Which is a better option url iview or bsp iview?

Hi all,
We have so set of BSP applications to be integrated in the portal. Our requirement is that the BSP application has to be stateless. Could any one suggest us which one would be the best option (BSP iview or URL iview) along with the pros and cons.

Hi!
BSPs should always be integrated into the portal as BSP iViews. Whether a BSP application is stateful or stateless is never decided by the portal but by the BSP application. If you want to avoid that the portal takes over the session management then do not use the parameter sap-syscmd=nocookie whithin the definition of the BSP iView.

The CSM does not run HSRP.
So your only option is FT failover.

Hey, I'm looking at getting a new mac but I'm not sure what's the better option. My choice right now is between the base 21.5 inch iMac or the Mac mini ( $799 model), and my main use for it would be recording instruments, music production, and movies / netflix. The 21.5 inch Mac would only give me 8gb of ram, whereas the Mac mini I'd instantly be able to upgrade to 16gb. Another bonus to the mac mini is that I can hook it up to whatever screen I want including my TV for movies.Also, the firewire on the mac mini would be extremely useful as some of the higher quality recording interfaces use firewire. And from what I understand I can also add a SSD to the mac mini? For these reasons I'm leaning towards the Mac mini but I've been recommended by representatives at apple to get the iMac as it's more powerful supposedly, so I'm not sure which one would be better. I know the iMac has a dedicated graphics card vs the integrated hd 4000 on the Mac mini, but I'm not exactly sure how that affects me for what I plan on using the computer for. I'd have to buy a monitor and mouse + keyboard for the mac mini, so it ends up costing me the same as the base model iMac. Any suggestions/ opinions would be appreciated, thanks.

I would recommend getting the 16GB iMac. If money is an issue then consider using Apples refurbished store, there is no downside to buying from it as they sell current machine, the products have the same warranty as a new machine, and are eligible for AppleCare.

Creating default Row which one is better option

for creating dummy row in ViewObject which one is better and appropriate option..
1) CreateInsert as default activity
2) Creating row in Create method of ViewObjectImpl

Kiran,
CreateInsert is an action that is exposed via a data control. If you invoke this action, it will call the Create method of your View Object, so your question really doesn't make sense. If you need to have a row created and inserted into the row set of a VO, then using the CreateInsert action in a task flow will work just fine.

Which is a better option : VO on DB View or a VO with two EOs

I have 2 tables:
ITEMS_BASE and ITEMS_TL ( contains all translatable column of base table: ITEM_BASE).
What is better option for me:
1. TO create a DB View on top of ITEMS_BASE & ITEMS_TL and then create my VO on the DB View OR
2. Create 2 EOs on ITEMS_BASE and ITEMS_TL and create my VO on these 2 EOs.
Please also explain reason behind selection of your choice.

I want to display a rule message in the language as per users local. Only rule name & rule description is a translatable column so i have kept it into separate table.
Table design:
Table name : RULE_B
Columns : PlantCd, ModuleCd, IsRuleApplicable, Value
Example data : 101, safety, Y, 5
Table name : RULE_T
Columns : PlantCd, ModuleCd, RuleName, RuleDesc, Lang
Example data : 101, safety, 'Minimum Observation required', 'Total number of observation required per site', 'EN'
101, safety, 'garbage input', 'garbage input', 'gr'
So i have 2 choices here. either I should create 2 EOs on RULE_B and RULE_T and make my VO on these 2 EOs Or
create an updatable DB View comprising RULE_B and RULE_T and create my VO on the DB View.

Update on question for parameters in URL opening a BSP iview

I wanted to do an update on this thread: How do you create a URL with parameters for a BSP iview? but choose to do the update as this new question instead.
Well, in order to open a BSP iview from an external page shown in an Application Integrator iview in our portal AND FILL IN A FIELD, a link of this type is used on the external page:

If you read the other thread you will see that I couldn't use a link of the following type since it opened up something like the stuff found under "System Administration > Support > SAP Application" and there asked for BSP application and start page!

But the first link works so far as it opens up the correct transaction BUT the parameter won't get into the field. Does anyone know how to "format" the parameter correctly? When you open an iview of Transactional type you can use a URL like this (and it works also with writing parameter into a field):

It's the part ...&SAP_Dynp_Params=... that is of interest here. Should it also be used when working with URLs opening BSP iviews or not? Or should something similar be used instead? The name of the field "mnr" is correct in the BSP URL, at least I think so, I found it in the Web Application Builder under tab "Page Attributes". I have tried both "=" and "%3D" in the URL but neither works.
Any suggestions about the parameter format for this link or another completely different but working URL format would be extremely appreciated!

the Appintegrator Documentation says you can use something like <User.[AttributeName]>, so <User.email> and <User.company> (not sure about capital letters) should work.

BW iView to BSP iView (PCUI ) navigation

Would it be possible to launch BSP iView (PCUI application ) from BW iView?
Would it be possible to configure Object Links for this scenario?
I would like to launch BW iView inside Portal for ex: My Teams Opportunities , once the list of opportunities are displayed and user clicks on any opportunity ,then selected opportunity should be opened in Opportunity BSP iView i.e Opportunity PCUI application.
I am hoping that it can be achieved using Object Links .

Hi.
You can start a PCUI application from anywhere ! the only thing you need is the url. Is also possible to pass parameter like the current order, bp, so on..
In your case you can display your BW report in an iView in the portal, if this is not standard the you will need to modify it in order to manage the click event that will open a new windows calling the PCUI application and passing the parameter crm_object_id with the current Opportunity. If the BW report is standard this can be handle by the portal using Portal context.

The URL that you get on previewing your Transaction iView is the one that needs to be used in your BSP as:

Te get the url correctly,open the Transaction iView,in the properties look for the property PCD Location
It will be something like
portal_content/com.hcl.FLD001/SiddharthaID/iViewsID/Misc/epcmID_0
Now in place of the '/' replace !2f .
portal_content!2fcom.hcl.FLD001!2fSiddharthaID!2fiViewsID!2fMisc!2fepcmID_0
Now the complete URL would be
http://sgssmcepdv:52000/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/pcd!3aportal_content!2fcom.hcl.FLD001!2fSiddharthaID!2fiViewsID!2fMisc!2fepcmID_0
Ok.
Then test the BSP Iview.

Which is a better option to write to an Excel file?

Back from the crypt...
I googled for APIs to write to an Excel file and I stumbled upon JExcelAPI and Jakarta POI. I am not sure which one to use; both are equally confusing.
Could anyone tell me which I should opt for? I just want your opinion so that I can start reading the documentation straightaway. Reading docs for both would be rather a waste of time IMO.
I am open to more suggestions.

Great to find that someone makes use of Google!
Personally, I find Jakarta POI better. It has a really HorribleSpreadSheetFormat called HSSF, which I find pretty good. And there's a quick guide to write simple code for starting off.
BTW, I never tried JExcelAPI.

How to change the port in the URL of a BSP Iview

we have several appraisal templates released in our R/3 system and we can access them by the portal.
We are changing our systems and we are implementing a load balanced in order to improve the connections with the portal. So we need to know how can we change the port of the server that appears in the URL when we go to MSS ->teamviewer and select one appraisal to see the information of the template.
We need to change it and indicate the port of the load balanced http://emsapl404pre.endesa.es:8000/sap/bc/bsp/sap/hap_document...) not the port of one of the WAS server as we have now http://emsapl404pre.endesa.es:8302/sap/bc/bsp/sap/hap_document...)

Hi,
Just view any BSP Application in SE80 and the click on Utilities(M)->Settings.
This will fgive you option to change URL and port number of the URL..
It will be under the Business server Pages tab in the settings window.

Thanks for the document, eventhough its mostly talks about how to integrate BI documents , my requirement is to integrate already available BSP iview into VC but in the document its says that by using html iview i can give the URL of the BSP iview in the connector and get the BSP iveiw displayed.
am i right if yes then my second doubt is.
For example in my bi report i have columns like activity no and customer name can i pass the activity no to the BSP iview and look the details for this particular activity no.

IAC view and BSP iviews gives pop up for user id and password

Hello All,
I am facing a problem in quality portal.
we have SSO configuration between Portal and ECC system and the Jco connection using SSO with login tickets are working fine,test and ping both are succesfull.
The ESS and MSS webdynpro application are also working fine.
But the IAC iviews and BSP iviews says "session managment will not work ! Please check the DMS log files for details" and then ask for user id and password of the ECC system,But the system alias that i am using,is configured for SSO with logon tickets.
same iviews are working fine in devlopment system with system alias with SSO Login tickets but in qa it is asking for id and password ...
I have checked all the system properties also FQDN of ECC system is also maintained.
Please suggest what could be the issue ??

When messages about Session management popup then it is 99% an FQDN issue, but you say you already checked it.
Did you also checked the parameters:
- ITS Host Name
- Web AS Host Name
... in your system object?
