  • Which BIOS for Corsair 3200XLPT??

Hi guys, is there anyone using the Corsair PC3200XLPT here, I really like to know which BIOS is the most stable with these ram?? Right now I'm using Bios 1.52 but somehow I'd always got BSOD with these ram installed, all running at SPD, but even at lower timing 2-3-7-3, these ram still gave me troubles. And now my WinXP became corrupt . . .  .
Any clue please ??? or perhaps I've to rma these ram??

There is a real difference between Corsair XL and C2 memory:
    http://www.corsairmicro.com/corsair/xms.html
The XL should run at 2-2-2-5 1T at stock memory frequencies and even a bit beyond. I'd set the memory to those specs and run memtest86 for an extended period to make sure the hardware was working as it should be before doing anything else. If this generates errors then you definitely have a hardware problem but it may not be your memory. See Tiresmoke's excellent sticky above.
And whatever you do, don't even thing about changing the BIOS until you have a stable hardware platform and are running XP with absolutely no major problems.

  • Which BIOS shall I use for " K8T Neo -FSR"??

I bought  a MSI K8T Neo- FSR board yesterday. But when I looked at the MSI web site I haven't seen ...FSR board, I only see ...FS2R board instead. So which BIOS shall I download and flash? There is also no any explanation about FSR. My board carries the BIOS V1.1. On the other hand it writes this informatin on the board; " K8t Neo 6702 rev. 1.0"

...here's the product page...I found it the other day but I can't remember how   ...got lucky, I guess...
...BIOS version?..I've always used Live Update in Windows...just follow the directions to the letter...there are beta versions available in the forums...the current one is getting good reviews...

  • Severe Problems with BIOS v1.9 for K8N Neo Platinum (7030)

I updated to the new BIOS and nothing but crashes, so I tried to go back to 1.7, because everything was working fine with 1.7 and now, the BIOS is asking for a password, and I never setup a password in the BIOS. What the heck, now I have a $1000 (US) paper weight, thanks alot for the buggy BIOS update, now you can send me a new motherboard!!!
**Edit** Well I found a work around, went back to BIOS 1.5 for now until I can get 1.7 to work again, 1.8 and 1.9 are screwed up beyond belief, you can't set any overclocking features, RAM timings are messed, there is no choice for 1T/2T, currently I'm running at SPD on the DRAM and stock on all the CPU functions. I would really like if someone could test these BIOS versions before putting them up so stupid people like me update them. Also, leaving more choices than one BIOS update in MSI LiveUpdate would be nice, because flashing via the floppy drive is a pain in the butt, lucky I have an extra computer to use.**End Edit**

Do a floppy drive flash with the correct switches.  Go back to the last bios that worked properly or try Pinochio's bios which a lot of people like.  Liveupdate will mess up your bios.  So can winflash if you do not use it correctly.

After you have read about it, do this using the correct flash utilty file name and the correct  bios file name
"DOS floppy flash shall be performed with :
    awfl833d.exe w7030nms.180 /py /sn /wb /cc /cd /cp /f /e
(Replace biosfilename with appropriate version for Neo1/neo2 etc , switches remain the same )
    After flash is complete :
TURN OFF PSU (don't restart) wait 15 seconds
Turn on again , press the power button .
Enter BIOS and load optimized defaults (NO OTHER CHANGES) , save + exit
Boot the system again with the floppy in the drive to let the DMI pool build and update itself .
    Good luck.

  • New BIOS (v2.1) for MSI Neo Plat 7030

I noticed that there are some fairly new BIOS versions available for the MSI Neo Platinum v1.0 (7030).
I'm currently on BIOS version v1.7 and that's been stable.
Has anyone tried version v2.1 ?
I've heard bad things about v1.8 so  I'm not messing with that.

    it is for me
i only updated BIOS when i was trying out some overclocking, and it gave me some better results, than when i was with BIOS 1.4, which i had used for a year previously with no issues
if you don't need to update BIOS, then you don't need to update BIOS; its not like updating a driver
    BIOS flashing stupid or not??

  • BIOS - once and for all

This BIOS business puzzles me. If you could answer me several questions, I would greatly appreciate it:
    1. I have found these instructions on this site:
    Quote
    BIOS Recovery Feature
    For AMI BIOS
Rename the desired AMI BIOS file to AMIBOOT.ROM and save it on a floppy disk. e.g. Rename A569MS23.ROM to AMIBOOT.ROM
    Insert this floppy disk ....
I have the A6567SMS.100. is this the AMI BIOS file mentioned ?
is this the file i need to rename to AMIBOOT.ROM ?
I downloaded it from MSI's BIOS section
    2. I've gathered that a BIOS mod for the 645 Ultra was made so it would enable 1.65V instead of 1.6V. that is exactly what i need, but i have the 645 Max2-LRU. so i downloaded the 645 Ultra-C manual and saw in the BIOS screenshots they give there that it is the exact BIOS i have - AMIBIOS 3.31a. is this the BIOS version on the 645 Ultra without the "C" as well (for which i understand the BIOS mod was made)?
    3. about that AMIBIOS 3.31 on the 645 ULTRA-C - there was something strange about it. the 645 ultra doesnt have a raid controller on board, so there was no RAID option in the "integrated Peripherals" settings in the BIOS, which means that the BIOS isnt EXACTLY like mine... or does the BIOS identify the onboard Peripherals automatically, meaning that it IS the same BIOS, and on my board, for example, it wouldve had the RAID option, which means i CAN use the aforementioned BIOS hack ?
    4. If not, could someone hack the 645Max2-LRU BIOS for me,pretty please? (sorry for being such a nag:D) or maybe help me find ockk (by giving me the old forums URL) whom ive heard is the author of the infamous 645 BIOS hack 8)
    Thanks a lot!!!

  • Which board is better for P4 3.0E Prescott

Hello Guys! just wanted to ask which board is better for P4 3.0E Prescott
     MSI 865PENEO2-PFISR
    or
     MSI 865PE NEO2-PFS
    Thanks in advance......

Basically the same MoBo ( only the Firewire/SATA raid is differant )
    http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/mainboard/mbd/pro_mbd_detail.php?UID=528
You´ll be fine with either of them.
Most people think bios 3.8 or 3.A is best for prescott cpu´s ( lower reported cpu temp)

  • Is it possible to make a BIOS usb key for a PC on a MAC?

I am not sure where to ask this question but If I needed to make a BIOS flash drive for a PC computer such as an HP Laptop or Desktop, would it be possible to do on the MacBook Pro running OS X Mountain Lion? I ask this because I thought I was going to need to make a BIOS flash update for an HP system and I did not want to use a CD to do it. I had downloaded the flash drive tool from HP which under a windows system would make a USB flash drive. I tried running the tool under Windows 7 on both a VM session and a boot camp session but both times I would get a message saying something similar to "You don't have permission" even though I was doing it as an admin. Turns out I didn't  need it anyway but for future references can I even make a bootable usb key for a PC on a Mac?

Thank you for the info. I found the problem that I had under the Windows 7 on Mac was the extractor(hpusbf.exe) was not running under the Admin mode so it wasn't given permission to modify the usb File system. I think the other issue is that I was trying this on a 8GB flash drive and it kept telling me the partition was too large. I found the switch to use 2048 blocks and it created  a bootable flash drive. The problem I have now is when I tried it on my old HP laptop, it boots up saying "FreeDos Fat" and stops. So I don't know what is going on but I think I am going to stick to making bootable CDs I just have to get some Re-writable CDs so I don't waste the CDs.
I tried your solution on the mac side and tried copying the dos files over but the drive would not boot. I think the problem is that the command.com file is not set as a system file. I am not sure how you can set command.com as a system file for windows under the MAC operating system. I know in windows you use attrib +S filename.

  • MSI GT70 0ND BIOS unlock request for intel vt-x virtualization

Hi, I'd like to request an unlocked bios for an MSI GT70 0ND.
I'm trying to enable intel VT-X virtualization, so I tried the official bioses as indicated here: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=158790.0
However neither of the windows 7 64bit bioses seemed to change anything, although the 30U version reactivated the raid settings which I had set to ahci.
I should also mention that the guide for flashing the bios on the official page indicated that after flashing the bios and waiting 15 seconds with no power and battery out, that there would be a screen saying 'CMOS Checksum Bad' but this didn't happen. It simply turned off again really quick, and restarted with seemingly the exact same bios. However I know it did something because with the 30U version the raid options were re-enabled.
Looking furthur I found this thread: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=160434.0
Indicating that I should request an unlocked bios.
I've already sent svet a donation. The confirmation is : 83957137919249941
Svet, Can you please make for me a custom bios with as many things enabled as possible including Intel VT-X?

  • NEO 875P 1.4 Bios BAD Overclocker 1.32B Much Better

I cannot Overclocker much at all with 1.4 Bios, my 2.4C runs 267Bus with 1.32 and with 1.4 I get max 210, Looks like TEMPS are fixxed in 1.4 But they broke Overclocking, Guess we shall wait for 1.5

    badwished!
I know some basic things to OC my system but I've got a very simple question:
If I set the FSB in the bios to 190 for ex., than the system tries to reach the memory at 380 isn't it?
    ( CPU = FSB x 4
    RAM = FSB x 2 ? )
As you can seen in my signature I've 2 pcs of Kingston HyperX 512 PC3000 (ddr370) modules. The system is working with these. Would it work with Kingston HyperX PC3500 module also?

  • Overclock for 1600* OC DRAM

    Hello,
    I have
    H55M-P31
Supports four unbuffered DIMM of 1.5 Volt DDR3 1066/1333/1600*/2000*/2133* (OC) DRAM, 16GB Max
Currently I have DDR3-1333. To achieve 1333 my "memory ratio" have value "5" so my FSB should be 266.
I would like to install DDR3-1600. Far as I understand I need to overclock something to install it.
If I correctly understand I need increase my FSB from 266 and to 320?
Also I can't find where could I change the FSB. Could you plese suggest where can I do it?
I have attached the screen shots from "Cell Menu" because far as I understand all frequencies are configured from there.

Anything above 1333mhz is overclocking and a lot of the RAM advertised as being 1600mhz are only 1066mhz modules, which can be overclocked but there is no guarantee they will be stable at 1600mhz.
I would avoid the G.Skill RipJaws RAM as a lot of people are having problems with that RAM.
Have a look in your area for the Crucial BL2KIT25664BN1337 4GB RAM kit, which is very good 1333mhz RAM that actually is 1333mhz.
    What's your location?

  • NEED BIOS BACKDOOR PASSWORD FOR HP PROBOOK 6540b. Have tried all types of bios resets, no luck.

NEED BIOS BACKDOOR PASSWORD FOR HP LAPTOP PROBOOK 6540b. Have tried all types of bios resets, doesn't work.
The password stay's no error code for entering wrong ones.

    Hi,
I too have been pulling my hair out with this problem on the 6540B. However after  2 days of various driver combinations I've finally found a working fix. I don't have the luxury of reinstalling Windows XP as the machine is custom configured with apps which will take over a week to configure again.
If you've got no audio it's probably because you've installed the IDT High Def Audio Driver. You may have tried a whole bunch of other options also to try and rectify the problem as I did.
    The solution is fairly simple:
Goto to add/remove programs and remove "SoundMax".
    Reboot
The audio driver may try to reinstall on boot up... allow it to install. It will still not work and will still show exclamation mark against IDT driver in Device Manager.
Goto run... then type regedit and hit enter. Windows registry opens.
    Goto My Computer>HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>SYSTEM>CurrentControlSet>Services>
Delete the WHOLE KEY for AEAudio and then exit regedit
Go to device manager and uninstall the IDT High Def Audio device from Device Manager
Then using the original HP Application and Driver Recovery DVD supplied with the notebook, run the autoplay, choose Hardware Enabling Drivers, tick only the IDT High Def Audio driver and follow the installation instruction on screen. You will be prompted to reboot after which Windows will find new hardware. The IDT will install itself and you will find that the sound works!
    Good Luck!
For those that cannot find their original disk, the IDT Audio Driver from the original disk is available at http://tinyurl.com/IDTAudio6540b or http://www.4shared.com/file/RxXn5afj/IDTAUDIO.html

I can't seemed to update the new BIOS and VBIOS for my GX740 because the MSI downloads and the forum flash won't work with 64bit systems!

The act of flashing itself, is done in 'pure DOS', which is neither 32bit or 64bit, but 16bit.
