Which cat6 ethernet cable should I buy?

My current project is re-networking our house. Currently I have 2 AE running our wireless network, bridged over wifi. I would like to run ethernet to the second AE so that the bridge is over ethernet not wifi. Hopefully this will allow a stronger signal in our house and push the network outside to our backyard.
I have read that some cables are rated better to prevent fire hazards. Is this something I should be worried about or can I buy standard cable?

Cables that are rated for fire are not because the signals running through the cable will cause the cables to catch on fire but it is where the cable is physically routed to prevent that cable from being burnt. These are typically used in plenum spaces in building.
As far as the cable category, you want at least CAT-5e cable. This cable is capable of 1 Gbps bandwidth. CAT-6 would only be recommended if your were running 10 Gbps+ neworks. We're not quite there yet at the consumer level. However, if you can get CAT-6 cable for at the same or nearly the same price as CAT-5e there shouldn't be any reason not to.
One important note. Gigabit requires that all four of the twisted pairs of wires in the Ethernet cable are used. If you plan on running land-line phone service (sort of becoming a dinosaur technology today), you want to run an additional Ethernet or dedicated phone cable instead of trying to use a single Ethernet cable run for both services. It was typical in the 90's when a home was offered with Ethernet pre-wired they used the cable runs for both. This limited the Ethernet to 100 Mbps.

  • Which iPhone 6 model should I buy to be sure it will work in Europe (Croatia)? Is it A1586?

Which iPhone 6 model should I buy in USA to be sure it will work in Europe (Croatia)? Is it A1586? When I return to Croatia, I'll use it on T-mobile network which has 3G, 4G and LTE band.

Read the post properly and see what he actually said in the post:-
His post actually said "The A1586 is the model sold IN AND FOR CROATIA."
This is not the same as that model being available for sale in the USA and when you go to the US you cannot pick and choose which model you buy.  The iPhone is country specific and you will have to purchase the model that is available in the USA.
The USA has CDMA and GSM iPhones, so when you go you would want to purchase the GSM phone and probably the T-Mobile Contract free phone as no unlocked phones are currently for sale in the US.
If you purchase the T-Mobile Contract free phone in the US, then is should work when you return to Croatia, but it will not work on 4G/LTE because of frequency differences in the US.  The phone should work okay on 3G, but not 4G or LTE.
Also, remember that if you purchase any phone in the US you will have no warranty cover on your return to Croatia - iPhone warranty is not international and is country specific, so if you have a problem with the phone, you are looking at flying back to the US to get the phone fixed.
The phone will probably work in Croatia, but there is no guarantee of this and it will not work on the 4G LTE that is available there.

  • What firewire cable should I buy?

What firewire cable should I buy to connect my Macbook to my external drive Western Digital My Book Studio 500GB Quad Interface with Firewire 400/800? I am buying several of each for a new film class and I want to be sure to get the right equipment! (I'm confused about amounts of pins)
    Thanks for helping a novice!

There are two types of cables - FW800 and FW400. However, your MacBook does not support FW800 so all you need is the standard FW400 cable. It has six (6) pins.

  • What cat 5e cable should one buy?

    Some good info here
    http://www.howtogeek.com/70494/what-kind-of-ethernet-cat-5e6a-cable-should-i-use/
    mainly depends on your requirements...
If you are buying a lot then maybe go for cat6a which will help in the long run if going 1gb..

I came across a post asking whether people buy cheap network cables or premium cables and it was an interesting question which raised another question.
One thing that I picked up was to make sure that the cables were not CCA (Copper Cladded Aluminium) which apparently is bad.
However, the post did not really cover what what should be looking for in a patch lead.
Should it be AWG26 or AWG24.  Should one use booted or non booted or strain relief for cabinets and connecting computers to network port.  What other considerations should one take into account?
    Any thoughts?

  • Which USB Firewall cable do I Buy.......

to transfer data from my old iMac to my new 20" iMac?
the instructions are no help at all - showing merely a USB cable with the same connectors on each end. Yet i cannot find such a cable at any of the cable stores.
Can anyone tell me the FULL NAME of the cable I should order?
    thanks

Purchase a FireWire cable with 6 pins at each end. If the old iMac doesn't have any FireWire ports, use any Ethernet cable instead.

MK.None. You don't need a reference manual yet; you need a book that actually teaches you something. So explain why you are learning Java at this point in your career and perhaps a more fitting book can be recommended to you.

  • Which OS and software should I buy to  merge photos

I read several discussions regarding to the merge/combine iPhoto library but still not sure the right step to do because my computer and software is quite outdated  I have
    1.  IMAC Processor  3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo OS X Lion 10.7.5 iPhoto 7.1.5 with  20,000+ photos and 2000 + movies. and
    2. Macbook air  1.3 GHz Intel Corei5 OS X 10.9.5  iphoto 9.4.3with 7,000+photos
i would like to merge the photos from Macbookair to IMAC and update iphoto in IMAC to the version that can play vdo (currently i have to see vdo from i movie). some pictures are the same in both computers,
    please help recommend
1 do I have to update my operating system first which OS do you recommend
    2. what software should I buy i.e. aperture, iphoto library manager( i saw this name from one of the discussion).
it would be nice if you could advise a step by step to me as Im not good at computer
Thank you very much in advance

If you have Aperture 3.3 or later and iPhoto 9.3 or later you can merge libraries with Aperture.
Otherwise the only way to merge Libraries is with the paid ($30) version of iPhoto Library Manager
As a: Aperture is more expensive and b: it's no longer developed, Library Manager is a better buy for your usage.
I would ask on the iMac forum about the best OS for that machine. Once you know that you'll be able to choose a version of iPhoto appropriate.

  • Which macbook pro retina should i buy?

Hello guys! Im really not sure which macbook should i buy:
    1) Maccbook pro retina early 2013 with 256gb/8gb/hd 4000 or
    2) Later 2013 macbook pro retina with 128gb/4gb/iris graphics.
Im going to use it for photography and to edit videos, but nothing professional. And also for basic stuff that i need in university or even to play some games like simcity and the sims 3/4..
    What do u think guys?

I see you are choosing from the refurbished units.  Good move.
I would concentrate on RAM size, SSD size and of course price.  In my opinion those are bigger factors than the difference in GPUs.
4 GB of RAM is sufficient of most programs but some applications do better in 8 GB.  You cannot upgrade RAM and memory demands are likely to grow over time.  So 8 GB is future proofing the system.
A big question is do you need 128 or 256 GB of SSD?  How much storage do you use now?  How much more are you likely to use (more music, photos, videos…)?  If this will be near 100 GB then I would opt for 256 GBs of SSD.  The SSDs are not upgradeable while under warranty.
    Refurbished, Feb-2013, 8 GB, 256 GB, Intel HD Graphics 4000: $1,230.  <<<- #1 In your list
Refurbished, Oct-2013, 4 GB, 128 GB, Intel Iris Graphics: $1,100. <<<- #2 in your list
For the difference of $170 I would choose the 8/256 GB model.

  • Which External Hard Drive Should I buy?

What brand of external hard drives for the macbook do you guys recommend? Where should I buy it from?
I will be using it to boot from, so I want something fast. As for size, 250+ GB is plenty. I am more interested in how fast I can run OS X on it.
    Thanks,
    KANE

Depending on what interface you want, you have a variety of choices from Other World Computing. I bought one of the basic OWC Neptune FW400 drives mainly for backup, but it is also bootable on my older machine. The newer Intel machines can boot via USB 2, so that might be a good faster option for your MacBook, but they have some OWC Mercury drives that offer multiple interface options, so you have the flexibility of FW400/800 USB2/1.

Get two of them, so you can make a regularly scheduled backup, using DejaVu, Retrospect, or CarbonCopyCloner, etc...

  • Cat5 vs cat6 ethernet cable

I'm trying to transfer info from a PC to a new Macbook pro using a cat5 ethernet cable.  The two computers can't even find each other.  Do I really need a cat 6 or is something else wrong?

I doubt that a cat 5 ethernet cable is the problem.
Are both comupter able to see the other computer over the network?

  • Which Macbook Pro Standard should I buy

Should I buy a Macbook Pro Standar mid 2012 or sould I wait for the updates?? Will be there updates for the macbook pro standard or death has come for them??

As far as anyone knows there is not a new standard macbook pro. Will there be, yes. When, no one knows. Will it have a dvd drive? Again no one knows. Those things only apple knows and they aren't telling.
Even if you wait to see what the newer models include, when apple releases them, you can still buy a older model as new or a refurb.

  • Which AV cable should I buy

I have a Classic 160 that I'd like to connect to my TV. I'm a bit confused as to which cable is going to work for me and I don't want to spend £35 as an experiment.
I have a Panasonic TV which is not HD, it's a CRT but a good TV. However it does have the component sockets (Y,Pb,Pr) and the instruction booklet for the TV says this terminal will accept normal interlace formats as well as progressive format. Now I assume this to be the xxxi and xxxp that is listed in the cable descriptions on this site. It also has the standard RCA audio/video socket (red, yellow and white).
    Any ideas?

Hi, buy the one that connects to the ipod from below, ie the same place where the usb cable connects to your ipod. Do not buy the one that connects to the audio jack on the top, that will not work. That only works with a 30 gb ipod with Video. The later ones, ie the classics, can only the use the cable that connects to the ipod from the bottom, the other end of it has the 3 coloured standard cables and would connect to the tv.
Unfortunately Apple does not put any labels on the cables letting all know which cable is compatible with which model.

  • Which package of dreamweaver should I buy for my local scout association? Personal? smallbusiness? It's only user will be me

    Hello,
I want to create a webpage for my local scout association, and I would like to use dreamweaver to do it.
It's not something I will get paid for.
But I can not figure out which package I need to buy.
Because it is only me who will be using it, and therefore I thought it should be a personal license.
But I am also a student at university college of northern, therefore I thought it should be a Student license.
but maybe I'm wrong and it should be a license for a small business?
Can anybody please explains to me which package I need to buy?
In advance thank you for your time :-)
    //Lars

if you can qualify as a student, getting a student license is less expensive (but more of a hassle to obtain because of documentation needed).
otherwise, you would get a personal/individual license.

  • What cable should i buy if i need to hook up my tv

    Hi ,
I have a mac book pro ( aluminium) which i bought in 2010 , i just purchased a hd tv . Can anyone help me out on the exact specification of the cable i need to buy to hook my laptop to the tv ? ty
    Regards,
    Anoop

You'll need a Mini DisplayPort adapter and a cable from that to your TV. Here's the various types of Mini DisplayPort adapters on Amazon.com http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=min   i-dvi&x=9&y=13#/ref=nb_sb_ss_sc_2_16?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=mini +  displayport&sprefix=mini+displayport&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Amini+displayport
If you connect the MacBook using a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter you will probably need to use external speakers or a 3.5mm stereo headphone jack to RCA sound plugs connected to a stereo sound system if your TV doesn't have separate RCA input plugs or a 3.5mm stereo input plug for audio with the HDMI plug. The Mini DisplayPort to HDMI doesn't carry audio unless you have the Mid 2010 model 7,1 and there're no audio plugs on most TVs to work with HDMI since it's expecting audio with the HDMI. Check your TV manual to see if it has audio plgs that work with one of the HDMI ports.
With the Late 2008 model 5,1 Aluminum Unibody there is an adapter that uses the Mini DisplayPort and a USB port to combine video and audio to HDMI. It's only 2 channel stereo not 5.1 Dolby Surround.
