Which display driver package do I need for Nvidia Quadro NVS 110m?

Hi there,
I'm new to (Arch) Linux and was wondering which display driver package I need. I have a Dell Latitude D620 with a "nvidia quadro nvs 110m".
In the Arch Linux beginners guide it says:
1. nvidia-96xx slightly newer cards up to the GF 4.
2. nvidia-173xx Geforce FX series cards
3. nvidia newest GPUs after the GF FX
Consult the NVIDIA-Homepage to see which one is for you.
But on the NVIDIA-Homepage it says:
The GeForce M series and GeForce Go series notebook GPUs use drivers that have been customized by the notebook manufacturers to support hot key functions, power management functions, lid close and suspend/resume behavior. NVIDIA has worked with some notebook manufacturers to provide notebook-specific driver updates, however, most notebook driver updates must come from the notebook manufacturer.
And they just forward me to Dell Support which obviously neither offers a linux driver nor linux driver information for the D620.
So which of the three packages do I have to install?
Are these packages open-source drivers? Do I need proprietary nvidia drivers to get full 3D-performance?
Does anybody have experience with the D620?
Although I'm new to Linux and I like the KISS idea behind Arch Linux, I still want to have all that Compiz Fusion eye candy. I also want to play a few games which need 3D performance (once I'm familiar with wine). ;-)
Thanks in advance for your help,
Blackhole

Thanks a lot.
Final question: How does Arch Linux deal with license issues? If the nvidia package includes the original nvidia drivers linked above, doesn't that cause any legal/moral problems? Like in Ubuntu for example they always point out that it's proprietary software you're gonna install when enabling the nvidia drivers.
Just wondering...

  • Nvidia Quadro NVS 110M (Dell Latitude D620) driver issue

I'm having trouble installing the right driver for Nvidia QUadro NVS 110M video card on my laptop. What ever driver I install it requests for a reboot and when I restart, I get a blue screen.
Things that I have tried (all resulted in blue screen after restart).
    Update driver using Automatic update
Downloaded driver from Dell support site (for Vista)
    Downloaded driver from nVidia
    Downloaded beta driver from nVidia
Please note: It used to work on Windows 7 before on the same laptop - I was trying to replace HDD and cant seem to make it work again with the new OS installation.Chandra Sekhar

    Hello,
    I'd suggest you installing the XP driver in Compatibility mode. Remove that hardware device in Device Manager, right-click on the driver executable/installer file and select the Compatibility tab; click the checkbox before Run this program in Compatibility mode for option and select Windows XP in the list-down box;
If the problem still persists, please understand that Windows 7 is a new operating system (only the beta version) and whole driverstore has been reprogrammed; some old driver is not compatible with new OS. I suggest that you should wait for another period of time till the retail version is released and push the vendor company to upgrade their device driver. Thanks for your time and understanding!
For more details, please look at the first Sticky thread at the top of this forum.
What can I do if my hardware does not work?
This will give you some guidelines.
    Good Luck!

  • HT1515 which version of Airport Utility is needed for my Airport Express A1084????

How can I find out which version of Airport Utility is needed for my Airport Express A1084????

I have this issue, too. The problem with the advice from Saito_Chickara is that Mavericks (I'm on 10.9.2) does not allow you to run AirPort Utility 5.x. So for those of us on Mavericks, what can we do? I have yet to find a solution. This is really frustrating.

  • Driver please! NVidia Quadro NVS 140M Windows 7 64-bit

Installed Windows 7 RTM (Professional, x64) on my T61.  Surprise!  There's no driver for my NVidia Quadro NVS 140M, and I can't install the one that I downloaded from NVidia.  I'm stuck in 1024x768.  Ouch!
    What's the plan, Stan?
If there are any driver hackers out there who could help me install NVidia's driver, please speak up.

I'm running now using the NVidia-provided driver for Windows 7 x64.  I was able to install it by running the installer in Vista compatibility mode.
For Windows 7 newbies, the specific steps are:
     * Download the installer (186.81_notebook_win7_winvista_64bit_international_whql.exe)
     * Run this file to extract the files to C:\DRIVERS\WIN\VIDEO
     * For the two files nvudisp.exe and setup.exe in  C:\DRIVERS\WIN\VIDEO, do the following:
     * Right-click the file, select Properties.
     * Click the Compatibility tab
     * Check the box for "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"  Select "Windows Vista (Service Pack 2)
     * Click OK.
Then double-click setup.exe to run it.
So far this is working for me.

  • NVidia Quadro NVS 285 and 30" titanium cinema display

Does the nVidia Quadro NVS 285 (or 55/280 PCI) support the old 30" titanium cinema display? I'm running the display to an HP tower via DVI-D dual link adapted to a DVI dual link (DMS-59), and I can't get it to work. Can anyone help?

I wish I could offer some advice. Instead, I am seeking your thoughts on the new card. Did the X800XT work? I have the same machine as you and am looking to upgrade my 64mb geForce 5200 card with either the 9600Pro for Mac or PC or the X800XT card (by Radeon).
Though it seems like production of the X800XT card has slowed to a crawl, I've found some for sale online. Just nervous, as I've read mixed things!
    Your opinion would be welcomed.
    Thank you,
    Kevin

    Hi !
I'd very much appreciate if someone could tell me what package I need for the == operator to function.

None! Just use to compare primitive types (not objects!).
Take a look at Java language specification, it is the basis to Java programming.

  • Which version packages do I need for T530 with Windows 7 x64?

    - Power Management Driver:
    This version http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS032258
    Or this version http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS014939
    - Intel Management Engine Firmware:
    This version http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS028929
    Or this version http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS032435
The reason I'm asking is because Lenovo Support Driver & Software website lists all these versions for T530 with Windows 7 x64.

usually i go for the newer version.
and on my thinkpad i installed power management driver version 1.66
and for ime firmware the second link you provided.

  • Display driver has recommended a problem for windows 7

hey !! i have dell  vostro 1015 and everyday  my laptop hangs a lot and the display driver has stopped responding. i have tried all the things to fix the display driver problem . please suggest me some options .

In order to assist you, we will need the .DMP files to analyze what exactly occurred at the time of the crash, etc.
If you don't know where .DMP files are located, here's how to get to them:
    1. Navigate to the
    %systemroot%\Minidump folder.
    2. Copy any and
all DMP files in the Minidump folder to your Desktop and then zip up these files.
    3. Upload the zip
containing the .DMP files to Onedrive or a hosting site of your choice and paste in your reply. Prefered sites: Onedrive, Mediafire, Dropbox, etc. Nothing with wait-timers.
    4 (optional): The
type of .DMP files located in the Minidump folder are known as Small Memory Dumps. In %systemroot% there will be what is known as a Kernel-Dump (if your system is set to generate). It is labeled MEMORY.DMP. The difference between Small Memory Dumps and Kernel-Dumps
in the simplest definition is a Kernel-Dump contains much more
information at the time of the crash, therefore allowing further debugging of your issue. If your upload speed permits it, and you aren't going against any strict bandwidth and/or usage caps, etc, the Kernel-Dump is the best choice. Do note that Kernel-Dumps
are much larger in size due to containing
much more info, which is why I mentioned upload speed, etc.
If you are going to use Onedrive but don't know how to upload to it, please visit the following:
Upload photos and files to Onedrive.
Please note that any "cleaner" programs such as TuneUp Utilities, CCleaner, etc, by default will delete .DMP files upon
    use.
If your computer is not generating .DMP files, please do the following:
    1. Start > type
%systemroot% which should show the Windows folder, click on it. Once inside that folder, ensure there is a Minidump folder created. If not, CTRL-SHIFT-N to make a New Folder and name it Minidump.
    2. Windows key +
Pause key. This should bring up System. Click Advanced System Settings on the left > Advanced > Performance > Settings > Advanced > Ensure there's a check-mark for 'Automatically manage paging file size for all drives'.
    3. Windows key +
Pause key. This should bring up System. Click Advanced System Settings on the left > Advanced > Startup and Recovery > Settings > System Failure > ensure there is a check mark next to 'Write an event to the system log'.
Ensure Small Memory Dump is selected and ensure the path is %systemroot%\Minidump.
    4. Double check
    that the WERS is ENABLED:
Start > Search > type services.msc > Under the name tab, find Windows Error Reporting Service > If the status of the service is not Started then right click it
and select Start. Also ensure that under Startup Type it is set to Automatic rather than Manual. You can do this by right clicking it, selecting properties, and under General selecting startup type to 'Automatic', and then click Apply.

  • Reccomendations needed for NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT replacement.

I just had my third NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT graphics card fail (got them replaced through Apple Care which has now expired). I need to get a replacement graphics card but do not want another one of these!
Specs on my '07 Mac Pro:
      Model Name:    Mac Pro
      Model Identifier:    MacPro1,1
      Processor Name:    Dual-Core Intel Xeon
      Processor Speed:    3 GHz
    Any recommendations greatly appreciated!

Requires 10.6.5 - and 10.6.5 DVD retail don't seem to exist for anyone that doesn't already have 10.6 installed which means "no booting from DVD for us" if needed, and 'slipstream' drivers also is a no-go. In Panther 10.3 you could, BootCD was a great tool to have current OS X on your own DVD. Now you need to create your own flash based boot volume or something.
Check the display setup tips, running multiple displays isn't always obvious.

I don't even think that even the custom driver folks have Leopard drivers.
Most of their sights are on ATI 6xxx or GTX 500s, and Lion.

  • Tecra M5 Nvidia Quatro NVS 110M Windows 7 32bit driver

I upgraded to Windows 7 operating system without any issues until a few moths down the track my graphics driver corrupted and I have tried to reinstall it several times. I downloaded the driver from the Nvidia site ver 179.48 for Win 7 but I just keep getting a code 43 error and the display defaults to 800x600 16 colors. When I click to update the driver it does so sucessfully but when it reboots it defaults back to the setting above. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled the driver but same issue arises.
I have reinstalled Windows 7 (I have Ultimate N) 32 bit operating system but noo good it defaults back to the problem with the driver. Can anyone help me with a more appropriate version of the driver to install please. I tried to look for it on the Toshiba site but could not find one.

Usually the display resolution should be higher even if the display driver was not installed.
The point is that Win 7 provides an standard Microsoft driver and this driver should run properly and the display resolution should work too.
Do you have any display problems using the Toshiba standard image?
Check this because I think that a graphic card issue might be possible
