Which device downloaded a particular app/song?

I have four devices tied to my Apple ID.  One of the devices downloaded several apps and a song.  Is there a way to find out which device downloaded it?  All I can see through my purchase history is Item, Artist, Type, and Price.  I tried looking through Apple Support but didn't find anything.  Appreciate your help.

No, there is no way to tell.

  • Can you tell which device downloaded a purchase from the App Store?

When you have multiple devices using the same AppleID, is there a way to tell which device downloaded a particlar song or in-app purchase?  If so, can you please tell me the steps.  Thank you

That's what I thought...  seems ridiculous that this isn't traceable.. thank you for the response

  • I share an itunes account with 3 users. How can I find out which person downloaded a certain app?

    Agile,
Any of the above will work, depending how you would like to set it up.
Given that kids tend to eventually grow up and be independent, the best long term answer for most people is to let her have her own account and her own library as soon as she can handle it.  Keep in mind that content purchased from the iTunes Store is permanently tied to the account from which it was originally purchased, so separating later is a challenge.
If you want to sync multiple devices to the same library, that will work.  Or if you want separate libraries (as I would recommend), they can be either on separate computers or on separate Windows user accounts on the same PC.
For the name change:  Connect the device.  When the name appears in the left sidebar of iTunes, highlight it and change it.

but not to 4.2 which doesn't work well with this particular phone?
What are you talking about? 4.2.1, the latest version for the iPhone 3G, works fine - great, even - with it.

  • How do you identify which device downloaded an app?

My family has two iPods, one iPhone, and an iPad.  I just looked at my recent purchases and found a $20 purchase for Island Empire.  First, I have no idea why a game costs that much, but I need to know which device was used to download the app.

    Strange...  Two options.
    1. Connect each iDevice you have to iTunes. Right-click on its name under the Devices listing in the left side bar, Select "Transfer Purchases from xxxx."
    2. In iTunes, sign in to the iTunes Store (once each with every Apple ID used); Select Prchased from the Quick Link section in the right-hand side bar; you can review all purchases by going thru each tab.

  • ITunes keeps attempting to download a particular app when I update other apps via phone store

These errors don't happen all the time, but it happens enough that it's getting rather tiresome to work around it. Both of these problems happen when I am requested to update an app on my phone, or I try to download an app from the store on my phone. I'm not sure if it's two separate problems occuring at the same time, or one big problem with two symptoms.
    Problem 1:
I receive a badge on my App Store that one of my apps requires an update or I want to download a new app. I go to the update tab and click on "Update" or click on "purchase."  The password pop-up appears, but then closes and a new pop-up appears that says "Gif Boom and 22 other apps cannot be downloaded at this time." I click okay to close the notification, then click the button again, whereupon the password box appears, I fill it in and the download proceeds as should be expected.
I haven't had Gifboom on my phone for almost a year, and I have no idea why it's trying to update an app that isn't even on my phone.
    Problem 2:
This occurs in conjunction with the previous problem, but doesn't always happen when the first problem occurs.
I go to download an update or new app, and as the new app or update is installing, a greyed out box for the app Shadow Age appears in the newest slot, labeled as "waiting." I downloaded the Shadow Age app last summer and deleted it after a few weeks. For some reason it keeps trying to redownload it onto my phone when I download an app or update. If I hold down the icon, the little black X doesnt appear. The only way to get rid of it is to reboot the phone.
Neither Gifboom nor Shadow Age are on my computer, so it is not trying to sync it from there. I have autosync turned off in iTunes on my computer, iCloud is turned off on my phone, and Automatic Downloads for Music and Apps is turned off on my phone. There is nothing that I can see that should be requesting my phone to download Gifboom, Shadow Age, or any of these other 22 apps.
Last resort is a backup and system restore as I have quite a few games on my phone that I don't want to lose saved data from, and I don't know if the backup will just backup the error as well.
I have seen similar posts saying that apps keep reappearing when syncing to a computer, but mine are coming from the iTunes store directly onto my phone.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Josh

Thanks, I did that and it is not listed there. Any other ideas?
You may want to try reorgnizing the iTunes library by clicking File, Library, Organize Library, then check Consolidate files and Upgrade to iTunes Media organization or Reorganize files in the folder iTunes Media.
You can also try re-creating your iTunes library and playlists.
Then delete the app, if it shows up in iTunes or the Mobile Applications folder again.
    WTH.

  • HT4009 Can you see which device made an in-app purchase? Both kids playing the game...

Both my kids have iPods and have gone a bit crazy with in-app purchases on dragonvale.  I just restricted the in-app purchases but wanted to see if you can find out which one did it...

Thanks juju soccer :) did that and eventually the truth came out but I wanted to have leverage anyway...

  • Am i able to see which device is downloaded apps

i have app share turned on for 2 of my devices and some content was on them that was inappropriate and i wondered if you could tell which device it was downloaded on

No, you would have no way to see that. You can log into your account in iTunes on your computer and see when the particular app was purchased which might narrow it down. If you are using family sharing you can also set security such that apps cannot be purchased without your review.

Restore the device to factory settings with iTunes.
Then launch the App Store app on the iPad and sign in with your Apple iD and password:

  • I have an Apple Iphone 3G which I use as an Ipod...which has the 4.2 operating system.   I had to 'restore' it and now it won't let me download the Facebook app...says I need to upgrade to a 4.3 system.    Any help you can provide me with that?

Hi...I am new to this site and it looks like I posted the question in the subject box...my bad.
I have an Iphone 3G which is used as an ipod (phone service plans are too expensive).
I had some apps on it, Facebook being one of them.   The device was goins soooo slow (not even 2G of the available 6 being used) so I did as instructed and backed it up, restored it and then put the info back into it.   When I tried to download the Facebook app...it said that I had a 4.2.1 system and needed a 4.3 something system?   Can anyone provide any help on this or am I doing something wrong?
    Thank you in advance

Sorry. There's nothing anyone can do. The current version of the facebook app will not run on 4.2.1. The iPhone 3G won't run anything higher than 4.2.1. You're stuck.
Maybe it's time to buy yourself a new iPod Touch.

  • Multiple users on one apple account.  How can I see which devices were used to purchase apps?

I share my apple account with my three children.  Inappropriate apps were purchased.  Everyone denied making the purchase.  Is there anyway I can find out which device made these purchases?

If only one of them purchased the app(s), wouldn't it only be on that one device (plus the computer's iTunes library if you have automatic downloads turned on)?

  • Cannot download App / Song

I just flew out to Gran Canaria on Monday and yesterday I tried updating my apps over the hotels wifi without success. It seems to download but as it gets to the end it stops and says that it cannot be downloaded at this time. Today now I just purchased a song and it also failed to download. Im from the UK and believe I´m still in the UK store as I´m still logged in with my iTunes account and its showing prices in Pounds Sterling.
Any ideas why it won´t let me download anything?

There are some issues being reported with the app store today ... Mainly not being able to see purchased apps - they seem to have disappeared from users screens. I can't say that this is what is wrong in your case .. Also another user in the UK stated that he had problems getting his password to be accepted but signed out and then signed in again and it worked.
Having said all of that, this is my boilerplate of things to try if you can't download or update apps.
Make sure that you do not have a stalled download in iTunes - a song or podcast .... if you have a download in there that did not finish, complete that one first. Only one thing can download at a time on the iPad so that could be what is causing the problem.
If that doesn't work - sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Settings>Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>Store>Sign in and then try to update again. Tap one waiting icon only if necessary to start the download stream.
You can also try deleting the waiting icons - tap and hold down on an icon until it wiggles - the tap the X on the icon to delete it. Then try to download again.
You can try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your app preferences and device settings again.

  • TS1424 HI.  I recently downloaded music to my devices, and there are 5 different songs that all downloaded as the same song.  How can I resolve this issue?

I recently attempted to download 5 different songs to my iPhone, but all 5 downloaded as the same song.  The correct titles show up, but when I play the songs they are all the same.  How can I resolve this?

    Hello there, jmcough.
I understand you are having issues with playback of purchased music. If iTunes in the Cloud is available in your country, it might be best to delete the song(s) from your device, then re-download from your purchase history.
To delete a song the following Knowledge Base article offers how to delete from your iOS device:
How to delete content you've downloaded from the iTunes Store, App Store, iBooks Store, or Mac App Store
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5772
    Music
Open the section below for the device you are using.
    iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
Before you delete, find out if you'll be able to download the song you deleted again (it depends on where you live). To delete a song:
    Tap the Music app.
    Tap the Songs category.
Swipe left to right over the song you want to delete.
    Tap Delete.
Afterwards, re-download the purchases from your purchase history:
