Which Fix Pack is included in which Service Pack?
I found no exhaustive documentation on that.
E.g. Fix Pack 2.6 is out now but I noticed that is also a new Fix Pack for Service Pack 1, namely Fix Pack 1.11 .
If I am a User of Crystal Reports 2008 and have Service Pack 2 applied, which Fix Pack do I have to apply to get the fixes of FP 1.11 ? Do I have to wait for Fix Pack 2.7 then? Or did Fix Pack 2.6 also include Fix Pack 1.11?
This is so confusing. I found no answers to these questions in the release notes.
Hello,
Previous versions of CR did not always follow the same versioning rules. We are now matching major and minor versions with Fix Packs to Service Packs.
With Cr 2008 the major number of the Fix pack is the major number of the Service Pack. In your case if you are on SP 2 then Fix Pack 2.x can be applied. You cannot apply FP 1.11, that is for people still on SP 1.
Fix Pack 2.7 is now available: https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100005755702010E/cr2008fp27.exe

Fix for continuous reboot after installing Service Pack 3 in Windows XP
After contacting HP Technical Support and speaking to a supervisor we were able to solve the problem of Windows continuously rebooting after installing SP3. Here are the steps that fixed the problem with my HP Pavilion running on an AMD processor. The steps are actually fairly straight forward and easy....
Issue: The computer reboots continuously after installing Windows XP service pack 3
Computer reboots continuously after installing Windows XP service pack 3 on AMD systems. The problem is that with some configurations, SP3 causes the computer to crash during boot, and Windows XP, by default, is set up to automatically reboot when it crashes. That is why you end up in the endless rebooting scenario.
Cause:
On HP computers, the same Windows installation disc image for Intel processor based PC's is deployed for the AMD processor based computers as well. Because the original installation image for both Intel and AMD is the same, all have the intelppm.sys driver installed and running. That driver provides power management on Intel-based computers. On an AMD-based computer, amdk8.sys provides the same functionality for power management.
Symptoms:
Ordinarily, having intelppm.sys running on an AMD-based computer appears to cause no problems. However, on the first reboot after a Service Pack 3 installation, it causes a big problem. The computer either fails to boot, or crashes with a STOP error code of 0x0000007e.
You may not see the error code because the computer reboots too fast. In order to get the error message, you need to set an option during startup. To do so, open the windows advanced menu by tapping the f8 key on startup. Then select the "Disable automatic restart on system failure" option.
Solution:
If you have an AMD-based computer, however, you do not need the intelppm.sys driver and can disable it. There are three methods in order to do this.
Step 1: Please try to log on the system in safe mode.
1. While using Safe mode open the command prompt.... Start, All Programs, Accessories, Command Prompt
Run the following command in the command prompt just like it's typed: sc config intelppm start= disabled
Step 2:
If the issue persists, please try to log on or boot the system in recovery console (refer to the web document)
2. Using recovery console:
If you booted into the recovery console, from a command prompt, type: disable intelppm
Step 3: Please check in registry.
3. Using windows registry:
1. Run regedit
2. Click on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
3. From the File menu, select "Load hive"
4. Navigate to %systemdriver%\Windows\System32\Config on the dead system and select the file name System
5. Name it something you can remember, such as "horked"
6. Navigate to horked\ControlSet001\Services\IntelPPM
7. Double click the Start value and set it to 4
8. If you did what I did and completely messed things up by running a disk check previously, navigate to ControlSet001\Control\SessionManager. Open the BootExecute value and clear out the autochk entries.
9. Repeat steps 6-8 for the other control sets.
10. Reboot

For future reference: Service pack 3 Installation steps:
Before installing the service pack 3 update, please follow the steps listed above and save yourself much time and effort.
To uninstall service pack 3, I suggest that you uninstall it from add/remove programs.
Step 1:
Uninstall service pack 3 from add/remove programs:
1. Click Start.
2. Select Run.
3. Type appwiz.cpl in the run field.
4. Click OK.
5. Click change or remove programs.
6. Select the program -service pack 3 that you want to uninstall or remove.
7. Click Remove button.
8. It will pop up the message stating that "Are you sure you want to remove the programs".
9. Click Yes. It will help you to remove or uninstall the installed programs from add and remove programs.
Step 2: If the issue persists, I suggest you to perform system restore and then try to install the service pack 3 after performing the steps mentioned above in regards to removing the intelppm.sys Driver.

I hope this helps someone who is having this problem. It sure took me a minute to get it all figured out. :0)Still useful as of 12/30/11. Have ten Lenovo 5042 computers with downgrade licenses to run XP and have a ghosted image from another Lenovo 5042 having and Intel cpu. My target computers all have AMD cpus in them and the image would continuously reboot on
the AMD computers.
Used method 1 and it cleared the problem instantly, many thanks for the post and the time and effort it took to dig up the answer.. -
Sequence for Updates (Service Pack / Fix Pack)
Hello everybody.
I'm a bit confused about the update strategy.
Until now I was convinced that the strategy for the updates is or should be like this:
Service Pack 1 --> Fix Pack 1.1 --> Fix Pack 1.2 --> ... --> Fix Pack 1.x
Service Pack 2 --> Fix Pack 2.1 --> Fix Pack 2.2 --> ... --> Fix Pack 2.x
Service Pack 3 --> Fix Pack 3.1 ...
and so on, and so on.
There shouldn't be possible to install, e.g a Fix Pack 2.1 after the Service Pack 3 is installed.
But because of an problem with the connection server under Windows 2003 I'm not that sure anymore.
The story in short:
We've got installed the Service Pack 4 on the Enterprise.
After a few Windows updates the connection server didn't start anymore.
In the forum some say that this issue is fixed with the Fix Pack 3.6.
So first I wondered why the issue occurs on a system with a higher patch.
But the I've seen in the SAP Service Marketplace that the Fix Pack 3.6 is released after the Service Pack 4. Does this mean it is "more up to date"?
Is my image of the update sequence incorrect?
Thanks for any explanation in advance.
Regards
PS: My connection service problem was solved by uninstalling the windows update KB2509553 and a restart of the system.Hi,
the explanation of this is the following:
At some point they start with the development of SP4. Lets say they start the dev. of SP4 during the release SP3 FP3.5. So all fixes after FP3.5 wont get packed into SP4. Thats why FP3.6 will fix a bug which SP4 wont. With the release of FP4.1 this fix from FP3.6 will be packaged aswell into FP4.1
I hope this made it clear.

2008 Engage Server Service packs and Fix Packs
I have Engage Server. I tried to load SP 3 and it didn't let me open old files. SAP told me SP3 was not compatible with Server product. I had to roll back to base version 5.0.0.99 build 12,0,0,121. Does anybody know if I can at least load SP1 or SP2 (and/or Fix packs) so I can have some of the basic features?
Your first question was answered many time int his forums, please use search functionality before posting a question.
There is no publicly available Version matrix + fixed issues list.
However, you can do to Service Market Place > Downloads locate XIR2 section and see how many Service Packs and Fix Packs are available.
Latest Service Pack for XIR2 is 6
latest Fix Pack for XIR2 is FP6.4 (needs to be installed on top of SP6)
To the right of each SP/FP in the download section of SMP is a link called "Info" , it leads to Knowledge articles which contain list of fixed issues.
As all SP/FP's are cumulative, you can view Sp6 readme and Fp6.4readme to get overall picture of fixed issues. -

Vista Service Pack 1 breaks ability to join OSX 10.5 Server OD? (samba)
Can anyone confirm or deny this problem:
Vista SP1 is unable to join an OSX 10.5 server OD (samba domain).
Vista pre SP1 worked fine if you changed the LM authentication level to "use NTLMv1 and NTLMv2", but now that hack does not work anymore.
Does anyone have the same problem? Is anyone able to join Vista SP1 to OSX OD (samba domain)?
If you had a pre SP1 vista machine joined to a domain, and then installed SP1, that doesn't count. Once you install SP1 and try to rejoin the domain, it doesn't work. At least this is my experience.
Either a confirm or deny would be great, I can't get any answer on this problem. If you know the fix I'd love to hear it.
Thanks!
AlexHi Manne,
As your description, you come across an error when trying to install SQL Server 2008 express Service Pack 1 on windows XP Service Pack 3 machine. From your error log, I get the error(unable to read registry value). As my analysis, the issue could be due
to that your account doesn't have access to registry. Below are the recommendations for troubleshooting the issue.
1. Make sure that you log in as an administrator of the machine.
2. Please follow the steps below to make sure that you have granted the right permission to registry.
a. Located HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server in registry.
b. Right click and go to Permission, then you could see user accounts or groups. If your user account is not in the list, you could click Add to add your account there.
c. Select your account and Click on Advance.
d. Check on both check box ('Include inheritable permissions from this object's parent'.
and 'Replace all child object permissions with inheritable permissions from this object'), click OK.
e. Click OK again.

How to install Vista Service Pack 1 - Equium P200
have now tried loads of times to install sp1 update. this on Equium P200. update sticks in loop and finally reverts to old settings.tried installinfrom disc. this did same, but came up with error code 0x800f0826. the link this took me to microsoft siteand just gave same things to try as before.
Searched for fault code, not found. can anyone in very easy terms tell me what this code is and then in simple steps how to install sp1 update. i have been using autoupdate and when checked maually, the only update that has not been installed is sp1.Try to download the sp1 manually from microsoft.com

hi all
i just want to install interwoven in my 2000 server but i have only weblogic
service pack 2 but i need weblogic server 6.0 service pack 6 pls help me to
find out in bea site
thanks
MAhesh
For WLS 6.0 the most current service pack is 6.0 sp2 rp2 (rolling patch 2 over
service pack 2)
There is no service pack 6 out there yet for WLS6.0
If its WLS5.1 then the latest sp is sp10 which is available on the website
Check with interwoven on the exact requirements

S S ManneHi Manne,
As your description, you come across an error when trying to install SQL Server 2008 express Service Pack 1 on windows XP Service Pack 3 machine.

WLPI: business operations JNDI lookup & service pack
Hello,
I ran into a problem attempting to define a business operation in the Studio application
using WLPI 1.2.1 (without service pack 1). Everything works up to the point where
I press the Done button and Studio attempts to create a new business operation
object. I am getting a JNDI lookup exception. It appearsejb-name of method in
isolation-level must be the same name as that of the weblogic-enterprise-bean
Studio is looking up the name 'com.bea.wlpi.businessoperation' while the business
operation bean is bound under 'com.bea.wlpi.BusinessOperation'.
In an attempt to fix this problem I upgraded to service pack 1, but am now unable
to deploy wlpi-ejb.jar because of the following error: "ejb-name of method in
isolation-level must be the same name as that of the weblogic-enterprise-bean".
Can anyone help me create a business operation?
Thanks,
MartinMake sure that this Datasource you created is Targetted to Admin Server and full Cluster (incase of cluster domain). From Admin Console, select your datasource and check for the Targets tab. Since its JNDI lookup error, most probably it may not be deployed properly.

XP Service Pack 3 cripples live drive
% Once I upgrade to service pack 3 my li've dri've no longer works.
I have tried reinstalling the creative drivers, but Windows seems to re-install broken drivers.
After upgrading to service pack 3 none of my li've dri've inputs (mic/line2) show up in the windows or creative mixer.
Please help!)Re: XP Service Pack 3 cripples li've dri've? Dear fellow user:
I may be reaching a bit but I would like you to try something that is very simple. Go to your Creative software and verify in each program that your I/O dri've cannot be seen. Then shutdown the machine. UNPLUG THE i/o dri've with power and the ribbon cable. Restart the machine. Verify again that you have or do not have access to any of the features. (I know this sounds silly)? Then shutdown the machine and reconnect everything. This is similar to removing a device and letting windows redetect it. I have a very old (*998*) Creative Li've Dri've (precursor to the I/O dri'ves) that was not recognized in Windows XP nor Vista. Then I shutdown and replugged everything and rebooted and it was there again. This may sound funny I know, but it almost sounds like Windows just has not picked up the Li've Dri've on this pass. It COULD BE? a service pack 3 issue, but again please give my answer a try. If that does not work, reinstall your driver suite once on top of the Service pack 3 system again. Service packs are massi've updates to your system and it takes a bit to get everything refreshed.
Cheers

When will Best Buy offer Vista Service Pack 2?
It looks like all the Vista PC's on bestbuy.com have service pack 1. Microsoft released Service Pack 2 on May 26. When will Best Buy PC's come with Vista Service Pack 2 installed? It is hard for a person to upgrade to SP2l themsevles?
When you purchase your computer from best buy with optimization service (or for an existing PC) the update to SP2 is done during The optimization. At least at my precinct we do.
