Which Java Plugin? Which Browser

Hello,
I developed a simple chat program which used to work fine. I added a swing object to it, and now it is not displayed on some browsers. What is the version of Nestcape, Explorer, I need to have and which plug-in do I need?

Swing needs the Java plugin to display on any/all IE browsers. Use the current plugin available for download at java.sun.com. IE5, 5.5 and 6 all work well. NS6 is the only Netscape browser that I've seen recommended, but I'm only repeating what I hear, since I dont use it.
I don't understand the prior reponse, IE6 is the latest. He might be alluding to the fact that Windows XP (with its version of IE6) is shipping without a Java VM; Until MS starts including the VM again, all XP systems need to download the Sun Plugin before they'll display any Java.

Company using obiee 10.1.3.4.0, installed on aix machine, using IBM websphere server for the presentation layer.
Due to the recent java security alert, my company like to disable the browser java plugin.
Question is does obiee needs the browser to have the java plugin?
Can obiee analytics and bi publisher work properly through the browser without java plugin? Hope some experts here can provide me some answers. Thanks in advance!

I tried by disabling the Java Plugin in my IE browser and open a few chart reports with no problem.
Have you actually experience problem when you do that? Like to know when will it actually have problem.

Virus attack on page load thru Java plugin, which won't take "Disable" - re-enables itself - like a virus.

As a page loaded, there were Java update popups. The virus went right past updated Avast & AdAware and immediately took over my PC. Spoofed an anti-virus app that needed "activation" (with my Credit card of course). After 3 days of scans & scrubbing that showed a dozen of so viruses & trojens (inc. in my restore pts), I want to disable Java until I need it on a trusted site.

Does the ext directory have the php_oci8.dll? In the original steps the PHP dir is renamed. In the given php.in the extension_dir looks like it has been updated correctly. Since PHP distributes php_oci8.dll by default I reckon there would be a very good chance that the problem was somewhere else. Since this is an old thread I don't think we'll get much value from speculation.

We are using Oracle ERP in our company which is a web based ERP system. I am using firefox to work in ERP for convinieince pf working and using internet at the same time. This requires a plugin provided by oracle oajinit.exe to be installed in Plugins it is a JAVA plugin which opens the ERP Screens. This works fine in versions prior to 3.6 version of firefox. However, after upgrading to 3.6 version the forms do not open and firefox crashes. Due to this i am not able to upgrade to the latest version else i'll have to operate the ERP in internet explorer and using firefox for browsing which i do not want. The plugin used for the ERP is "* JInitiator 1.3.1.18 for Netscape Navigator (DLL Helper)"

Firefox 3.6 needs the Java Second Generation Plugin which comes with newer versions than 1.6.0_03 - update Java, the latest version is 1.6.0_22

Java plugin not working with firefox1.0.4 post 11i installation.

Do anyone has idea which java plugin is requried for firefox1.0.4 to open Java applets after installation of 11i EBS?
I have checked jre1.6 update 5, it is perfectly installed and associated but not working for 11i applets.
Kindly do also tell me where to download the jdk version from?

I have a program that requires a Java plugin version 1.6.0_17 can you tell me where to find it?

I need this particular version, but have no clue how or where to find it. I am operating under Windows 7 currently. Can someone point me in the right direction?? Thanks in advance1

Please keep in mind however that the Firefox Java Plugin has blocked JRE versions below 1.6.0_31 or between 1.7.0 and 1.7.0_2. As of April 2012 some Firefox versions automatically block all Java plugins which are Java versions less than 1.6.0_31, therefore every user that has a problem and is running with a Demantra that supports Java higher than 1.6.0_19 can upgrade their Java plugin to 1.6.1_31. Demantra 7.3.0.2 and all versions of 7.3.1 support it.
Anyone who has a problem while running on an older Demantra version that does not support Java versions newer than 1.6.0_19 cannot use Firefox with Demantra. Instead they can either use Windows Internet Explorer (IE) without a Java upgrade or they can upgrade their Demantra.
If they upgrade to the latest Java version then the Demantra plugin will not work - not with Firefox and not with IE.

Hi, I have the newest update of Fire Fox which is 10.0.2. I can't get the Java plugin to download to Firefox.

I am wanting to get Java working on Firefox so I can utilize chat rooms and other programs that use Java, and no it is not Javascript that I am talking about. Every time I go to a site that utilizes Java it tells me that I need to download the Java plugin. When I click on the link it starts to download the Java plugin, but instead of installing the plugin it installs Java for Internet Explorer instead.

Firefox browser does not recognize Java plugin in 64 bit Linux

I am running Firefox12 on RHEL5 with Java6u31 installed. Unfortunately firefox will not recognize the java plugin. I have tried linking it in the appropriate directory (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/760718?e=es&as=aaq) and I get nothing. The only feedback I seem to get is that when I go to this website: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/ it tells me that Firefox has "disabled my version of Java because it is outdated" which is total BS because I have the latest version! Typing in "about:plugins" only shows the flash plugin (which is in the same directory !!!!)
Java used to work in my browser and flash works fine and I've been trying for ages to get it to work again and I'm at a loss.
Doesn't anyone else have this problem ??????????

Which Java version is recommended for widest compatibility?

I started learning and coding with JDK 1.1_Final, but particular code elements do not seem to be working. For example, overriding update() to not clear the screen and instead only call paint() has no effect at all - the screen still gets cleared! I had hoped to compile using 1.1.x for maximum browser compatibility, but if the language version doesn't work then there's little point in using it. So, with the release of Java 2 and SDK 1.4.x, what are people doing out there to code applets that will reach the widest target audience? I've restricted my HTML code limited to the 4.x browsers or higher, but haven't yet found a listing of which versions of Java are compatible with which versions of browsers. (Sun's FAQ is incomplete in this matter.) So, I'm not quite sure how to balance the compatibility issues and decide which version of Java to use for reaching a reasonable 'maximum' target audience without forcing site visitors to upgrade their browsers for viewing my applets. (I hate sites like that!) So, what version of Java do you use for applets, and why? What browser versions are you compatible with? What other issues should I be considering? Can you tell me if I have a 64 bit operating system which Java update do I download

Please can anyone advise me on what Java update I download for a Windows 7 64 bit operating system. My Firefox is telling me I need to urgently update my Java but when I click through to update all that is there is a page of confusing information about 32 bit and 64 bit systems. It asks which version am I using 64 bit version of Firefox or 32 bit. I didn't know there were two, I thought when referring to 64 bit and 32 bit it meant the operating system of my computer. Can anyone clear this up for me. Thank you.

Of course, if you have a x64 bit system, its better to download a x64 bit Java version. However, i think Firefox won't be able to use it since Firefox isn't x64 bit (yet). So if you need Java in your browser, you'll need Java's 32bit version.
Keep in mind i could be wrong. It's just my guessing because i tried it out some months ago. I installed 64bit Java but Firefox couldn't handle it.
However in my opinion you won't recognize a difference between 32 and 64 bit, unless you play games in Java or do other resource intensive work. 32bit will always work on a 64bit PC, but not the other way around.

Error while running Java program which call a file upload servlet

WEB-INF/classes/content directory. But now I am trying to run the Java program(this contains main method) from the command prompt, which should inturn call my servlet.(I have web.xml file inside WEB-INF dir). But I receive the following error

You are trying to invoke the class from the command prompt. My guess is that MultiContentSender contains a package, which means that you'll need to add your WEB-INF\classes directory to the classpath before it will work. Classes stored in this directory are expected to be invoked through tomcat, which builds it's own classpath.

Design Problem : How to design/code a java client which is deployed to all the machines in a cluster and make sure that only one of the java client is active

          I have to design a java client (which is basically a JMS message listener)which
          is deplloyed to all the servers in the cluster. But as these are message listeners,
          i want only one of the instance to be active at a time.
          If the server on which the client is active goes down , I want the second server
          to start listening to messages.
          How do i design this ? Also is there a public api for multicasting that we can
          use ?
          Anybody has an idea on how to go about this..

          Failover message listeners? Sounds like you want MDBs, which are deployed on all nodes in a
          cluster. If your JMS destination is a queue, then only one MDB will pick up the message. And just
          like any other ejb service, MDBs failover.

Applet.java file which used to compile, now does not

I cannot re-compile a java file which I used to compile many times.
It keeps saying:
error: cannot read PopupNavigatorApplet.java
1 error
I extracted the original from the archive - the same result
What might be wrong?

Perhaps you don't have the rights to access the file in the filesystem? Are you working on *nix or Windoze (or any other)? Is your classpath set properly (including the current working directory '.')?
So many questions and no answers.. ;o)

How Can we stop the execution of java program which contain infinite loop

Dear All,
I create one .bat file which which execute the simple java program
I write one java program which execute above .bat file using instance of Runtime Class of java
It's work fine if java program which is executed by .bat file is simple(Which has normal termination)
But if that program contain inifinte loop then that file will goes on executing untill I close it manually
So i want a solution in java which close that bat file (command window ) which is in running condtion
If there any solution please replay me
I try to close that .bat file using destroy() ,stop() method of Process and Runtime , Thread Class
but it did not give me correct output
.bat file still running !!!!!!!!!

Why not use javaw.exe to make the app run so you don't need the dos window (which is presumably what you are actually talking about when you say bat file).
