I have been using a Western Digital 180 GB external FW/USB combo HD as a backup clone for my internal Imac G5 HD. I has a built-in 6-1 card reader I can use for CF, SD, etc cards. It also comes bundled with Retrospect Express which I use as my backup program. Note that when using the FW port I disconnect all other FW devices.

    Hi 1937,
The Deskjet 3050 j611 printer doesn't support faxing. If you need a printer with fax capabilities check out the following link below.

Which external hard drive should I use/choose as I am setting up Time Machine on my MacBook Pro 15 for the very first time?

Any of these SATA HDDs that are at least the same size as your internal HDD (preferably larger capacity).  In addition you will need an enclosure, preferably one with a Firewire as well as a USB connection.

  • Which external hard drive should I use to save my iTunes library?

    Hi,
So I have collected so much music and movies in iTunes that my internal HD is practically full.  (Library is over 500GB of 1TB and the rest is taken up with my apps and programs.)  It's time to purchase an external hard drive to transfer my library to.  Furthermore, I currently have a 2TB WD My Book for Mac that I am currently using for backup.  The My Book is also full and Time Machine is deleting the oldest backups to make room for the current ones.
Here is where I need everyones advice.  I am planning on purchasing a 3TB WD My Book for Mac.  I am planning on purchasing more movies for iTunes.  Which external hard drive should I use for what?  Option A or B
Option A:  Put my iTunes library on the 2TB external hard drive and use the 3TB for backup
Option B:  Put my iTunes library on the 3TB external hard drive and continue to use the 2TB for backup
Also please give me your reasoning.
    Thanks everyone for your responses!

    Limnos,
So, let's go one step further with this.  I read your reply to moving iTunes library to an external hard drive: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4594518?tstart=0  However, if I move the iTunes library, will this include all the movies and apps that I have purchased?
    Thanks!!!!

  • How to find in R/3 System, which FI document is from which external system?

    Hi Moderator/ FICO Experts,
How to find in R/3 System, which FI document is from which external system?
In case of different Non-SAP external Systems posting the data to one R/3 System.
    Thanks
    Chandra

    Hi,
That really depends on the interfaces that your external systems are using. Check with your ABAP or BASIS team to see what is the method used for posting those documents and with which parameters is passed. Look at BKPF table (FI header) to see the attributes such as user, document type, reference, etc.

  • Advice request - which external HDD for Adobe Lightroom?

    Hi,
I'm going to buy myself an external hdd this week, and I would be very grateful for your advice.
    1) I'm shooting with Nikon D70, Canon A520, and my mobile(;]).
    2) After over 1 year of shooting I have ~130GB of photos taken with these cameras + I have some negative from analog times, which I'm going to scan (I estimate them to be next ~20GB)
    3) I would like to keep all of above photos on external hdd and import them into Abobe Lightroom (tagging + developing), and and of course apply retouching to some of them in PS CS2.
    4) My computers are : old PC desktop with XP, on which I will be only viewing these pictures, and IBM T43 with Vista on which I'm going to do all the developing. [Yes, I know that Apple is better, and I love Apple, but I can'tafford one yet].
Given above assumptions, which external hdd from the ones I've preselected should I choose ? I'm on the budget here, and the ones that I can afford are :
WD My Book Pro 250GB USB 2.0/FireWire400/FireWire800 16MB Cache
WD My Book Premium 320GB USB 2.0/FireWire400 8MB Cache
WD My Book Essential 500GB USB2.0 8MB Cache
    LaCie Porsche 500GB USB 2.0 8MB Cache
I'm asking mainly because I don't have any idea about how fast should a drive be to work with Lightroom with decent speed.
Also : should I buy FireWire controller for my T43 laptop, or will USB 2.0 be enough for my purposes ?
Thanks in advance for sharing your experience.
    Chris

    >Yes, I know that Apple is better, and I love Apple, but I can't afford one yet
Either a PC or MAC is fine, but you've entered a field where affordability is proportional to the number of photos you manage, the type of processing you perform and the level of security you are comfortable with. This is entirely separate of your budget.
USB2 and/or Firewire Drives work fine. From your list, I've owned both the LaCie Porsche and a WD MyBook. They both failed for different reasons. All hard drives will eventually fail. If you can't afford to lose your photo library you need some sort of redundency. The reliability of that redundency (RAID) and or speed of retrieval determines what technology is the minimum you need to afford. Or, if you have more time than budget, you can archive on DVDs. Keep in mind that even DVD's will fail over time.
The faster the drive, the faster the backup (redundency), the faster the throughput, and the faster you have access to managing and processing your image library.
Did I answer your question: No. However, whatever you get, and assuming you value your photos, make sure you get two of them so you can build some redundency into your budget. If you're feeling lucky, get the largest drive you can afford and make sure you leave yourself a lot of time for those backups.
Welcome to "photo shoebox management" of the new millenium! It ain't cheap ... :-)

  • Locating which external javascript is used in CSS

Is there an easy way to tell which .js file that a page element is using?
I have downloaded a template which references so many external .js files and I am having troubles finding which ones I need to modify in order to change the elements on the page.
i.e. Firebug does a great job with telling me which external css files are referenced in design elements.
Is there a way to do a similar thing with javascript?
    Cheers
    Lee

Thanks for the advice guys. Many of the functions within the javascript contain "hardcoded" variables that I need to edit. I'm only doing this for a mockup prior to creating a database driven site.
The templates contain many functions and features in each page and In order for me to change the text that e.g. appears inside a dialog box popup, I need to find the javascript associated with that button. (the person that designed the templates has coded it this way)
The Button Code would look like this
    <a href="#" class="btn marginR10 marginB10" id="openDialog">Show dialog</a>
A small sample of the multiple externally referenced javascript files included in the page would look like this
        <script type="text/javascript" src="plugins/misc/prettify/prettify.js"></script><!-- Code view plugin -->
        <script type="text/javascript" src="plugins/misc/qtip/jquery.qtip.min.js"></script><!-- Custom tooltip plugin -->
        <script type="text/javascript" src="plugins/misc/animated-progress-bar/jquery.progressbar.js"></script>
        <script type="text/javascript" src="plugins/misc/pnotify/jquery.pnotify.min.js"></script>
        <script type="text/javascript" src="plugins/misc/totop/jquery.ui.totop.min.js"></script>
How can I find which .js file is triggered when I "click the button"
    Cheers

  • Is there a way of knowing which external drive ejects?

Is there a way of knowing which external drive ejects?
I have several external drives and when one ejects on it's own it usually immediately restarts again and does not give me time to find which one was the problem drive.
Is there a way of figuring this out?
    Thank you!

No unfortunately without restoring the library and running it there is no way to tell if it is good or not.

  • Which external HD type (firewire or esata)

Which external HD type (firewire or esata), is the best for Rendering video used with a Mac book pro?
ive heard of esata.....is this available as a connection type on a macbook pro?
any and all comments welcome , thank u.

Thank you so much for your input here - these boards/forums are so great for questions and answers for a new to be mac user like me.
I will be getting the G-Drive 500GB drive quad interface.
It has firewire 400 and firewire 800 and USB and esata connections. It comes with a firewire 800 cable.
I think I may just skip the esata expansion card and edit/capture/render on this external drive using FW800.
    thank you again.

  • Which External File format to choose?

Hello I use aperture only for wedding professional photography, which external file format is better to use? TIFF or  PSD , 8 BIT OR 16 BIT?
    Thanks a lot!
    Enrico

Since your raw images probably have more than 8 BIT, I'd pick one of the 16 BIT formats. This will ensure a very high quality when doing color adjustments, skin smoothing and retouching. As for the difference tiff-pds, I have no clear preference. Both are lossless formats and work well with Photoshops layers; only the file size usually is higher for uncompressed TIFFs then for comparable PSDs. What is the external editor you want to use? Have a look, what the manufacturer recommends.

  • Which External Drives are compatible with Time Machine.  I plan to utilize it for backups and to connect to an Airport Extreme.

MBP Retina, 15 inch, Late 2013. Intel Core i7.  OSX 10.9.4
Which External Hard Drives are compatible with Time Machine.
I plan to use one drive for automatic backups connected to an Airport Extreme.
The connection can be USB or Ethernet and should be expandable.
    OR
should I just buy the Time capsule and avoid the compatibility, connection and interference issues.
    Thanks

    Hi Kappy,
I just saw that on the Apple Support site that "Time Machine is not supported with USB hard drives that are connected to an AirPort Express or AirPort Extreme device", just as you have suggested.
Why is the newest model of the Airport Extreme, which is the model I have, an exception to the Time Machine compatibility?
The following information is from Apple website:
    Time Machine works with:
AirPort Time Capsule's built-in hard drive (any model)
External USB hard drive connected to AirPort Time Capsule (any model)
An external hard drive connected to your Mac
Use the Time Machine pane of System Preferences to choose your backup disk(s).
    Additional Information
Time Machine is not supported with USB hard drives that are connected to an AirPort Express or AirPort Extreme device.

  • Which External HD with iMacG5 with OS X Tiger

Anybody out there have any suggestions on which external hard drive works best with OS X Tiger? I have seen some people have been having trouble with External HD and Tiger. I'm looking for 200 GB+ to support dv, and other media. Any ideas?

Make sure you get a FW enclosure with an Oxford chipset. Those have seemed to proven to be the most reliable under OS X. As a bonus, you can clone your internal HD to it and boot from it in an emergency if you need to. With a USB drive, that is not an option.
I have the Mercury Elite Pro from OWC and it works like a charm.

  • Which external cameras work

    Hi,
I recently upgraded my Mac Mini and wonder which external cameras would work with Facetime. I know Apple doesn't sell their Face-Time Cameras anymore, but what alternatives are compatible?

I would think just about any USB drive will work.  They only thing that I've seen is people have better success with USB drives that have their own power.  In other words, don't get one that is powered by the USB connection only.  Some people have solved this by using a powered USB hub but in my opinion you can simplify the solution by just getting the correct drive in the first place.  If you have the opportunity.
