Which is better white ipad or black ipad?
I want to get the new ipad and I have gone to the store and seen both the black and the white one. But sometimes there are limits to what you can do. I want to know how they compare.
Of course I know color is my preference. But from someone who has used either. Which is better for viewing movies and photos? I would assume black, but then I have read a few that said the white makes everything pop and look better. They advertised the white more, but then in some ads show the iphoto on the black one ?

PDF shows background color as white. Prints black. HELP!
I'm trying to print the screen the way I see it which is a white background with black font and an image, but it won't.
I went under preferences and accesibility and replaced document colors to black text and white background.
However, it still prints in it's Image with black background format.

There's just one problem. I can only save the file as PDF, when instead I'd like to save it as .jpg or .png, but I guess I could work around this and batch autoconvert all of those PDF spreadsheets into JPG or PNG format with Photoshop after I'm done making all of the spreadsheets.

My Iphone5 turned black today while in school. I thought it was dead, so i charged it for 20 minutes but it didnt work. Ive tried turning it on. That dosent do anything either. Please Help
Like any other computer, the iPhone can sometimes have a weird glitch or hiccup. It's part of technology. As long as the reset gets you back up and running, then you're good to go.

I have an iphone 5s, does not boot, blinking white screen with black logo, when trying itunes restore from mac and pc, error code 4013 which is usb error, any ideas? Does a totally dead battery have that effect? I have had it plugged in to a computer overnight, but maybe does not charge when totally dead?

Word processing for iOS is fantastic, but not as good for citations and things as on the macbook air, though footnotes will be preserved.
The new textbook options on ipad are compelling. You should find out if any of your school textbooks are on there by searching the itunes store. If so, ipad is your choice.
They are different categories of products. the macbook air is an excellent computer.
But I guess I feel this way -- why don't you buy a desktop for the home. and an ipad for school? If you feel you can get all of your notetaking, paper drafts etc. done on ipad, then you can use mountain lion (coming out this summer) to keep it all in sync when you go home.
I do have to warn you that I tried taking my ipad to work. If you use google docs at all, you may find some limitations sometimes. If you stick within the icloud universe, (pages, keynote, and numbers), you may be mostly happy. -

Or is it just a figment of my imagination??To be fair if you download an applet all the class files are stored in your .jpi_cache, and depending on how that game requests its graphics sometimes they are stored there to, so really if you have to download an applet game twice, blame the programmer (I've probably got that dead wrong :B ).
But, what's wrong with Jars. They offer so much more.
No offence meant by this Malohkan but if you can't organize your downloaded files the internet must really be a landmine for you :)
Personally I'd be happy if I never seen another applet again, it seems java is tied to this legacy, and to the average computer user it seems that is all java is capable of.
Admitidly there are some very funky applets out here using lots of way over my head funky pixel tricks, but they would look so much better running full screen and offline. -

If you have used Windows for years and Microsoft Office, then Word will work much better because you will learn to use it quicker than Pages. However, Pages is much cheaper than Microsoft Word, and if you don't mind learning a new interface, then Pages should be enough.
I use Pages for school projects, and there's one thing that makes a difference: create equations. Pages requires a third-party application like MathType and Word has got a built-in editor, so you should consider this -
Which is better with a NAS: using Sharing or Library location?
So I've got my brand new NAS up and running (Netgear ReadyNAS 104).
It has a Music folder with an iTunes server so I can use it as a Shared Library.
But I can also point my iTunes to the NAS and use the library directly from the NAS.
So which is better? Using the NAS as a Shared Library or use the NAS as the primary Library?
I want multiple devices (primarily Apple devices, but perhaps also a Windows laptop) to be able to use the media.
What about library management? Like when ripping an audio CD. When I use the NAS as a shared library, do I need to manually copy the CD to the NAS iTunes share and have iTunes re-scan?Well... I downloaded LibreOffice and Writer2ePub and openned my Atlantis doc in it and converted to epub file. The good news is it didn't cost a dime.
The bad news is one image is now tiny which is odd because it was 600 dpi so I would think it could be displayed larger, not smaller but maybe the epub conversion downsizes a higher res image (some are 300dpi).
The cover image shows up in iBook as a wide and short image. The cover itself is tiny and then it just fills in black for the rest of the screen width. I used a large, high res image.
Then there was something with the TOC. It created a good TOC but then there's another page with a none hypertext version and a big rectangle error message and the TOC only shows about half of the chapters.
There was some advice on the internet about centering images in iBook. It seems that iBook doesn't recognize text justification coded in a document. So you have to embed another element on the same line as the image (html stuff) and give it a center alignment tag. I haven't done any html ebook stuff so I may not be explaining that the best way possible.
So, I'm going to take another look at my iBook Author version and see if I can live with that. If not I'll probably try Pages although I don't know what other problems I'll run into. Fun, fun, fun -
How to design a "white" background in "black and white" ad on pink newsprint?
Long-time Indesigner here, but I have never had this dilemma before. Am designing a "black and white" newpaper ad for a major paper that has a pink section, i.e. it prints on pink newsprint. So I know this is black ink only, hence the "black and white"...but when the "white of regular newsprint is pink, I am getting stumped. I see in their rate card ads with a white background and black ink on top of the pink newsprint, which is what I want to do. The ad has facial tones of a major recording artist, and I do not want the highlights of her face going pink. So how to I ad a "white" layer underneath this ad? Deadline is now, so please reply ASAP. I have inquiries into the paper but it is the weekend and nobody is getting back to me.
Have they got a rate card: Check it! It may list a "white knockout advert" rate. I think:
that to overprint adverts onto pink is limiting i think its a separation (unless they only want/cater for 1 colour (black) ads) unlike yellow pages where the the standard directory colours are blue, green, red and black (err... obv because of the yellow paper...) yellow pages also offer white knockout adverts (then yellow available) and CMYK adverts.
So: you got to make sure that the advert is designed per spec: as you may know designing for newsprint is a lot more technical than gloss mags/sheet fed etc. You can always see in a newspaper who (designer) got it wrong.
All the info should be on the rate card: just check the CI too: as white knockout may be a lot more expensive.

Setting a White Point and Black Point
I would like to suggest for future versions of lIghtroom to have an ability to set the white point and black points similar to levels and curves in Photoshop. This would be in addition to setting middle grey in the white balance settings currently in Lightroom. I find that the method of using Threshold to find the closest white and black pixels and then using these points to set the black and white points in curves or levels provides a better way to fix a color cast than the methods available in Lightroom.

There is no real need for Black and White point eyedropper type tools in Lightroom. By holding down the Alt key while changing the Blacks or Exposure sliders the display will show the areas that are being clipped. This is much faster than looking around for the darkest and lightest areas manually. If you just like to click to taste (like using the White balance dropper) then forget the Alt key and just move the sliders until you get the desired look.
Remember that the problem with Photoshop is that there are so many ways to do the same thing that it has become difficult and bloated. Lightroom strives to keep the interface as clear as possible. -

I find both their examples -- the hard white on hard black
'villain' and hard
black on hard white 'hero' decidedly hard on the eyes. In
both cases a lower
contrast range would help.
(As I write this, I realise that the whole subject is
extremely subjective, and
depends on all sorts of factors. For example the screen I am
currently using
has black text on a white background, but the text is only
one pixel wide, and
this seems quite acceptable, whereas heavier text would be
less acceptable.)
This is a question I am wrestling with the moment. For
example, in a photo
album (eg:

I have spoken to, prefer a dark background, as it seems to
show the photos off
better.
On the other hand for general information (eg:

The problem comes when you start mixing information pages and
photos on the same
web site. I think I will probably split the site into two
general sections, and
colour them accordingly, but it is a visual shock when you
switch from one
colour scheme to the other.
I would be interested to hear your opinions on this. If you
would like to
experiment, on the Corybas web site you can use 'Custom
options' from the main
album index to switch between four alternative colour
schemes.
