Which is the preferred Webserver for Apex ?

Hi would like to start a discussion about you prefered Webserver ....
Here are my opinions about this ...
First I used Apache => But mod_plsql licensing is quit difficult and the last Version is only available for Apache 2.2 hmm :-(
Then I used many years TomCat => desupported
I switched to Glassfish => desupported in Nov 2013
Apex Listener Standalone is not supported/recommended for Production use.
and the Winner ist Bea ??? But it´s very expensive. So what are the alternatives ?
Thanks
Marco

Hi Tony, thanks for your fast reply
Nov 4 oracle announced: https://blogs.oracle.com/theaquarium/entry/java_ee_and_glassfish_server
...Oracle GlassFish Server will not be releasing a 4.x commercial version
Nov 6 Kris said: Supported Web Server:
GlassFish Server Release 3 or later
David Peak said 06.07.2010
Tomcat not supported by the Apex Listener?
We did not certify other Web Servers (including Tomcat) as we would not be able to support issues that arise when it is specific to these external Web Servers.
So what´s right ?
Thanks
Marco

The ALV object Grid methods allow the same functionality as ALV grid report function modules but are displayed within
a screen (dialog program). SAP has provided a suit of programs which demonstrate how to For examples see standard SAP
    programs as detailed below:
BCALV_EDIT_01 This report illustrates the simplest case of using an editable/noneditable ALV Grid Control.
BCALV_EDIT_02 This report illustrates how to set chosen cells of an ALV Grid Control editable.
BCALV_EDIT_03 In this example the user may change values of fields SEATSOCC (occupied seats) and/or PLANETYPE.
The report checks the input value(s) semantically and provides protocol messages in case of error

  • Which is the best iOS for iPhone 3G? I am currently on 3.1.3 !

Which is the best iOS for iPhone 3G?
Should i update it to the latest 4.2.1 or let it be on my current firmware 3.1.3?
I have heard that 3G is best on 3.1.3?
    Comment?

If I may, I agree that version 3.1.3 is the best for the iPhone 3G, however, I am currently travelling in Europe and I have a SIM card from a local mobile company. I discovered the hard way that there is an option missing: Settings > General > Network > Cellular Data (on/off). This option is not present in iOS 3.1.3. So basically, you disable 3G but it is impossible to block EDGE, and your phone will automatically revert to it if 3G is not available, and you will occur cellular data fees anyway.
I am sure of what I am saying because with the local service I use, I have unlimited data for $4 per day, but it is debited as soon as I consume one byte of data, then it is free until midnight the same day. Event if I have set Enable 3G = off, Data Roaming = off, for two days in a row, I was still charged the $4 a day because the Cellular Data was not off!
I compared with my wife's iPhone 3GS with iOS 5.1, there is the three options, Enable 3G (on/off), Data Roaming (on/off), Cellular Data (on/off). The option to turn it off simply doesn't exists on iOS 3.1.3!
With some research, I found that it is possible to block it anyway if you change your APN (Access Point Name) to an invalid setting. The easiest way to do this is to connect to the Internet using WiFi, then access this web site with Safari: http://unlockit.co.nz/ (from your iPhone).
This online tool allows you to change your APN, it is very useful when you travel abroad and you use local SIMs. On the first screen press Continue, on the second screen press Custom APN to create an APN for a local mobile company, or press Disable Data (FakeAPN) to disable 3G and Edge for good. When creating a Custom APN, you will be asked to choose a Country and a Provider, then press Create Profile. Then, either way, press Install and "Install Now" or "Replace", then press Done. This will add two things to your phone: first, an app-like icon for quick access to the website http://unlockit.co.nz/, second, a new menu in Settings > General, labelled "Profile", that contains your new APN. Note that it is possible to add several profile information, and some may conflict with each other. Remove those you don't need. Don't remove them if you are not sure!
I hope this works for you!

  • Which is the default consolefont for en_US?

    Hi,
I changed the locale in /etc/rc.conf from en_US to en_US.utf8, but now the consolefont is changed to LatArCyrHeb-16.
I would like to use the default for en_US though, since it seems to be the only font which handles graphics in make menuconfig or mc correct.
Can anyone tell me which is the default consolefont for the framebuffer? I want the default for en_US back
    thanks,
    baze

I left it empty, which loads the default consolefont for locale en_US, but when I use en_US.utf8 LatArCyrHeb-16 is loaded. (with consolefont being empty)

    Dear Sir/Madam,

What is the difference between Oracle performance and Sybase!

Because Sybase is a much smaller "player" in the DB world.
Oracle is the industry leader; and it is usually a wise decision for a software product to store it's data into the "best of brand" technology.

  • Which are the setting values for the Virtual CTI Driver? (Siebel Communica)

    hi everybody,
the application I'm using is Siebel Communications 8.1.
I am learning about integration processes with the Siebel Communications Server Administration Guide. One of the points or topics there is the use of the Virtual CTI to integrate your Siebel Business Applications with Oracle Contact Center Anywhere (as in the bookshelf described).
I've read, with this driver agents can access communications functionality using the communications toolbar.
The Virtual CTI is a driver provided by Oracle. You can't see it listed on the Administration -> Communications ----> Communications Drivers and Profiles. So I guess it is important to add this driver to the list.
    I have questions about that:
    1. Should I add this driver to the list? or when can I do that?
    2. Which are the setting values for the mentioned driver?
    - Communications Channel?
    - Inbound Yes
    - Outbound Yes
    - Interactive
    - Channel string
    - Library name
Could anybody help me? I would appreciate that.
    Regards

    Thanks for the reply KT.
I am not sure how to set a new custom style, but will look it up. If you have a url that points to the topic I would appreciate it.

    Hi,
Yes. You can absolutely access your Gmail account from within either Mail or Microsoft Outlook for Mac. Make sure, that you have enabled POP/IMAP in your Gmail settings, then follow the instructions here: http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=180188 if you wish to access your account via POP3 instead of IMAP, change the incoming mail server to pop.gmail.com

  • Which is the software needed for an installation on a production server

    Hi,
which is the software needed for an installation on a production server (windows 2008) of Forms/Reports 11g ?
I mean the old 10g stand alone forms and report service but un 11g release ..
    Regards

For application deployments (production), you will need the following software. The same is true for a design-time environment.
    1. Weblogic Server 10.3.2
    2. Fusion Middleware 11.1.1.2
See my update in the following:
    Re: Some FORMS quesion...
All products are contained within the Fusion Middleware (Forms, Reports, Portal, Discoverer) distribution. This includes Builders, Runtime components, HTTP Server, Web Cache, etc. During the installation process, you choose which you want to install.

  • Which are the best settings for exporting comps before edditing in Premiere Pro

    Hello everyone!
As the title says, which are the best settings for exporting comps from AE to Pr.Pro and then edit them?
Let  me explain: I have two comps in AE (intro and outro) and want to export  them in Pr.Pro for edditing along with a fottage i shot.
When i render them the size of the files are huge (30 sec= 7GB).
Which  is the best method (and settings) i can export the intro and outro to a 'normal' file  size and then put them in Pr.Pro without loosing any quality??
    [Comp settings: HDTV 1080 29.97 (1920x1080)]
AE and Premiere Pro both CS4

If you're rendering and exporting an intermediate video file to go from After Effects to any other piece of post-production software (such as Premiere Pro), you want to make sure that you're not losing any quality.
Most compression methods, which make movies smaller, also lose some of the image data---i.e., quality. There are a few compression methods that don't lose any image data; these are "lossless" codecs. These lossless codecs do decrease the size of a video file, but they're nowhere near as effective at decreasing size as the lossy codecs are. But file size isn't important when you're doing post-production work. Big files are a fact of life in post-production.
Examples of lossless codecs include the PNG codec and the Animation codec at the highest quality settings, both of which can be used in a QuickTime (.mov) container. I prefer the PNG codec; it's more efficient for photorealistic images, whereas Animation is more efficient for things like cartoons. There are lots of other lossless and nearly lossless codecs. A lot of people that do video editing like the Lagarith codec, but that is something that you'd have to go and get; it's not part of a standard CS5 or QuickTime installation.
See these FAQ entries for information about compression and why file sizes are big for losslessly encoded files:
"FAQ: Why is my output file huge...?"
"FAQ: What is the best format for rendering and exporting from After Effects?"
By the way, keep in mind that you don't always need to render and export an intermediate movie to go from After Effects to Premiere Pro. There are other ways to move data back and forth between these applications, including Dynamic Link. Which is best depends on the specific circumstance. See "Working with Premiere Pro and After Effects".

  • Which is the default password for the linux user oracle?

I installed xe on linux, which - I think - created automatically an operating system user called oracle (well, I'm nearly sure of this, maybe I created the user time ago and I forgot, my memory's never been good and is growing worse).
I thougt this os user pass would be the same I set for db user system, but it is not. Which is the password?
Anyway I suppose I can change the pass from root, but I am curious.
All this comes to me because I'm going to install forms & reports services in the same machine, so I think I have to do it with this user.
Ah! another question ... Is there any conflict between the apex server port and other ports needed for forms and reports services?

You chose the password during the configure script.
If not, su to the oracle user and do
    sqlplus "/ as sysdba"
    password system
and it should prompt you for a new system password.

  • Help on the "latest" content for APEX presentation

Tyler Muth here. It's been way too long since I've been on this forum. Unfortunately my current role doesn't allow much time for APEX projects (all Exadata, all the time). I have to give an apex talk in two days and would love some pointers to the latest "best solution" for a few key topics. The apex community has always been one of it's greatest strengths and I'm hoping for some pointers to community content or just built-in functionality that I may not be aware of. The audience are experienced apex developers (and really sound like they know what they're doing) so their questions are beyond the "spreadsheet to app" demo.
    Here it goes:
<li>Deployment in general. Specifically moving the full app vs 1 page. (not sure much has changed here)
<li>Efficient use of Page Zero such as dynamic actions or dynamic tabs
<li>Source code control best practices. I'm pretty comfortable wit this one but happy to see new and creative solutions.
<li>AJAX: They did a lot of their own AJAX code before apex included jQuery. I think they're looking for more use of the built-in APIs
<li>More details on the "Shuttle". Examples or modifications perhaps?
<li>Customized success messages, such as "Record for Melissa updated".
<li>Not interested in mobile at this time.
    <li>Charting and any custom examples.
<li>Calendar examples beyond what's in the doc. Possibly updating entries inline.
<li>Recent improvements in built-in tabular forms
What I'm looking for are just links to blog posts or other content on these topics if possible. Yes, I can (and will) google them, but the active people in the apex community probably have a good idea where solutions to some of these topics are. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide and I hope to rejoin this community in the near future as I have a few projects where APEX would be a good fit.
    Regards,
    Tyler
    http://tylermuth.wordpress.com

    Hi Tyler,
I’m apologizing in advanced for the short response but I have to go out soon.
Two days seems like a short time to really learn new stuff, but as your audience are experience APEX developers, they might find some of the followings interesting:
*) Deployment – APEX 4.0 introduced the APEX_APPLICATION_INSTALL API (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23903_01/doc/doc.41/e21676/apex_app_inst.htm#CHDIEDJH), which allows you to deploy new applications usinging a command line utility, but still enjoy all the options that were only available in the GUI mechanism (e.g. changing the deployed application ID, default schema, etc.).
*) Error handling – APEX 4.1 introduced some new ways of intercepting and dealing with APEX errors. Patrick wrote two Blog entries on it.
*) Tabular Forms – this feature has considerably changed in 4.x. Adding the option of built-in tabular forms validations (without losing changes in case of validation error) and the option to process the tabular form data per row without resorting to the G_Fxx arrays. Also the Add Row functionality has become a client side operation (important for those who upgrade from pre-4.1 versions). You should search the forum for the combination of marc && tabular && form. He has several threads on the subject.
*) Globalization – if this is an issue with your audience, there were some major enhancement of the translation mechanism. Search Joel’s blog.
That’s all for now. Good luck with the presentation.
    Regards,
    Arie.
