Restore the device to factory settings with iTunes.

Some discussions here cause me to fear upgrading to Mavericks.

I have two Macs (iMac 24 inch early 2009 with 8 GB using Lion and MB Pro 16 inch with Retina using Mountain Lion).
I use a Western Digital I TB My Passport for Mac on my MB pro and a Time Capsule for backup on my iMac.
Some discussions here mention problems with external hard drives that seem serious enough to convince anyone to not upgrade. I understand that the people that don't have problems don't post here but perhaps they read here before upgrading. I want to upgrade but wonder if there is any place that I can find the actual percent of Mavericks users who are not having problems?

This has nothing to do with mechanical drives mfg. by WD, nor the controller boards ON the HD.
A hard drive is a lifeless brick, all of them, variances to the data corruption issue here are central to:
A: Mavericks OS (causation still unknown in relation to B or otherwise).
B: software (WD software, known causation as WD has admitted to already).
Run this uninstaller and see if you have any WD software on your system:

All evidence currently (barring further investigation) points to:
A: WD control software (w/ Mavericks)

D: (and a minor sleep issue with external drives thru thunderbolt and firewire)
E: SPOTLIGHT in Mavericks **

,..increasing statistical examination of spotlight / finder as causative.
To be certain, the mechanical drive in and of itself (be it seagate, WD, toshiba or hitachi) is playing no causative role in the corruption, no would it sensibly.
I have tried to induce failure on nearly 20 drives, both partitioned and fake TM backup redundant copies (without the use of WD software) and cannot replicate it, oddly, with use of Mavericks on a macbook Air and Mac Mini

There may be a few links in Apple Support, regarding articles about how to use iBooks Author
and iBooks Store, etc; these would be separated into two general categories by device used.
Since there is an iOS and an OS X version of each, you may have to look to see what Apple
Support says about the one you are interested in; and how far their database goes toward an
answer to your question. Otherwise, a general search engine approach may be necessary.
Not sure if anything along the lines of what you seek would be available in an App.

I would like to transfer my itunes library on my pc to my wifes Imac which has her itunes library on it. Is is possible to do this and have two separate librarys on one imac? If so, what is the best way to transfer it?

There are many ways to accomplish this, depending on how you want it. Setting up multiple accounts is easy under System Preferences:Accounts. After that open iTunes on your newly created account.
Now, is where you could do a couple of different things. If your PC is sharing the same network and you are able to see the files on the PC from the iMac, then just drag and drop the iTunes Library music folder structure (just the part that contains the actual music) into the iTunes window. If you can't access the PC files, then you need to copy them all to an external hard drive, and import them w/ the same method.
If you don't want to create a second root-level account for yourself, but want to keep the music library separate, create another iTunes Library. You do this by holding down the Option key while starting iTunes, then click on the Create Library option. Then import the music using either method above.

Hi, I'm going to buy the new MacBook AIR full loaded but I have been reading all the discussions here and look like it has so many problems. My other option is the MacBook Retina.

I am worry about these amount of problem that I just read about MBair. I want to change to apple because most of my genetic software runs very good in these computer. As I said MBP retina is my other option. I am thinking to buy a full loaded MBair. I will appreciate your comments or/and recomendations. Thanks

Keep in mind what you are reading here is a biased sample, by definition. People mainly come here because they have a problem. A user who is not experiencing any problems is very likely to have never eveh heard of these forums.
Keep in mind that Apple sells millions of laptops every year, and you have no idea how many of them do NOT have the problems you see being discussed here. And if there were truly huge numbers of dissatisfied customers, how has Apple continued to sell so many computers consistantly for so many years?

Check the settings in the Accounts for Mail.
Mail > Preferences > Accounts > Click on your email Account in the left column > What appears under Full Name in the right column?
If that is the incorrect name you're describing change it to your correct name.

I am traversing over all layers using layerIndex.
I can get current later name in following way.

Dashboard prompt for report which displays curent and previous FY

We have a dashboard with the prompt for the FY and one of the reports on the dashboard should show results for selected FY and previous FY. Report has filters Fiscal Year is greater than or equal to PREVIOUS_FSCL_YEAR AND Fiscal Year is less than or equal to CURRENT_FSCL_YEAR. However if filters are not protected report will display only results for FY selected in prompt but if they are protected it will then ignore prompt. Any idea how to resolve this issue? We need this solution if FY 2009 is selected in the prompt report will display results for FY2008 and FY2009 or if FY 2010 is selected report will display results for FY2009 and FY2010.

Hi,
You can do this by creating a dynamic variable in the RPD for the current year as:
SELECT (TO_CHAR(sysdate,'YYYY')) from dual. This will produce Current Year value.
In the Answers for the report which refers to the Year Column. Make a filter from the Year Column. While making filter Click on 'Advanced' in the Filter--> Convert this filter to SQL. And inside it write this forumla: Column_name_will come=VALUEOF(Dynamic_Variable_Name)
For Example-"Time Period Year"."Calendar Year" = VALUEOF("Current_Year_Var")
Make similar filter and write the SQL Filter as- "Time Period Year"."Calendar Year" = VALUEOF("Current_Year_Var")-1
(This will give you the last year value)
And important is make it as 'OR' condition between the two filters.
Hope this will resolve your problem. Let me know further

Save for previous 2009 -- 8.5 with value signaling

I have the following VI, that is an example for a friend of mine. I am not sure if the property "Value signaling" is in 8.5, but if it is not, I would not expect a crash, rather a warning or something to that extent.

LV2009 has the (known) problem of saving VIs with an event structure back to previous versions prior to LV8.6...

How is Photographer's Toobox ("Elegance") for support? Are "Elegance" issues discussed here?

Using LR 4.1 on an I7 iMac on OSX 10.6.8
My display of this forum has gone bad: i only see "trending" discussions so it's very hard to read.
I just purchased the full version of Photographer's Toobox "Elegance" and am seeing all kinds of problems:
I can't successfully set the background color. Whenever I enter hex code for the color desired Elegance wipes out my entry and substitutes something else: it seems to favor a hot raspberry. I tried to override this in the finished output but can't find where the background color is defined as code.
I am using iframe to embed a slideshow and I'm getting the background in my output no matter what I do- I can't get it to display just the images without a 'background' border on at least one side.
I've learned not to use thumbnails, because any editing in that part of the Lightroom panel reduces the thumbs to just the one image, corresponding to the fykksuze image being currently displayed.
FInally I have a problem with one iframed slideshow wherein all the images are slid almost halfway down the frame:
I have written to the devloper but so far no response (It's only been a day, but seems like forever, LOL).
I'm hoping to learn here if anyone has news on any of my problems, and how stable and reliable Elegance (and its support) has been for LIghtroom users.
