Which Ipod shuffle to buy?

I have an old mac operating system 10.4.11...Itunes 9 is the highest it goes...what generation of ipod shuffle can i use?  i tried the brand new 4th generation, but it doesn't sync to itunes 9.

The 3rd-generation iPod shuffle will work with Mac OS X 10.4.11 and iTunes 9.

  • Which ipod I should buy? - sound quality

I have bought ipod photo to replace my ipod 3G 15GB, i feel disappointed about ipod photo. It seems that it is quieter than my old ipod, and if I turn the volume to be louder, the sound seems distorted. Also, the detail of music sounds worse than before too.
So I am looking for ipod mini or ipod shuffle. I only consider sound quality, which one should I buy?
Espeically those with one or more ipod, please come to share your point of view. I know different ipod sounds a little bit different. So I wanna know how do they differ?

Well Ipod Mini And Ipod Shuffle have the same apple earphones but if your looking for a better device go with mini.. this is goanna cost you more but the shuffle is cheaper and it also has great sound but i suggest the mini it has a screen and holds more songs

  • Which ipod should I buy?

I have bought ipod photo 30GB a month ago, I feel quite disappointed about its sound. I compare with my old ipod 3rd generation. ipod photo is quieter, and sounds a little bit worse in details.
I would like to find an ipod which can give sound matching the quality of ipod 3rd generation, so loud and rich in details. So which one should i choose? new ipod colour? ipod mini? or ipod shuffle?
Especially if you have listened more than one, please give an idea for me.

Are you using the stock Apple earbuds still? They're not very good. You might want to try better headphones before you abandon the 30GB. I have a 40GB and recently purchased Etymotic 6i's -- they're great! Just a thought.

  • Please advise which iPod I should buy

I'm a newbie when it comes to iPods. I currently have a 2GB nano that I take with me when running but I intend to buy a video iPod big enough to store all my CD's on it. I will not be using it to watch videos, I just need the big storage capacity. I currently have about 100 CD's plus a lot of downloaded music on my computer and I mean a lot.
Which one would you guys advise me to buy: the 30 or the 80 GB iPod?
    Thank you.

What you should do is try and get a look at both. I
chose the 30 because I wanted to carry it around the
house in my pocket and it was not as bulky.
Suffice it to say it isn't bulky vs. the 30. Yes it is thicker by 1/8" or so, not like it is a bowling ball vs. a golf ball in difference - if you can afford the 80 get the 80, as it will surely be needed sooner than you think.
    Here's the info:
    Size and weight (30GB)
    Height: 4.1 inches
    Width: 2.4 inches
    Depth: 0.43 inch
    Weight: 4.8 ounces
    Size and weight (80GB)
    Height: 4.1 inches
    Width: 2.4 inches
    Depth: 0.55 inch
    Weight: 5.5 ounces
So.....it is 0.12 inches thicker (under 1/8 of one inch) and weighs 0.7 ounces more which is 5% more. Holy cow! I can see the need for a wheeled cart due to this tonnage pulling one's trousers off ones body.

  • Suitable alternatives to the iPod Shuffle

Having lost my old 2nd generation iPod Shuffle and having suffered nothing but problems with the new iPod Shuffle due to its intolerance to sweat, I need to find an alternative to the iPod Shuffle as I am about to start training for a marathon. Can anyone recommend any suitable alternatives to the iPod Shuffle?

Buy this: http://scosche.com/products/sfID1/210/sfID2/321/productID/1726 and use any headphones you want (I use Sennheiser water resistant ones: I sweat quite a bit). I've had no sweat problems with this combination.
It is primarily the headphone switch that fails/shorts, not the Shuffle itself if you place it carefully where you won't rain on it.
Or get a Nano and a waterproof case.

  • I can't get my new (used) iPod shuffle to appear in My Computer or iTunes Devices

I can't get my used iPod shuffle to appear in My Computer or iTunes Devices.  Any ideas?

Which iPod shuffle model is it?  This article about syncing the shuffle shows the four types.

As a test, you can try shutting down (powering off) and disconnecting all USB devices (including hub).  Start it up with only standard keyboard and mouse connected (if it's not a laptop).  Run iTunes.  Connect shuffle to a direct USB port.

If it's 2nd gen, do not get a USB cable that is for 3rd/4th gen, because the connector is different.
iPods only "sync" to computers running iTunes. It may work to make song files (on the shuffle) available to play by the car audio system, but that depends on the specification of the car audio system, not the cable.  The car audio system would be using the shuffle like it was a USB flash drive (not syncing).  You'll need to look at the car audio system's documentation to see what devices are supported.

  • My computer is not recognizing my ipod shuffle.  The computer says to use the ipod reset utility.  When I tried doing this it told me that it was for a 32 bit version which I obviously do not have.  My computer is only a few months old.  What do I do now?

My computer is not recognizing my ipod shuffle.  The computer says to use the ipod reset utility.  When I did that it came up with another message that it was only good for a 32 bit version.  I guess I do not have a 32 bit version.  I just purchased my computer a few months ago and it uses the windows 7 operating system.  What do I do now?

    Not sure if this helps:-
The music files, were they bought from your iTunes account or did someone gift them to you after buying from the iTunes account? If they are yours you can download them again if you clear or de-authorise the ipod, it has to be done by whoever gave you the ipod to do this (the registered  owner). If they were bought for you on another itunes account I don't think Apple let you use them as they are copyrighted and they don't belong to you, they belong to the person who bought them. If the music files where ripped from music cd's then click and drag them to a new folder on your desktop and have the person who gave you the ipod to de-authorise and unregister it. Then you re register it and put your files back from your desktop folder in your iTunes folder and synch. Hopefully that would work.  Any files which you did not buy, I would not know how get around this, best bet is to take it to you nearest Apple  Store and explain that they were gifted to you and ask how you can use them.  The best way to gift music files is to buy the gift tokens and give these. Hope above helps.

  • Buying An iPod shuffle in the UAE

    I've got a few questions:
1)I used to have an iPod shuffle (2^nd^ generation)but it broke down so now I'm looking to buy a new one. So now the 3rd generation is out and I'm wondering - which will be easier to use and will last longer than the 2^nd^ geneartion?
    2) I live in the UAE - has it been released here yet?]
    3) What's the difference between 2^nd^ generation and 3^rd^ generation?
    Thanks,
    Sarah

I did some research and nearly everyone around here had a bad experience with the 3rd generation controls. So now I'm just weighing my options...
    1) I can just buy a 2nd generation one. The only difference between the 2 is that 3rd generation is smaller and is easier to use when running - albeit not so reliable.
    2) Or, I could just wait until Apple comes out with an improved one. But that isn't too likely..
    So what do you think?

However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components

  • I have a 4th generation iPod shuffle which does not show up in windows or iTunes. But my iPhone does any suggestions?

I have a 4th generation iPod shuffle which is not recognised in windows or iTunes when I connect to the computer , yet I have no problem when I connect my iPhone. I have installed the latest iTunes. Can anybody help me?

Thanks! But I actually figured it out! Right after I said something about the driver, I went into device mangager. Sure enough even though it did not show up as a drive letter the device manager said is was installed and working.
So I deleted the device out of device manager. Restarted and plugged it in. Although I go some weird error. It found the IPOD and now Itunes sees it.
I believe that killing the process would have done the same thing as you stated.
Thanks to all for taking the time to answer these issues. It beats the apple store or tech support.

  • Can't the iPod nano 7th gen. VoiceOver function identify which language that is being used? My iPod Shuffle can.

I am very satisfied with my iPod SHUFFLE (last version), especially with the VoiceOver function which is (quite) able to  identify correctly which language is being used in every song: For a Norwegian artist / a song in Norwegian, the artist and title is pronounced in Norwegian; for a French artist / a song in French, the artist and title is pronounced in French; for an English artist / a song in English, the artist and title is pronounced in English etc. A really impressive and useful function!
I was very surprised and dissatisfied to find that my new iPod nano 7th generation does not seem to work this way: I am able to select the language to be used in VoiceOver, but then this language is used in everything that is pronounced. Most of my music is in English language, so this is what I have selected. But to hear Norwegian artists' names and Norwegian titles pronounced with an English-speaking voice is quite disturbing.
I believe I have been through all possible settings in the nano and in iTunes to correct this, but I am unable to find a solution. I have also asked people at an Apple store, but they were unable to help. Can anybody help? Or is it really possible that this excellent function has been removed?
(Could it be that the previous version of iTunes could fix the problem? I have installed the last one, v. 11.0.1.12.)
