Which are the best settings for exporting comps before edditing in Premiere Pro
Hello everyone!
As the title says, which are the best settings for exporting comps from AE to Pr.Pro and then edit them?
Let me explain: I have two comps in AE (intro and outro) and want to export them in Pr.Pro for edditing along with a fottage i shot.
When i render them the size of the files are huge (30 sec= 7GB).
Which is the best method (and settings) i can export the intro and outro to a 'normal' file size and then put them in Pr.Pro without loosing any quality??
[Comp settings: HDTV 1080 29.97 (1920x1080)]
AE and Premiere Pro both CS4
If you're rendering and exporting an intermediate video file to go from After Effects to any other piece of post-production software (such as Premiere Pro), you want to make sure that you're not losing any quality.
Most compression methods, which make movies smaller, also lose some of the image data---i.e., quality. There are a few compression methods that don't lose any image data; these are "lossless" codecs. These lossless codecs do decrease the size of a video file, but they're nowhere near as effective at decreasing size as the lossy codecs are. But file size isn't important when you're doing post-production work. Big files are a fact of life in post-production.
Examples of lossless codecs include the PNG codec and the Animation codec at the highest quality settings, both of which can be used in a QuickTime (.mov) container. I prefer the PNG codec; it's more efficient for photorealistic images, whereas Animation is more efficient for things like cartoons. There are lots of other lossless and nearly lossless codecs. A lot of people that do video editing like the Lagarith codec, but that is something that you'd have to go and get; it's not part of a standard CS5 or QuickTime installation.
See these FAQ entries for information about compression and why file sizes are big for losslessly encoded files:
"FAQ: Why is my output file huge...?"
"FAQ: What is the best format for rendering and exporting from After Effects?"
By the way, keep in mind that you don't always need to render and export an intermediate movie to go from After Effects to Premiere Pro. There are other ways to move data back and forth between these applications, including Dynamic Link. Which is best depends on the specific circumstance. See "Working with Premiere Pro and After Effects".

thats way too vague of a question... best what? quality? size? playback?
best quality then use high bitrate, small size use low bitrate. -
Hello everyone!
I am editing a big bunch of short 4K clips (XAVC in MP4) which will then go onto DVDs. The idea is to get as many of those clips on a DVD as possible. Using Premiere Pro 7.2.2 on Windows 8.
What I would like to know is whether I'm actually using the best possible settings for this case, because the video exported to MPEG2-DVD doesn't look that good. Or maybe it needs to be exported to a different format and rather converted to DVD format after?
The sequence setting are the following:
RED Cinema
Frame rate: 29,97 fps
3840x2160 (16:9)
Square pixels
The export settings I've been using:
MPEG2-DVD
Aspect ratio: 16:9
TV Format: PAL
Field order: progressive
Frame rate: 25
Video quality: 100
Bitrate: VBR
1, I've tried different bitrates, also setting minimum at 9, but this blows up the file size too much (as i mentioned, the idea is to get at many clips as possible on a DVD)
GOP: M - 3, N - 15 (haven't touched those)
Multiplexer: none (should i put DVD?)
I'm using maximum render quality
Have I given all the information?
Any help will be appreciated!@As Ann has advised do not expect too much, you are going down a lot in quality.
Why are you also going from NTSC to a PAL output?
Premiere will drop frames to get from 29.97 to 25.
PAL DVD players read NTSC discs fine as long as they are region 0
Why are you trying to produce a DVD anyway?
A Bluray would be far better quality.
Also a minimum 9 is way wrong, c9.6 is the max in the spec and hence avoided as your system is trying to push the spec limits to close.
I used to use 6 - 7.5 - 8.8 in my VBR and they looked fine, now I am all HD. -

What version of Premiere Elements are you using on Mac?
Export your Timeline content to a .mp4 file, using export settings which have been customized under the Advanced Button/Video Tab of the export's preset.
See Publish+Share/Computer/AVCHD and .mp4 category. The exported file is then uploaded to YouTube at the YouTube web site.
If you post the properties of your source video and project settings, I will suggest the settings for the Timeline content export to file saved to the computer
hard drive for upload to YouTube at the YouTube web site.

What are the best settings for ripping cd's in the AAC format?
I have researched and found out that the AAC format rules over the MP3 format as fas as sound quality goes with lossy formats. Example: AAC at 128 is better than MP3 at 160 as so forth. My questions are: What are the best settings for ripping cd's in the AAC format? Will I be able to burn cd mixes with the tracks I import into itunes after importing using the AAC format? Does the AAC format have VBR like the MP3 format? Is there other ripping software such as dbPoweramp and Exact Audio Copy that does a better job ripping cd's in the AAC format? Please help!

It is a matter of opinion, but I suggest 256 kb/s, CBR, and leave all other settings on automatic.
Will I be able to burn cd mixes with the tracks I import into itunes after importing using the AAC format?
Yes. Just put them in a playlist and burn.
Does the AAC format have VBR like the MP3 format?
Yes. You will see it as an option in the Import Settings.
Is there other ripping software such as dbPoweramp and Exact Audio Copy that does a better job ripping cd's in the AAC format?
EAC does a better job of correcting errors in damaged CDs, but for normal CDs iTunes does a fine job of ripping to AAC. -
Which are the correct settings for gmail in MacBookPro
I want to use mac mail to access my gmail. Can I ? instead of going directly to web to access my gmail.? Which are the correct settings for the incoming and outgoing servers ?
Hi,
Yes. You can absolutely access your Gmail account from within either Mail or Microsoft Outlook for Mac. Make sure, that you have enabled POP/IMAP in your Gmail settings, then follow the instructions here: http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=180188 if you wish to access your account via POP3 instead of IMAP, change the incoming mail server to pop.gmail.com

What are the best settings for a retina display image?
If we Export for Web then view it on a retina display monitor, the image lines look blurry and it's not as crisp as non-retina display monitors.
What are the best settings when intended for retina display monitors while keeping the file size down?
Thanks!Mark, yes a DVD will play back on a HDTV, just the quality will not match the capability of the playback device. This is certainly the easiest approach though.
As the article you referenced says, ensuring that your previews are set to a larger pixel dimension than your required output will ensure maximum quality, given that you will more than likely have movement on the images in the slide show I would suggest going with pixel dimensions that are at least 1920px.
Let us know how you go.

What are the best settings for a slideshow on DVD
So I'm looking at this helpful article -- http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3781 -- and wondering: if I want to make a slideshow to burn on a DVD to show on a large-screen HDTV, what would be the right settings for Photo Preview and Photo Quality? Thanks!

What are the best settings to export video for Blip.tv?
I have CS5.5 and Adobe Premiere Pro.
Their suggestions are anything but helpful for Adobe:
http://support.blip.tv/entries/344530-how-should-i-export-my-videos-fo r-blip-tv
Thing is, I had Premiere Elements 8 and 10, which both had no issues with making and uploading MPGs, but Pro's settings are... well, I'd call them "messed up". Part of the issue might be that Elements and Pro ands unforgiveably disimilar in too many aspects (I'd argue 8 was functionally better than 10). Why are settings seemingly unavailable, or completely different? I wasted an entire day, rendering the same video in different formats, because Pro didn;t have the same available settings as I could with Elements 10.
Regardless of my complaints. The question is still this: What settings should I use for esporting videos to Blip.tv? The answer never really gets answered over there, but I am asking there too.
Ultimately, I'm sending MP4 videos, and they are absolutely fine on my computer, but are squished over there. So if anyone else has any more experience with Blip.tv, maybe they can answer it. They don;t seem to like Adobe/PC software much to care to give settings.
-FesTry a YT or Vimeo preset, adjust framerate accordently
I do not understand their field suggestions. Web is always no fields regardles the source. -
I have tried all the different settings, but my videos do not have HD quality, why?
P.S. - Videos turn out better (but not HD quality) with PE 12 when I do not use RENDER .
When I watch the video on my camera they have HD quality.
My system -
Windows 8.1
Processor - Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-477OK CPU @ 3.50 GHz 3.50 GHz
Ram - 800GB
System type - 64-bit operating system,x64 - based processor. To capture HDV video, you should connect the camcorder to your computer via FireWire cable and then use Premiere Elements' Add Media/From Flip or Cameras to get the video from the camcorder to your computer.
If you've done this, the video should load into the program at full hi-def quality and your should have a smooth editing experience.
Is this the process you used to capture and load your video? -
What are the Best settings for GEforce GTX680 & Premiere Pro CC
I have purchased the Geforce GTX 680 mac edition and installed in my Mac Pro 2012. However, there are some settings in Premiere Pro that are a little perplexing to me. To maximize the effectiveness of video card and get the best render times I want to make sure my settings are correct.
I read that under Sequence Settings it is best to check off Maximum Render Quality and then under Preferences > Memory I should check off Memory instead of Performance. Am I correct in doing this?I own a Mid 2012 Mac Pro which had a ATI Radeon HD 5870 and replaced it with a GeForce GTX 680 bought from Amazon in the UK.
Card Installation - first issue I had was getting the old ATI card out, after undid the obvious screws it just wouldn't come out, so I read the Mac manual reminding me to press the button on the grey plastic card holder which moves a metal bar out the way, then it came out easily! Once card was installed I switched on the power and the Mac stayed on the grey Apple logo screen for 20 minutes. Called Nvidia in Germany and got a guy who only knew Windows who told me to reinstall the old card, delete the ATI drivers and try again, such a Windows tech support response! I knew this was not how Apple work, so I searched the forums and it turned out I need to fully turn the power off at the wall for both the Mac Pro and my 27" Apple Cinema Display as they seem to retain some settings from the previous setup. Once I did that, the Mac booted up correctly :-)
CUDA Drivers: It is very odd there is no mention of having to install the CUDA drivers in any of the documentation you get from Nvidia, but thanks to this forum thread I knew to go to the CUDA drivers page at http://www.nvidia.co.uk/object/mac-driver-archive-uk.html
and downloaded the CUDA driver, it installed and when I ran my old premiere projects with an embed After Effects clip in them, unlike before wiht the ATI the timeline rendered them in real time, so that is a major improvement.
Dilema: only question left is whether to be using the CUDA settings or OpenCL option in the Premiere Pro CC > Projects Settings tab? -

What are the best settings for Quicktime movies on the web?
I've created a movie and exported it from IMovie. One version is 7.3 megs, and loads fairly quickly when I have it on a web page. I used broadband medium settings from IMovie to create it. I also created a file that is 19.3 megs using broadband high settings from IMovie. That file is way too big to load in a reasonable amount of time. Thing is, I can't stretch the 7.3 meg version (or don't know how) to make it any bigger. Is there a way I can make it bigger in the web page? Maybe that's a Dreamweaver question. Thanks.
You would need to add a few lines of code to your Web page and that depends on which html "style" you've used.
For the "object/embed" style code you would change your dimensions from those found in the source file to those you want to use in your page. Then add scale="tofit" in the embed tag code and param name="scale" value="tofit" in the object tag.
Don't forget to add 16 pixels to the height to show the movie controller (if used). -
What are the proper settings for export to Windows DVD Creator?
I'm trying to write some DV-Widescreen material to a DVD using Windows DVD maker (hey, it's free.) So far I've tried "H.264", "MPEG2" and "DVD-Wide" settings, and various permutations.
I either get a single file (.mp4) which Windows DVD Maker won't recognize at all, or I get three separate files: .m2v, .wav, and .xmp. The only one Windows DVD Maker recognizes is the m2v file, which is video-only (no audio).
Seems like this should be really simple given the awesome power of Media Encoder, but I can't find the right combination of settings. Can anyone help?Use "MPEG-2 DVD" and in the settings panel, under the MULTIPLEXER tab, change Multiplexing from "NONE" to "DVD" - this will output a single file that DVD Maker will accept.
Under AUDIO tab, I set audio to Dolby and DVD Maker accepted the result. I don't have any speakers attached to the test computer at the moment, nor did I burn a test DVD, but the fact that DVD Maker readily accepts the file suggests that all will be fine. You might also try MPEG audio, see what works for you, but Multiplexing is the key.
While DVD Maker does accept the AVI file you gave it, keep in mind that you are then rendering TWICE, once to AVI, and then DVD Maker needs to further transcode the AVI to MPEG-2 for the DVD. Makes more sense to render direct to MPEG-2 DVD format and be done with it.
Thanks
