Which has better opportunities Oracle DBA or Oracle Applications
Hello,
I am a fresh MCA candidate currently working in infosys as a Software Engineer. i would like to switch either to Oracle Apps or Oracle DBA. But I am unable to decide which will have better career opportunities.
Regards,
Amjad Khan
>>
As a fresher can I apply for ORacle Apps Jobs after completion of my OCP certification.
>>
Oracle Apps has new certification and if I am nost wrong, it is still in beta.
>>
Is Oracle DBA a higher level then Oracle Applications ?
>>
For me, as a CORE DBA, Oracle Apps doesn't excite me much because I can't play with Oracle Apps database as I do with the CORE database.
There are other areas which should be considered as an Apps DBA.

Which has better export quality. imovie 11' or adobe premiere?
has anyone used both? which has better quality when you export it? I notice that imovie downgrades the quality when exporting by a LOT. It looks great inside imovie and looks terrible once exported!
Hi
I can only guess - (have no Premiere) but
Depends on what will be the end result. DVD or publish on YouTube etc. or saved on an USB-Memory to be Played on PlayStation 3 and alike.
If DVD - then most probably Adobe Premiere is better (if it can export interlaced video to iDVD) - iMovie'08 or 09 or 11 can not do this - they discard every second line resulting in a sever loss of quality.
I use
• iMovie HD6
• FinalCut any version
And they do deliver full quality over to iDVD
If other end results - then it most probably doesn't matter.

Which is a better carrer option,DBA or oracle apps developer, please help?
I am a trainee and have been offered a choice between the oracle DBA and the oracle apps finance developer.
What is the future of a DBA guy ,can he get into the management side in an IT industry or just stick to the tech side all through the life?
Is getting into a managerial side more easier in the DBA or the apps developer side?
Please help ,I am in a real confusion and have to quickly make a decision.
regards

Mahen,
Before giving an opinion, the most relevant part would be to know that you want to do what, be a manager or be a techie or both? AFIK, in the dba track as well, after few years, a person can become a manager , project/team lead. It all depends on this fact tht you want to be a manager or not. I have got couple of friends, some are managers but some chose to stick with technology only despite that they were offered to become a manager as they didn't like the idea of analyzing the appraisal reports than Statspack reports.
Getting into the manager side would only come(or should come) with a proven record. I am not from Apps background, never did that but I feel that's a more functional side that you have mentioned. If you are a finance guy, having a strong base in finance, you should go for it. I don't think that if you are not having a base in this stream, you should be opting for it. You are still a trainee as per your saying, think about being good in either side of the technology than being the manager. You can always be once you have spend some time with either of the tracks.

Thanks,
RahulFor future growth, there's no such thing as wasted education. Real career growth comes from having good knowledge from a broad range of subjects and being able to bring that knowledge together to solve problems. It doesn't come from attending a specific course on a specific subject and letting that define a specific job title and/or letting a specific job title define the specific tasks you do on the job.
The most valuable people in a business are not those who narrowly define their jobs by the last formal class they took. They are people who define their jobs as "problem solver".
I would look at studying Oracle apps as an expansion, not a shift. As would studying networking .... and unix systems management ... and storage management ... and data anlysis .... and business systems analysis .... and human behavior .... and ... and ... -
Oracle DBA to Oracle applications DBA
HI,
I am an Oracle dba with more than 4 years or experience. I am interested in moving towards being Oracle application dba. can anyone sugest books/course/tranning/web site that will help me.
TIA
SonalThere's not a whole lot out there book/web wise that I have ever
found. I'm preparing to enter the same roll as well. There are
11i admin classes that you can take, along with things like
flexfields, workflow, etc that would also help. Good luck. -
Which has better sound - DVD or highest setting Quicktime?
Hi (I hope this question did not go through twice) -- I will be engaging in performances where I'll be streaming video and sound from my laptop... my quesiton is - which is better DVD or highest quality Quicktime? - for sound and vid... and by what degree? -- thanks.
I'll have to say for me it's a tie between my iPhone 3GS and 120 GB (6th gen) iPod Classic. The sound using the Apple in-ear headphones is awesome on those two models. I can't explain why, but that's my observation-there's a marked improvement with those two compared to Nano and older iPod Classic models.

5 Year MSSQL SERVER DBA to ORACLE DBA 11g ( ORACLE ENTERPRISE LINUX )
First of all thanks in advance for reading this thread.
I'm a senior consultant with 5 year experience as MSSQLSERVER DBA.
My company is starting new projects using ORACLE RAC 11g on ORACLE ENTERPRISE LINUX, I would like some guidance to enter the linux & oracle world.
I have some linux basics & oracle basics, but i would like to follow a learning path.
I would be very appreciated if someone help me.
Thanks in advance !concepts manual: [ http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/server.111/b28318/toc.htm|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/server.111/b28318/toc.htm]
you can also search for any Oracle User Group in your area and join them. Most people there are willing to give helping hands in many areas, and often it's easier to discuss problems, or even attitudes with a beer or another than only in a forum. (my personal opinion)
best regards,

Hi,
So I have had the N96 from the very beginning and till now I have nothing to complain except the fact that I am still on FW 12!!! (my code is 0573802). Some help would not hurt
Now my real concern about this thread is that I am thinking of changing to an N97 due to the fact that I would like to have a touchscreen and also the qwery keyboard is a cool feature!! But I would like to know the N97 sound quality compared to the N96. I need to have good sound quality.
Anyhelp would be appreciated in all cases.
Thank you.grschinon wrote:
0573802 is the product code of a phone bought from the Carphone Warehouse.
Contact CPW and ask them for written permission to install generic firmware onto your phone. With that written permission, visit your nearest Nokia Care Point, where they will do the necessary and you'll be able to walk out of there with V30 on your phone. You'll also be able to update sooner when Nokia release new firmware versions.
What does this have to do with this thread?
Mark my posts as helpful if anyone finds it! After all you will make us improve.
Thanks for kudos if you give! -

Perhaps the answer is "no one knows" but I was wondering if anyone had either any personally perceived differences or (ii) a resource they could reference that actually gave test results.

Oracle DBA or Datawarehousing ?
I have been working in production support stuff from the past 3.5 years in MNC where I have knowledge in Oracle PL/SQL developer. I just want shift to one technology.
Please advice me whether to go with ORACLE DBA or Data warehousing.
Which has better career?
Please help me guys.Which has better career? Better is a very Qualitative term. So what is the metrics that quantify better? Is it Pay or Job Availability or Job Satisfaction or Something else?
Oracle DBA or Data Warehousing Don't Data Warehousing system have DBA?
3.5 Years is a very less time to decide on what you are going to do for the next 30 years. Don't limit your self to specific technology or role. Explore all possibility. In the process you will identify yourself and find the correct direction. -

Advice on Oracle DBA Associate (OCA) Certification
Hi, All
i'm a newbie to Oracle. I was given a task of passing Cetrtification Exam 1z0-042 for
Oracle DBA (OCA - Oracle Certified Associate)
which is the lowest certification level for an Oracle DBA.
My Q: what Edition of Oracle database should I use in my preparation for the Exam: Oracle Express Edition OR Oracle Standard (enterprise?) Edition?
I started to use E-learning materials from Oracle and I see that most of the examples are given referencing Oracle Enterprise manager, which is not the part of Oracle Express Edition [if i'm wrong pls correct me]
Thank you in advance for your help
If anyone needs help with regular expressions, feel free to stop by at

Sergei ZFor DBA learning, you'll want to use Enterprise Edition with all the bells and whistles (partitioning, RAC, bitmap indexes, you name it). Its free to download for this sort of purpose.
Check out www.dizwell.com for articles on installing Enterprise Edition (through VMWare or directly) on various platforms. -
H.264 vs. MPEG-4 video, which is better quality?
Which is better quality? H.264 or MPEG-4? Is one more compressed than the other? I'm putting video on my iPod and also may want to output to television from the iPod, so I'd also like to know which is better for that as well in addition to which is better in general.
H.264 is significantly more compressed than typical MPEG-4. MPEG-4 naturally would be better quality to the discerning eye, and is not as dependent on the speed of your processor and the strength of your GPU as H.264 is. I managed to get a 320 x 240 video of H.264 compressed to be 200 Megabytes for a 2.5 hour video. On a G5 iMac 1.8 Ghz the playback was fine. Trying the same video on a slower Mac there was significant amount of stuttering of the video itself. Experiment with some one minute shorts and measure the file size and see which has better quality on what you are playing it back on. If you can tell the difference, then go with the higher quality format. Certainly keep a higher quality format burnt to DVD in case you need to recreate from the original.
