Which kernel components should be applied together?

Hi all,
I thought there was a SAP note, which described the kernel components that should be applied together.
And I thought this was a i5/OS specific note.
There was a list from some component which always should be applied together and not seperate.
(e.g. DW, TP, r3trans....)
Do someone know this note or can give me the answer?
Regards
Tobias

Hi Christian,
thanks for your reply.
I know that SAP Support Packages stacks including tested components, which should work fine.
But sometime you have to apply for example a new DW Patch because of a known bug or something.
And I thought there was a note, that you shouldn't patch DW alone. Either you have to apply some other components with the DW together.
But when I understand you right, this is obsolete in the meantime...?

    I found this in the kernel''s /driver/net/Kconfig:
    config SKGE
    tristate "New SysKonnect GigaEthernet support"
    depends on PCI
    select CRC32
    ---help---
    This driver support the Marvell Yukon or SysKonnect SK-98xx/SK-95xx
    and related Gigabit Ethernet adapters. It is a new smaller driver
    with better performance and more complete ethtool support.
    It does not support the link failover and network management
    features that "portable" vendor supplied sk98lin driver does.
    This driver supports adapters based on the original Yukon chipset:
    Marvell 88E8001, Belkin F5D5005, CNet GigaCard, DLink DGE-530T,
    Linksys EG1032/EG1064, 3Com 3C940/3C940B, SysKonnect SK-9871/9872.
    It does not support the newer Yukon2 chipset: a separate driver,
    sky2, is provided for Yukon2-based adapters.
    To compile this driver as a module, choose M here: the module
    will be called skge. This is recommended.
    Looks like your module is "skge"

  • DW 8.0 or CS3 - don't know which one I should get

    Looking for advice on which DW version to go for. I'm
    extremely new to DW and have designed many sites in the past using
    FP, so it looks like I will be converting sites from FP to DW AFTER
    I figure out what I am doing. I am confused on which DW I should
    start learning. I got a book to help me learn the 8.0 version but
    this was AFTER I saw there were no more trials for 8.0 and now I
    have downloaded the free trial of the CS3 version and the book is
    pretty much following along and have done a tutorial which turned
    out good and was fairly easy to follow.
    Is the CS3 version the newest and is it better than 8.0? Is
    one harder than the other for beginners to learn? I've been doing
    lots of searches on this forum as well as online but can't seem to
    figure which is better and more user friendly. I'm seeing how
    others are having problems with 8.0 and then also with the
    additional download for 8.2 I think it was. I'm looking for some
    expert advice from other users before I make the plunge and
    purchase - which one ??

    DWCS3 is way different from DW8, but not in ways that
    necessarily hit you in
    the face. The integration with Photoshop, for example, is
    excellent. The
    CSS rendering is excellent (but could still improve). The CSS
    editing is
    WAY better.
    I guess if you aren't using CSS, though, you wouldn't
    appreciate these
    differences....

  • Which uesr exit should I use by such a case

    The requirement is to send the email to manager when anyone create or change the Material data by using MM01/MM02.
    The function of sending email I have done but I don't know which user exit should be used to call the function.
    I have tried  MGA00001 >EXIT_SAPLMGMU_001>INCLUDE ZXMG0U02 and writed some code in the ZXMG0U02. (ex: break point) .but when I modified the Material and saved,the stop does not appear. whether I used a wrong user exit?

    You can use enhancement MGA00001 (industry only) for this.
    For more information, see the documentation for the following components assigned to this enhancement:
    Function Calls :
    EXIT_SAPLMGMU_001
    Enhancement Number : MGA00001
    If you want to send a mail for only material creation/ extend then you can you the badi BADI_MATERIAL_REF.
    we don't have BADI 's for Change the Material master records.
    If you want to send a mail for MM02 also then you can go for the Enhancement ' MGA00001' under the function module 'EXIT_SAPLMGMU_001'.

  • Sd_mod, sr_mod: which kernel options?

    Hello all,
    I just started fiddling around with compiling my own kernel because I'm not satisfied with the performance/latency of my desktop system.
    I thought it would be a good thing to start with
    http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Kernel_Compilation_From_Source
    to get a hang of the whole procedure. I compiled a few kernels with minor changes (moving modules into the kernel etc.) just to see what happens and practice a bit. It all worked fine, adjusting menu.lst, mkinitcpio and so on...
    Then I started to remove all the stuff that I (thought I ) didn't need for my laptop (TravelMate 4650). I ran into problems when mkinitcpio reported 'ata_piix' and other ata stuff missing but I went back to gconfig and it was easy to find out what I shouldn't have removed.
    Now -- after ruthlessly double-clicking around in gconfig ("if it doesn't sound familiar, it has to go" ) -- mkinitcpio tells me I need 'sr_mod' and 'sd_mod', some really important SCSI modules (apparently). I don't even have SCSI devices but my disks are all /dev/sd* so that means I need SCSI support, right? This is the message:
    [13:50:26][luke@calculon][~/kernelbuild/linux-2.6.23]$ sudo mkinitcpio -k 2.6.23-MY_ARCH -g /boot/kernel26-my-arch.img
    :: Begin build
    :: Parsing hook [base]
    :: Parsing hook [udev]
    :: Parsing hook [autodetect]
    :: Parsing hook [pata]
    ERROR: module 'sd[-_]mod' not found
    ERROR: module 'sr[-_]mod' not found
    :: Parsing hook [keymap]
    :: Parsing hook [filesystems]
    :: Generating module dependencies
    :: Generating image '/boot/kernel26-my-arch.img'...SUCCESS
    My problem now is that I can't figure out which kernel options are related to these two modules. The 'SCSI device support' section lists 'BLK_DEV_SD' and 'BLK_DEV_SR' which I activated with the 'M' (I looked up the config from abs to find the standard settings). I still get the same message. Does it make a difference (to mkinitcpio) if you mark something 'M' or 'Y'? I mean, does it realize that if something isn't there as a modul it might be integrated in the kernal already?
    All in all I have to say is that the whole kernel compilation is not that complicated. I was always afraid to try but now (thanks to Arch) I started diving into the innards (eewww) of a Linux system. The important thing is to keep a working backup version in case something goes wrong (which will happen).
    I've read a little (only superficially so far) about patching the kernel to increase performance/responsiveness on the desktop (which is my ultimate goal). There seems to be a big discussion going on (with Con Colivas and all) about this issue. I know, there are a lot of topics about this already but is applying kernel patches worth the effort? Can you feel a difference in performance? I've set the Processor Family option the Pentium-M (my CPU) and I set the Preemption Model to PREEMPT but that hasn't really made a difference. If you ask me, it's probably worse than before.
    OK, the last paragraph was a little OT, my main problem are 'sd_mod' and 'sr_mod' .  It takes 20 minutes to compile every time so I'm a little reluctant to just use trial and error with every module.
    Thanks for immediate help or giving relevant links. Is there something that tells you exactly which module is linked to which config option? That would be really helpful.

    I tried to mkinitcpio with both scsi disk support built into the kernel and as a module both ways I am not able to make my system work with the new kernel.
    I get the same error if I try to run mkinitcpio with scsi disk support build into the kernel.
    When the scisi disk sopport is left to be loaded later as a module, mkinitcpio works fine but later while booting the system complains that the partition was not found, i.e /dev/disk/by-uuid/"some kinda code" was not found.
    I am not able to boot into my new kernel.
    please help.

    So, recently, I applied for 2 new cards ( both with capital one) and got approved for both ( credit score is 621). • How should I apply patches to forms 6i?

    Hi,
    Someone told me that in order to work properly with forms 6i you have to apply patches.
    How could we find that our forms 6i need patches in order to run properly on windows 2000 Server?
    I have a metalink account, what patch of forms 6i I need and how should I download it and then how should I apply it to forms 6i from METALINK?
    After applying required patch does forms 6i works properly in the future?
    Thanks
    Behari

    Without having any details about your problem, there is no way of knowing if a "patch" will solve your problem. Additionally, there are no specific patches required which are needed to run on Windows 2000. All 6.0.8.x versions were certified on Win2k
    However, the latest and last patch for Forms/Reports 6i is Metalink Patch ID# 4183804
    This will make your Forms version 6.0.8.26

  • Which DVD format should I purchase

    I am planning on burning a bunch of videos using iDVD, but I have never done this before. Which DVD fromat should I purchase.
    DVD-R? DVD+R?
    what is the difference?
    Also, what about RW discs? Can DVD players play these ok? I know some cd player had/have problems playing CDRW, does that apply to DVD players as well?

    First of all, depending upon your puter/burner you may not have a choice, some older models only burn -R but most recent Mac superdrives should support both
    Having said that, -R seems to be a more reliable, more compatible way to go; I have had few probs with DVD players reading -R discs (these were on very old DVD players and with some suspicious DVD brands), a few more with + R. Most people on this forum would reccomend -R discs (Verbatim seems to be the preferred brand) and I would concur.
    RW also seems to have more compatability probs.
    No matter which format of media you choose, I would reccomend using iDVD to create a Disc Image then use your Mac's Disc Utility or Roxio Toast to burn the disc at a slow speed like x2 or x1. This seems to eliminate some probs
