  • Which Color Would You Pick??

I have a Pink Mini, I call her, Lauren. Yes! I name my iPods. Anyway, I am getting an iPod Nano 2nd Generation, which color would you get??? (Remember I am a girl!!!) But still, I am asking you what color would you get and If you have one, tell me how its running and would you recommend it to other people???? Thanks!!!

Personally, I'd just go with a color that you like since everyone has their own taste. I was going to buy a new iPod Nano but they don't come in the color I desire which is gold. If they came in gold, I might of scooped one right up. Anyways, I've seen all the new nanos in person and if I had to choose a very plain color that goes with anything silver but if I wanted to be more courageous and adventerous I would go with blue, pink, or green because they are much brighter and more vibrant.

  • Which color mode in psd cs4 is best to use for 2-color project, grayscale or cmyk?

The project is a photo montage. It was 4-color, now must become 2 colors.
So I've changed each of the original 4-color photos (jpg and eps) into separate psd files (as grayscale/duotone/montage-and assigned it One pantone color)
In a new psd "montage"  file, I plan to place each photo on its own layer, adjust tints, transparency, etc, to  create one new montage/flattened.
I'm not sure which color mode is best when setting up this new file, CMYK or grayscale?
Once the PS  doc is done, the job will be saved as a PDF for 2-color printing.
I want to insure the 2 pantone colors separate properly at press.
any advise how how to best achieve this?

Yes it is possible in InDesign. You will have to judge whether you feel more proficient in doing something new in Photoshop or in InDesign.
If you restrict this to being done in Photoshop, you just need to change the color mode to duotone and export the PDF file with the 'high quality print' profile or similar. Some other PDF settings may convert your duotone to a regular CMYK or RGB image.

  • Which color profile should I use?

I'm getting into doing some freelance graphic design, and I've been playing around with my awesome new C2D Macbook Pro. I am wondering, which color profile should I use? It's set on Color LCD, but I'm wondering about Adobe RGB or Apple RGB would those be better?
    Thanks!

I personally am a fan of the sRGB on the Mac. I think the blue comes out very nice when comparing it to the others.

  • How do I know which color of text?

Hey, you party who is interested in Pages [I use Pages v5.2 (1860), which is the latest]:  say I Highlight text to see which color it is, as I hope to use it elsewhere.
But I cannot: when it is a color that _is_ in the array of 30 colors, then no color is Highlighted in the array of 30 colors.  So need I rely on Trial & Error, i. e. just what looks right?
(With crayons, I _can_ see which color it is!)  Thank you.
                                                       < Beef, Beef, Beef! :-) >

You see the actual color of the text in the swatch in the Format sidebar.
Double clicking on that opens the Color Picker where you can choose any of the color specifiers to measure it. The sliders are probably the best.
A round about method but that's the way Apple has done it.

    Get the invisible one.
I have three and love them.
Or is it two?  Maybe four?
Who knows, they're invisible.  Impossible to keep count.

I plan to buy a new iPad Air to use for navigation in an airplane. Which color would have the least glare from sunlight entering the cockpit?

I'm no expert, but I would think Space Gray would be your answer, because it has a black front.  The Silver iPad Air has a white front.

  • How can I find out which color toner in my Officejet 6700 is out?

My printer stopped printing on a print job, and said replace a color cartridge to continue.  However, there are 4 cartridges and I was not told which one to replace.  Is there any way to get that information from the printer?

    Hi,
You may tap the Ink Levels indicator at the top of the printer front panel to find out which ink cartridge is low:
On the printer control panel, touch the Ink Level icon ().
A graphic of the estimated ink levels for each cartridge displays on the control panel.

  • Which color profile to use, if any, for web?

    Hi,
For years, I've been accustomed to saving JPGs for web use by including the sRGB color profile.
However, I now realize that IE either discards color profiles, or forces a new one on them (took me this long to notice because while I always proof-check my code through IE, I never paid close attention to image colors 'til now). Meanwhile, Firefox actually uses the ones the JPGs were saved with, so I see the exact same thing in Photoshop as I do in Firefox.
Anyway, as I was saying, I just noticed the colors are very different in IE. In fact, trying to match a hexadecimal color value with a JPG is pretty much impossible as long as both IE and FF interpret JPG colors differently.
As a test, I tried saving a JPG with no color profile included. Interestingly, it showed up near identically in both FF and IE.
Which begs the following question :
Why the hell have I been using color profiles all this time? :-(
Another observation I made is that the Adobe RGB color profile more closely resembles the No Color Profile state than sRGB does (sRGB is a lot less saturated color-wise).
So what is it I need to do now?
    1. Go over the entire website and re-save all images with no color profiles.
    2. Go over the entire website and re-save all images with Adobe RGB color profile.
The goal here is that I want my hexadecimal color values to match what's on the JPG (for example, when a gradient ends and goes to a flat color state, I'd like to be able to fill that region with a hexadecimal color value instead of using more images needlessly... but for this to be a seemless transition, everyone needs to agree and match).
    Thanks.

I've been doing something completely different.
To the extent that a color needs to match or be like a color that is a background on my website (which is the usual issue I run into with color differences), I make a .PNG or .GIF file and use transparency. That way I don't get the problems associated with color profiles and web safe colors.

  • Which color management monitor?

I shoot digital product and food photography using a mac powerbook. I've been using a LaCie CRT (yes, I said CRT) monitor for fine tuning my photos. It has finally started acting up so I'm ready for a new monitor. Can anyone recommend a dependable monitor that has color, brightness and contrast controls for use with establishing color managed profiles using eye1 macbeth (now that company is called something else which I can not remember at the moment). Obviously it needs to be accurate when it comes to color, brightness and contrast as well.
I ended up using my laptop screen this past shoot cause I had no other choice - but it made me really nervous.....
    thanks -

As for the last sentence in my previous post, I thought we were in the Color Management forum, where Andrew Rodney is often active.

  • Which Color Wheel, please ?

This matter has been bothering me for many years now. I wonder if and how many Kuler users are actually aware of this, but the Adobe Kuler color wheel is spatially based on some perceptual color theory and harmony, and not the color wheel for technical color systems and settings.
For example the primary colors in the typically and technically triangle of RGB or CMY are not to be found in a perfect 120 degrees angle in the Adobe Kuler color wheel.
This is the RGB theme of 0, 120 and 240 degrees in Hue values, spread across the Adobe Kuler color wheel:
As you can see in the above picture, Adobe gracefully 'bends' the space between the values to accommodate for the Kuler color wheel, which follows color theory and harmony. (No wonder Adobe Kuler is reluctant to reveal the advanced value settings of these colors...)
But it's not even similar to the distribution of colors in the Active Color panel of Illustrator.
The green looks similar to the one in the Kuler wheel, but the blue has shifted once again !
To remind you, below, an indication of the Apple color wheel interpretation of RGB:
Finally, there's even a clearer indication of the mismatch between these color wheels.
You can see the technically 0, 90, 180, 270, and 360 degrees setting for the hue value, but it's not at all the exact cross hair you'd expect:
As you can see, what used to be a quarter (90 degrees) in a technically correct RGB distribution of colors in the Apple color wheel, accounts for almost half of the Kuler wheel, while enormously truncating the differences between red and purple.
Due to the same difference, the so called "harmonious" effect of complimentary colors (which are supposed to be exact opposites), or triads (which are supposed to be spread 120 degrees apart from each other) falls to the ground when the spreading of the colors on the wheel seems purely arbitrary. One can only wonder which wheel is the correct one...
So when picking colors together with other designers, be sure to settle on a unanimous color wheel (Adobe Kuler, Illustrator, or Apple), before you start throwing your mentally creative darts at it...
I wish Kuler (and other Adobe popular applications) would at least warn for these differences, or let you pick a preferred color wheel.

    Hi,
Regarding 3rd party backup software, it is recommended to seek help in their official website for better understanding.
For backup issues, we could use the built-in Windows backup. We could do a date backup or an image backup using Windows Backup and Restore.
Detailed information for the backup and restore in Windows 7, we could check the below link:

And here is a similar thread:

  • Which Color LasterJet Printer should Ibuy for iBook G4 on wireles network?

I have been told that the "all in one" printers, ex.) HP, etc...are not good for wireless printing with the iBook G4's. I want to reccomend a decent Color LaserJet for my sister. She just bought an iBook G4, first person ever in the family to purchase an apple product other than me. I want it to work. Any suggestions? Or does anyone know where i can find more information on this topic here on the apple disscussion form? Thanks so much!
    Macluva99

I have been told that the "all in one" printers, ex.)
HP, etc...are not good for wireless printing with the
    iBook G4's.
This may be in reference to a cheap all-in-one (designed to be run connected directly to a computer) being attached to an Airport base station.
If you purchase a wireless all-in-one with Mac drives you will find it will work fine with the iBook G4.
My printing only Canon iP4000r has worked really well with both Macs and PCs.
The HP all-in-one in the office came with a JetDirect print server which has worked reasonably well with the Macs and the PCs.
I want to reccomend a decent Color
    LaserJet for my sister.
Does it need to be wireless?
I have used the Colour LaserJet 2500 (with a third party network card) for a couple of years (and apart from the cost of the toner cartridges) it has worked well.
For decent colour work I have found inkjets give much better results using the right paper.
