WHICH CARRIERS WILL ALLOW ME KEEP MY PHONE NUMBER WITH NEW SIM CARD?

WHICH CARRIERS IN USA WILL ALLOW ME TO KEEP MY PHONE NUMBER WITH NEW SIM CARD ON AN IPHONE 5S?

thank you.
i did not know that it was different from normal writing where one might use all caps to cull the attention of the public---as in a newspaper advertisement selling an item and the caps would be intended to make the ad stand out from other advertisements.  i'm old school i guess but im learning & i thank you.
Did not intentionally try to yell at the readers.  Hope i didn't wake anyone up!!!  Again, my apology.  Thanx.

  • Help! - iPhone 2g will not activate with new sim card

I have been given an iPhone 2g for my son. Have activated a new sim card as 02 said this was the reason I could not activate on iTunes. Still cannot get the phone activated. I have reset all settings so am now lost as to what to do next!

I have tried that but the phone is not being recognised when I connect it to iTunes. I keep getting a message on the phone saying "new sim detected - please connect to iTunes". When I connect to iTunes I get the message "unable to activate - please try later - disconnect the phone" - very, very, frustrating. Didn't have any problems at all when my older son took over my iPhone 3G and put a 3 sim in it (after being unlocked).

  • Ipad Air 2 cellular/Wifi - With new sim card installed keeps on saying NO SIM

I got new ipad air 2 - installed Carrier sim card, Ipad keeps on saying no sim found  "NO SIM"
On call with Apple technicians this problem was resolved by resetting the network settings, but today again its showing NO SIM
Has anyone else encountered this problem

Chiming in from the US, it seems that a lot more of us are having this issue as well lately. My iPad has worked well under 3 OSs and I have never seen that NO SIM message until this week. I am running iOS 5 since it was released, but have not yet upgraded to iOS 5.0.1, and all of a sudden, I see that NO SIM message pretty much all the time.
I have never removed my SIM or had any trouble with 3G before this week. It's not a big problem for me since I don't use it very often at all - not even on a data plan now - but it's annoying and not what I paid for. And if it happens to my wife, she'll be in trouble.
Apple folks, has there been any official acknoeldgement for this issue, and has it been properly elevated so it will be addressed? There are quite a few threads on this out there.

  • Newly-unlocked iPhone 4 will not activate with new sim card

I recently bought a used iPhone 4 from a friend and brought it with me to Cambodia. The friend initited a request to AT&T to unlock the phone so I could use it, and the request was granted by AT&T. She forwarded me the email with instructions, but I have not been able to successfully complete the unlock. The instructions say:
Open iTunes on your Mac or PC and verify that you have Internet connectivity.
Ensure a SIM card is inserted into your iPhone.
Connect your iPhone using the dock connector to USB cable that came with your iPhone.
Backup and restore your iPhone using iTunes. For information on backup and restore, please visit http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414.
After restoring, your iPhone will be unlocked.
When I try this, it refuses to recognize that there is a SIM card installed.
The instructions don't say it has be any particular SIM card, just "a SIM card" so I'm using my local SIM. I also tried a second SIM with the same result.
Any ideas why this isn't working or what I should try next?

I can't even get to an option that asks me that question. I don't want any of the data on the phone now, as that is my friend's data, but I can't even get to a place where I can delete her data or anything else.
All I get is the "activation" screen options (choose language, country, wifi network) and then the error message that "Activation Failed - please insert a SIM card."
I'm not sure if that clarifies exactly what you're asking, My apologies if it doesn't, and try asking me again.

  • Can I keep my phone number if I switch to a different carrier?

I have an iPhone 5 and will soon be upgrading to an iPhone 6 or maybe a 6s.
Currently I have a contract with Verizon.  I am considering switching to a prepaid plan with T-Mobile.
I'm not sure this is correct, but my understanding is that phones for T-Mobile and Verizon use different types of SIM cards.  I am wondering if I could keep the phone number I have had with Verizon if I switch to T-Mobile.
    Can I do that?

You would have to ask your new provider if they can port your number

  • HT1766 After restoring my iphone 4 to factory settings, then restoring from a recent backup, my phone will reboot but keeps coming back to the "new setup or restore from backup screen". How can I by-pass this screen to go directly to the sync apps/music s

After restoring my iphone 4 to factory settings, then restoring from a recent backup, my phone will reboot but keeps coming back to the "new setup or restore from backup screen". How can I by-pass this screen to go directly to the sync apps/music screen?

Well, it's certainly behaving as though the phone that was backed up was synced to a different iTunes library.
I'm going to throw one more thing out there... Yes, you backed it up to this computer... Was the phone previously set up to sync with this computer? Or was it syncing with a different computer and you just backed it up to this one?
You may have to end up setting it up as a new device and rebuilding the phone by manually re-syncing your data, apps, music, etc. to the phone.
Trying to keep your library on a different drive can be tricky. If iTunes starts up and the library isn't available, it may end up generating a new library ID, meaning that you could easily find yourself in exactly the position you're in now...
I'm curious why there was a need to restore your phone to begin with... It may not have any bearing on this at all, but it could.

  • I am elidgible to upgrade in December and will most likely get the iphone 6.  My daughter has an iphone 4 with a year left to upgrade.  I'd like to know:  If when I upgrade can I give her my old iphone 5 but she keep her phone number and I keep my phone n

Can I give my daughter my old phone when I upgrade w/o any additonal fees, penalities etc on our shared plan?...  She has a 4 that we can sell or donate. Can we keep our old numbers?

You can do this.  She will need to get a new SIM card (they are free) for the iPhone 5 and activate it on her number, but it's entirely doable.

  • Can I keep my phone number but drop the internatio...

Hi, I want to keep my phone number but not internation. Is this possible? Thanks, Sonya

    Hi Sonya,
Your Online Number is linked to your subscription, which means as long as you have your subscription your Online Numbers is extended for free.
If you cancel or change your subscription you will need to start paying for your Online Number separately. Currently subscriptions don't include free Online Numbers.

theres been discussions on 'unlocking the phone' do you think this could make it operate with my sim card?
Like you mentioned, she bought it from the Vodafone store and most likely the phone is locked to Vodafone. But, in your case since you are using the same carrier's SIM card (Vodafone), "unlocking the phone" is not an issue. Aside from that "phone unlocking" is ONLY done by the carrier and Vodafone NZ doesn't offer unlocking. (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1937)
As you have already tried restoring the phone (which technically wasn't required) and SIM change, your best option is to take the phone to Vodafone store and ask them to activate it for you.

  • My iphon 5 said "only compatible sim cards from a supported carrier may be used to activate iphone. please insert the sim card that came with ur phone or visit a supported carrier's store to receive a replacement sim card" what do i do???

my iphon 5 said "only compatible sim cards from a supported carrier may be used to activate iphone. please insert the sim card that came with ur phone or visit a supported carrier's store to receive a replacement sim card" what do i do??? i leave in diferent country now!!!???(((

in many countries to make phones seem less expensive
carriers pay most of the phones price for the customer
but this come at the cost of the phone only being able to work
with the carrier this is called a sim lock
the only people who can remove a sim lock is the carrier which
the phone is sim locked to they been doing it like that for at least 20 years

  • Can I keep my phone number on my iMessage account if I replace my iPhone?

So long story short, my contract is expiring soon which means time for a new phone. However I'm looking to experiment with Android. Who knows, may end up going back but anyway, I have a MacBook and an iPad. Since a large amount of my contacts use iMessage, I would like to keep my phone number so my contacts know its me (I have too many to tell them all individually that I'm switching). Is this possible if I keep my Mac and/or my iPad?

You would have to ask your new provider if they can port your number

  • I will studying in the UK for the next year and want to know if an unlocked iPhone 4S with a new sim card purchased in the UK will work as opposed to getting a new phone?

I will studying in the UK for the next year and want to know if an unlocked iPhone 4S with a new sim card purchased in the UK will work as opposed to getting a new phone?  There seem to be differeing opinions on this.

Iphone 4s only has one version so it should work world wide in any carrier..As long as it's and unlocked version ofcourse.

  • Waiting for Activation i have an iphone 3g. iphone is from my old contract and i have given it to my girlfriend. she then went to the O2 store and they gave her a new sim card which is compatable with iphone 3g. O2 have told me the phone is not blocked.

" fault code,,,,,waiting for activation, this may take some time,,,,,"       O2 gave my gf the contract and the new sim card to go into my old iphone 3g which was with O2 previous, O2 have assured us that the phone's imei number is not blocked, they have also said the sim is activated and there is no reason why the phone should not work. the phone is out of date warranty. the sim card does work in other handsets, also my sim from my iphone 3gs does not work in the iphone 3g. i have spent hours litterally on the phone to O2 and now to apple, but because i am out of warranty apple want £25 just to even listen to me over the phone. someone please help me. i am getting very frustrated for hopefully what might be an easy fix for someone. i have done all the resets that are possibly humainly possible, i have done all the resores you can do, have sync'd on many occasions all to come up with the same fault. i am still getting O2 in the top left corner but with no bars and when trying to call it fails imediately. wifi is fine, it works as an ipod.

ONLY AT&T can legally/legitimately unlock it.  No one else at all.

  • I got factory unlocked iphone5s A1530 model from india with warranty... Now i shifting to rgina canada so will this phone work in canada with canadian sim card...with canadian operators

I got factory unlocked iphone5s A1530 model from india with warranty... Now i shifting to regina canada so will this phone work in canada with canadian sim card...with Canadian operators permanently...

Remember though, that although you have warranty on this phone, it is only valid in India and NOT Canada, because you purchased the phone in India and iPhone warranty is country specific, so if you have problems with the phone, then you'll need to take it back to India to get it fixed.
If you will be in Canada for any length of time, then buy a new phone in Canada.  It will be guaranteed to work then and you will also have warranty cover.

  • Iam soon going to buy the I Phone 3.But will my Ornage 3G sim card fit in or will i have to buy a new sim card ??

Will my Orange Sim card fit in to the I Phone 3 or will i need to purchase a new sim card ?

Both the iPhone 3G and 3GS use full sized SIM cards, the iPhone 4 and 4S use the micro SIM card.
