Which codec is needed for playing vp6 videos in Windows 7 (32 bits)?

I'm still trying to solve the media corrupted error, could you recommend me a codec for Windows 7 (32 bits) for playing vp6 videos?
Perhaps I'm not using the correct codec...
Thanks!
Noelia

Thanks for your answer, I'm doing this question here because I have Media problems with my JAVAFX 2.0 application since october.
I posted many questions about the error "media corrupted" and I couldnt get an answer for my problem. My application change videos all the time and I'm trying to solve the error.
I think that I was wrong choosing JAVAFX 2.0 because it's too new. I have to finish my app because my client is waiting...
I don't know what to do, I spent lot of time... I tested a lot of codecs and the problem persists. I hate vp6 videos.
Thanks
Noelia

  • Which codec to choose for a music video edit with this setup?

I am using a new camera (for me that is) a Panasonic Hdc Sd700 and have shot a music video with two of these cameras. I am using Clipwrap to encode and the options as far as I can see are:
    Apple Intermediate Codec (Aic)
    Apple ProRes 422
    Apple Prores 422 HQ.
I am going to use some effects so there will be several tracks of video to deal with. I have an external esata drive and another external FW800 drive.
I am working on a laptop (Macbook Pro) with these specs: 4 Gb Ram, 2.5 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Is 422 HQ to much too handle for this machine?
I still have much to learn .....

Is 422 HQ to much too handle for this machine?
It's overkill anyway, just based on the camera you are using. Regular ProRes or ProRes LT will be fine.
    Don't use Apple Intermediate.

  • Don't know which codec i need exactly. Anyone?

I was using Final Cut Pro 5.1.4 with mac pro
exported a project 720p25 with "export>using Quicktime conversions",
and now i am getting a white screen with sound fine.
The info viewed in quicktime movie info:
    Format :
16-bit Integer (little endian), Stereo (LR), 48000kHz
    HDV 720p25, 1280 x 720(1248x702), Millions
so i was wondering which codec i need exactly. Anyone?
    Many Thanks

Actually i am using the fcp with mac pro at my school's apple training centre
and they told me if i export it WIth using quicktime conversions
i can watch it with quicktime, and just quicktime, nothing more
i believe that's what he meant.
and the mac pro did work fine playing the mov with quicktime only, not also opening the fcp.
I mean, it happens a lot, right?
some videos just don't work on your mac but his is fine,
that's the computers' problem not the video, at least i think..
and i've been looking for other topics in the forum,
and most of them said look for codecs or even third party codecs,
turned out most of them mark the question solved.
that's why i thought the quicktime message was right,
some codecs are missing. it's just that i ended up failing finding the codec i need

  • Which codecs does iMovie for iPad support?

I have videos from a Canon Powershot camera which are in 1280 × 720, H.264, Linear PCM. I can import these videos to iMovie on iPad but when I open iMovie it does not show the files.
I have also tried to import the videos via iTunes Movie Sync. I can play the video on the iPad but can not import it to a new project in iMovie.
Which codecs does iMovie for iPad support? If I can play the movie on iPad, it should be possible to edit it?
Where do I find the codecs supported by iMovie for iPad?

iMovie was made to edit video shot on iOS devices; there is no support list, it was made to edit iOS video.
This allows iMovie to be stable (or should make it stable as the case may be).
That said, you are importing the video wrong, and may be in luck with your video.
The File sharing pane is just for importing iMovieiOS projects.
iMovie cannot edit video in the Movies app.
iMovie edits video that can be seen in the photos app.
So you need to import it via the photos tab, as you would photos.
The other option is using the camera connect kit.
If you can see the video in the Photos app, it is highly likely that you can edit it.
But be warned that using non-iOS sourced video can make iMovie very buggy and flakey.
Avid for iPad is made to edit more formats and might be a better choice if you have trouble.

  • How much external disk space is needed for editing HD video?

    If I'm using FCE:
    1) How much external disk space is needed for editing HD video:
if I downloaded 150mins of HD video? and
do editing with it which will have an output of 120mins.
Now PC, going to a MAC user soon   Windows XP

    Hi(bonjour)!
As a rule of thumb for HDV editing, use those numbers:
    12 to 15 meg/second for capturing ( your project is 150 minutes long, so 780 meg/minute, or 117 to 125 Gig).
If you do any editing, add transition, video effect, add 12 to 15 meg /second to the total.
As your project will have to be rendered for the print to tape operation, calculate 12 to 15 meg/second for all the length of your final movie. Add this amount to the total. (example: a 60 minutes movie : 49 Gig).
If you want to burn a DVD on your Mac, calculate 3 to 4 meg/second for downconversion to DV material if you check "self-contained" in quicktime export dialog. (example: your finished project is 60 minutes long : 10.8 Gig)
iDVD itself needs 3 to 4 times this amount if you want flawless operation.
Finally, if you use your internal hard disk for all this storage (it's not a good idea to capture on the same drive where Mac OS X belongs), your Mac OS needs some spare room to breath (doing caching, etc), and your hard drive must have a least 25% of free space to avoid file's fragmentation.
As hard drive's price drop, get the maximum size you can afford. 250 Gig is a good choice if you want to do just one project of 90 to 150 minutes at the time.

  • How can i change the default application to vlc player for playing any videos on my macbook?

How can i change the default application to vlc player for playing any videos on my macbook?

    1. Control click the file you want to open.
    2. Click Get Info.
    3. Under open with, pick the App you want to be default.
    4. Click Change All Button.
    5. Confirm your decision.
You have to do this with every file that has a different extension. You can't change the default for every file with a different extension in a single operation.

  • Which Codec is designed for production work?

Does anyone have a definitive answer to which Codec is designed for production work in FCP?
NONE HD, current footage is in Apple MPEG-2, and I want to convert it in FCP to a good, fast working codec. There seems to be many to choose from, and I know that many are not smart to use. So which ones are good ones to convert and work in?
I tried Apple ProRes422, but I could see a difference on screen in the quality of the original (MPEG-2) and the newly converted. I thought H264, but I was told this is NOT a production codec.

  • Oracle gateway for Oracle 10g DB on Windows 64 bit server

Is there any place that I can find Oracle dateway for Oracle 10g DB on Windows 64 bit server? I can only find Gateway for Oracle 11g on Windows 32 bit server. Please help me to identify this. Thanks.

    yingkuan:
Thanks a lot. The link tells the details. It seems that Oracle has not release Gateway for Oracle database 10.2.0.x on Windows 64 bit server. Probably they don't do it.
So under this circumstance, if I want to install Gateway (32 bit) on Oracle 10.2.0.3 DB on Windows 64 bit server for Teradata, I probably have to install Gateway software in another Oracle Home, then configure it right. Please give more advice on this. 32 bit Gateway will work for 64 bit database?

  • Video Problems (need suggestions for playing large videos)

I have a video that I need to play in Authorware. The piece
    starts out as a
Photo Slide Show, and then a video will come up. This will be
    published to
an EXE file, and loaded onto the computer's hard drive, for
    making a
    presentation of sorts.
The Authorware piece will be published at 800 x 600, and I
    want the video to
be as close to full-screen as possible.
I currently have the video file in 4 versions:
    .wmv 720x480 (1,561 KB)
    .avi 720x480 (43,346 KB)
    .wmv 800x600 (2,295 KB)
    .avi 800x600 (656,711 KB)
If I use any of these videos using the Digital Movie icon,
    the video will
play in the published file, but there is always a few seconds
    of laggy video
playback, and dropped frames. I'd like to use the 800x600
    .wmv file, because
of it's much smaller file size. Is there another way to play
    this video that
wouldn't have the laggy playback and skipped frames?
If the answer is to use an ActiveX Control, I'd need someone
    to point me in
the direction of some guide to using it, as I've never used
    any ActiveX
    Controls before.

    thanks, i'll check that out.

  • Which codec converting MP4 for editing?

I did a search on this question.  I have a copy of MPEG Streamclip.  But exactly what codec should I use so that there is little or no loss of data?  Streamclip defaults to Apple Motion JPEG A.  I see all the Apple ProRes codes; and two others - Apple FCP Uncompressed 8-bit/10-bit 4:2:2.  What exactly is different about these?
    Thanks.

    Hi William,
What are you looking to use the MP4 for as this will have a bearing on the type of MP4 codec to go for.
Motion JPEG A is an older (but still useful) codec. It's been superseded by many other MPEG formats.
ProRes is Apples latest codecs. Personally I love them. They give very good compression with very little loss in image. That's not to say there is none. ProRes422LT is one of the more lossy versions while 422HQ is the least lossy. They are aimed at 10bit video but can be used just as well for 8bit too.
Uncompressed is just what it infers. It has a lossless image but has the downside of being a large, uncompressed file size. You will also need a very fast harddrive to play this media at full rate.
My recommendation out of all of these would be ProRes422 Standard (ie, with no suffix of letters on the end). This will give you good all round performance for editing and image quality (although some high detail / high motion footage it may appear a little noisy).
    All the best
    Pi

  • HT3775 How do I know what kind of update I need to play downloaded videos?

Try using VLC (just search for it on Google). It's an open source video player that will play most downloadable video files.

  • What is good practice for playing multiple video's in a single swf?

    Hello,
I have build in the past a video wall with video's inside. After building this i came across some problems.
If you have too many video players loading at once it takes a lot of processing and the tweens in the
page while loading the video's where not moving fluidly, but more in a stuttering way.
After lot's of test i found a good working solution.  I imported the flv video's into flash en exported them on the timeline
as a embedded swf.  Then i externally loaded these swf files and that performed much better.
Is it even good practice to load multiple video instances at once? I used this time the LoaderMax of greensock but the video's
only play after it's completely loaded. I would like to find a way to progressive play all video's at.
Does someone has experience with this?
    Regards,
    Chris.

How about an XML file which supplies the title for each movie and the location or source of the video to be played?  Simple version below.
    <?xml version="1.0" ?>
    - <playlist>
    <video src="Gfx/video/Alex1.f4v" title="John Deere 330" />
    <video src="Gfx/video/Benni1.f4v" title="Hitachi Z240F" />
    <video src="Gfx/video/Scotti1.f4v" title="Hitachi Z350F" />
    <video src="Gfx/video/Scotti2.f4v" title="Hitachi Z350F" />
    </playlist>

    Hi!
Flash videos (ie .FLV files) are supported by your phone. It comes with adobe flash lite 3.0 which is based on Adobe Flash 8. Btw, are you playing the video from a the web such as youtube or you have the file stored to your phone?
    Hope this will help.

  • Which codecs (e.g. for MP3 etc..) are installed and/or used by MediaSource 3 o

Which codecs (audio or video) are installed and used by MediaSource versions 3.30.2 and 5.0.38?Is that information provided in the MS application anywhere?I checked under Device Manager | Sound, video and game controllers | Audio Codecs (Video Codecs) ..but I don't see any?specifically from Creative e.g. like ctmp3.acm which some other people see. I see no codecs (either audio or video) with name? ct**.** in those codec lists. I see the MPEG Layer-3 Audio Codec Version .9(Build 305) .. but what application installed it ? WMP ?Is that the codec used by MS for MP3 encoding and playback?- Mitch?

    Yup.
Here is a way you could solve this by adding an extra column and a small lookup table:
The lookup table is here for the copying:
    0
    1
    k
    kilo
    2
    M
    mega
    3
    G
    giga
    4
    T
    tera
    5
    P
    peta
    6
    E
    exa
    7
    Z
    zetta
    8
    Y
    yotta
In table 8 (the one on the left in the image) column A is where the values are.
    B1=A1÷(1024^VLOOKUP(INT(LOG(A1, 1024)), Binary Prefixes::A:D, 1))&" "&VLOOKUP(INT(LOG(A1, 1024)), Binary Prefixes::A:D, 2)&"B"
this is shorthand for... select cell B1, then type (or copy and paste from here) the formula:
    =A1÷(1024^VLOOKUP(INT(LOG(A1, 1024)), Binary Prefixes::A:D, 1))&" "&VLOOKUP(INT(LOG(A1, 1024)), Binary Prefixes::A:D, 2)&"B"
    select cell B1, copy,
now select all the cells in column B, paste
