphone. It will work with Word and Excel fine. It is tricky editing a spreadsheet on such a small screen but it can be done.
Docs to Go has a little bit better editor.
I guess it depends on whether you want to be able to transfer files to a computer other than your own.

I plan to develop a small archiving application (for video tapes/rushes) using Java Enterprise technology.
As part of my job, I've been working for a while on JOnAS/Tomcat and WebLogic, and also had glimpses of WebSphere and the SAP NetWeaver J2EE engine. We've had Oracle and Ingres databases running, as well.
Now, these solutions seem a bit overweight regarding what I plan to do, so I wonder if you people could advise me to use smaller solutions.
For instance, I had a look at the Java Application Server while using as part of AVK-based certification, and it looked very small and easy - and it's Sun's... Yet I don't know it in details, and it's the same for JBoss or Apache/Tomcat combinations. Regarding the DBs, even using the freeversion of Oracle DB seemed a bit too much, but on the other hand, DBs such like MySQL seem a bit too light...
For the record, the solution should be running on a high-end desktop PC in a small LAN (<10 users).
Any feedback appreciated!
PS: I've been using Eclipse for ages, but I wonder: how's NetBeans?

MySQL imho is much more stable and faster than Oracle, SQL Server, Sybex and DB2. It's free and has a lot of standard features in the free version, such as triggers, views, stored procs. I use it in all of my personal stuff and it runs fine, plus I deployed at a few clients with 20-45 transactions per second with no problems. Plus there are thousands of LAMP/R application that use MySQL and get hit tens of thousands of times an hour. If you don't want to mess with it, you can use PostGres which is also free and if you feel like getting crazy you can use a OO DB like DB4O which is actually very stable and much quicker than a RDBMS/Driver scenario (or so they claim)....
As for Application Servers, I am partial to JBoss, it's free it's super stable and it has most of the same bells and whistles WebSphere/WebLogic. Plus it's a full application server, not a servlet container like, Orion, Tomcat, Resin... Plus I have used Tomcat at a couple of clients as a production Server and I find it a little flaky, especially when it comes to Server ConnectionPooling.

Oracle Application Server 10.1.3.5 and SSL

We want to use SSL in combination with Oracle Application Server 10.1.3.5. I installed Oracle Application Server 10.1.3.5 on Windows 2008R2 64 bit. After that I installed 64 bit java(jdk-6-26-windows-x64.exe) to run jvm in 64bit. I'm facing the following problem. The wallet manager won't run on Windows 2008R2 64bit because we're using 64bit jdk. There is also a commandline version; mkwallet. When I start this up it says "Oracle Wallet Commandline tool for 32bit Windows" I also can't create a certificate or certificate request. When I install a 32bit java version I also get a different JAVA_HOME, and that I don't want.
What if I install Oracle Application Server 10.1.3.5 on a 32bit OS and use there also a 32bit jdk, then use wallet manager to generate a certificate? Can I than use this wallet on the 64bit windows and 64bit jdk?
What other options are there available in this situation to use SSL? Is for example keytool from java an option?

Here an update on this situation. I installed Oracle SOA Suite 10.1.3.5 on Windows 2008r2 64bit in a seperate environment. After that I installed the 32bit version of the jdk we used in the test and production environment. In the seperate environment I can startup Oracle Wallet Manager. Here I created a certificate request and then import the reply certificates from the CA. Then the wallet says "Certificate ready". In the directory where the wallet is, I put the certificate request, and the reply certificates. After that I copy the wallet-directory to the test environment(with a 64bit jdk) and in the ssl.conf file I point to the copied wallet-directory. After a restart of the app-server I got SSL.

How to configure sun application server 8.2 for Oracle RAC 10g

We have numerous boxes running the sun platform application server 8.2 and 2 boxes running enterprise version 8.2 all connecting to a 4 node Oracle RAC 10 G release 2 database. We have the system up and working. The application servers are connecting just fine to the database and the apps don't have any problems querying, inserting, etc. However, when we try to do failover testing of situations when a node or nodes of the Oracle RAC database goes down the application server does not gain new valid connections. Our configuration is this, OracleDataSource for the data source, table validation turned on with a valid table, ONS configuration set in properties, connectionCache enabled, and fastconnectionfailover enabled as well in the properties. We have that long oracle rac url with load balancing turned on set fot the database URL. We have the checkbox checked to fail all connections on any failure. ONS is configured properly within the database because we have a java application that runs outside of the application server that uses all the same settings described above (only set manually in our code for the OracleDataSource). This application works seemlessly when DB nodes are shutdown. We can shutdown all but one node and it's still humming along without skipping a beat. Start up one of the others, kill the last node, it still hums along nicely without skipping a beat. We'd really like to get the applications running in the application server to work the same way. Any help would be greatly appreciated. We've tried all the combinations that we can think of with configuration settings in the application server and it never works. Am tempted to rip out the database connection pool from inside the application server and configure it manually in the code but we are using entity beans and this is the much easier approach, if it will work. It's down to the point of does sun application server actually work with oracle RAC for connection failovers.
