Which Jam Pack?

I played a guitar patch titled "Auditorium Guitar" or something similar a while back while in a studio. I understand it came from a jam pack. I was wondering what jam pack it came from. It was an acoustic nylon string classical sound that was heavily processed with reverb, possibly echo.

I know it was in the first Jam Pack that Apple released, don't know whether it's in any of the current ones.

  • Jam Packs and "Garageband Instruments" when reinstalling Logic?

What's the proper procedure when it comes to Jam Packs and 3rd party Apple Loops libraries when reinstalling Logic and OS X?
I'm keeping my Apple Loops on a separate drive and know that I can just drag them to the Loop Browser after reinstalling Logic. However, by doing so, I don't think I'll be getting the "Garageband Instruments" that are installed with the Jam Packs and some 3rd party Apple Loops libraries. Is that correct? If so, what's the best way to deal with this? Always installing all Apple Loops from the disks or perhaps saving a folder (which one?) with the Garageband Instruments before re-installing OS X?
When I last installed Logic, and told the installer to install the Jam Packs on an external drive, they were still installed on the system drive! Does anyone know why? Now what's the best way to move the Apple Loops? What I've done in the past is installing them to their default location, and then creating an alias in Home:Library:Audio:Apple Loops folder that points to the new location on the external drive. Is that the way to go or is another way better?
Any input or help would be greatly appreciated.

Jam packs consist of two types of content. Loop content will go to where you choose to install it (an external drive if you wish). Instrument content has to go to the GB library, for a number of reasons, and the GB library will be on your system disk under Application Support/Garageband.
So backup your GB library in addition to your Logic related stuff.
It is possible to move much (but not all) of the heavy Instrument content to an external drive too, but there are gotchas with this.

  • Instruments from jam packs are not there after new install

    hi,
i ve been using all jam packs instruments in my GB2 last year on my imac
without any problems. i have them all at my external FW drive since then, and never at my internal. ( i usually dont use "loops" at all, i prefer instruments )
so, i installed new 10.4.4. on my new pb. starting GB2 i cannot see any instruments in my instrument list except the basic GB2 which are shipped.
i am missing , just for example "House Remix Drum set". so i drag it from the external onto the loop window. (the whole GB folder) it takes 5 or 10min and then its finished adding. but they are not in the window. and its also missing when i open a song from 2004 and 2005. it says "cannot find House Remix Drums" for example.
    i read this: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107977
and did it now. but it didnt solve.
maybe i am doing something wrong.
i saw that there are 2 folders in my application support referring to GB2.
its "AUDIO" also, but i thought its only in "application support" > "GARAGEBAND"
drive: Apple Loops Index > folder is empty
drive: user: Apple Loops Index > folder is empty
drive: Library: AUDIO > a couple of folders there (?), includ. "Apple Loops Index" with has a file named "Search Index 28C826A1-8837-11DA-8A69-001124E15E20.txt" date: 2h ago.
how can i begin from scratch? its so confusing as i cant show the path to garageband manually, right? dropping isnt succesfull at all, as i did it now 10times. and its always asking me "this folder does already exist" "do you want to replace it...."
    thanks!

Similar problem but browser would run for 5 minutes and then freeze. only done this since 3.6.6 update. Then i checked everything could think off and found 2 firefoxs running task manager so i ended the one that was frozen, works perfect. Maybe when firefox updated it did not remove the older version. • How do I get Jam Pack instruments to appear in Garageband 11?

I recently got a new MacBook Pro, purchased Logic Pro X, and downloaded the additional content which includes all the Jam Packs.  I got the loops into Garageband by finding the folders and dropping them into the loop browser.  However, I'm not sure how to get the Jam Pack instruments into Garageband.  I've read about copying from one folder to another and then re-indexing, but I don't know which folders or how to reindex.  I've spent hours trying to find the answer. I would very much appreciate your assistance!

GarageBand expects all instruments in the Instruments Library at
    /Library/Application Support/GarageBand/Instrument Library
The Logic instruments are installed in the corresponding location
    /Library/Application Support/Logic/Patches/
    /Library/Application%20Support/Logic/Sampler%20Instruments/

  • How do I get the Jam Pack instruments downloaded from mainstage 3 to show up in Garageband '11?

I downloaded and installed Mainstage 3 to be able to download the jam pack instruments and loops that come with it and use them in Garageband '11. I read that I can use the software instruments in the program, however none of the jam packs I downloaded show up in the list of software instruments in Garageband.
I clicked on the menu which tells me if I want to display 'Garageband','my settings' or 'All' of the instruments, but no 'Jam Pack' option shows up.
how do I get the jam pack instruments to show up in Garageband? I want to know how you import the instruments in the program.

It looks like nobody here is already using Mainstage 3 with GarageBand, since there is no need to upgrade from mainstage 2 while it is still working. What you are reading here on Mainstage, JamPacks, and GB has been tested with Mainstage 2 but not 3.
Did you download all contents for Mainstage? WIth Mainstage 2 the JamPAcks were part of a separate download. Launch Mainstage 3, and check, if there is a menu entry somewhere that will let you download additional contents. If you do not see any JamPacks directly, they may be bundled with "Logic" or "Legacy" items.
In Mainstage 2 it looks like this. Your version probably has a different panel.
Once everything has been installed, reboot.

  • LE 8 doesn't see all of my installed Jam Packs

Just setting up a new mac. I installed all the Jam Packs. After that I brought up Garageband and when I click on "Loops" it show the following list. I did notice that when Garage Band came up, it indicated that it was searching for Jam Packs...
    Garage Band
    iLife Sound Effects
    Jam Pack Remix Tools
    Jam Pack Rhythm Section
    Jam Pack Symphony Orchestra
    Jam Pack Voices
    Jam Pack World Music
I then installed Logic Express 8. I launched it and when I click on "Loops", I'm missing 2 of the Jam Packs. I only see:
    Garage Band
    iLife Sound Effects
    Jam Pack Remix Tools
    Jam Pack Voices
    Jam Pack World Music
Can I drag the missing Jam Packs on to Logic? I don't want to make copies, just want them to be seen there.
    Please advise.
    Thanks

One more observation. I tried dragging just one file over from the Orchestra folder (Academy Cello 01). I then searched for it and found it. I then searched for "Academy Viola 01", but it didn't find it. I ended up dragging over the set of 5 Academy sounds and now if I search for just "Academy" to all show up in the search results. The only bad thing is I don't actually see the "Symphony Orchestra" pack in the list. I guess I can live with that, but it would be nice to see them all there, just so I know which ones I have. Dumb, I know...
If you know of any other way, please let me know.
    Thanks again for your help!

  • I have a new mac book pro. Will my old jam packs work with the new garageband?

I have a new mac book pro. Will my old jam packs work with the new garageband?

I have same problem, been using a macbook 13" for nearly 9 years but it was failing so I bought a macbook pro 15" and after having problems and error messages when trying to download loops ( I finally went to the App Store and opened garageband from there which install some loops), it finally downloaded some but not all the loops that my jam packs had, also I have tons of non-apple loops that I purchased over the years but I want to know if they will work on my new mac ?

  • Can I transfer Jam Pack 3 from one Mac to another without the disk?

    Hello all:
I am using GarageBand 3 on a G5 PowerMac using OSX 10.4.11 (ancient, I know).
I have an equally old G4 PowerBook/laptop on which i also run GarageBand (or used to).
Here's the thing. I do most of my GarageBand work on the G5 (I import into Final Cut Pro and the G5 is more powerful). I have the Jam Pack 3 installed on the PowerBook - which has some really nice drum loops that i want to use). I can't find the original Jam Pack 3 disk so does anyone know if I can copy Jam Pack 3 from the PowerBook to my G5 using an external drive for the transfer.
    Thanks
    A

Just copy the loops you want from Library>Audio>Apple Loops and the instruments from Library>Application Support>Garage Band>Instrument Library. Put them on an external drive. On your new computer open GarageBand and drag the loops into the loop library. That will copy them and put them where they belong. You can try the same thing with the instruments, but I've been having some trouble getting that to work.

  • Installing old Jam Packs on new MacBook Pro

Hi. I recently migrated all my Garageband projects to a new i5 MacBook Pro. The Jampack software instruments have disappeared (and the Jampack manuals are covered with a no-entry type sign and a notice that says "Power PC software no longer supported"). I can see I still have my old Garageband loops, though.
    1. Is there any way to reinstall the software instruments from my old JamPack disks? My tracks really miss some of them.
    2. If so, will this mean I get additional copies of every loop? (Should I delete all the Jampack stuff from this Mac and just start reloading? Where are the loops stored on my Mac?)
    Thanks for your help!!

    1. I would try reinstalling the Jam Packs from the original disks. There are some incompatibilities and strangeness with the Jam Packs (which are no longer sold / supported), so it's a little hit or miss. However, I've been able to install jam packs on a new mac and, outside from strange error messages, have now been able to install them OK.
    2. I'm not sure, but I'd try moving the loops to another folder, then toss after a successful reinstall. To find the loops, go to your Disk -> Library and look in the application support folder (then GB) as well as the Audio (then Apple Loops) folder.
    3. Finally, if things get completely buggered, you could always fully delete GB and all of its bits and pieces, then reinstall GB and the Jam Packs from scratch.

  • Can I get Jam Packs for GarageBand '11 on Snow Leopard?

I have GarageBand '11 (v 6.0.5) on a MacBook 2 with Snow Leopard, and I would like to add Jam Packs.  I know I can get them all if I buy MainStage and download them.  Unfortunately MainStage is now in version 3.3, which does not run on Snow Leopard.  And version 2, which does run on Snow Leopard, is no longer available. (Not supported, I understand.  Not available for sale to willing owners of older equipment I don't understand.  But I digress.)
I have a Mac Mini which I can upgrade to Mountain Lion, and get MainStage.  Can I then move the Jam Packs from the Mini to the MacBook?
    Thanks!

When you say you had to "run" MainStage 2 once - what does run mean? Did you have to open it or do anything else to run it?
I only launched it to be able to access the main menu bar and open the download panel.
I still downloaded these individual instruments but they do not appear in my Garageband loops or anywhere else on my iMac.
Have you rebooted the system after installing the additional content?
You should see additional instruments and loops in the system library  (Your Macintosh HD > Library). Have you checked the following folders:
    /Library/Audio/Apple Loops/Apple/ (for the loops)
    and
    /Library/Application Support/GarageBand/Instrument Library/
    /Library/Application Support/Logic/Sampler Instruments/
Perhaps you need to rebuild the Lopp Index, if you find the loops somewhere and they do not show in GarageBand:  Rebuilding the Loop Index in GarageBand
Silly question, but you have checked, if no filters are set in the Inspector, right? The top of the Info Panel  should be showing "Show all" and the search filed be empty.

  • Jam Packs on more than one computer

This may a dumb question, but I don't remember haveing to enter any sort of Software License ID# or anything, which leads me to believe that I can buy one Jam Pack and install it on as many machines as I want? If I am want to get rid of them, and then give my old Jam Packs to someone else, they shouldn't have any issues installing them on their machine correct?

Correcto. I got the symphony pack on ebay used and had no problems. I'm going to selling all of mine for funds to upgrade Logic. No codes, except to register, and I haven't seen any benefits of registering with any of my J packs.

  • Jam Pack Error

I upgraded Logic Express 8 to Logic Studio 9 last night on a 2007 Intel Mac and clicked on all install options. It took a long time, but it is running fine even though at the end of the installation it said that a major error had occurred; however, I don't believe it ever asked me to install the 3rd Jam Pack Cd. Is there a way to check which of the jam packs were installed and how do I install those that were not?
    Thanks in advance

    I had the same problem.
Someone else reported that they encountered the error message but the Jam Pack installed for them anyway.
But it's not working for me, or for you apparently.
I don't think it's the content, but an incompatibility with the installer (which could be downloaded - easy for Apple to fix).
Here's the feedback link. If enough people let them know it's not working, hopefully they'll fix it:

  • Installing audio and jam pack content

I'm running logic pro 9 on a mackbook pro and want to save sessions and store audio and jam pack content on a 7200rpm firewire 800 external hard drive. I installed the audio content on the external drive successfully but the installation software won't allow me to install the jam pack content on the external drive; it wants me to install it on the system drive which I had hoped to avoid.
Is there a way to perform the installation on the external drive?
I also installed logic on a mac pro, and on this install, the software won't allow me to install audio content or jam pack on a drive different than the system drive.
Any ideas on how to resolve these two issues?

    hi joearturo
I've got the JPs on an ext hdd. It's been a while but as I recall I installed onto the system drive, then dragged the jam pack folder, say orchestra, into my plugins samples folder on the ext drive and deleted the folder on the sys drive.
When logic opened next it gave a message saying something like "can't find folder" choose location. A drop down box appeared with all the drives and I selected the ext and the appropriate folder. Everything was okay from then on.
Hope this helps, although its somewhat convoluted.
    Scorpi.
