Which backup software works best?

Hello all,
I'm looking to automate a backup program for my Logic Projects and other important stuff, like Channel strip settins, etc. Any advice on what's worked best for you in this situation?
TIA<
Michael

Apple back up 3.
Can be used to back STUFF.
LIKE A SYSTEM-RESTORE.
IF THAT WHAT YOU ARE ON ABOUT.
ARE USED THE BACK UP FOLDER IN LOGIC.
AND AFTER YOU HAVE SET YOU CHANNEL-STRIPS, YOU CAN THEN SAVE IN LOGIC ON THAT SAME CHANNEL STRIP.
AND WHEN YOU NEED IT JUST GO BACK TO CHANNEL STRIP AND IT WILL BE THERE AND CAN BE USE ON OTHER TRACKS.
HAVE FUN. LOGIC FUL OF TRICKS ARE YOU COULD BACK UP YOUR STUFF ON ANOTHER HARD/DRIVE INTERNALLY ARE EXTERNALLY.

  • Which camera will work best with the MAC? NIKON or Canon

Contemplating on buy a camera and a MAC, but need to know which camera will work best with a MAC, Nikon or Canon? Any info is appreciated

Both will work very well. You might not even need to install the software that comes with them because they'll probably work fine with iPhoto etc. Before you buy a camera, check this list of cameras supported by OS X:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3825
Just about all Nikon and Canon cameras are on that list. If a camera is so new it is not yet on that list, it will be in the next update, probably.
That list is for raw format compatibility. If your camera also shoots JPEG, it will work with a Mac even if it's not on that list. If a camera doesn't work by plugging in a cable, take the card out and put it in an ordinary USB card reader and the Mac will read it.
Nikon has a slight advantage in that it supports a mode that lets the Mac mount a camera like a disk on the desktop. Canons don't mount on the desktop, but it's not really a disadvantage, because Canons still work great with Apple iPhoto, Apple Aperture, Apple Image Capture, and Adobe apps, and all of those are more efficient ways of transferring photos than dragging them out manually.

  • Which imac would work best for Graphic Design?

I am a Graphic Designer, currently using Creative Suite 2 (soon to be upgraded to CS3) and I need a new Mac for home. A Powermac takes up too much space, so I'm thinking about an imac with a 24" monitor and I have a few questions for the experts:)
Which imac would work best for graphics?
Is the monitor acurate for Pantone color matching?
Is the 24"monitor on the imac clear and bright?
    Is Leopard a stable OS?
I also need an (inexpensive) color laser printer. Any suggestions?
    Thanks a bunch!
Suzi (Machead since the beginning of Mac history)

Hello and Welcome to Apple Discussions.
The 24" iMac uses a superior LCD panel to the 20" model and so is certainly better suited to your purposes. I don't know how badly having a piece of glass in front of the display would affect you as a designer though.
The display certainly is clear and bright. I use it on it's lowest brightness setting.
Leopard is stable but it's worth checking that drivers for any devices that you currently rely on are available. For example I have to go back to my 10.4.11 iMac G4 to use my scanner. Personally I can't get iCal to alarm in Leopard but that's a fairly minor gripe.
As this is the forum for much older iMacs I'd suggest re-posting in the Intel iMac forum and even Mac OS 10.5 Printing forums for better informed opinion:

Which wireless router works best with Apple products?

I cannot comment of Airport products, as I have none.  Nor would I suppose to argue with Kappy or Ralph.
But in a pinch a LinkSys E2500 will work, as it does for me.

This sounds like a price match question. Without knowing all the details, it sounds like a yes for the Westinghouse, but I would encourage you to read the price match policy link here:

If all you care about is 1080p definition and an HDMI input at a $300 price point then this tv should suit your needs. (As a bonus it has 120Hz refresh for smoother action scenes.)http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Westinghouse+-+40%26%2334%3B+Class+-+LCD+-+1080p+-+120Hz+-+HDTV/5772998....

  • Which Digidesign interfaces work best with Logic Pro ?

Can anyone tell which of these work best with Logic if any at all?
    - Digi-003
    - M-Box Pro
    - M-box2
    - M-Box mini
    - M-Powered

    Thanks for the posts
After hearing complaints about latency, driver
    issues, horrible quality,incompatibility with there
plugs in logic as well as no chance to stand against
performances and sound quality of other hardware half
there prices i thought to ask.
Wow. All that??? And then they recommend Migraine-Audio to you??? I don't think those posters know what they are talking about.
I've been using Logic since it could be used with Digidesign hardware, from version 4.8.1, and it has always worked very well.
It does pay to research the setting up of a DAW computer, as it is almost never just "plug-n-play" like many people believe. But once it is set up, it can run for years without problems. Most people experience problems because they change the setup, install free plugins, change audio gear, every other day of the week, and of course, that makes for a very unstable situation. No wonder they complain. But it is their tech-ethic they should be complaining about, not the equipment.
Can anyone verify there set ups and latency?
Here's one extensive test I did on my Digi 002R:
    http://nicksevilla.com/logicpro-som/LogicTests.html
The latency is the same as with other comparable FireWire interfaces. Not more, and not less.
i wont drag this out into a long post i just want a
round about, all logic users in other forums seem to
be against Digi hardware, most advised to buy the
cheapest possible M-Audio interface just to run M
Powered Pro Tools if i realy need PT at all.
Really??? All of them???And did they know they are advising you to buy stuff that actually does NOT work properly??? Shame on those posters you read, as Digidesign drivers are a LOT more stable that the Migraine-Audio ones. Digidesign themselves told me to stay away from M-Audio... so you read into that whatever you like. I'll keep that advise from them.
    Cheers

  • Which OSX version works best with Logic Pro 7.2

    Hello everyone,
Was hoping i could get some opinions on which osx version works best with logic 7.2
i currently have OSX 10.4.2 but i would like to update at least to 10.4.3 (that is least required to run logic as stated in install manual)...
    should i go for 10.4.4, 10.4.5 or 10.4.6 ?
which would run best with logic pro 7.2?
    thanks much everyone
    Quad G5 2.5ghz 3GB RAM   Mac OS X (10.4.2)
    Quad G5 2.5ghz 3GB RAM   Mac OS X (10.4.2)

10.4.5 was rock solid for me, and three days into heavy Logic use at 10.4.6 is proving to be just as good.
Get caught up, and go ahead and update to 10.4.6

  • Which accessory will work best?

I posted on here less than a month ago asking about the 30-pin to lightning adapter for the iPhone 5, seeing if it would work with my '08 Volkswagen Jettas iPod Adapter. Sadly to say, I should have listened to my gut feeling (but I appreciate the effort in trying to help) that it didn't work. I was looking around on the Google machine here, and found through a forum these things from CableJive. THey didn't say if they worked or not and I was wondering if anybody had any ideas if they do or not? Or if they think it would work?

    http://www.cablejive.com/products/dockBoss-air.html
    http://www.cablejive.com/products/dockBossplus-for-iPhone-5.html
Anyone have any tries with these things at all? THink it would work (although it does say it)? Just want to be sure this time. If you do, which would be the best buy?
    Thanks Community!
    Kyle

I hope this reaches you in time. Turns out none of Cablejive's solutions will work with VW's built in ipod adapter. Take a look at this link: http://www.cablejive.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=7467

  • Which sand paper works best for iPhone 5 scratches

I dropped my iPhone 5S and it got scratched at its bottom and side near ear phone jack.
I want to use a sanding paper to smooth it out.
Which number of sanding paper would work best?
    Does anyone know?

please refrain from taking sandpaper to your iphone 5s. if it bother you that much, i would love to take it off your hands.
    In all honesty,
I would just recommend buying a luxurious case and covering it up if it bothers you so much.

  • Which "Presentation Software" Imports Best?

    Hello,
I am looking to create video in iMovie which incorporate slides from Powerpoint, Keynote, Camtasia - whichever. What I've found is that it's very hard to text to appear clear no matter which you use (I export/import those files as movies into into iMovie) I've even tried exporting individual slides as pictures to then import through iPhoto - still blurry. Titles don't proved enough options in terms of amount of content or placement on screen - same with mattes created in photoshop, etc.
    Any ideas are much appreciated!

Klaus' method of producing high quality slide show movies/DVDs:
There are many ways to produce slide shows using iPhoto, iMovie or iDVD, but they all have one thing in common: they reduce the quality of the photos to that of a movie still frame and sometimes limit the number of photos you can use.
If what you want is what I want, namely to be able to use high resolution photos (even 300 dpi tiff files), to pan and zoom individual photos, use a variety of transitions, to add and edit music or commentary, and to end up with a DVD that looks good on both your Mac and a TV - in other words end up with and end result that does not look like an old fashioned slide show from a projector - you may be interested in how I do it. You don't have to do it my way, but the following may be food for thought!
Firstly you need proper software to assemble the photos, decide on the duration of each, the transitions you want to use, and how to pan and zoom individual photos where required, and add proper titles. For this I use Photo to Movie. You can read about what it can do on their website:
    http://www.lqgraphics.com/software/phototomovie.php
(Other users here use the alternative FotoMagico: http://www.boinx.com/fotomagico/homevspro/ which you may prefer - I have no experience with it.)
Neither of these are freeware, but are worth the investment if you are going to do a lot of slide shows. Read about them in detail, then decide which one you feel is best suited to your needs.
Once you have timed and arranged and manipulated the photos to your liking in Photo to Movie, it exports the file to iMovie 6 as a DV stream. You can add music in Photo to Movie, but I prefer doing this in iMovie where it is easier to edit. You can now further edit the slide show in iMovie just as you would a movie, then send it to iDVD 7, or Toast, for burning.
You will be pleasantly surprised at how professional the results can be!

  • What personal finance software works best with MacBook Air

My Quicken has crashed out and lost data one time too many.  What is the best Apple friendly personal finance software to use with a MacBook?

One that I like and which has very similar capabilities to Quicken is iBank. It took me a couple of months to adopt to how they do things (after many years of using Quicken on a PC) but now I would never go back. They have a 30 day free trial also. http://www.iggsoftware.com/ibank/

  • Which printer brands work best with Mac?

Well, it sounds like my HP LaserJet 3015 will not duplex with my new Mac (only with PCs, I guess), so I am going to need a new printer. Does anyone have suggestions on which brands of printers work well with the Mac? Thanks in advance...

There are a number of Laserjet 3015 models. Some have automatic duplexing and others do not. If it has duplexing, it should do it whether it is on a Mac or a PC. Make sure you have duplexing and the proper driver for your printer. If you are using a Gutenprint driver instead of the HP driver, you may not have duplexing available. If you click on Options & Supplies in Print & Fax, you will be able to see which driver you are using.
