Guys I'm a huge fan of blackberry devices and I decided to buy one. This will be my first blackberry device. I'm greatly concerned about the battery life and performance. In these aspects which phone is better? Z10 or Z3? I'm from India and both these phones are available almost at same price. Which one should I buy?

Z10 all the way. The z10 has a 10 hour battery life, and is 4g LTE capable. the Z3 is much lower end than the Z10, and has a slightly shorter battery life. If they are are about the same price, get the z10 for sure!

RH for Word or for HTML-Which is better choice?

Hi,
My company has an HPJ project created using RH for Word X4.
The hard drive crashed that had X4 on it and Adobe won't
reserialize our X4, so we're forced into making fast decisions,
first whether to stay with RH, and second whether we'd be best off
to import our project into RH for Word vs HTMLHelp. I've done
enough amateur website development to feel comfortable switching to
HTMLHelp, but future inheritors of the documentation role may be
more comfortable with Word as the editing environment. My question
to you is whether there's strategic advantage to switching to
HTMLHelp, perhaps due to decreased complexity or to increased
future HAT tool purchasing options due to greater project
portability, or ...? I'm starting a trial of RH7 today, so am
trying to decide now into which authoring environment I should
import our project.

Interesting question.
I am certainly one of those who would go the HTML route as
the HTML code created there is much cleaner and less prone to
issues than HTML created by Word. Also you can get at the HTML and
do things in the help that are not possible when working with Word.
However, you have hit the nail on the head when you mention future
authors in your company. Increasingly I believe that being able to
work with an HTML tool, which is not the same as needing to have a
good understanding of HTML, will become a basic expectation of
anyone seeking a technical authoring role, if it is not already.
But there are many organisations where the job is part time and
knowledge of Word is all that can be expected. Personally I would
go the HTML route and force the issue. It should not take too much
to get someone else to the point where they can follow on.
When I first created help I used RH HTML I started by using
Word as the editor. I hit some problems and was persuaded to use
the HTML editor. I got help along the way and now I would not
consider anything else. If I can do it, anyone can.

One thing you don't have is a wide aperture lens. With the savings plus just a bit more you should treat yourself to a 50mm f/1.4, or for just $100 get a 50 f/1.8. They do almost magical things wide open and close to a subject. Subject is isolated, background is blurred bokeh, background lights are big round disks. Plus they are great in low light. Too fun.

HDMI is thje preferred digital replacemnt for older analog video standards, which your other choices use. It offers far higher signal and definition quality.
Apple has an adapter that is used with your Thunderbolt port/ Mini DisplayPort, if yours is equipped as such.

What would be a better choice between a MacBook Pro and a MacBook Air?

I will be starting college next fall as a neuroscience major and I am torn between purchasing a MacBook Pro vs. a MacBook Air. Which would be a better choice considering I would be using it to take notes, creating documents, presentations etc.? I am not a person involved in heavy gaming, or major creative things. Just simple stuff but I do however spend countless hours doing research. Help!

Personally the Airs have no appeal for me. Limited hard drive space (actuall no hard drive, it is all flash storage space) which can not be upgraded.
Airs are to small unless you get the 13" model and for that money you can get a nice 13" MBP or even a 15" model.
For me an Air would be a second or third computer but not my only computer.

well,
there's no better choice.
the technology you should choose depends on many things.
for example, you allready have your application up and running. if you upgrade some part of it to JSF you will probably not be able to deploy/sell your app because JSF might still be in beta.
you should make a list of criteria for your self and try to give points for each criteria in both technologies, sum it up and you will have your answer.

Word processing for iOS is fantastic, but not as good for citations and things as on the macbook air, though footnotes will be preserved.
The new textbook options on ipad are compelling. You should find out if any of your school textbooks are on there by searching the itunes store. If so, ipad is your choice.
They are different categories of products. the macbook air is an excellent computer.
But I guess I feel this way -- why don't you buy a desktop for the home. and an ipad for school? If you feel you can get all of your notetaking, paper drafts etc. done on ipad, then you can use mountain lion (coming out this summer) to keep it all in sync when you go home.
I do have to warn you that I tried taking my ipad to work. If you use google docs at all, you may find some limitations sometimes. If you stick within the icloud universe, (pages, keynote, and numbers), you may be mostly happy.

Backup is backup. Doesn't matter how you do it, but that you do it.
Given the choice you posited I would choose the Time Capsule if you want to use Time Machine. If you wish to use third-party backup software then you can only use the WD. It comes with its own proprietary backup software. Or you can go another direction and avoid cloud/network backup which is very slow.
Basic Backup
For some people Time Machine will be more than adequate. Time Machine is part of OS X. There are two components:
1. A Time Machine preferences panel as part of System Preferences;
2. A Time Machine application located in the Applications folder. It is
     used to manage backups and to restore backups. Time Machine
     requires a backup drive that is at least twice the capacity of the
     drive being backed up.
3. Time Machine requires a backup drive that is at least double the
     capacity of the drive(s) it backs up.
Alternatively, get an external drive at least equal in size to the internal hard drive and make (and maintain) a bootable clone/backup. You can make a bootable clone using the Restore option of Disk Utility. You can also make and maintain clones with good backup software. My personal recommendations are (order is not significant):

The HP Envy looks great but I don't know much about AMD Quad Core.....

It seems to run most games quite well, but I need it to be able to play new games for at least 4 years more (college), while not factoring in the costs for any possible graphics card upgrade....

I wasn't aware that there was a heat problem with the i7 processors, my dv8 runs at around 42 to 52 degrees, mind you I don't really put it under much load. I use it to play Blu-ray ISO files on my projector and for photo editing (Adobe CS4), it's an 820QM.
I have also changed the thermal compound to ICDiamond and drilled holes in the speaker cover to improve air flow, that made a difference too.

Don't take my comment to seriously, although I think it has some truth to it, it was meant to poke a bit of fun at you.
Heat has always been one of the biggest factors when it comes to any computer, designers try to make them thinner, lighter and cheaper and those types don't work for gaming very well. They're OK for the occasional one, but not on a regular basis. I believe that if you game on any machine that was not meant for it, you will not get 4 years out of it _ 2 years.
I wish I could tell you different, but I am not going to lie to you.
Heat basically affects 3 things on a laptop, the solder that holds the components on the motherboard, any mechanical moving parts, eg the hard drive, fan _ and the battery. You can remove the battery to prolong its life when gaming.
Heat breaks down the solder over time and the mother board simply stops working as far as the hard drive, it stops spinning because the tiny bearing(s) in there dry out and seize up.
If you don't want to use a cooling mat then prop up the back of the laptop, hanging it over the edge of the table will expose the fan intake, but will block off other vents.
60 degrees is a bit warm too, 50 is better or rather, the cooler the better. What ever machine you get, make a note of what the temps are when you first boot up and when it's hot. The idea is to get an average so you can judge when it is dangerously getting hot.

I'm trying to build an app on Google's cloud service.
Looking into this ( [http://code.google.com/appengine/docs/java/overview.html|http://code.google.com/appengine/docs/java/overview.html]), it tells me that for java projects there are 2 possibilities for persistance - JDO , and Java Persistance. Does anyone have any advice on which is better and/or easier? Also, if anyone has a small example they could post, that would be very useful too.
this isn't exactly a JDBC question, and maybe this should be posted somewhere else? If so please tell me where I should be asking this question.

I personally find Java Persistence to be easy to use and it works just fine.
I can't say if you would agree. You'll just have to judge that for yourself, which means: put some effort into trying it out. I'd start by not requesting small examples in a forum, but by actually looking for them yourself using your search engine of choice.

RAID Options-Which is better?

I'm about to place a hefty order with OWC for my new Mac Pro before it arrives. I use Aperture and keep the library on a different drive than my boot drive. I would like to set up a RAID 0 for maximum speed. I'm going to order 2 500GB Western Digital RE SATA RAID Edition drives (have had good luck with WD). I know that a software RAID isn't as good as a hardware RAID. Which do you think would be the better choice below. I will be backing up the Media drive regardless.
1. Add two of the above drives internally and use Disk Utility to create a 1 TB RAID 0
2. Use this enclosure:

which allows spanning w/ two different drives (may come in handy someday), striping as a RAID 0, or spanning in sequence. The other options besides RAID may be just a bonus later. Speed is my concern.
The enclosure has a jumper that sets the configuration. I realize this isn't as good as a RAID card or an eSATA enclosure, but price is becoming an object. I guess I'm asking if this is hardware RAID on the cheap and better than a software RAID.
If #2 is faster and/or more reliable, I'd back up to a large internal drive. Thank you for any advice.

Jump drive vs. disk image for secure data, which is better?

I want to store all my financial files somewhere securely....encrypted and password protected. It seems my choices are either a jump drive or disk image. If I use the disk image on my Pro, I'll have to be able to back it up to an external drive for storage at another location. Is one method better than the other?

Well, I personally would go with a hardware encryption method over a software method. I have encrypted USB memory sticks, and they are not cheap, but they work seemlessly between my Mac and my Windows computers. I have used hardware encrypted external hard drives, and they have worked just as easily for me. The beauty there is that you don't need to install any software on a computer to use them. The drawback is that when they fail, you have much less hope of recovering your data, but since this is critical information, you are keeping it backed up somewhere (securely), so that is less of a concern.
There are plenty of good software choices as well, some of which are even free.
Back to your original question, flash memory or spinning disk? Both have a limited lifetime, and both will fail. Each time you write to flash memory you shorten its life a very little bit, so if this is information that will be updated quite often, a spinning disk might be a better choice. Also, capacity for your dollar will be lower cost for a spinning disk. I believe that Google has some interesting stats on spinning disk life spans, and considering the amount of data they have to deal with, they would be a good source for they type of statistic...

I can't say which is better, but if you read these forums you will notice a lot of people are having problems with their amps blowing, myself included. My 50D's(which are a slightly older version then the 550's) were great untill the amp blew, leaving me wishing that I had tried a different brand. The choice is yours. Good luck.
