Which Blu Ray allows browse and search with net flix rahter then Queing up threw computer ?

Im reading here that there is a samsung model that will allow this but i cannot get the actual model # dose anyone know which model this is or any other player that will allow this feature. Thanks.

I don't personally exactly know about the samsung version, but if you have found that it does then ALL samsung models will do it as they all have the same internect content software (Their TVs too). Xbox 360 & PS3 do allow searching. Sony Blu-ray players, 2010 models at least, do not offer that, and I'm pretty sure that LG does not either. But like I said, I am unsure about Samsung.

  • Blu-Ray video capture and burning with G4 Power Book ??

    Good afternoon.
Has anybody figured out this route with a G4?
If so, please explain in nauseating details! Hardware, software, etc.......
    Thanks for your time!

    Thanks for your reply.
It's also my understanding that OS X doesn't natively offer Blu-Ray support, and that an external Blu-Ray player/burner is required (see OWC) along with capture and burning software (Toast 10).
I'm wondering if anyone has tried and succeeded.

  • TS3495 My recent blu ray purchase did not come with a digital copy disc as others have in the past, and no place in the case for one to be either, just came with instructions, so now what?

My new blu ray disc did not come with a seperate digital download dis, now was there even a place for one inside the case, it came with instructions of how to install I tunes, then magically I would be prompted to enter the promo code and have it, no such luck, so now what?

Have you actually followed the instructions?
Did you enter the promo code?
If you did, were there any error messages?

  • How do I prevent browsing and search data from being forwarded to Google by Mozilla, while still using Mozilla's Firefox as my default browser?

I do enjoy using Mozilla's Firefox as my default browser, BUT, I don't enjoy the details of my life, to include my Internet activity, to be archived by Google, or anyone else, via Mozilla's/Firefox's sharing of my Internet browsing and/or search engine activity with any aspect or facet of the Google organization. With all of this said, my question is, "How do I prevent browsing and search data from being forwarded to Google by Mozilla, while still using Mozilla's Firefox as my default browser?"

Firefox's default behavior includes no automatic interaction with Google.
We do use Google as default search engine and to report web forgery in the 'help' menu, but no data are sent to Google without your knowledge, and you can change your preferred search engine at will.
However many websites themselves make use of Google Ads which do cause interaction with Google when you load the webpages. This is visible in status bar and happens in any browser. The [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/noscript NoScript] add-on for Firefox can largely save you from this problem.
If you see things happening otherwise, please reply with details on what you see.

    As  to iPhoto
Connect the two Macs together (network, firewire target mode, etc)  or use an external hard drive formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity from the old Mac to the pictures folder of the new Mac - launch iPhoto on the new mac and it will open the library and convert it as needed and you will be ready move forward.

SSince the update, I have no keyboard clicks on my iPad, no sound on many of the apps, And searching with the Duck is like going back to the dark ages. I hate Google but at least it works! I am getting soooo tired of releases that aren't fully de-bugged before they're released.

  • When highlighting text and searching with Google, even though my default browser is Chrome, it searches with Safari.  How do I change that?

Using iMac and Maverick OS.  I have Chrome as my default browser.  I find that going to System Preferences/General under default browser, I note that Chrome is chosen as default, yet the browser "above the line" is Safari and Chrome, while checked off is "below the line".  In other words, the top listed browser is Safari which is unchecked with a line underneath, even though all the other browsers are listed below the line and only Chrome has a check mark.
When I am on a website and I select words to search in Google, it always searches with Safari instead of Chrome.  How do I change that?

Thanks for your response.  I think it was my error in that I did not define the problem properly.  Indeed Chrome is my default browser.  And Maverick does not have a "next line" to default to Google.  I can do that in the Chrome settings.
My problem is that when I am in another application.....and it is apparently an application native to Maverick....for example Contacts or Calendar, Reminders, Notes, etc., if I highlight a word or phrase, and right click and choose "search with Google", it defaults to Safari.  How do I change that?

  • Which blu-ray disc with Toast Titanium ?????

Does anyone know how I can burn a blu-ray DVD on my Mac computor ?? I have downloaded Toast Titanium with the blu-ray plug-in but when i insert the disc to burn (a blue ray verbatim recordable disc) it ejects and says "please put in a recordable disc"... Any ideas??? Please help ASAP !!!!

Make sure your drive supports Blu-ray (BD) burning (not just reading, but Writing).  BDROM is a READ ONLY device.  You could try burning the video to DVD as Blue-ray video though.  No need for BD if you don't need the size.  You could let Toast split it up for you over several DVD's.  I've done it.  Just make sure you have a player than can play blue-ray.
If it won't burn, check to see you've selected BD and not DVD at the bottom of the window; you could check the specs of your burner by clicking the copy button and selecting the information page of your burner.  Look for "Write Support" and check to see that the format matches the disc you put in.
Blu-ray DVD... ...There is such a thing and I've described it above.  Mooblie, Get your head out of your bum and do a little research.  Try not to misinform.  Blu-ray DVD is a finished product, not a physical media type; in that you are correct.  But don't sell burners on this site.  Try offering a solution they can use right away.
You can burn BLU_RAY (highdefinition) video to standard and DL DVD's.  TOAST will split it up for you over several if needed.  I've done it, and they work great, just don't expect miracles with the menus (they might end up showing at the start of every disc).  If you have multiple videos, like me with my vacation clips, you could just have them all show up in their own chapter, and TOAST will split the video between the Files.  High-Definition across multiple discs, but a great way to get out one copy and have it ready to show off.  About 30min per DVD and just over an hour per DL DVD.

  • Which Blu Ray to buy?

I just bought a Canon VIXIA HF M31, picture quialty out of iMovie to iDVD is pretty good. However I would like to burn my movies to Blu Ray. Question is which one to buy?
    Thanks

Any of them. I have an LG internal burner, and put it into a cheap SATA enclosure.
But, you are aware that iDVD only makes DVDs? Here is my post on this, especially question 6:
Frequently asked questions for playing back high definition video on a TV:
Q1. What are high definition and standard definition?
    A. HD and SD are video resolutions defined by the dimensions of the frame size. Standard definition is 720x480 or 720x576 depending on the geographic location. High definition is anything greater than this. The two most common HD resolutions are 1280x720 and 1920x1080. Since digital video uses precise measurements of frame size, all digital video is either SD or HD.
Q2. Can I make a DVD that is high definition?
    A. No, DVDs are standard definition by design. They must be composed of mpeg2 video with a resolution of 720x480 (NTSC) or 720x576 (PAL). DVD players will only play actual DVDs.
Q3. Is there any way to make a DVD look as good as my HD video looks?
    A. No. You can make it look very good by encoding it with the highest quality, but it will always be standard definition. This will probably look noticeably worse than your source footage if it is high definition.
    Q4. Isn't HD-DVD a high definition DVD?
    A. No, it is a specific term referring to a format backed by Toshiba. It lost a format war to Blu-ray. To burn and play an HD-DVD, you need a special burner and special player. Although it is a dead format, some find it useful and inexpensive to buy an HD-DVD burner and HD-DVD player.
    Q5. Can I make a Blu-ray DVD?
    A. No, there is no such thing; Blu-ray discs are not DVDs. They will not play in a DVD player even though the discs look physically the same.
Q6. Can I make Blu-ray discs (BD) on the Mac so that I can see my video in high definition?
    A. Yes. You need a Blu-ray burner and Blu-ray discs. You also need to encode and author the discs.
The current software options are as follows:
    1. Use Final Cut Studio to encode and author a BD, using a BD burner.
Pros: Excellent quality, nice looking menus, subtitles can show the chapter name.
Cons: Only a few menu choices.
    2. Use Toast v. 9 or 10 with the Blu-ray plug-in to encode and author a BD, using a BD burner.
    Pros: Inexpensive and fairly quick.
Cons: Limited choices of very "stylized" menus, chapters cannot be named, encoding quality may not be as good.
    3. Use Adobe Encore to encode and author a BD, using a BD burner.
Pros: A great deal of control over the whole process, allowing complete design of the disc.
Cons: Expensive, complicated, and prone to bugs.
Q7. Does iDVD make Blu-ray discs?
    A. No, it makes DVDs which are playable in a DVD player.
Q8. Does DVD Studio Pro make Blu-ray discs?
    A. No, it makes DVDs which are playable in a DVD player.
Q9. Can I do anything to put HD video on a DVD, with a standard DVD burner?
    A. Yes, you can make what is called an AVCHD disc. This puts approximately 45 minutes of HD video on a physical DVD. The result is not an actual DVD, and it will not play back in DVD players. It is essentially a Blu-ray structure on a physical DVD-R. It will play back in most Blu-ray players. Final Cut Studio and Toast (v. 9 or 10 with the Blu-ray plug-in) have the ability to make these.
Q10. Are there other ways to play high-definition video in HD?
    A. Yes, if you play back from a device rather than a disc of some type. AppleTV and the Playstation 3 can play high definition video to a TV. There are numerous other media playback devices that are essentially hard drives with a specialized enclosure. Also, you can attach most digital TVs to any modern laptop or desktop computer, although interlaced video may not always display properly and might show combing artifacts.

  • Blue Ray Disk Equipment and Players

    Hi all,
just a quick question: in general, is it possible to watch blue ray disks (bd) with Archlinux? Which hardware equipment is best to be used and which applications for playing have to be used?
I am interested in the solution, so commercial applications are also valid for me. Has anyone experience with this topic?
    Best regards,
    Martin

    @B
+1 on that, people always complain about privacy issues and yet they happily use _online_ services to store data .... go figure. As you say, even if you have local copies of the files, if the drm server goes down then ... "we're sorry but we can no longer provide this service, thank you for giving us your money but now we're rich and we don't need you anymore", not even mentioning that if you want to watch _the same thing_ on several different devices most probably you will need to buy it all over again (that's completely fair, as far as the ones receiving the money are concerned that is).
Current "anti piracy" laws would be hilarious if it wasn't for people getting sued for ridiculously high amounts of money and the legal constraints anyone faces if wanting to keep legal.
Also the current practise of ISPs is to limit the speed of non http traffic (or even all traffic during peak hours of the day) and according to recent news it is being considered to limit the speed of the http traffic during half the day if they decide you are using it beyond what is considered "fair use" ... there goes "the cloud" down the drain.
And lastly, as always, linux users get screwed as there is no support whatsoever from anyone (concerning the playback of media with DRM) if you want to stay legal or don't want all the hassle (and risks) of going around DRM.

  • Which Blu-ray players play Encore BDs?

Other threads in this forum state that only some consumer Blu-ray players will play BD-R disks authored by Encore.  As I understand the situation, it has to do with a copy-protection code present in commercial Blu-ray disks but not on "amateur" disks burned on PC-mounted burners, and the insistence of some players, but not all, on finding that code.  In my experience BDs authored by Encore CS5 and burned on my LG BH10LS30 burner will play on a Panasonic SC-BT100 player and a Samsung BD-C5500 player, but not an LG BD390 player.
Is there a list of which players will play BD-Rs without the commercial copy protection code?  Or is there a way, other than buy-and-try to determine this information?  A claim to handle BD-R media appears insufficient since the LG player above makes that claim but rejects the same disks played by the other two.

Sony Outlet in Camarillo, CA.  The sales guys are on commission which probably helps.  I just told him my exact purpose and goal.
In my case it was one player on one TV.
I'm thinking if you just ask your local shop they would do the same (hopefully).

  • So what blu-ray drives will work nicely with the new FC?

So....well first...hi shane. ok, so.....is it as easy as plugging in a blu-ray drive to my macbook pro with leopard and the new final cut and burning hdv to a bluray disc right from the new compressor or is it not that easy?

    Hi
    i have an LG BE06LU11,
    http://www.lge.com/us/computer-products/optical-media/LG-external-dvd-burner-BE0 6LU11.jsp
And yes it's plug and play-I have found you need to make sure the burner is plugged in and turned on before you open any windows to create bluray content. and best to only put in burning media when FCS asks for it which is after it has done the encoding.

  • Pioneer BD-203 Blu Ray drive Observations and questions

    I have a DP35D motherboard with a Q6600 processor and 2mb RAM. I run XP with SP2 and PE7.
I use hi def video and usually write to a DVD burner, with no problems. I have 4 hard drives with a dedicated drive for PE7 video files, a 1TB drive.
    On DVD all is well.
So I installed a Pioneer BD- 203 Blu Ray drive (all my drives apart from the DVD drive are SATA). Installation of the BD203 went well, the PC recognised it and I was not required to "do" anything. It was  a bare drive so NO additional software was installed. I did not need to go into the BIOS or "do" anything.
I went into PE7 and the BD-203 was instantly recognised - so far so very good!
I took an existing 1hr 27 minute Hi Def video which I had successfully written to DVD and wrote it to BluRay. As a matter of interest it took 1hr 40mins to encode the video (as an MPEG2 file), then PE7 reported that the disc (BluRay that is) was being burnt (Burn in Progress) but there was no movement of the progress bar within PE7 and the hard drive was busy for just over an hour. Then there was activity on the BD-203 drive but the progress bar remained static - after maybe less than an hour the drive spat out the disc (a Traxdata 4* record BD-R disc) and NO error messages were reported. So all looked relatively good, at least thats what I thought. I have NO means of playing the disc at the moment and the BluRay disc certainly has some data written to it but only about half a discs worth.
I tried to read the BluRay disc on my PC and Windows XP said "Windows cannot read from the disc. The disc may be corrupted, or it could be using a format that is not compatible with Windows". I was not overly concerned by this as I have no BluRay reader on my PC.
I then encoded a separate 2 and a half minute video onto a Verbatim BD-RE disc. Obviously this was a much quicker process!! Once again the same set of processes albiet much more speedy.
    Questions.
What encoding should I select MPEG2 1440 * 1080i PAL Dolby OR MPEG2 1920 * 1080i PAL Dolby? My camcorder produces 1440 by 1080i as I believe is common practice.
Can I assume that the resultant discs are OK or should I suspect something?
Is there a free/cheap BluRay player for a PC that wont interfere with the BluRay writing operation or cause any other problems? and which I can use on my PC in order to verify that the discs I have written to are OK?
    Andy

Thanks, I will be tyesting my discs over the weekend.
But I can advise you that my DB203 does successfully burn DVDs and I can play those DVDs. From that I deduce that the drive is functional in the DVD writing mode - so I am a little more hopeful.
    Andy
PS Will advise all re progress - as BluRay writing seems to be a bit of an issue!!
