Which Cable do I need?

I have just purchased a second monitor (Ihave a 23"Cinema Display already) which is aDell UltraSharp U2410 24" Widescreen LCD Monitor. I want to connect it to my Mac as the main monitor and use my Cinema display as the 2nd monitor. I have a Ati Radeon HD4870 with a DVI-D port and a mini-displyport. What is the best cable(s) to use?
Best regards Denis

Hi again and thank you very much. I purchased a 2 meter mini displayport to displayport cable from www.circuitassembly.com and it was delivered promptly to the UK from the USA. It works extremely well, lightning fast and stable as a rock. Also it immediately made my Dell the primary display and booted from it correctly (my VGA adapter I was using temporarily made the Dell Monitor the primary monitor but booted on my Apple cinema 23"). I think this purchase was the best I could have made, avoiding all the problems associated with the Apple cables not working properly and being to short.
Thanks again for the link Denis.

which cable do I need to connect my Mac Book Pro to my Panasonic PV-GS150 video camera for transferring video to iMovie?

    I totally understand.
Check some things from here, I have 2 and they have been great so far.
Check here, lots of storage and reasonable prices. Also great support, you get to speak to a person
Clean off your on the G5 drive and off you go.
I suggest buying a second drive and setting it up for a back up, Time Machine or Carbon Copy Cloner, or SuperDuper (both "bootable" back up) All searchable on the web.

You can talk to a person for REAL advice, Phone: 800.275.4576  Ask about exporting to your G5 and and exporting to your existing OSX, you may only need a small inexpensive drive for this.
Quick delivery and willing to help.
Hope this makes you back up and running :-)
Do get a back up drive, as it is not ""whether my drive will fail, as much as "when my drive fails"

  • HT5299 which cables do I need to connect my macbook pro 2013 to an hd tv?

which cables do I need to connect my macbook pro 2013 to an hd tv?  The port's on the side have changed from my previous Mac.  Thank you.

If you have a retina MBP use a HDMI to HDMI cable.
If you have a non retina MBP, use a minidisplay port to HDMI cable.  Insert the minidisplay end in the Thunderbolt port.
    Ciao.

  • Which cable do i need for dell monitor  Dell Ultrasharp U2713H - macbook 13' retina?

Which cable do i need to attach monitor to macbook pro for optimum display resolution?
    thank you

The resolution is supported, whether at 60 Hz, I do not know.
    Here are the Monitor Specs:
    http://www.dell.com/downloads/global/products/monitors/en/dell_ultrasharp_u2713h _specs.pdf
In order to obtain the resolution that you require, it seems that you will need a minidisplayport - minidosplayport cable such as this:

I do not know the answer to that.  Experiment or call Dell technical support.

  • Which cables do I need to view contents on my computer on my tv

Which cables do I need to view contents from my computer on my tv?

Look at your Panasonic owners manual for what type of inputs it accepts.  The odds are there will be a HDMI plug.  You will need that type of cable plus an adapter to connect to your MBP.  In addition check how the TV has to be set for computer or HDMI input.

  • Which cables do I need?

    Hi.
I'm wanting to extended my MacBook display onto my TV, for films, etc... But I'm not sure which cables I need; There's so many in the Apple store.
I have a Sony Bravia TV, and would also like sound to be transferred.
    Any help?
    Cheers.

Ok, you need an Apple mini-DVI adapter. Best choice would be the one that outputs to DVI. Your TV may have DVI, but if not, it certainly has HDMI. You can get a DVI->HDMI converter if that is the case. Apple sells both of those items.
Audio might be a little tricky however if your TV has HDMI (rather than DVI) and that is what you choose to use. This is because your TV will think that the audio is supposed to come in on that HDMI input. I'm not sure your TV will be able to take audio from a different input and still display the HDMI video. You might need to reference your TV's manual to get more information. If your TV has DVI, then you should be able to feed audio into a separate input without a problem because DVI does not carry audio.
An easier solution might be to just use your TV's composite input. That is the Yellow/Red/White set of jacks. Apple sells a mini-DVI to video adapter. You would still need a separate cable to carry the audio however. That cable would plug into your MacBook headphone jack and then plug into the Red/White jacks on the TV.
Perhaps someone with a Sony Bravia can chime in with more info??

  • Which cable adapter I need to conet my elite monitor HP 21.5 to my desktop

I bought HP elite to upgrade my monitor but I didn't know that need a dp conection, so I bought a addapter

    Here are the specs for your HP Pavilion p7-1414 Desktop Computer and here are the specs for your HP Elite L2201x 21.5-inch LED Backlit LCD Monitor. Based on this information, the monitor only has a DisplayPort input and your computer only has a VGA and DVI output. You cannot drive a DP monitor with anything but a DP capable graphics card. There is no adapter that will solve your issue. You will need to purchase and install a DP capable graphics card to use this monitor. Please see the DisplayPort.org website and this FAQ for more information about your issue;
Q: I just purchased a monitor that only has a DisplayPort connection. How can I hook this up to my computer that only has VGA, DVI or HDMI?
A: There is not a cost effective way to do this. The adaptors that are available only work from a DP computer to a VGA, DVI or HDMI monitor and not the other way around. If you have a desktop you can purchase a graphics card with DisplayPort. Our best advice: Before you purchase a DP only monitor make sure you have DP on your computer.

  • What Cable Do I Need To Connect My MacBook With a Cinema Display?

    Hi,
I have got a 23" old HD Cinema Display. It is the one with the transparent plastic around the outside. I have a 13" MacBook, Oct 2008 then discontinued, the one that looks like a MacBook Pro, and I would like to connect the laptop to the display. Which cable would I need to connect the two?
The cable coming off the cinema display has three lines on ten metal dots on the right, and a line, with two dots above and below it, on the left. On the Macbook I have got a mini dvi port.
    Thanks,

The first problem is that the 23 inch display with oval ADC connector has no power supply. You will need something like the Apple DVI-to-ADC converter, which contains the power supply to generate the 28 Volt power at up to 4 Amps needed to run the display. This will convert your display to a DVI display with a power supply "brick" in the cable. These converter/power units are readily available on the used market and have an AC power cord.
If your MacBook is an Aluminum body, it has a Mini DisplayPort. [Older models had a Mini DVI, where the center partition was folded into a C-shape.] Mini DisplayPort can be forced into "Single-Link DVD compatibility mode" with an inexpensive adapter. This solution works for DVI displays up through 1920 wide, beyond which you need the much more expensive Dual-Link converter. {If your had the Mini DVI, that is also a simple adapter.]

  • If I have an American MacBook from 2009, what cables do I need to hook it up to an English tv?

I have a MacBook from late 2009. I want to show my videos on iMovie in England to family but I have an American computer. Which cables do I need to connect my American computer to an English tv?

    Hi,
You don't need any special cables to connect. You can use either VGA, DVI or HDMI cables they will work absolutely fine. There's no difference between an American and a British MacBook

  • Which cable to use with macbook air

I need to do an extensive download.  Right now I'm on our wirless network here at the house.  I need to use a hardwire connection to our modem to decrease download time.  Which cable do I need to connect to the modem?  BTW we are on Comcast.

You need an ethernet cable, however, the MacBook Air does not have an ethernet port so you will need a USB to ethernet adapter or a Thunderbolt to ethernet adapter.

  • Which cable to connect macbook pro to tv

WHich cable would I need to connect my macbbok pro to my 5 yr old panasonic viera tv - not HD but has HD ports. Hopefully to get audio without extra speakers.

I suggest a HDMI to HDMI cable since your MBP has a HDMI port.  This would be the simplest option.
