  • What is the highest Firefox version that can now be downloaded on to my Mac OSX version 10.5.8?

When I open the "Firefox" window on my computer, and then click on"About Mozilla Firefox," I read "Firefox Version 3.6.23." I assume this is the version operating now on my computer. If it isn't, because of later updates, how can I find out what the version now operating on my computer is? What is the highest compatible version I can download, and how?

It looks like you have a "Power PC" Mac. The last version of Firefox to support PPC Macs is 3.6. You can try [http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox/ TenFourFox]. It's a port of the latest Firefox made for PPC Macs. It's not made by Mozilla but many PPC users are happy with it.

  • What's the best hard drive I can put in my mac book 6,1?

What's the best hard drive I can put in my mac book 6,1? Is there a solid state hard drive available? I've been through two hard drives in the last 3 years, which i primarily blaim on how much I have to move my computer around at work while the drive is spinning.

Yes there is and SSD for your Mac.  I just ordered an SSD for a MacBook 6,1 from OWC.  http://www.macsales.com/
    Also check Crucial and Kingston.
I ordered the DIY Upgrade Bundle: Mercury Electa 3G SSD.
That MacBook is only capable of 3 GB/s so the 6G SSDs are overkill.
I recently upgraded the memory from 2 GB to 8 GB.  It cut the boot time by a factor of three.  That is only a $100 upgrade.

    Hi S. Vishwam.
Many peoples says that BI , APO , BW and HANA are the highest paying modules.
But with the passage of time the value of the professional decreases because many people go work with this modules then ...supply and demand = decreases.
Only the people that really knows continue making lots of moneyand the characteristic of these people are the same:
They always read the SDN community of his modules.
They really study the sap help.
They do not want to make lots of money early on.
    Hope helped you.

The largest capacity HDD that you can install is the HGST 1.5 TB HDD:

Any 2.5" 9.5mm thick SATA HDD will fit and operate in your MBP, regardless of capacity.

I have a mid-2007 MacBook and I wanted to know what the highest OS I could run. I'm currently running 10.6.8, and I plan on getting 10.7 soon. Here are my specs:

    (Upgraded) 2 x 2GB Ram -- 3 GB's usable

Also, I have a Mac Recovery Disk that installs a copy of 10.7 onto macs. Can I use that to upgrade, or do I need to buy it?

  • HowTO: Get only one entry which has the highest value in a specific column?

    Hi there,
ich have the following problem. I want to write logs in a table. One column is the date of the log and some others hold the information.
Now I want to get the last log and I it should be good performance too.
    What would you suggest?
At the moment I think about the max() function. Is it a solution?
Would a view which orders the logs by date (DESC) improve performance? maybe the view could create a collum which numbers the logs beginning by the newest.
something like: ...ROW_NUMBER() OVER(ORDER BY logdate) AS indx ...
    Thx in advance
    Dominik

In my opinion SELECT * FROM MY_LOG WHERE LOG_DATE =
MAX(LOG_DATE) could be expensive (performance)In the first place, it issues an error saying GROUP functions are not allowed here.
    MAX() solution would be better.

  • What's the latest Mac OS I can use with my older G4 Mac?

    Hi Everyone,
My oldest Mac, a G4 running at 350 gHz, still has OS 9.2 and I'd like to upgrade the OS to the best version the Mac can handle. I tried calling the Apple CAre hotline and a kind AppleCare specialist asked for my old Mac's serial number, and said I could install OS 10.4.
Well, a good friend of mine happened to have Mac OS 10.4.7, but it won't install. It starts, but goes into basic and states it's hanging.
Apparently, 10.4 is too advanced or, did I do something wrong?
Where on the Apple website can I find which OS would work best on my older Mac?
    Thanks.

If that computer has never had an OS X newer than OS X 10.1 installed in it,
you probably should check the Firmware (boot ROM) version noted in the
OS 9.2 running system's "System Profiler" to see what the firmware version is.
And then see if the computer needs to have the Firmware Update applied
before attempting to install an OS X version into the computer. It will need to
have a running OS 9.1/9.2 kind of system booting the computer in order to be
able to install a Firmware Update.
Lack of the proper firmware update can compromise the computer's hardware.
    • Available Firmware Updates - Mac OS X:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1395
The installation instructions are should be carefully read & understood.
Also, in older iMacs and other early PPC Macs, you have to be sure the
computer's hard disk drive size capacity is correct, if upgraded to a larger
capacity hard drive; some old models need to have a small (8GB) partition
for the OS installation. Later ones don't require this, but may have a limit
on the total capacity of a drive used in certain older computers.
For general specifications on several different Apple hardware (and OS)
products, you could download a fairly good database of information from:
    • MacTracker:
    http://mactracker.ca
To see about purchasing an OS X 10.4 full install disc (aka retail) you could
check the auction sites or local Mac user groups, craigslist ads, and other
local dives or recycling centers; or try calling the main Apple sales support
number as shown in the Apple web site, 1-800-MY-APPLE and ask to speak
to a product specialist for Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard, if the person you talk to
does not appear to know about the older no longer listed Leopard install discs.
Be prepared to purchase when you call; the phone number is not a retail store.
(You may have to pay significantly more than their asking price for questionable
goods through some auction; and some web resellers of discs sometimes sell
the incorrect discs, in an auction sale, for more than the cost direct from Apple.)
Hopefully you aren't planning on a modern experience in that old a Mac.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Which is the best mac to buy ?

Hey guys and gals, im looking at buying my first mac computer. i'm looking at buying one mainly for photo & video editing. I'm not sure about all the stats and parts that go into a computer i just need one as cheap as possible to get the job done. any help?

I would ask and I would try running similar software, even see if they allow you to bring some of the type files.
I would not trust their opinion though.
For some, an iMac with 32GB RAM (graphics do tend to eat up memory a lot).
A Mac Pro (black cylinder) is hard to ignore and can be upgraded and will last longer.
Cheap it isn't unless you look at cost over lifetime and using it for 6-8 years, then it is.
    Apple Special Mac Pro
If you want cheap why Mac? cost of software needs to be figured in - such as Adobe cross platform or switching to Mac Lightroom.
Others want a laptop for various reasons and to take with them when they do photo shoots.
DO visit this site and look at the recommendations - site author is professional graphics and hardware VAR.
