Which is the best way of exporting from FCE HD to DVD?

I've been quite disappointed with the results I've been getting while burning DVD's. I've been exporting some really nice looking DV footage out of FCE HD and into Toast Titanium, where it's then burnt. Everything works well apart from the slightly pixelated result. Although I'm shooting in DV, I thought a good quality, new camera would give better results then I seem to be getting. I've exported the finished footage in Quicktime, and in Dv Stream formats, but both these seem to compress my footage. Can I export uncompressed? How do I do this?, and will Toast Titanium then be able to handle it? Many thanks.

Exporting it uncompressed will make no difference. The material has already been compressed when it was shot. It's sounds like Toast isn't encoding the material very well. I've never heard anyone say it has a great encoder. iDVD5's is supposed to be better, and you can get better results with care using Compressor or Bit Vice.

  • Which is the best way to migrate from aperture to lightroom?

    Hello everybody,
I have been using the Aperture trial for some time and I found it interesting.
Unfortunately in the meanwhile Lion came out and I find it ugly. Although I do not want to discuss about Lion here I plan to move away from Apple as soon as my 2007 iMac stops working, so I moved to applications supported by other OSs (Preview->Acrobat reader, iWorks->MSOffice, Mail->Thunderbird and so on). I am also going to buy Lightroom, that will also work on my new Win7 laptop I had to buy for a new job.
My question is: is there a way to quickly migrate my Aperture library to Lightroom or should I reimport all the original photos into it?
    Thank you for your attention

  • Best way to export from FCE for compression?

    Hi again, folks!
I've read/learned that, when you plan to compress your video, you should ideally export from your editing program in the final resolution (size) that you want the video to be. Apparently this is because editing programs do a better job of sizing the video than do compression programs (such as Sorenson Squeeze, which does its best work doing only compression). What I'm wondering is this: When I export to QuickTime from FCE, I have two options, namely Export as a QuickTime Movie, or Export Using QuickTime Conversion (which allows me to save as a QuickTime or other format). So, my question is, if I Export Using QuickTime Conversion, does this actually "convert" the video to some 'bastardized' version of QuickTime, or does it just reduce the size? I'm asking because I don't understand why, on the one hand, FCE refers to exporting a full size video as simply "Exporting as QuickTime" while on the other hand (eg. when I'm lowering the resolution), it's called "QuickTime Conversion" (which is lumped in with a whole bunch of other output format possibilities such as .avi, mpeg4, etc).
I'm probably not being as clear as I'd like, but more simply put, why does FCE consider going from hi-res QuickTime to low-res QuickTime a 'conversion'?

One suggestion I received (just tonight) from another forum was to export the video from FCE, but not as a self-contained movie; this way (I'm told), the video is not being compressed or otherwise altered, and hence will give me the best results when I compress
The information you received on the other forum was half right and half wrong. The difference between a self-contained movie and a movie that isn't (known as a 'reference' movie) is NOT the quality; it's that the self-contained movie is an exact copy of what's in your Sequence while the reference movie only refers to the original media and renders ... it doesn't copy it. Since reference movies rely on the original media (and render files) for playback or when used in other applications (like Sorenson Squeeze), they will not work properly on any other system nor will they work if any of the original media or render files are moved, deleted or otherwise altered.
The quality of the two types is identical.

  • What is the best way to export a DVCam proyect to DVD Studio Pro?

I always export them as a normal quick time file but you are able to see some digital noise in some shots. What am I doing wrong?

Why,,,oh why I ask? do we export to QT first?
Export your sequence directly to compressor using the highest Mbps you can allow according to the length of your sequence. For example, you can use this formula: 560/minutes of video=bitrate. Let's say you've got a video that is 90 minutes in length---560/90=6.2, so you would compress using a bitrate that averages 6.2 Mbps. What is that you say? your sequence is only 20 min. long? then use the highest bitrate that most DVD players can withstand which is somewhere around 8.0 Mbps, for safety I never go higher than 7.5 Mbps. Use Dolby 2.0 for audio.
    THEN BRING IT INTO DVDSP
    Good luck

  • What could be the best way to Export data from 11.5.8 instance to 12.1.2?

    Hi All
What could be the best way to Export data from 11.5.8 instance to 12.1.2?
    Release: 11.5.8
OS: Oracle Solaris on SPARC (32-bit) verison 9
    DB: 9.2.0.1
    Thanks in advance

What kind of data you are looking to move?
Database export/import is only supported for full database export/import and the application release should be the same on the source/target nodes.
You can move the setup using iSetup or FNDLOAD.
    Thanks,

What is the best way to export a cutterline from photoshop?
Wie exportiere ich am am besten einen Schnittlinie aus Photoshop? Ich bekomme von einem Wort immer nur den ersten Buchstaben exportiert, obwohl alles gerastert auf einer Ebene liegt.
    Thank you! Vielen Dank!

What are you talking about exactly?
If you need to export vector data Photoshop is not the first choice but if you have Type Layers (without faux styles), Vector Masks or Paths it is possible.
    alles gerastert auf einer Ebene
does not seem to make sense in this context though.

  • What is the best way to export the data out of BW into a flat file on the S

    Hi All,
We are BW 7.01 (EHP 1, Service Pack Level 7).
As part of our BW project scope for our current release, we will be developing certain reports in BW, and for certain reports, the existing legacy reporting system based out of MS Access and the old version of Business Objects Release 2 would be used, with the needed data supplied from the BW system.
What is the best way to export the data out of BW into a flat file on the Server on regular intervals using a process chain?
    Thanks in advance,
    - Shashi

    Hello Shashi,
    some comments:
    1) An "open hub license" is required for all processes that extract data from BW to a non-SAP system (including APD). Please check with your SAP Account Executive for details.
    2) The limitation of 16 key fields is only valid when using open hub for extracting to a DB table. There's no such limitation when writing files.
    3) Open hub is the recommended solution since it's the easiest to implement, no programming is required, and you don't have to worry much about scaling with higher data volumes (APD and CRM BAPI are quite different in all of these aspects).
For completeness, here's the most recent documentation which also lists other options:

  • What is the best way to export a .csv/.txt file to a MS Windows shared folder via a scheduled job?

What is the best way to export a .csv/.txt file to a MS Windows shared folder, when the export process is a scheduled job?

You can't directly, as scheduled jobs can only export to server-side data stores, which can only write to the landing area. You'll need to use an external script (e.g. batch file) to move the file from the landingarea after export. You can use an external task in the scheduled job to invoke the script.

  • What is the best way to get from imovie 9.0.9 to idvd

    Hello
I wonder if someone can help.
I have an iMovie project that includes 8 chapter markers.
When I export to idvd, the resulting video quality is horrible.
I have found out from other users posts , that the best way to export is to "media browser".
When I do that, I lose my chapter markers, which I obviously don't want to happen.
Am I doing something wrong, or am I correct in assuming that this type of export will not save the chapter markers??
I found out that you can write chapter markers in idvd, but they can only be written in intervals of minutes, and not at points in the movies where I want to put them. Or am I missing something?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Angus Armstrong

Use the Share ➙ Media Browser menu option with Size = Medium or Large.
Open iDVD, select a theme, go to the Media Browser/Movies pane in iDVD  and drag the movie file into the open iDVD window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
Follow this workflow to help assure the best quality video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

  • What's the best way to export a 1280:720 mov file to high res wmv

Does anyone know the best way to export an HD 1280:720 Quick Time .mov to the highest possible res wmv?

fewer problems. It was a codec issue, I think regarding the latest codec. The solution, and it works for all the apps, was to make the frame divisible by 16 on all sides. It had to do with coding factors. But it worked. Since then, and the introduction of the iPad, we've dropped WMV altogether. We're now relying on Flash and MP4. MP4 is used in most places, particularly promos and marketing content. However, it's not at all easy to protect content from "redistribution" when using HTML5. It has a weakness in which it leaves a data trail that someone can follow back to the original video. Hmmm... so we code in a Flash wrapper, though I think my IT person may be using my MP4s for that. I'll have to check. Anyway, I'm down to mostly MP4 now.

  • Which are the best settings for exporting comps before edditing in Premiere Pro

    Hello everyone!
As the title says, which are the best settings for exporting comps from AE to Pr.Pro and then edit them?
Let  me explain: I have two comps in AE (intro and outro) and want to export  them in Pr.Pro for edditing along with a fottage i shot.
When i render them the size of the files are huge (30 sec= 7GB).
Which  is the best method (and settings) i can export the intro and outro to a 'normal' file  size and then put them in Pr.Pro without loosing any quality??
    [Comp settings: HDTV 1080 29.97 (1920x1080)]
AE and Premiere Pro both CS4

If you're rendering and exporting an intermediate video file to go from After Effects to any other piece of post-production software (such as Premiere Pro), you want to make sure that you're not losing any quality.
Most compression methods, which make movies smaller, also lose some of the image data---i.e., quality. There are a few compression methods that don't lose any image data; these are "lossless" codecs. These lossless codecs do decrease the size of a video file, but they're nowhere near as effective at decreasing size as the lossy codecs are. But file size isn't important when you're doing post-production work. Big files are a fact of life in post-production.
Examples of lossless codecs include the PNG codec and the Animation codec at the highest quality settings, both of which can be used in a QuickTime (.mov) container. I prefer the PNG codec; it's more efficient for photorealistic images, whereas Animation is more efficient for things like cartoons. There are lots of other lossless and nearly lossless codecs. A lot of people that do video editing like the Lagarith codec, but that is something that you'd have to go and get; it's not part of a standard CS5 or QuickTime installation.
See these FAQ entries for information about compression and why file sizes are big for losslessly encoded files:
"FAQ: Why is my output file huge...?"
"FAQ: What is the best format for rendering and exporting from After Effects?"
By the way, keep in mind that you don't always need to render and export an intermediate movie to go from After Effects to Premiere Pro. There are other ways to move data back and forth between these applications, including Dynamic Link. Which is best depends on the specific circumstance. See "Working with Premiere Pro and After Effects".

  • Best way to export from AVCHD to highest quality possible

    Hello,
I just got the Canon HF200, a AVCHD Camcorder and new to Premiere Pro CS4.
Does anyone have the time and is willing to explain what would be the best way to export AVCHD source material after editing ?
I'm interested in the best quality you can get out of AVCHD.
It would be nice to have a list of the settings in Premiere to be customized (i.e. setting up new project, exporting format settings and so on) to have the best quality of the footage exported.
    Thanks in advance
    best regards

Geezus the guy just wants a simple answer.
MASTER FILE / FOR YOUR BLU RAY PLAYER / ARCHIVAL
    1) use the Bluray H.264 preset to get a Bluray master. Best quality, takes a while to encode though.
Unless it's a five hour movie I'm pretty sure it'll fit on a BD disc.
GENERAL RULE OF THUMB FOR ARCHIVAL AND MASTER FILES: try to match the final product with your source file.
If your source is H.264/AVCHD export in that format too (In this case, Bluray H264 preset)
If it's 1080i then export as such
If it's 24Mbps then use that bitrate to export as too. Etc. etc. etc.
Now that's for archiving - getting the best looking Master file. Uploading  your movie to the web is different...
IF YOU'RE GOING TO SHOW YOUR MOVIE ON THE WEB
    1) use that Bluray master (or encode directly from your CS 4 timeline if you have the time) to WMV.
Choose the NTSC setting and then customize it.
640 x 360 or 575 x 324 sizes are good; Make sure to use the SQUARE pixels option since the sizes here are figured for that. Keyframes every 2 seconds, or every 5 seconds if there's not a lot of movement and background business going on. In the 1000 - 1600 kbps range is good (larger dimensions = higher bitrate).
    Audio 96/44 is fine.
Choose 2 Pass Variable Bitrate for best quality/size ratio.
If you're using CS4 it'll automatically deinterlace when you encode to WMV. In other programs you need to check "Deinterlace".
    2) Flash (FLV) is popular too. Same sizes, you can get away with lower bitrates than WMV. Requires special players either on the web or on the users' desktop so only do this if you feature the movie on your site and you know how to make a SWF file with your FLV embedded.
Lost me here? Then just forget Flash for now.
Other Primer Notes (VERY GENERALIZED SPEAKING):
Forget MPEG 1. Bad quality/size ratio compared to WMV.
Use MPEG 2 for archival purposes, but use high bitrates (like 1920 x 1080 @ 24 Mbps or similar. )
Quicktime is good for archiving too but takes a long time to encode on PCs. Not worth it for web delivery anymore... although there will be Mac fanatics disagreeing with me right now.
    Hope this helps
