Which digital camera makes videos that can be directly imported to iMove 5

I currently own a Sony Cibershot P8 and when I shoot videos on it they are Muxed. I don't know a whole lot about that except I think it means multi-layerd. The issue I have is that I have to tweak my videos in another program before I can hear the audio in iMovie.
Now that I'm in the market for a new camera I was wondering if there were any out there which produced videos in a format that could be edited directly in iMovie without being modified beforehand. Does anyone have any suggestions? My target is in the $300 price range with a max of $400.
Thanks,

Sorry - my mistake, I did not notice that you were talking about a still-camera. I believe some cameras may record video in MPEG4 format, which would be compatible. Do a Google search (as I just have - there are several options).
Others may want to comment further on your requirements.

  • Digital Camera with Video Capability

Being the father of newborn twins, I've agonized over the pros and cons of having either a digital video camera that can take skills, or quality digital camera with video capability.  What digital cameras offer the best video options?

Camcorders take terrible stills.  I have tried all of the top-of-the-lines camcorders from Panasonic, Canon and Sony and none of them takes even a halkfway decent still.  A P&S will still take far superior photos to any camcorder.

    I would agree with that.
If you can afford both, get both.  If you can't, then check out the Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS3.  It takes good stills and pretty good 720p video for about $240.  If you want a very good camera that takes better 1080p video than most (all?) consumer camcorders, then check the Panasonic DMC-GH1K, which goes for over $1000.  It is a DSLR so its stil capabilities will be well beyond any of the other cameras I mentioned.  If you decide to purchase 2 seperate pieces of equipment, then you could also check out the Fujifilm FinePix F70EXR for stills(about $200) and the Sony Handycam HDR-CX500V for video (about $750) or the Panasonic HDC-HS250 ($600).  I would avoid the Canon camcorders right now unless you can afford the S-series cams, as the lower models don't provide very good indoor video for the money.

  • How do you get photos off a digital camera and videos off a camcorder onto the iPad air?

You can use the camera connection kit.

If your camera has an SD card
or the lightening to USB for your videos

(might also work for your camera)
The photo part is rather self-explanatory. as long as your photos are in the right format and with the right naming convention they should import right over. The video may be a bit more tricky. So you may want to do some more research and make sure your camera records a format the iPad will import and whether or not you need an app such as iMovie

  • Connecting digital camera w/video output to ipod

can i view pics by connecting my digital camera with video output straight into my ipod?

    Stephen,
I had posted a similar question here regarding downloading video from my digital camera. No replies, so I went to the Apple store today with my Sony DSC-H1 with a short video and a few photos on it. Had it hooked up through the "camera connector" accessory to the new iPod and everything was successfully downloaded to the iPod. The photos can be viewed on the iPod but the video is not in a format recognized by the iPod, so you can't review the video but the stored video can then be loaded onto your Mac for editing, etc.
A 1 gig Memory Stick for my camera costs $125.00 CDN, so for the price of 4 I can get 60 gigs of storage. SOLD!

I don't have a direct answer for you, but if Software Update shows that update as "Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 2.6", you can download and install it yourself here:

  • Is there a digital business card reader that can feed iContacts?

Is there a digital business card reader that can load contact information into iContacts?
If yes, what is it?  If no, is there a way to load contact information into Outlook for Mac and then export it to iContacts?

1, people tend to recommend powered readers, as obviously they have their own power source and won't rely on what they're connected to. I have an old Belkin (model F5U240) that still works, but I don't think that it's made anymore (it's a CF only reader)
2, we are just fellow users here, and none of us know what Canon might, or might not, be planning. On the basis that the power was reduced in iOS 4, my opinion is that it's doubtful (though I'm not always right ). You can try leaving feedback : http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html

  • Cameras which support direct import to imovie (ipad2) through camera connection kit

    Hi
I am looking to create a list of consumer (and prosumer) cameras which can directly connect to ipad2 via CCK and the video (& accompanying audio) shot by these cameras directly import in imovie without any conversion etc. for subsequent editing.
So far I have see some posts mentioning Flip Mino HD being able to do this.
Would also appreciate if the camera's resolution, rough price and other details are also posted for comparision sake.
    Thanks in advance!

Panasonic Lumix TZ7 also seems to work as per post by floridadaz. Also saw a youtube video mentioning the same (Cannes Harbor Stroll by dkiechle)

i want to know that how can i print direct from my pc, and i also want to knw that can i directly print from my ios device.

To print from your PC, please check out the following iFelix article.
To print from an iOS device (iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad), the printer must be AirPrint-ready. If the printer is not, another option would be to use something like.
Also you can check out this Apple Support article.

  • When I upload videos that were shot in portrait to iMovie, they are oddly distorted and widened. Is there anyway of fixing this?

When I upload videos that were shot in portrait to iMovie, they are oddly distorted and widened. Is there anyway of fixing this?

Thanks for the advice! However, when I tried your suggestion, the image was still distorted. Instead of being the usual portrait view with the black bars on either side of the video, the entire video stretches to fill the whole screen, making everything on the video seem much wider than the images truly are. Do you have any suggestions for fixing this?

  • Why can't I import old imovies into idvd?

Why can't I import old imovies into idvd?

I have 68 GB free and the movie is a small one. The iDVD file is on my hard drive and in the dock.
Today I found a work around for this problem.  While I cannot open the original movie, I can access the clips in the media folder.  I put the clips together and made a new movie.   And I can import this to iDVD by going to "share" in the menu and selecting iDVD.

  • Make a presentation with videos that can be used on a Windows PC.

I need to make a presentation that can be projected from a PC using Windows. I am using Keynote 09, and some of my "slides" are short videos in m4v format. How can I burn the presentation onto a CD so the CD can be used by a Windows PC?

He can't upload new photos for BannerZest as they have to be added to the application and included in the script.
Its possible for him to upload movies and slideshows to a folder on the server so that you can provide a hyperlink to the movie on the website so that it opens and plays in a new browser window.

  • Would Like To Buy A Bluetooth Digital Camera or Video Camera

I'm having a very hard time finding any type of camera that uses Bluetooth. Are there any? I basically just want to take good pictures and transfer them to my computer wirelessly. Would a Palm device be good for this? Help. Please...
I'm now starting to look at Palm device for the very first time. Can somebody please post a list of all Palm devices that have a built-in camera? From a quick search, it doesn't seem like there are many. Is there some master list of ALL Bluetooth devices (digital cameras, video cameras, Palm devices)?

Then you need/want a MacBook Pro with as much CPU & GPU as you can afford. The only models with a dedicated GPU are the 15" & 17". Also consider the antiglare screen, again only available with the 15" & 17" models. Both the MBA & 13" MBP would be poor choices for your intended use.

  • Which digital camera will accept a FD 35-70mm and a 80-200mm auto zoom lens?

Purchased T50 Canon camera 20+ years ago.  Barely used, but needs repair.  Also purchased  FD 35-70mm Canon zoom lens and 80-200mm auto zoom lens.  Which Canon digital camera will accept these lens?

FD series lenses are pre-EOS.  They don't auto-focus.
Canon started this line with the F-1 in 1971 and continued with them until around 1990 and they were phased out in favor of the EOS system.
You can find a list of bodies that use FD lenses here:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canon_fd
I have a Canon AE-1 (still have it ... still works!) which uses FD lenses.
