I have worked all day to clean up the bookmarks on my laptop and now want them reflected/synced to my other firefox computers. How to I do this?

Which PC is the master for purposes of Sync?

There are thousands of posts here for how to set up and troubleshoot Sync but none i can find that tell me how it actually works and how to control the sync process from a master/slave standpoint.
I have an old XP box that I'm replacing with a new Lenovo, plus a Dell XPS laptop that I'll be continuing to use. I want the laptop and the Lenovo to mirror the FF settings on the old XP desktop that I'm retiring. But the changes are flowing in all directions; things I set up on the Lenovo are populating back to the XP.
How do I flag the XP box as the master so its config will flow to the other two machines?

How do I choose the main one? I have read many of the docs and never found a hint about this.
Setting up Sync has been very difficult. The system messages are unclear...it's not even possible to know if a machine is set up unless you know the "secret" about seeing "Set Up Sync" on the menu. Might be logical to the developer but not to this end-user.
Last night I was running back and forth for hours trying to set it up on my PC's. My notes include six sets of 12-character codes and one of those long password strings. When the link-up fails, there's no error message.
Last night I renamed the whole feature "Firefox Stync" I was so frustrated. Who designed this anyway? Pardon the rant but it obviously was not tested by end-users, judging from the huge volume of questions it generates.

Most likely you have Office 2004 which are PPC-only applications and will not work in Lion. Upgrade to Office 2011. Other alternatives are:
Apple's iWork suite (Pages, Numbers, and Keynote.)
Open Office (Office 2007-like suite compatible with OS X.)
NeoOffice (similar to Open Office.)
LibreOffice (a new direction for the Open Office suite.)

Sorry to ask, how do I do it please. I have my first ipod with the same account on both computers that have different libraries one of which I am building now. Do I have to de-authorise my original ipod on the computer that I want to use my new ipod on with the new library and then register my new ipod. I would rather do this than have 2 libraries on one itunes, but keep the same account details.

Hi all, when updating my contacts on my iphone / mac or ipad, which ones become the master copy?. The reason I ask is each time i edit a name on my iPhone it reverts back to the previous edit when I use that contact to send an e mail from my mac?. Does this mean that the way the contact is listed on my mac is the master copy?.

I am having the same problem - across 4 computers and 6 iOS devices all synced to the same iCloud account. It just started happening last week. If I edit a card on any device and click Done, it appears to save the edits...but within 60 seconds it reverts back to the old data - AND it adds the edited info in a new field. So if I edit a person's home phone number, it will revert back to the old phone number AND add the new edited phone number in a second Home Phone field. Does the same thing with addresses and email addresses. Needless to say it is making a mess of our address book and I'm at a loss. I will try systematically taking devices offline to see if the problem persists as I remove various iPhones and computers from the picture. I called Apple Support but got a guy who was actually more clueless than me.

Changing the master account email and other mail/a...

I've tried a couple of times via online chat and ringing up to get a couple of queries sorted but regrettably it seems there is no easy way to get differing issues sorted through the same person. I have a telephone, Infinity and Youview service.
We have been BT customers for a lifetime and for 20+ years my wife worked for BT. During that period we had free or subsidised broadband and the account, including phone line, was in my wife's name. 3 years ago she was made redundant and the account was transferred to me and we've renewed annually since. Problem is though the account is clearly in my name and the bills are emailed to me the master email on the broadband mail account remains my wife's. As I found out recently a forgotten password security check needed my wife's security details to resolve and not my own. This also means that any management of sub-accounts has to be done through my wife's name and it's incredibly frustrating that I need to use my wife's details to manage the mail side of the account. Additionally I seem to be paying for some email accounts seperately with an automatic payment each month from my credit card when surely they could be amalgamated into my account so they could be free ?
Given that the account is in my name, the bills are emailed to me and I have the online account to manage my relationship with BT how can my wife still have the master account ?
Any advice on how to sort this out ?

Which computer sets the time stamp of a shared variable? The computer that hosts the variable or the computer writing the variable?

Good Question - I have only one use case which is similiar...
I have a cRIO which hosts a NSV library which is bound to a mirror library on the PC. The PC library
is set to log to a Citadel DB. When my cRIO RT software writes values to the NSV the timestamp is created
at the instant the write occurs using the RT system clock (which incidentally is sync'd to GPS time). This timestamp is preverved all
the way up to the PC and the Citadel DB.

A new computer will not accept the sync key taken from an older computer for the same account on a private (Weave minimal-based) server.

How to set a new computer as the master for iTunes

Hi guys,
I have an iPad that when i first purchased set it up to work with another computer. Then I started using it with my work computer and now every time I want to move a book or photos onto my iPad i have to sync and overwrite everything on my iPad. Is there a way to set my work computer to be the master one?
When I sync something it varies between a prompt saying that it detects that this is not the iTunes that the iPad is linked to do i want to make this iTunes the main one" and "are you sure you want to delete all 14 apps.." to which i always click yes. Yet this computer is still not seen as the main one as i keep getting those prompts and keep having to re-sync everything.
Hope this makes sense. I wasn't sure if this post should be on the iTunes or iPad forum but i think it is something that might happen with other apple devices on iTunes too

Can't authorize another computer with the same account ?

I have 2 computers, one older than the other.
- on the older, I have the old version of ADE w/ lots of ebooks on it. I had it authorized (created an account etc...).
- on the new one, I have recently downloaded the new version of ADE, without authorizing it at first.
I wanted to transfer my ebboks from the older computer to the new one. It appeared I couldn't because the books were unauthorized or something like that. So I tried to get the authorization for the new computer, and the new version of ADE. The message when I try to fill in my usual ID/Password is "You can authorize this computer only if you do not use an ID that has already been comitted to an another computer or mobile device. Please Try again" (excuse me if its not exactly what you know : I'm french, and I tried to translate the message).
I have been reading the Q&A on the subject, and none of the questions mention this type of message. I am actually trying to get rid of one of my two computer. Of course I need to authorize w/ the same account. It can't be that you are bound by one computer or device ...
I do not use any device now : my old one is broken, so I read on my comptuer.
Please, can someone give me advice ?
May be I can get my old ebooks by another method ?

Almost certainly you have hit an incorrect error message from ADE. Usually ADE gives meaningless error messages, but just to keep the user on his/her toes it sometimes likes to give meaningful but incorrect error messages.
Try deauthorizing your new ADE using ctrl-shift-D (cmd-shift-D if on a Mac).
Restart and then try again to enter your usual ID/Password.

I'm unable to get into my Outlook account as FF automatically loads another account which is not the primary account

I had a Hotmail account which MS has moved to an Outlook account. This account has a different username than my firstlastname. However, whenever I open Outlook; Hotmail or Windows Live, FF automatically defaults to [email protected], so that I can't access my real Outlook account. If I can't figure out how to change this default URL, I will have to (gasp!) move back to IE 11 which does let me access this other Outlook account.

First, clear your cookies for outlook.com.
Then restart Firefox and go to outlook.com. Login to the preferred account, and if that is the only outlook that you want to use in the future use the "Remember Me" feature if you are asked.

How can I separate 2 ipads which are on the same account?

I have an ipad and my husband also recently bought one. Unfortunately my son set my husband's ipad up on the same account as mine so we now have exactly the same music and photos on both plus my Gmail account is sending the messages to both. How can I separate these now but still carry on using the same laptop?

You will have to transfer the ringtones from the phone that has them to your iTunes library.
File>Transfer Purchases.
Then you can sync them to the other phone.

IPad and iTunes on computer have same iTunes account but no Sync

iTunes thinks that my iPad and computer are using different iTunes accounts when they are the same.
I have double checked in Setting->Itunes Store on iPad.
When I try and sync any content iTunes says it will erase all content on the iPad and reload from iTunes on computer.
The kids will kill me if I do this as all their game progress will be deleted.
Or is this message misleading? will iTunes realise they are actually the same account if I go ahead?
I recently had to rebuilt my computer and re-install iTunes, but surely this should make any difference to iTunes?
Does anyone have any experience with this?
