Which desktop WiFi PCI Card will be able work with personal hotspot signal of iphone 4

which desktop WiFi PCI Card will be able work with personal hotspot signal of iphone 4. I need my desktop to work on WiFi signal emanating from personal Hotspot of iPhone 4.

I think you are running into the following issue.
From: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2756
Note: If you leave the Personal Hotspot screen or put iPhone to sleep, iPhone only broadcasts the Wi-Fi network for an additional 90 seconds. If no devices join the Wi-Fi network during that time, iPhone 4 stops broadcasting your Wi-Fi network. You can start broadcasting your Wi-Fi network again by tapping Settings > Personal Hotspot.
So, if I understand correctly, if you you leave your iphone on the the Settings --> Personal Hotspot screen, than it shouldn't disconnect.

  • Which firewire/usb pci cards are VERIFIED to work with a G5 2.7 Ghz?

I have a Powermac g5 2.7 Ghz, and need to add a firewire/usb combo card for the external peripherals I have.
I have the NVIDIA GeForce 6800 Ultra DDL video card, which blocks one of the pci slots. I am aware I can get separate usb and firewire cards, but do not want to that. I would have to replace the NVIDIA GeForce 6800 Ultra DDL video card.
I have seen various brands advertised, but sure which ones will ACTUALLY work.
I am having trouble finding any information here about a firewire/usb combo card that has actually been verified to work.
ANY reliable info would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Glen, the Combo FW/USB cards seem to have disappeared in the last year or two, my workaround would be a FW card & powered USB Hub..

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
The easiest thing to do would be to sign into your iTunes account on your computer, connect your phone and sync. iTunes should copy anything from your phone that isn't already in your library on the computer.

  • Help please ; which G-based PCI card will work on MDD?

    Hi there,
Based on what I've learned from this forum, the BroadComm chipset is needed in wireless PCI cards if these are to work on our Macs (MDDs). However, finding if this chipset is the one has proven to be at best, an exercise in futility.
NewEgg has the following card on sale (Rosewill 802.11b/g PCI Wireless Card, model no. RNX-G300LX, for $13.99. Coupon code "EMCBBBJCC" chops it to $8.99. With free shipping!). The technical specs claim that the card works under OS 10.3,10.4,10.5.
Has anyone had positive experiences with this brand (or any other for that matter)? I do want to add a G-type PCI card but can't figure out which one will work.
Any help will be greatly appreciated!
    Regards,
    Jacobo

From the product photos on Rosewill's site it looks like that card uses an RALink chipset (the RA 2651T, I think). RALink has Mac drivers for its wireless chipsets from 10.3-10.4 on its website here:
    http://www.ralinktech.com/ralink/Home/Support/Macintosh.html
Those drivers should allow you to use that card on your Mac in OS X - since it doesn't use a Broadcom chipset, it wouldn't work in OS 9. I don't know how well they work (the card I'm using in my Sawtooth now is a RT-Link card) but I know Linksys currently uses RALink chipsets in their 802.11b/g PCI cards (WMP54G v4.1) and people have used RALink's posted drivers to use those cards in their Macs.
AFAIK, no currently shipping wireless PCI cards use Broadcom chipsets.

  • I have a ibook G4 which has become redundant as my phone will no longer work with the version of itunes installed (latest it can use), how can I back up my phone to transfer to a new computer (a PC now)?

My iphone 4s (7.1.1) will no longer work with my ibook G4 which is running 10.5.8. I have a PC which i'm now going to have to use, I've manually transferred my music and photos, but how do I go about transferring my contacts and calenders. What does itunes on PC sync to in terms of contacts and calenders?
    Thanks!

    Hi there BDempster,
You may find the information in the articles below helpful.
iOS: How to transfer or sync content to your computer
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1296
iTunes 11 for Windows: Sync contacts, calendars, and other info with iPod, iPhone, or iPad
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12317
You can use iTunes to sync the contacts, calendars, notes, Safari bookmarks, and email account information on your computer with your iPod, iPhone, or iPad. iTunes also syncs this information from your device to your computer—for example, if you add contacts on your iPad, syncing adds those contacts to Windows address book or Outlook Express on your computer.

iPad requires Wifi (or 3G /LTE) to connect to the Internet. You cannot connect a USB modem to the iPad.
You can create your own WiFi hotspot through your computer for your iPad to connect to, if your computer supports this functionality. All Wifi Macs and many Wifi PCs do. Check your computer manual for how to do it.

Please don't shout!   Using all uppercase means shouting on the internet.  If your keyboard is stuck please say so, otherwise people will think you are being obnoxious.
Now the first question is, when you are saying connecting to personal hotspot, have you always been using the iPhone to connect to the internet?   Are you someplace where the only place to connect is available via tethering to the iPhone's celluar network?  Or do you have other options?

I like the idea of auto back-up for my new iMac, Ipad and PC Netbook, particularly if I can access all files and data stored on any device.  But I have a Conceptronic router.
    1. Will Time Capsule work with this and how?
    2. Can my printer USB be plugged in and then shared between the devices?
    3. Can I create a network and how?
    4.  What happend when a visitor logs onto my existing wireless router?
I'm new to Macs (well a returning user having started with Mac Plus!!) and not very technical.  Any help / advice will be much appreciated.
    Ray

The key to what you seem to want to do is to be able to get Apple's Time Capsule router to "join" the network that your Conceptronic router.  I believe that works with some third-party routers, but I've never seen a list of those that work in such a configuration and I have no experience with Conceptronic equipment.
You might be better off with a Network-Attached Storage (NAS) device instead of a Time Capsule.

    The Hatter,
I am a novice at Mac so I read all I can.  From what I understand the NEC monitors I bought require Display Port for their maximum performance.  The GTX 680 only has DVI outputs.  Difference from what I understand is larger bandwidth with the DP.
You said I have the 4000 for CUDA.  I am not all that familiar with CUDA and when I do read about it I do not understand it.
A concern I have is, that if I connect the 2 high end NEC monitors via the 5770, using it's 2 Display Ports I would have nothing connected to the 4000.  Is the 4000 doing anything with nothing connected?  I read where in a PC system the 2 cards would interact but in a Mac system they do not.
Bottom line, as I see it, the 4000 will not be useful at all to me, since I want a dual monitor set-up.
So far the 5870 seems the best choice, higher band width than the 5770, and it has 2 Display Ports to optimize the NEC monitors.
I'm not sure how fine I am splitting hairs, nor do I know how important those hairs are.  I am just trying to set up a really fast reliable system that will mainly be used for CS6 and LR4.  Those NEC monitors are supposed to be top notch.

  • Will Time Machine work with an external hard drive connected (via usb) to Airport Extreme?

Will Time Machine work with an external hard drive connected (via usb) to Airport Extreme?

Sorry, but this article is about 4 years old, and was printed based on preliminary information at the time.
The bottom line here is that Apple does not officially support Time Machine backups to a drive at the USB port of the AirPort Extreme.
If it works for you, great.
You might want to review the Apple Support documents below, which are far more recent than the article you reference:

    It is supported.....
This is NOT correct. Please do not post false information on the forums.
