Which Digital Camcorder best suites my needs?

I'm wanting to purchase my first digital camcorder and I'm not sure what I should be looking for. As a mother of 5, I spend ALOT of time at sporting events and will be doing a majority of my filming there. I need a camcorder that's both good outside as well as in the gym...And manual focus would be a plus! I've been told that flash drive camcorders are the way to go also. Does anyone have any suggestions for me?

I've been a pro shooter/editor for the past 12 years and have played with everythign from HD studio cams to the very simplistic "flip" cams. The range of quality and cost is huge and will depend on what you are looking for.
If your budget is about $150, then you're looking at the simple "flip" cameras that all have issues, but are also very easy to use and do not require a lot of manual adjustments. They're all auto-focus, auto white balance, auto iris, and are point & shoot cams with an SD card as the media drive. Some will have better video quality while others will have better hardware. It really depends on what you need.
If you're looking at the sub $500, you're looking at better cameras with actual lens and mechanical zoom modes. This makes for a much better image when zooming in than the pinhole "flip" camcorders, and will have options for DV tape, mini-DVD, SD card, or built in storage.
I'll take a wild guess that as a mother of 5 you're looking for something in the sub $500 class that's fast and easy to use. The bigger and more expensive the camcorder, the more you'll need to know about videography. It'll also take more time for the camera to startup than the "flip" cameras (which are really a point&shoot dream).
I have both the 720P Insignia, and the 720P Aiptek. I like both for different reasons and use them often when teaching my martial art to record students progress. I get exactly what I need with them...I can accurately see what they are doing. I'm not concerned about true HD quality since these clips get compressed anyway.

If you want the mobile web site to become a 'native' application, then you need to use either the PhoneGap or Titanium's Appcelerator solutions to make this happen.
You might be able to use the StageWebView to display your content, but I think the other solutions might give you a better experience.

If you can afford it, Custom spec out and purchase the best components for your iMac.
Custom order the fastest i7 CPU, custom GPU (if you can afford it order the 2 GB VRAM GPU, otherwise get the 1 GB VRAM GPU), add the custom largest SSD.
Purchase 16 GBs of RAM or more (the new iMacs can take up to 32 GBs of RAM) from online memory suppliers like Crucial memory or OWC. They are cheaper to buy RAM from.
iMacs are not designed and are not user upgradeable for components other than RAM.
Purchasd the best you can afford now as it will be much harder to get what you really needed later.
Also, I highly recommend with whatever iMac purchase you make, you budget for 3-year extended AppleCare.
iMacs have, somewhat, a regular component failure history. I believe that these failures are due to how much warmer iMacs run than anything else. Purchasing and having extended AppleCare will give you peace of mind and free warranty service for three years.

Which Format/Camcorder best for PE7

I am just starting out making DVD memoirs for hospice patients (mostly interior head shots). I just acquired PE7 am learning and need to buy a camcorder, which with the different formats(mini dv, HDD, SDHC) is very confusing . The Canon HV 40 and HF s100 BOTH LOOK GOOD FOR AROUN $800. BUT I WORRY ABOUT DIFFICULTIES IN EDITING WITH MY 64 BIT DUAL PROCESSOR MACHINE.
Any pointers or relevant experience?

The best editing format (least problems) is DV AVI type 2 with 48khz sound... which you get from a miniDV tape camcorder, transferred to your computer via Firewire connection
All DVD and hard drive camcorders give problems of one kind or another, due to the compressed format they use
For a Firewire DV Camera - look at Panasonic PV-GS320 or GS500 (Note that I have not used either, but they have good reviews)

I need to design an Web based application (with database as Oracle 8.1.7 and on WINDOWS NT4.0 platform), that would handle ENGLISH as well as ARABIC (SAUDI ARABIA) data. So i need to store data in both languages.
Which is the best suited CHARSET that you would suggest me to use?
- UTF-8 format.
- AR8ISO8859P6.
I have tried using AR8ISO8859P6 setting , but when i try save data from any front end , it stores junk data "??????". i even tried created table withNVARCHAR2 field type.
also i have tried out UTF-8 format ,it works fine for me, but still i need to know why the "AR8ISO8859P6" format CHARSET does'nt work fine for me .

Which laptop to get for these needs...

Hi all,
I'm aware that there are many posts on which laptop is best suited for Logic, or which will work with Logic, etc, but I thought posting my own may get me better results, as the comments will be directly related to my needs, which I'll set out below:
* Currently away from home/main system due to work, and probably won't be able to use it for another 6 months at least.
* Current laptop (2006 MacBook) is beginning to bail on me, and many Logic projects are freezing up.
* I don't require a massive spec laptop, as a) I will hopefully eventually get my main machine down with me, so the new laptop will not always be my primary machine. Furthermore when I am reunited with main machine, the laptop will become an 'on the road' machine for projects etc.
That gives you an idea. The model I was thinking of getting was the 13" 2.7 MacBook Pro. I've been told that Logic will run on this pretty well (much better than my current laptop anyway), when using a fair few heavy plugins (Waves stuff), and also using Kontakt w/ fair amounts of instruments.
Question is, while the lower end 15" will obviously be faster, I don't really need the bigger screen, and I don't want to unnecessarily buy a machine that I'll never use to its full potential, hense why I'm verging towards the higher spec 13".
Obviously this totally depends on exactly what projects I am using, so it's probably quite hard for anyone to advise, but has anyone had experience using Logic w/ the new 13"? And not just for small projects, but for slightly larger ones too?

One year of experience in ABAP is too less to think about learning new modules. I would recommend you gain knowledge and experience on various advanced areas of Netweaver ABAP, work on ABAP for another atleast 3 years, and then maybe start looking into other modules.

When recording a chorus place the IC recorder on a table approximately 2 to 3 meters (80 to 120 in.) from the performer(s).
Set up the IC recorder with the display window facing up, and with the built-in microphones pointing towards the sound source.
Refer to page # 34 of the Manual (ICD-AX412) about placing the IC Recorder for recording chorus.
Also, select the Recording scene as “Lecture” for recording a chorus lesson.
You can refer to page # 32 and 33 of the Manual to select the recording scene.

Which is the best Analog to Digital Converter

Hey everyone,
Im new to this movie making digital world. I have been using imovie for a while and looking to upgrade to FCP. Before I spend the money, just a few questions hoping someone would know the answers.
1: Can I use idvd to burn my movies with FCP?
2: Im need an analog to digital converter, but not sure which one to get. I have VHS, Hi8, mini DV, etc... Which converter is best with mac, specifically with FCP?

Airplay is a wireless streaming protocol. It allows content to be pushed from the iPad through the Apple TV onto your connected HDTV.
