Which is the BEST/most practical RAM to buy?

Bought my PB last Nov of 2004 without any upgrades here in Japan. Since, I am getting tired of the COLOR WHEEL thing everytime I am just running few simple application - I am really thinking of upgrading my RAM to its fullest. However, since I am in Japan - I do not know where to go and get one aside from Apple which is really a rip off:
Any help with the ff will be appreciated:
1. Best/cheapest RAM Brand and where to buy
2. Any tips on buying and installing
3. Japan sites which sell RAM ( as ordering from US would cost a lot)
At present, I am only using my PB for usual applications; Not really into programming. But the WHEELS are really getting tiring.
I do not have apple care. Does anyone know if I can still avail one?

There is very little difference between external USB card readers except in their ability to read very high-capacity cards. If you buy one that says it can read SDXC cards, you should have no trouble with any lower-capacity card. Many readers are generic, and are sold under various brand names.
There are SD readers that fit into your computer's Expresscard 34 slot, but they are much more expensive than USB readers.

I recommend the 15-inch MacBook Pro if you can afford it. That's because Photoshop runs better on a dedicated graphic card, which only the 15-inch MacBook Pro includes, but it should run without any problem on a 13-inch MacBook Pro too

Sorry, but in your case, a new graphics card won't make a blind bit of difference here. The clips become hazy/blurred (or blocky) because they are low resolution video files, which will naturally look awful when blown up to your full-screen resolution.

Because of schoolwork and extracurricular activities, I am constantly sending and receiving e-mails and messages to and from PCs and other Apple devices, like IPads. Two years ago I purchased a 120,12GB MacBook Air and, until a few months ago, it went perfectly well.
I am not sure what happened, but lately, every time I go online, whatever I click -whether it is a random letter in a website, or a blank space in a page, anything- an advert appears or a new -unwanted- tab opens with publicity and such, the kind of additional tabs that open when you are watching movies online in a random website, but this time, it is happening with every website (even the Apple site) and almost constantly. I suspect it is something I downloaded or maybe something I received from an infected PC that I got a virus or problem from.
I tried using the MacKeeper software, but it is not working for me (?). Also I tried blocking pop-ups (I use Google Chrome), Java Script, automatic downloads, complements and everything I could when going online, but it has not gotten better over the last 9 months. My parents also recommended me a very good technician, who I personally know and has solved many of my previous problems, but he could not help me, in this situation.
For that reason, I have been considering either purchasing a good antivirus for my Mac or a new Mac and an antivirus for it, to prevent future problems like this one.

Traffic shaping: Which is the best solution?

Hi! I'm running 3 computers on 1 d-link router, 2 of them has an archlinux installed. Wondershaper mostly works for me when the other computers has cfosspeed running on windows, but when both computers run archlinux and wshaper and p2p applications, ping is over 1000ms instead of 10-20ms.
Which is the best solution of traffic shaping on linux, and is there a howto for them (can be even a gentoo wiki page or similar)?
Edit: shorewall is not being built from yaourt (x86_64), can't find a usable manual for trickle and niceshaper, (even ubuntu forums has unreplied "threads" about it) and can't start them coz missing config files, it seems, noone cares about ACK priority and ping in the Linux world

This config file is being used on 2 computers, and not working, my speed is 8m/1m. Any ideas? I don't want to limit anything, I just want ACK's priority to set to the highest, and same with http, and get p2p apps (opn this computer ktorrent and valknut, on the other ktorrent) priority on lowest. valknut's port is 1412, ktorrents' one is 6881 on this and 24748 on the other computer. I know the Proguard product, as well as several other
obfuscation tools. I know obfuscated stacktraces can
be reversed (as long as you go through the extra
trouble of maintaining the obfuscation mappings for
each version of the software you release). That was
not my point.
I work for (and am part owner of) a small software
development company. We have invested 9 years into
writing enterprise-quality software that is provided
to customers all over the world. We used to think we
needed to obfuscate our software too. However, we
have found that the source code is by far the
least important aspect of what we do as far as
most of the outside world is concerned. Which

earlier this year. That's right: all of our code is
(or soon will be) freely available to anyone,
anywhere.
We have learned over the years that the most
important aspect of our work is not the code, but the

obfuscated without defeating the entire purpose of
the software. This means others are able to learn
about the idea just by seeing the software in action.

As the title says, which are the best settings for exporting comps from AE to Pr.Pro and then edit them?
Let me explain: I have two comps in AE (intro and outro) and want to export them in Pr.Pro for edditing along with a fottage i shot.
When i render them the size of the files are huge (30 sec= 7GB).
Which is the best method (and settings) i can export the intro and outro to a 'normal' file size and then put them in Pr.Pro without loosing any quality??

If you're rendering and exporting an intermediate video file to go from After Effects to any other piece of post-production software (such as Premiere Pro), you want to make sure that you're not losing any quality.
Most compression methods, which make movies smaller, also lose some of the image data---i.e., quality. There are a few compression methods that don't lose any image data; these are "lossless" codecs. These lossless codecs do decrease the size of a video file, but they're nowhere near as effective at decreasing size as the lossy codecs are. But file size isn't important when you're doing post-production work. Big files are a fact of life in post-production.
Examples of lossless codecs include the PNG codec and the Animation codec at the highest quality settings, both of which can be used in a QuickTime (.mov) container. I prefer the PNG codec; it's more efficient for photorealistic images, whereas Animation is more efficient for things like cartoons. There are lots of other lossless and nearly lossless codecs. A lot of people that do video editing like the Lagarith codec, but that is something that you'd have to go and get; it's not part of a standard CS5 or QuickTime installation.

By the way, keep in mind that you don't always need to render and export an intermediate movie to go from After Effects to Premiere Pro. There are other ways to move data back and forth between these applications, including Dynamic Link. Which is best depends on the specific circumstance. Repartition and format the drive for a Mac:
Drive Preparation
1. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Security button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.

unfortunately discussing the breaking of the encryption that comes with commercial dvd's is prohibited in these forums. however a quick google search will get you to quite a few software providers....
on a personal note, i don't agree with the fact that we can't "legally" transfer dvd's because breaking the encryption is considered illegal, even though the "fair use act" has said that copying dvd's for personal use or for backup purposed is considered legal. it's just the software to do that isn't. i'm not one who would rip a dvd then make multiple copies to make a financial gain. i just want to be able to convert my "old" media into a format that meets my current needs.
