Which is the correct Camera Raw Plugin

Hi, I have been scouring your website to find the correct camera raw plugin for lightoom and my 50D. I seem to be going around in circles and am beginning to become a bit frustrated. Can you please help me?

The Canon EOS 50D has been supported since Camera Raw 5.1

recently bought a samsung NX30 camera which came with lightroom 5, after several hours of googling i got it setup properly with the correct camera raw to be able to access my raw images. I found my old laptop was very slow when processing the hundreds of images I usually take on a weekly basis. I bought a new faster laptop but when I looked for the cd with the software and serial I could not find it in the Xmas clutter. I downloaded a trial version of lightroom and got it working on my new laptop. Is there a way to access the serial number from my previously installed version and insert it into the trail version to make it work for me?

Mea culpa
While i registered all my cs2 thru 6 versions and my lightroom 2 thru 4 versions and recorded the serials and saved the adobe registration emails. Since this came as a freebee with the camera i neglected this vital step. I have the instslled version on my old laptop but want to install it on my new one. Thanks to Jim Hess I got the serial so all is well in my world and I will register it with ADOBE

Installing the new camera raw plugin for pse6 HELP!!!

Ok, so what am I doing wrong? I've downloaded the new camera raw 4.6 plugin for pse6 and It isn't updating! Can someone help me??? I'm obviously doing something wrong - if you could walk me through the steps I'd greatly appreciate it!

Camera Raw Plugin not working

Photoshope CS4 won't open camera raw files from my new camera (Canon EOS 5D Mark II). I've downloaded what should be the correct camera raw plugin update and installed it (5.2) but Photoshop still won't open the files. Any help out there?? Many many thanks for your time in answering this. Inga

You need to look for and download the Camera Raw 5.7 update and then install it manually following the instructions on the download page very, very carefully.
While the auto update function seems much improved in CS5 and higher, the Adobe Auto Updater in CS4 (and lower) is totally unreliable, almost always broken in one day or another. Still stuck in the dark ages.

Where To Install Camera Raw Plugin

The oddest thing happened to me. I solved it, but I am hoping someone can provide me with an explanation:
1) I downloaded the lastest Camera Raw Plugin for CS3 and followed the installation instructions given at http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=3893.
2) I still could not open my .dng files from bridge because I was still getting the message that I did not have the proper Camera Raw Plugin for CS3.
3) So, I did a search for all of the Camera Raw Plugins on my computer and found one located in Applications/Adobe Photoshop CS3/Plug-Ins.
4) So, I replaced the Camera Raw Plugin I had found in Applications/Adobe Photoshop CS3/Plug-Ins with the new one that I had downloaded from Adobe and previously placed in Library/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-Ins/CS3/File Formats as I had been instructed.
5) It worked, and now I can open my .dng files from Bridge into Photoshop. Why the discrepancy between what I was instructed to do and what actually seems to work?

Note that is your ROOT LEVEL library, NOT your user library.
That is the ONLY correct location for the Camera Raw plug-in. You should have no other such Camera Rawplug-in anywhere else in your setup [for CS3].

I need a camera raw plugin for sony raw files

Hello there, I got a new Sony A99 camera and I need a Camera Raw update for Adobe Bridge CS5. I can see my old Sony files from my A580 but the new once are not showing up. Where can I get an update for my CS5 bridge software?

Which operating system are you using?
Have you tried Help>Updates from within photoshop cs6 to get either camera raw 8.3 or 8.7.1, which should enable photoshop cs6 to open the canon 5D Mark III files.
(version of camera raw depends on your operating system)
If that doesn't work try one of the following camera raw plugin installers:

Lack of support for Camera Raw plugin for Mac 10.6.8

I'm hoping to find some solutions to the road block I've run into.    I'd been using Photoshop CS6 with Mac OS 10.6.8 without any problems.
Then I got a new camera this week, and that's when the problems began.....
I wanted to edit the raw files (R2W format) from the Panasonic GH4, and needed to install the proper Camera Raw plugin.   I installed version 8.6, and not only did Photoshop refuse to acknowledge the installed plugin, but it was no long able to open ANY digital photograph.
I tried installing version 8.5, as well as removing various preference files, repairing permissions, rebuilding volumes (via DIsc Warrior + Drive Geinus) and all sorts of other suggestions I found online.   I was really hoping that a manual drag + drop of the plugin to the Library/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-Ins/CC/File Formats folder would do the trick, but NOTHING seemed to work for me. I spent most of the day on Thursday trying to figure a solution, and wound up going back to my original Camera Raw plugin (version 8.3) just to be able to use Photoshop again.
I would have liked to have used the DNG Converter, but it doesn't work with Mac OS 10.6.8 either.
There's various reasons why I continue to use 10.6.8 as my primary OS - so many of my OTHER favorite softwares were radically changed or eliminated with the so-called "upgrades" and I really hate the way so many things were altered in what should be simple navigation in the Finder. I do have OS 10.8 installed on a backup hard drive, but I really don't want to use this as my primary OS.... at least not at this point in time.
So here's my plea ...
Adobe -
PLEASE give me an updated version of the Camera Raw plugin that I can use with Photoshop CS6 under Mac OS 10.6.8.
PLEASE provide a version of DNG Converter that will also work with that particular set-up.
.... or help me find a solution so I can install these plugins without the massive headaches.

You can hook up the external 10.8 drive, boot into it, run the DNG 8.5 converter there pointing it to your raw files folder, boot back to the 10.6.8 system and you should have DNGs that will open in ACR 8.3

Camera Raw.plugin location on Mac, Photoshop Elements 6

(Regarding Photoshop Elements 6) Adobe's updater cannot find the Camera Raw plugin to update to 4.4.1, so I downloaded it manually. The problem is trying to find the old plugin so I can replace it. If I follow the info in the Read Me for this update, it says to put it in:
~/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-Ins/CS3/File Formats
This folder did not exist, so I created Plug-Ins, CS3 and File Formats. Didn't work.
I went to the Photoshop Elements 6 folder, and there found
Plug-Ins/FileFormats
(no space between "File" and "Formats"). I put the new Camera Raw.plugin there (no old one there), and now Elements, in its "About Plug-In" drop down menu lists TWO Camera Raw plugins, version 4.3.1 and the 4.4.1 I just put there.
Where the heck is the 4.3.1 file so I can get rid of it?? Searching with the Finder and Spotlight only reveals the 4.4.1 file.

Camera Raw location on a Mac:-
Hard Drive/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-Ins/File Format/CS6
or
Hard Drive/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-Ins/File Format/CS5
or
Hard Drive/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-Ins/File Format/Elements
NOT within the User section at all!
and if you update one Camera Raw you can, of course, copy and paste to alternative versions of Adobe products (as if, for example, you have both CS6 & CS5, or Elements)

If so, can the plugin read *.raw files from an Olympus C-8080?

Camera Raw Plugin Missing

I am on Photoshop Extended version 12.1 x 64 on OSX 10.7.2 Lion and when I go into Aboout Plug-Ins, the "Camera Raw..." one is missing from the list. Ontop of that, I am unable to install the Camera Raw installer 6.5. I get the error message "Update Is Not Applicable". How do I fix this? do I just make a folder somwhere in the plug-ins folder? where? how? help!
I'm also unable to edit my camera RAW .CR2 files from my Canon Rebel XS running firmware 1.0.7 (however I know the reason why).
I get the error message "Could not complete your request because Photoshop does not recognize this type of file."

I've also now deleted the plug-ins folder found in my Library > Application Support > Adobe folder. uninstalled and then reinstalled photoshop and still nothing in the way of camera raw support. I do see an option for it in the preferences drop down however it says "Could not complete the Camera Raw command because the Adobe Camera Raw plugin cannot be found."
how can I put the plugin in the right place if the updater won't let me, where can I download just the .plugin file?

I've just reinstalled PS cs4 on a new macbook pro - my camera raw files from a canon 5d mark 2 are not being recognized...
I found out that I need to update the camera raw plugin to version 5.2. I downloaded the plug in and the computer said it successfully installed the plug in

The profiles are installed by double clicking on the downloaded Camera_Raw_5.7 dmg and double clicking on the cameraprofiles.mpkg
Install the camera raw.plugin by going to (Macintosh hard drive)/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-Ins/CS4/File Formats and dragging the existing camera raw plugin to the Trash.
Then drag the new camera raw plugin from the dmg to the same folder.

I don't recall ever going from Lightroom to ACR. However, if it really did that, it was probably because your ACR was current with Lightroom. Now you have Lightroom 4, the raw processing is more advanced. And the ACR you are using cannot read all of the adjustments. So it's better to render a copy of that includes the Lightroom adjustments and send that to Photoshop. Otherwise it will be difficult to get a matching image.

When will the LR5 camera raw plugin for Nikon D4s be available?

There is no camera-raw plug-in for Lightroom. The camera raw engine is built-in.
If you are asking when will a LR be available that has the same camera raw engine as the ACR 8.4 plug-in, so you can use your new D4s with it, then the answer is that us outsiders don’t know and any insiders can’t say due to non-disclosure agreements.
I would guess Adobe put out the plug-in early so reviewers could use it and to solicit user feedback on the camera profiles.
If you want to give feedback then use the DNG Converter 8.4 RC to create DNGs from your NEFs and import those into a test catalog and see if the colors seem ok.
Keep your original raws, though, in case something changes in the processing between the DNGC release candidate and the final version.

How can I downgrade Camera Raw plugin?

I updated to the new Camera Raw plugin, but I would like to downgrade one version. I downloaded the previous version from Adobe Downloads section, and when I try to install it, I get a warning message that says it cannot perform the operation. From what I understand, it probably doesn't want to downgrade... How can I do it manually?

Stupid question, but why would you want to? The main advantage is to add other camera makers to the list.
