Which certification to opt for?

Hi, I am software engineer. I worked as a plsql developer / oracle developer for more than 2 years.
That time my project used oracle 9i. I am aware of all sql fundamentals, pqsql fundamentals and oracle 9i db architecture.
However,to improve and to have expertise I am thinkin of taking oracle certification (OCA) either 10g or 11g.
Could anyone please tell me which one to opt for?. I know that 10g is widely spread in the market and 11g is surely making its way in the market.
I am confused about the exam choice - OCA 10g or OCA 11g??

I would say get get Oracle Developer OCA and OCP Certifiactions first, then if you want go back and study DB admin 11g OCA go ahead.
The developer certifications are not so dependent on Oracle Version as are the DBA Certifications, and you should fly through them fairly quickly.
Consider exam 1z0-047(SQL certified expert) or 1z0-051
Then ideally 1z0-144 (or as a fallback 1z0-147) - gets you OCA.
Then 1z0-146 - gets you developer OCP.
whichever you choose (developer or DBA) its usually best do one of 1z0-007/047/051 first.

one of my friend is in to Retail domain..non SAP Domain working with one retail channel as a store manager. ...Wants to learn SAP....which module should he go for..SD / CRM / or direct IS_Retail certification...as a fresher where he will be able to get chance...???
i am working as a SAP Recruiter in some company..so i am aware that there is not much demand for fresher in this industry..
    please guide...

Plenty of information about Retail education on <a href="https://websmp104.sap-ag.de/RETAIL">Service Marketplace - Retail</a> where you will find course descriptions.  For example:
This curriculum comprises an Overview Course (Level 2), which explains the main retailing processes in SAP for Retail, plus seven Detailed Courses (Level 3), which examine specific retailing processes and how these are mapped and controlled in SAP for Retail.
The Overview Course IRT100 (Retail Process Overview) explains the core processes of a retailing company. Based on a scenario in which merchandise is sold from stores, the course demonstrates how the store and distribution center are supplied with goods. Further process examples are the special cases of promotions and return of merchandise.

  • ActiveSync - Which one to opt for FlatFile or Database?

    Hi,
Please suggest which ActiveSync is better in terms of Performance, FlatFile or Database.
We need to use the better performing out of these two.
    Please suggest.
    Thanks,
    Jolly

    Other issues...
We use DBTables for the reasons suggested above. We use logic to limit the number of rows we read and we do write data back to the tables from within IM. These DB tables are used primarily to read data from source systems into IM and to map the data to existing accounts, or create new ones as necessary.
What we do... and I expect this is common... is we get a full extract from our source system, and we compare our current table to the data coming from the source system. Then we update any rows in our table where the data has changed, and update a timestamp. The active sync then reads any rows with a timestamp since the last Sync run.
So in a sense, we're doing the same processing that you would do with a text-based diff file.
The advantages of doing the DBTable method are that it behaves (mostly) like a real resource, so you can (1) do reconciles and (2) if you have any data corruption, you can reload the entire data source (by resetting the "last read" date in the resource config). We also update the rows -- we read the row, determine what account the row should be associated with, then write an account attribute out to the table so we don't have to correlate multiple times -- which as JerseyGuy notes can't be done with a text file.
Main disadvantage of the DBTable is that it won't detect deletes. We have a special value that we write to a row when it's deleted, and the Sync workflow detects that value and changes the operation when that value is encountered. But it won't natively detect the deletion.

    1.EP (totally new for me)
    2.XI (totally new for me)
    3.WAS (totally new for me)

    -rajesh

    Hi Rajesh,
As you have said, you have only one month experience in ABAP. But, if you have atleast 1 year experience in JAVA or J2EE applications then i would suggest to you to go for WAS certification. Course name is
"Development Consultant SAP NetWeaver´04 - Web Application Development Focus JAVA "
You can clear this certification, if you will take training for the same in banglore.

    Tina,
I would go crazy if this was me.  You may find this interesting from the customer agreement (to see full agreement go here:Customer Agreement | Verizon Wireless):
"HOW AND WHEN CAN I DISPUTE CHARGES?
If you're a Postpay customer, you can dispute your bill within 180 days of receiving it, but unless otherwise provided by law or unless you're disputing charges because your wireless device was lost or stolen, you still have to pay all charges until the dispute is resolved. If you're a Prepaid customer, you can dispute a charge within 180 days of the date the disputed charge was incurred. YOU MAY CALL US TO DISPUTE CHARGES ON YOUR BILL OR ANY SERVICE(S) FOR WHICH YOU WERE BILLED, BUT IF YOU WISH TO PRESERVE YOUR RIGHT TO BRING AN ARBITRATION OR SMALL CLAIMS CASE REGARDING SUCH DISPUTE, YOU MUST WRITE TO US AT THE CUSTOMER SERVICE ADDRESS ON YOUR BILL, OR SEND US A COMPLETED NOTICE OF DISPUTE FORM (AVAILABLE AT VERIZONWIRELESS.COM), WITHIN THE 180–DAY PERIOD MENTIONED ABOVE. IF YOU DO NOT NOTIFY US IN WRITING OF SUCH DISPUTE WITHIN THE 180-DAY PERIOD, YOU WILL HAVE WAIVED YOUR RIGHT TO DISPUTE THE BILL OR SUCH SERVICE(S) AND TO BRING AN ARBITRATION OR SMALL CLAIMS CASE REGARDING ANY SUCH DISPUTE."
This may help you also: Arbitration and Mediation FAQs | Verizon Wireless
You can dispute any charges by doing an Arbitration or Mediation.  I have never done it, so I can not help much there but this all may get you started.
Let me know if any of this works! Good Luck! Please keep me updated. I really hope they help you.

  • Which book is good for java certification 5

    Hi All
I wish to be recommend a good book for Java 2 Certification Study Guide for SCJP.
Hopefully it is a book with good explanation.
    regards
    Tj

    Hello;
I ran a SCJP5 study group at my work to get us all certified. We went with with Sierra, Bates book. ISBN 0072253606. The group found the book very useful and clear in understanding.
Most in the study group were vetran Java developers without any certifications. There was one or two that were learning Java. All of us had our annual bonus depanant on passing the cert. We were all highly motivated.

    Hi, Ravi.
Based on your experience, you may want to start working your way to earning an MCSA for Windows Server 2012 R2. It requires you to pass three exams. The first exam you may want to take on is 70-410 which is on install Windows Server 2012.
Here is the MCSA: Windows Server 2012 certification title description:
    http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en-us/mcsa-windows-server-certification.aspx
As you can see, it will require you to pass three exams. Here they are:
70-410 Installing and Configuring Windows Server 2012
    http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en-us/exam-70-410.aspx
    70-411 Administering Windows Server 2012

70-412 Configuring Advanced Windows Server 2012 Services

Microsoft offers free online training through different web sites. Consider these as a few of the many resources you can use to study for these exams.

By the way - if you are still in school and prefer a more entry-level certification, you can also consider the MTA certification track designed for college students:

  • Which  current Mac Pro for Aperture/Photoshop

After much research and what seems to be chasing my tail, I though I'd ask the forum for some advice on which machine will best suit my needs. I am currently running Aperture and Photoshop CS3 and looking for a fast machine for the job. I sort through around 2500-3000 raw files per week and hope the new Intel Xeons will speed up my workflow. It's the question of "How many cores are better?" that's confusing me as I am unclear on how many Aperture and Photoshop can actually make use of.
I'm looking to upgrade from my 3.06 iMac to a Mac Pro but having trouble choosing between a new 2.66 quad or a refurbished 2.26 8-core. I understand the drop in processor speed might be noticeable in some instances but the from what I have gathered an upgrade to the ATI HD 4870 is a must as is 6GB ram on the 2.66 and 8GB ram on the 2.26. It's not so much the price difference of the two machines (£2200 for the upgraded 2.66 and roughly £2700 for a refurbished 2.26 plus upgrades) it's will my workflow see any great benefits from the 8-core over the quad. The program I use most is Aperture, followed by Photoshop then FotoMagico, iDVD and Toast Titanium. Does Snow Leopard affect the use of cores in these programs?
Any feedback is much appreciated or pointing in the direction of some real world tests as all the bench tests of the 8-core are so impressive but I'll not be using it for 3D/Video at all.
Thanks in advance for your help.

According to the Adobe blog the delay in offering a 64-bit suite for Mac is because the entire suite has to be rewritten in Cocoa (both previous and current offerings are written in Carbon) CS5 will be written in Cocoa and will utilise the full functionality of the Snow Leopard OS (OpenGL, GCD etc) so memory addressing will be a huge step forward on Photoshop (which I use).
I used Photoshop CS4 on a 2008 Mac Pro 2 x 2.8GHz 8 core (dual Xeon 5400 series Quad core CPUs) and just recently switched to a 2009 Mac Pro 2 x 2.26GHz 8 core (Xeon 5500 series Quad core CPUs). I used CS3 on the original Mac Pro 2 x 2.66Ghz (Dual Xeon Dual Core CPUs = 4 cores total). It's not a fair reflection as CS3 ran under Rosetta on the original Mac Pro and CS4 has better integration on the Intel based Macs, but in general, I noticed a much better rate of workflow on the 8 core machines over the 4 core machine.
More importantly, I would point out that running batch process of RAW files in CaptureOne Pro was significantly performing the batch process on the 8 core machines than on the 4 core machine. (250 RAW files {with no corrections] from a Canon EOS 1D MKII into 16-bitt TIFF files). I can't remember the exact figures but the 8 core machines were @ 23 - 25 minutes quicker than the 4 core machine.
I know it's not scientific and software versions were different which could add to the different results in part, but the 8 core machines both out performed the 4 core machine substantially.
However, the 2009 Mac Pro Quad Core is capable of running 2 threads per core (in effect a virtual 8 core machine and as many reviewers have pointed out, perform faster than the 8 core Mac Pro in certain applications (which have not been written to utilise the full multi-CPU-multi-core environment.
The Memory limitation on the Quad Core is 16GB RAM (Apple state 8GB but reviewers have installed 4 x 4GB DIMMs into the Quad Core without issue). Unless you are doing 3D or HD rendering etc you probably won't really need over 16GBs of RAM, however the cost of 4GB memory sticks is expensive. Crucial only offer a 12GB kit for the Quad Core Mac Pro 2009 to make full use of the triple channel memory speeds (DDR3 best performance in multiples of 3) and 12GBs from Crucial is @£771.00 (prices correct at time of writing this. This equates to @ £257 per 4GB.
    Total for Quad Mac Pro with 12GB (3 x 4GB RAM) = £2670
Total for Octo Core Mac Pro with 12GB (6 x 2GB RAM) =£2731 (New price not refurb)
Graphics card upgrade etc will be the same on both machines. Memory based on Crucial Memory prices.
So, for a 2009 Mac Pro with 12GB RAM, it is £61 dearer for an 8 core (virtual 16 cores) machine over the Quad Core Mac Pro. The 8 core system will give you further memory expansion once prices of the 4GB memory sticks come down significantly. The Quad Core will only be able to be upgraded with 8GB RAM sticks over the 4GB sticks available now and will cost a huge amount at time of launch.
Buying a refurbishment 2.26 GHz with similar memory upgrade would in my opinion be the way to go. I know the CPU clock speed is lower, but in real time non memory intensive applications the difference will be hardly noticeable.
I went through the same dilemma as you. I opted for the 8 core system with 12GB RAM and the ATI HD4870 graphics (bought as an upgrade kit so was dearer than the build to order option). I am very happy with my purchase.
The other option is to check out eBay there may be a very well spec'd 2008 Mac Pro for sale with warranty, 16GB RAM and the 8800GT graphics card for less than either of the new systems.
Over the long term, the 8 core offers more affordable customisation options over the Quad Core, but it depends on how long you plan to use the machine

I recently purchased a Go pro Hero 4 Black which included a voucher for Adobe Photoshop Elements 12. Is elements 12 discontinued if so, will I be able to downloadAdobe Photoshop Elements 13?

    LAdyshopgirl
Premiere Elements 12 is no longer the current version of Premiere Elements. Premiere Elements 13 is. Probably Premiere Elements 12 is still in stock
at online vendors. Whether these online vendors accept "vouchers" is questionable.
You need to go by whatever the voucher says. It may be very specific for version 12 and be outdated at that. Is there an expiration date on the voucher.
Is there an installation disc included with the camera? If so, does it give a redemption code or serial number that you are supposed to use to install the
    program?
This is not Adobe. Rather a user to user forum.
My first impression is that you may have an outdated voucher. And, the details of that voucher need to be read carefully.
Please supply more information unless you opt to contact the seller of the camera for more details, especially if this "voucher" was a sales
incentive for the selling of the camera.

  • Replacing my HDD in my Early 2011 Macbook Pro...Trying to decide between Samsung 840 EVO 250 gb and Crucial M500 240 gb. Samsung is faster but less "mac-friendly". Should I opt for the Crucial due to the "mac-friendliness"?

I have a S.M.A.R.T error on my current Hitachi drive that came with me Early 2011 Macbook pro. Want to upgrade to SSD.
Trying to decide between Samsung 840 EVO 250gb and Crucial M500 240gb, at this gb range, the Samsung is faster and uses less wattage....ONE PROBLEM...I have read many user experiences that note it is much less mac-friendly...
The software samsung  offers is not IOS compatible and some report lower than expected speeds after installation...Also apparently the RAPID MODE of the drive, the fastest drive mode is nonexistant when installed on a Macbook pro?
Should I opt for the slower and more power cosuming Crucial M500 240gb SSD because it is more Mac-friendly? Does anyone have a Samsung 840 EVO 250 gb SSD installed in their macbook pro? What has been your experience?
    Thanks ahead of time!
    Resoure: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/crucial-m500-1tb-ssd,3551.html

I decided against the Evo as there are too many Mac users that have had issues with slow speed on them. Even without these, the main speed that Samsung states for the Evo comes form turbo Write which is a PC only feature as is software dependent.
I'm sorry but Crucials M500 is simply too slow compared to modern drives to be recomended. Read speed is ok, but the write is far too slow for the price.
I've used and installed both a Samsung 840 basic and a Samsung 840 Pro in 2 separate Mac books! and currently have the 840 Pro in my own MacBook Pro and it comes very highly recomended. It's all but the fastest Sata III drive you can buy - A few OCZ drives just edge it but the difference is negligible. Samsung by far have the best reliability though when it comes to SSD's. I've been getting 520Mb/s easily on mine consistently, and without getting a MacBook with a PCIe drive you won't get a faster more reliable drive.
I really would recommend nothing else.

    Lindsay,
Your iBookG4 is still a pretty awesome Mac. Like already said, it has the power to run Leopard, but it depends if you have an internal DVD drive.
Then I suppose you have to add up the cost of the OS, perhaps another 512MB RAM, iLife 08 and replacements for any favourite apps that you currently use (Leopard breaks a lot of stuff, but Intel breaks even more). Compare it to the cost of a new MacBook, which wil have all of that included and be 3-4x faster too.
It also depends on what you want to achieve with your iBook. My PMG4 still cuts it today, I still use it in preference to my new Mac Pro, It's about the same age as your iBook, and I'll only stop using it when it becomes "painfully" slow. My 1 year old son currently uses the Mac Pro (parts for a Mac Pro are easier to replace than those for a PMG4).
I think your choice is simple, if you can a cheap copy of Tiger, use that, it'll get your iPod Touch up and running. It came in DVD and 4 CD version (by request).
Leopard will work for you too but a lot of the best eye-candy requires quite a meaty graphics card and you may need a RAM upgrade and replacement software - OS9 Classic is not supported in Leopard.
