Which IMac is best for Adobe Master Collection?

I don't see a forum topic for the Adobe Master Collection, so sorry if I posted it here.
I just purchased the Master Collection. I would like to purchase an IMac that best supports this software without spending over $2,000.
I am not a technie, so I need help choosing a 24" model with correct graphics card-NVIDIA GT120,130 or ATI-HD4850??
I will be adding plug-ins and other software in addition to the Adobe software.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I don't see a forum topic for the Adobe Master Collection
Creative Suites forum Anyway, not much activity there, so asking here is not at all wrong. Sébastien already has provided a comprehensive answer, but just to confirm - for any current Adobe product memory is more important than most other things. On an iMac, you should max out the possible 8GB (just be smart, buy your RAM cheaper from an external source, not from Apple). Processor considerations do not matter that much, as apparently they'll always be a dual core, so buy the one with the highest processor clock speed within your budget. Regarding the graphics, neither Adobe product is particularly demanding - they all use acceleration functions, but far from what you would need e.g. for games or 3D programs. Going with the cheapest model is probably okay. NVidia cards are more reliable with Adobe products, anyway. Also note, that while the name may not give it away, the 120 and 130 are two completely different beasts based on different chipsets, resulting in about 40% more performance on the 130.

  • Checksum codes for Adobe Master Collection CS6

    Hello.
I downloaded the suite Adobe Master Collection CS6 from Adobe.com, but I doubt the integrity of the file "MasterCollection_CS6_LS16.7z" because my connection is low and unstable.
Does anyone know what the checksum code (CRC or MD5) for this file?
    Thank you.

    Thanks for the response.
Sadly, the Contact Customer Care is an infinite loop of aggrivation:
There is NO web chat for me - its always GREYED OUT.
There is NO callback for me - PLEASE TRY AGAIN LATER.
There is NO way to FILE A SUPPORT CASE. I dont see any links.
There is ONLY the forums available atm - so here I am.
As per many user's work around here:
Photoshop CS6 suddenly a trial version of Extended.
I have tried to "re-license" but since the license is REVOKED, there is NO WAY to DE-ACTIVATE my product so I can try to RE-ACTIVATE it again.
Staff Member Barry Young's post # 110, and 113 here:
Re: Photoshop CS6 suddenly a trial version of Extended.
states this is an INTERNAL issue that he is trying to solve. This was way back in 2012. Seems this has surfaced again.
Seems Staff member SG... and Chris Cox were also aware of this issue, and Chris even got the bug himself!
This needs to be fixed please!

  • Which iMac is best for me?

I need help from knowledgeable people. I am wondering which iMac would be best for me. Should I get the 17-inch iMac or the 20-inch iMac? The programs I mainly use on my current computer are Adobe Photoshop, Corel Paint Shop Pro, LimeWire, Ipswitch WS_FTP Pro, AIM Triton, and Mozilla Firefox. Is there really a difference between the two? I don't really care about the price. Thanks.
P.S. What is the difference between Mac mini and iMac?

    Go for the 20 iMac.
It's more powerful. Just be sure to load at least 1 gig of ram,
I still have the stock 512, and it aint enough. Get 2 gig if you can.
As for the 256 vRAM, it wouldn't really matter. 128 is just as good. You'll only notice the slightesst/miniscule difference in performance if you play games, but other than that, it really isn't much of an issue. But if you want to brag about 256 vram then you should get it for not a huge amount of money.
    Good Luck on your decision!
Whichever it would be, it's "apple", so you'd be happy with it.

  • Which imac is best for my daughter? 2.7 or 2.9 ghz

MY daughter is going to study A level moving image at college, before going onto university. My wife and I are computer novices, so would like some advice. We are looking at the 21.5 imac either 2.7 or 2.9ghz, is there much difference between the two in terms of speed.
Also the options we are looking at are 16gb memory and 256gb flash drive (over the 1tb fusion dr). We will be getting preinstalled Final cut pro x and aperture. Will this set up be enough to comfortably run the programs?, or should i get a 8gb memory and 512gb flash drive. The mac would be used for photo and video editing, internet, college work etc.
THe only other difference between the two (2.7 or 2.9ghz models) is the 2.9 comes with a NVIDIA Geforce GT780m with 1GB video memory, which i presume is a graphics card, is this worth having if not into gaming?, would it be useful when running Final cut and video editing?
Any advice  would be most grateful, as its quite a financial outlay, and we know next to nothing about imacs or computers

For graphic arts and film editing I’d recommend the 27” iMac with 16GB or 32GB of RAM. The 27” display makes editing much more enjoyable than the smaller display and the RAM can be upgraded at a later date. The 21.5” iMac cannot be upgraded at all. For film and graphic editing 16GB should be plenty now. I don’t recommend less than 16GB. A 256GB SSD should be sufficient for school work, projects, some music etc. I also recommend a 1TB USB 3 hard drive for backing up the computer using TimeMachine.
Further, at some point your daughter will probably begin creating larger projects and her raw footage and extra files won’t fit on the internal drive and/or the rendered project won’t fit. This isn’t likely to happen in the first year (but might). At that point you’ll want to add a 1-3GB ThunderBolt hard drive. ThunderBolt drives send and accept data differently than USB drives which make them better for movie and sound recording projects. USB 3 is perfectly fine for backing up.
The increased speed of the i7 processor and video card are real but really not as important as RAM and hard drive.

  • Language preferences for Adobe Master Collection CS5

    WAZUP PEEPS!!!!
Are  there updates one can find regarding getting the English language  installed onto a copy of CS5 which is catered for other languages other  than English?

Languages are dictated by the serial and the package you bought, so it cannot be changed after the fact. Different language serials do not accept "foreign2 upgrade serials and that settles that.

    The flaw is here:
    corporate edition
...which essentially means it's most likely a volume license and thus not transferable in the first place. The rest is as Steve said - buying software on eBay is risky even on the best of days.

  • Adobe Master Collection CS3

Are Adobe Master Collection CS3 work`s on 64 bit Windows?
    Thanks!

Thanks for the GREAT info!!! Just what was looking for. I probably will go with an HP d5000t since someone else on another post is using one. It is custom built to my specs, can go to 8GB RAM, and support 64 Vista. I want a high powered graphics card, but I worry about power supply.
As for crashes and other mishaps, I tried to burn a 1-hour DVD out of Encore. It took 2 1/2 hours and got to the very end of the burn process, then froze up. The same thing happened on another computer, so it is software related. Also in Encore, I accidently imported an HD menu (Party Menu HD) into a DV project. From then on it caused numerous crashes "on both PCs". Says it is a corrupted file and wants me to delete it from the project. It will not clear or delete, and even pops up after opening new or archived projects. I finally just got it to burn all the way through after removing a slideshow from the project, but the currupted file is still there even after deleting the 3.0 presets and library folder.
I have Procoder 3 for batch conversions, which is awesome! It has a plug-in for CS3 Premiere, but I use the standalone as well. I wonder if it's causing any of my issues?
Premiere seems to work okay. Plays back poor quality un-rendered video. Audio is a big problem in Premiere. Editable multi-knob effects like compressors and EQ dump their presets in the middle of an edit. I guess they're called VST plug-ins? You know, if I tweek the preset values and then try to "reset" back to the original, it will set the knob settings to bizarre values.
Soundbooth works well, but haven't done too much on it. I hate having to go to another application. I start to lose track of files after they have been extracted from video. I need to come up with a renaming plan. When I try to "Edit Original" in Premiere, a video of still image file, it opens in Windows Media Player instead of the appropriate CS3 app. I don't know how to set that up.
I don't understand Bridge, although I like that it plays files in its own interface and I can get to tutorial videos. Apart from that, I prefer Windows Explorer for finding and moving files. I have not touched Version Cue from CS2 or CS3.
I like Encore and find it much more user-friendly than previous CS.
I opened up After Effects once - and never again, not on this PC. Even a single video file on the timeline, it barely played back - something like a frame a second. I though the computer was going to explode!
Photoshop seemed okay but I did nothing other than simple fixes to Encore menus. I have not tried to work any other apps because I'm afraid of an urecoverable situation.
By the way, my "other PC" is a Newtek Tricaster. ALso about 3 years old or more. It seems a little more stable than the Sony VAIO, and a good backup, but I'm taxing it too much with CS3 on top of its own stuff.
I am looking to sell the Tricaster if anyone is interested. I have no use for it these days.
I did not originate this post, so forgive me for being so wordy. I did start another thread:

  • Migrate Adobe Master Collection to Mac

I purchased Adobe Master Collection CS5 a few years ago and use it on my desktop and laptop PCs. I have since misplaced the installation CD/DVDs. I want to purchase a new Mac laptop and use my Master Collection license for the Mac laptop. I would deactivate and uninstall the version on my PC laptop.
If I can do this, what is the URL for downloading Adobe Master Collection CS5?
I have been unable to find out if this is possible by searching Adobe and elsewhere. I am not ready to purchase CS6 or iCloud versions.
    Thank you!

if you have windows version now, you won't be able to use the mac version with that serial number.
but if you follow all 7 steps you can directly download a trial here:  http://prodesigntools.com/all-adobe-cs5-direct-download-links.html
and activate with a mac serial number.  a windows serial number won't work.
if you have a problem downloading, you didn't follow all 7 steps, or your browser does not accept cookies.
the most common problem is caused by failing to meticulously follow steps 1,2 and/or 3 (which adds a cookie to your system enabling you to download the correct version from adobe.com).
failure to obtain that cookie results in an error page being displayed after clicking a link on prodesigntools.com

  • Free CS6 upgrade for student master collection at $599?

Our school sells the Master Collection for $599 (currently CS5.5).  I would like to buy it and the school staff assures me that I'd get the free upgrade to CS6 if I bought it now.  However, that price (which they've had for awhile now, and is not listed as a special or sale price for them) seems to be less than the normal educational price for the Master Collection.  They say the price will go up when they have CS6 to sell.
The adobe upgrade policy says that the following are invalid: "Receipts showing a product price that is discounted more than 25% off the Adobe retail or educational price (some product exceptions apply)"
What is the regular educational price for the CS5.5 Master Collection and does a purchase now at my school qualify for the free upgrade to CS6 Master Collection when it is released?  The price listed on the adobe site for CS6 Master Collection is $799, which would make our school's price 25.03% off that.
I want to buy now but want to be sure to qualify for the discount.
2nd question: if this is eligible for the upgrade, can I buy the Mac version and then switch to the PC version later?  Our school is out of stock on the PC collection and won't get any in until May 4th.  (which is cutting it very close to cutoff date for eligibility on upgrades).

I'm also in the same situation, kind of. I already got my cs5.5 master collection through my school on the 26th. But every other post I've read about the upgrade only says Creative Suite cs5.5 will get upgrade. So I'm trying to find out if people who got the master collection (which comes with the Creative Suites) are eligible for upgrades complimentary? Any help answers would be appreciated. Thanks.

  • FCP X & Adobe Master Collection specs....HELP!

What specs would I need to run FCPX and Adobe Master Collection on my '07 Mac Pro? It was just gifted to me (YAY!), but I'm not sure what I need to upgrade it to. Here's what I'm working with currently:
    Mac OSX 10.7.5
2x2.66 GHz Dual Core Intel Xeon
    8GB 667 MHz RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT 256 MB
    256 MB VRAM
    750 GB/300Mbps SATA HD
    Guide me!
Thanks in advance for your time!!

    24GB RAM - depends on how serious you are. 16GB 4 x 4GB $180

    GPU: ATI Radeon 5770 $249

CPU: 8-core 2.66 5355 or above ($100 and up) ebay

    http://forums.macrumors.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1
Samsung 840 SSD for the system is the best $100 investment in performance.
Some 1-2TB WD Black for media, library and data storage
    Backups
A 900W 1500VA UPS for system, modem etc
In some ways it makes more sense to go out and buy a 2009 4,1 and go from there instead but you can upgrade and gradually make some changes to get it as current and good as possible.
Yours is a 2006 1,1 - the 2007 2,1 was an 8-core 3GHz but they share the same FBDIMMs, 1333MHz fsb. The 2,1 has firmware to support the 53xx series Xeon processor was all (use to be you almost had to upgrade the 1,1 firmware if you wanted to use a 5300 when replacing the 51xx cpus).
The graphic and RAM and even add on some scratch disks, system boot drive and drives for media and projects are all really what I see as "musts."
Lots of tips and articles about CS6 and upgrade performance (though aimed at newer systems)

  • Can I run adobe master collection in a windows partition on a basic mbp 13" with only the intel chipset?

can I run adobe master collection in a windows partition on a basic mbp 13" with only the intel chipset?
I want to install 16 gb ram but I don't think I can change the lack of video card. I wanted this basic machine because it has fairly long battery life. I don't need or want retina at this time. My model is the mid 2012 model. I am running the adobe collection for mac, I want to run the windows versions. Is it possible? What is the most ram I could access using something like fusion 5, assuming I could get fusion 5 to work? would it refuse to run because of the intel chipset and lack of video card?
If I'm wrong and there is a way to add a video card to this model, could some version of fusion and windows 7 access more than 2 gb operating ram?
What  cost would I be incurring, and would it be cheaper to buy a windows laptop with more ram than I could access via a virtual machine?
I want to work on a client's work in the windows versions of the creative suite, with occasional usage of after effects for windows, and to use some web plug-ins only available in windows versions, and to try some windows-only video and audio software.
thanks for any suggestions. While many people have told me I can run everything on my macbook, I am concerned about what I think is a limited amount of ram that can be accessed over the virtual machine partition softwares, and I don't know if what I want to attempt is actually possible.
My mbp os is 10.8.2 on a 2.5 GHz intel core i5 4 gb 1600MHz DDR3 with 500 hard drive. the basic 13" mid 2012 machine.
I'm hoping to install 16 G of opertating ram to allow more adobe programs to run concurrently- just when I am working on the mac side.
also, off track but, for years I have wanted a small  machine that is more easily portable than my 15" machines. I have only had this used machine for a few weeks, but already I have been very satisfied and used it for presentations at clients. I don't want an air because I really want the dvd burner and player. No matter what apple says about wireless, there are decades of legacy work stored on optical discs all over the world, and I don't want to be unable to open something at a client's office because I don't have a dvd drive. Additionally, I have very large files I want to transfer via ethernet or firewire so that the transfer will take less time and be more secure than wifi. I resist apple's trend to make every machine a disposable toy that is viable only a year or so. I have read reviews that label the mbp it a poor value compared to the air. If all you need to do is text and communicate via wifi, many devices will sufice, and an air is certainly the most elegant. But what about the cost of large ssd's and protecting the drive against damage from shock? I want to be able to move this thing around and the small size is much safer inside my padded bag when I sit in narrow airplane seats, crowded trains and other congested spaces. I am much more likely to be able to borrow a large screen in a client's office ( with the use of one of the three adapters I had to buy) than to be able to borrow a dvd drive that has drivers for mac os 10.8.2. I suspect this may be the last generation of machines that have optical drives and ethernet, and that was why I purchased it so that I could continue to do work into the next few years. I am impressed by the retina display, but I need long battery life. And as beautiful as the retina display is, it is even more of a problem when trying to cross platform with the windows world. I wish I could infuence apple to do a trial product flow for a machine designed to work with 80% of the business world that uses windows. How spectacular that would be. With all their expertise and adept hardware design, to create a machine that cross platforms better than a windows machine itself works? Now that would be an accomplishment.  Instead of 8 or 9 percent of the total computer sales, why not aim for a higher percentage? Smart devices will keep moving toward portable computers in power, anyway.

Fusion should work on your machine and if you put 16 GB of RAM in (see http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/memory/Apple_MacBook_MacBook_Pro/Upgrade/DDR3_160 0MHz_SDRAM), Fusion can access a good portion of that. Also, in a Virtual Machine, the guest OS is presented with Fusion's video card emulation, not what's in hardware on your Mac. Of course, finding Windows 7 now that Win 8 has been released could take some doing and the Win 8 Pro upgrade price is supposed to jump to $200 the end of the month. Add that to the price of Fusion and the extra RAM and you're beginning to get into the realm of low end real PC's.
As to cross platform, I assume you're aware of BootCamp (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1461).
