Which JetDirect Printer Server shall I choose for my LaserJet M1319f?

Hi,
I own a LaserJet M1319f MFP and would need to make it "network aware" as we have Mac, Win and iOs devices and all want to print :-)
For a start I would be OK with just printing capabilities, I don't need it to scan or fax with the computer(s).
The basic question is: Which Printer Server shall I choose? I don't want to run a PC as Server so I'd need "something", in earlier days I used a Jetdirect device but which one would be compatible with the M1319?
Any hints welcome,
Many thanks,
Peter

While your Laserjet appears to be a consumer model, the Jetdirect print servers are commerical products.
You would be best to post this question in the commercial support forums.

  • Which Linux file-server software is best for sharing with Mountain Lion?

    Hi,
I'm hoping someone here will have set up a file-server on a Linux box for their LAN, and will be able to advise me on which software they used.  I can't find a working tutorial for Netatalk and NFSv4 is buggy and slow.  I'd rather avoid Samba given it's the only one not native to either OS.
Primary concern is ease of setup, followed by reliability, followed by speed.
I've posted for help on Linux forums but I suspect very few of the perusers there are Mac users…

Apple fools a lot of people with that. The 13" is really a MacBook and not a "Pro" machine.
The best machine for video editing depends upon what your going to do, full on production or casual home stuff.
A 15" MacBook Pro and a iMac for the casual lightweight stuff and iMove can do the job.
The new MacPro coming out for the heavy duty stuff.
The industry seems to be moving away from Final Cut Pro X as it's been consumerized or something, lacking needed features and moving towards Avid on powerful Mac's or Windows 7 towers.

  • How to print with HP Jetdirect 175g Print Server

I am using an old "Snow" Airport base station, which works perfectly well with my MacBook's AirPort card under Snow Leopard. Currently an HP Jetdirect 175g Print Server is plugged into the Airport base station. However, when I press the print server's configuration button, a page is printed out that merely indicates a subnet of 255. But otherwise does not offer an IP address, for use in setting up an Snow Leopard IP printer.
HP is of absolutely no help here. The print server was originally set up under Tiger, however since upgrading to Snow Leopard it no longer works. I am at a loss as to how to make this connection work that once did under TIger. There is no driver installer listed on HPs site for OS X.
How do I get this setup working again under Snow Leopard?

    Hi there,
It's been years since I've worked with a JetDirect print server but at that time I used HP's Web Jetadmin application on Windows 9x. Checking the HP web site there doesn't appear to be a Mac version - still only Windows versions.
Looking at the HP web site, there appears to be a way to reset the print server and configure the network settings via telnet. Have a look at this document.

  • Belkin Print Server support for Epson Stylus photo R200

I have just installed a Belkin Wirless G adsl modem router, which works very well and I very satisfied with it. Along with this I purchased a Belkin Print server F1UP0001uk to drive my Epson stylus photo R200. While I can see my Print server and ping it satisfactoraly and it can see my printer. I can't get it to print.
Belkin tell me that I have to change the CUPS port from 515 to 9100 for print server port1 or 9101 for port2 on each machine I want to connect from.
    How do I do this?
    G4   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

What they are describing is the HP Jetdirect protocol on OS X, called raw/port 9100 printing on Windows. To use port 9100, in Printer Setup, select IP printer > HP JetDirect and it will work (9100 is the default port number). To use port 9101 requires the advanced method. In Printer Setup, after you click ADD, hold down the option key while clicking More Printers (you may need to pause a bit before the More Printers, because OS X is searching for Bonjour printers). At the bottom of the new menu, select Advanced, then select Appsocket/HP Jetdirect. Name it. Fill in the URI like:
    socket://[IPofserver]:9101

Improving SQL skills will often be a good thing for a large range of people.
Checkout [www.oracle.com/education/certification] and particularly 'View all certification' to help you choose.
Also Drill down from the that link for exam topics, training and authorized practice exams.
A better way of choosing the question is what set of skills would do I think I can and would like to master,
Where do I think these skills will help me in a career,
What training will I need to master those skills,
And what certification will should that I have mastered them.
If you have already a little/experience I suggest 1z0-047 for Oracle Database: SQL Certified Expert* perhaps ought to be exam of choice, as this ought to be useful for the widest range of jobs. However I might actually suggest going for 1z0-051 first as a possibly easier target stepping stone. Incidently I have not taken 1z0-047 myself.

Oracle Database SQL ExpertCannot be taken online, perhaps a good thing. May lead to an OCE certification. May be harder to study for and marginally more expensive
    1Z0-007
    Introduction to Oracle9i SQL®
    1Z0-051
Oracle Database 11g: SQL Fundamentals 1Both can be taken online and are adequate component of a number of certifications. 11g is obviously more up to date. Both, I believe, are not subject to a 14 day retake if you fail.
The osbourne/oracle press ISBN-13: 978-0071597869: OCA Oracle Database 11g SQL Fundamentals I Exam Guide: Exam 1Z0-051 (Osborne Oracle Press Series) does a good job of covering 1z0-051 if your starting with some experience of SQL but I suggest you should suppliment that with quality (eg Oracle) training if necessary

  • Unable to connect wireless print server while using wireless modem to ISP

Unable to connect an HP Laserjet 1320 thru the JetDirect ew2400 External Print Server to an imac G5 that uses the 2WIRE352 modem for ISP access thru ATT. Either the ISP is connected and works, or the printer works but no internet access. HP (after 1hr 15 min.) said I need to change/access the "infrastructure" in the OSX. Is that correct? & if so, how do I do this? Do I need to hire Apple Tech Support to do this? How much will that cost. I'm ready to send the Print Server back to HP for a refund.

I would post your issue in the Printing & Faxing forum area. More chance for some of the gurus like Greg Sahli to respond.

  • Printing from tiger to win2k3 print server in AD

    Hiya all
I have a win2k3 domain to with a couple of win2k3 print servers, we have mostly win xp boxes but have a Mac population of about 100-140.
I am having problems printing to the print server from a Tiger workstation, it is a full member of the AD domain and will pre-authentiucate me to shares no problem, if add a printer listed under 'open directory' or browse to the print serve then select the server it all goes through fine and the print is then listed.
When you run a print job it comes up with the error:
Unable to connect to samba host, will retry in 60 secs.
    Connection failed with error
    NTSTATUS_ACCESSDENIED
I am using the Tiger AD client not AdmitMac so it is a all apple install..
    Anybody have any ideas?
    Thanks
    Laurence
      Mac OS X (10.4.3)

    Hiya All
Have solved myself, It is a bug in the AD client in that it does pre-authenticate samba shares on AD domain machines but NOT print shares on the same machines..
It has been reported but as to when it will be fixed...
The way round it is manually map them.
Go into print and fax then add a printer.
click the more printers button, change the top drop down to windows printing then change the other drop down to network neighbourhood.
select your AD domain from the list and then scroll down to your print server and click choose.
You will then be prompted for a username and password, enter your domain username and password (no domain prefix needed) and tick the option for the keychain.
Select the appropriate print share and change the make and model to reflect the printer.
click add and thats job done.
The only caveat I will add to this is that when your domain password expires and you change it this obviously will invalidate the connection, this means you must delete the keychain and re-add the printer.
    Thanks

  • WRT54G and a Netgear WGPS606 Print Server

    Hi,
Am having some issues that I hoping someone can help me with.  First I have a broadband modem which is connect to my Linksys WRT54G.  I recently bought a netgear print server (WGPS606) to allow for wireless printing.
In going through the setup of the print server I assigned it a static IP (192.168.1.150) address which is outside of the DHCP pool on the Linksys router (pool of DHCP address is 192.168.1.100 - 109).  The issue is that the print when it first starts up is assigned the IP address specified however after about 5-10 minutes...the Linksys router seems to reassign its IP address to something within the DHCP pool.
I cannot seem to figure out where in the setup for the router you set up specific devices with static ip addresses.
Any help or insight into this is greatly appreciated.
    M

With Linksys routers, a fixed (static) LAN IP addresses must be assigned in the device that is using the address. So you need to enter the fixed address in the computer or print server, not in the router.
Also, in the computer or print server, when you set up a static LAN IP address, you would need to set the "Subnet mask" to 255.255.255.0 and the "Default Gateway" to 192.168.1.1 and "DNS server" to 192.168.1.1
It is also important that no two devices on your network be set to the same static LAN IP address.
The Linksys DHCP server does not "give out" an address unless an address is requested.  Therefore I would be suspicious that somehow the print server is requesting an address.   Usually "DHCP automatic" is automatically turned off when you setup your print server with a fixed address, but maybe, somehow, this is not happening in your print server.  If the print server has any kind of "DHCP automatic" setting, make sure it is off.  This could be a setting that you access through buttons on the print server, or through the print server setup software or setup pages.
Also, I assume you are connecting your printer to the print server using a USB cable.  If you are instead using an ethernet cable to connect your printer to the print server, then it is probably your printer that is requesting the address.   In this case, either use a USB cable, or setup the printer itself with an address outside the DHCP server range, such as 192.168.1.151
    Hope this helps.

  • HP Jetdirect Printing over LAN with 2 iMacs with Airport Extreme

    I have an interesting situation:
    3 iMacs on network
1 iMac connected directly to an Airport Extreme base (does not have Airport card) - this station connected to USB inkjet printer - printing to the Laserjet mentioned below is not necessary.
2 iMacs connected to Airport wireless internet. These two iMacs are (were) connected to a HP Jetdirect 175x print server using ethernet. Both iMacs are (were) sharing a HP Laserjet 1200. Once the network was configured to see the internet via the Airport on both iMacs the ability to print was lost on ethernet. As long as the wireless network connection is maintained the Laserjet printer does not appear to be connected.
Aside from the blatantly obvious solution of connecting the HP Jetdirect print server directly to the Airport Extreme is there a way to configure the network to allow the current ethernet printing to work while the iMacs remain connected to the internet using wireless?
Logistics in the home make the movement of the Airport and/or the Laserjet printer impossible.
Any ideas on a work around?

Aside from the blatantly obvious solution of connecting the HP Jetdirect print server directly to the Airport Extreme...
    What is it connected to?
Do you by chance have another router and that device is connected to it? If so, configure the AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS) so that it is acting as a bridge (NOT sharing a single IP address).

  • Using an old WRT54G as a print server

I have an old WRT54G wireless router that I would like to use as a print server or access point for an HP printer that is located in a downstairs office. it would only be the printer hooked up. I just want to be able to print from anywhere in the house. Is this possible? Do I need different firmware? Any help with instructions would be great!! Thanks
    Marcel

Try http://www.dd-wrt.com.  It gives you the capability to put the router into client mode.  I am using it on my WRT54G to connect to a WRT54G2, but not with a printer.  Since your printer is network capable, I see no reason why this shouldn't work.

  • Macbook w/10.6.8 not seeing print server

So here's the problem with 2 of my macbooks with 10.6.8 on it. We recently set up a new print server and is working for all of our other laptop of same the vintage except for 2 of them. I've redone there network settings-that's fine. I've rebound them to our network-that's fine too. I've reset the print system-that's worked perfectly with all of the other laptops except these 2. I've cleared the MCX cache. Deleted CIJScannerRegister.plist. I've even reset the pram and smc just to be complete about it but still none of the printers for that building show up (that do show up for all the other laptop of same model and also 10.6.8)
    What am i missing?
Also, i've verified that the 2 laptops are indeed in the correct print group in WGM.

    Hello CMattos,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with printing from 2 of your MacBooks.  You have taken some really good troubleshooting steps already.  I found an article with a few additional steps you can take.  I recommend following the steps below (you can skip the steps you have already taken):
Follow these steps until the issue is addressed:
Make sure that the printer is powered on, has ink / toner, and that there are no alerts on the printer’s control panel. Note: If you cannot clear an alert on the printer's control panel, stop here and check the printer's documentation or contact the manufacturer for support.
Ensure the printer is properly connected to a USB port on the Mac or AirPort base station / Time Capsule. If the printer is a network-capable printer, make sure that it is properly connected to your home network.
Use Software Update to find and install the latest available updates. If an update is installed, see if the issue persists.
Open the Print & Scan pane or Print & Fax (Snow Leopard) pane in System Preferences.
Delete the affected printer, then add the printer again.
If the issue persists, try these additional steps:
Reset the printing system, then add the printer again.
If the issue still persists, reset the printing system again.  Download and install your printer's drivers. Then, add the printer again.
Contact the printer vendor or visit their website for further assistance.
    Additional Information
Note: If your printer is wireless-capable, you should first add the printer to your network. Use the printer's control panel, or temporarily connect the printer to your Mac via USB.  For more details, see this article.

  • Macpro and adhoc print server

I am trying to setup a Linksys printserver in adhoc mode using a MacBook Pro. I have searched the internet for directions and can not find any.
Here is what I am trying to do. My daughter will be going to college in the fall. I thought it would be nice if she didn't have to plug into her printer when she needed to print something. The university has a wireless network but obviously I can't add the printer to that. So, I thought a wireless printserver would be the way to go. The linksys says it will work in adhoc mode and thus does not need a wireless network to operate. However, there aren't any directions included with the unit to set this up. Any assistance would be appreciated.
I briefly looked at bluetooth but it would be extremely slow and not provide a print buffer so I dismissed it quickly. Is this a better solution?

Sorry, I'm not going to give you any adhoc mode help.
But I will tell you that how easy and how well it works is dependent on the printer model. The Linksys uses standard protocols that the Mac can use - but to use those protocols, the Mac requires a CUPS driver for your printer model. Manufacturer-provided drivers aren't CUPS drivers (postscript printers avoid any hassles because they are automatically CUPS-compatible). Apple included the third-party Gimp-Print (CUPS) drivers for lots of non-postscript printers, but you need to be forewarned that quality with third-party (free) drivers is almost always less than OEM drivers.
This isn't an advertisement, but I want to explain that Mac-to-Mac sharing and Mac to Airport Express/Extreme printing avoid the problem by using a proprietary comm protocol that essentially redirects the USB driver output to the other computer/Airport print server. So an Airport Express print server is often better for Mac users. I personally don't have one....
    So, what printer is it?
