Which kind of DVD blanks to use?

Hi - I will be burning my first DVD from the Encore project I've made.  My computer internal burner is:
HL-DT-ST DVD+RW GH50N
I'm not sure what kind of blank DVDs to get - DVD-R or +R.  And which one plays in most new and older players?
Please advise.
Thank you.

Even better than Taiyo Yuden/JVC are Falcon Media Pro. The printable surface is just as good and the burn surface is slightly superior. You will also find a larger selection of media types with Falcon Media Pro (such as glossy hub printable DVD-R, DVD+R DL, BD-R, etc). Falcon Media Pro discs are typically used by authoring houses due to their excellent reliability, competitive price, and of course being non-branded like all professional blank media.
Our company provides professional authoring services using our motion menu templates, and Falcon Media Pro is the only brand we use now. We pride ourselves on delivering the best quality media and packaging available to our customers, so it is very important to us that we only use the best... and Falcon Media Pro discs are currently the best in the industry. I just wish more resellers would have them so we could pick them up from a local place and not have to pay for shipping (we buy in bulk).

  • Which kind of software should I use?

This morning, my Windows operating system suddenly crashed and can not boot normally. So, I tried to restart computer through
restoring Windows with Ghost. However, after restoring Windows operating system, I found all non-system partitions are lost because of mistaken operations. I want to recover lost partitions.
Which kind of software should I use?

generally, different methods should be adopted in different situations. If users have made backup, they can restore lost
partitions with the help of partition backup. Nevertheless, since many Windows users are not used to backing up common partitions,
they should select partition recovery software if they want to recover lost partitions easily and safely. However, there
is a large amount of partition recovery software which has serious defects in function. Once we use this kind of partition recovery software to recover lost partitions, we are very likely to suffer Windows partition recovery failure. More seriously, lost partition
may be damaged heavily, bringing great trouble. In order to help users avoid downloading partition recovery software which
has serious defects, we suggest usingMiniTool Partition Recovery.

  • Which dual layer DVD discs to use with my new iMac???

I just purchased a new iMac from Apple, and would like to know which Dual layer DVD discs work best. Does Apple sell their own DL discs?
    Thanks,
    Bryan

I highly recommend DVD+R DL discs by TDK. I use TDK almost exclusively for all my disc burning needs (the other brand I recommend for CD's is Philips, but they are hard to find).

  • Which kind of DVD Dual Layer work on MacPro DVD Drive?

On my MacPro 2X3 GHz Quad Core Intel Xeon I have, as a DVD Drive, an
    OPTIARC DVD RW AD-7170A:
    Revisione firmware: 1.N8
    Interconnessione: ATAPI
Supporto masterizzazione: Sì (unità fornita da Apple)
    Cache: 2048 KB
    Legge i DVD: Sì
    Masterizzatore CD: -R, -RW
    Masterizzatore DVD: -R, -RW, +R, +R DL, +RW
    Strategie di scrittura: CD-TAO, CD-SAO, CD-Raw, DVD-DAO
Media: Inserisci il supporto e aggiorna per mostrare le velocità di masterizzazione disponibili
Now, I purchased 50 not branded DVDs +R Dual Layer (like indicated by the features above) but every time I make a burning I get an error message on verifying ("....sector is unreadable").
    My supplier told me that
"It is normal that all DVD writers have problems with some DVDs, while
    others work perfectly".
So I don't know which DVD I can take..
Has anyone used successfully some kind? And which?
    Tnx

There is a web site that rates DVD media brands. Verbatim DL is what I use and never had trouble.

  • Which kind of DVD writeable discs for my P505D-S8935 Laptop? -R or +R?

Does it matter? I think the drive in my P505D-S8935 is a + and - R drive, so which type of media is best, if either? I have found the +R media slightly cheaper in cost than the -R. If both work, great.

+R discs are supposed to be slightly more compatible.
Try to avoid cheap no name brand discs, some times you get lucky and they work, but they are more prone to errors.

  • Which kind of DVI cable to use with a KVM switch?

Hi. I have a Power Macintosh G5 and three (3) Mac Minis. I also have a Apple Cinema Display (DVI). I recently purchased a Avocent 4 Port DVI/USB KVM switch. I just got it today. It looks like a nice switch. However, it did not come with any cables. So, I need to buy some USB cables and some DVI cables. Should I buy DVI-A, DVI-D, or "dual" DVI cables?
    Thanks in advance for help.

Unless you have a 30" ACD, which requires dual-link DVI, you want to buy DVI-D cables.

  • Which kind of quadratic curves does TrueType use? B-Spline or Bézier curve?

    Hello,
I'm writing a TrueType Font parser and I have already gotten the outline data with the GetGlyphOutline function. But now I am not sure which kind of quadratic curves TrueType uses, B-Spline or Bézier curve?
The TrueType specification says "Contours are composed of straight lines and curves. Curves are defined by a series of points that describe second order Bezier-splines. "
However when I search the Internet, I find some documents says it is B-Spline.

Could somebody please tell which kind of quadratic curves Truetype uses?
    Thanks in advance!
    dyyang

TrueType uses "Composite Bezier Curves" which are also called bezier splines or polybeziers, they are, as the spec says a second order (quadratic) curves.
The term "bezier spline" is confusing and should be avoided, some documents will use the name to mean regular bezier curves, while others mean composite bezier curves.
Among others, Postscript, PDF, SVG, OpenType fonts, etc.  use Composite Bezier curves also.
P.S.  cubic B splines is a synonym for C2 continuous composite
    cubic bezier curves.

  • Which kind of array to choose for combining several unsigned byte

Hi, I have several unsigned byte variables, and want to build them together as an array for future use in configuration saving. Could any one tell me which kind of array I should use? Or should I use "build array"?
    Solved!

I think you would be better off saving these items individually. It is a bit more work on the code side but it is much easier for a human to edit the file. Use a traditional ini file format such as:
    [Application]
    Station 1 = Enabled
    Station 2 = Disabled
    Logging = Enabled
    Stop on Error = Yes
This is much more readable for a person. I recommend this sice you are saying this is a configuration file. Generally these will be open for editing by a person.
If you go with some criptic array format such as
Parameter = Enable, Enable, Disable, Enable
You can write a subVI that will return cluster containing your configuration settings. You would also write a similiar subVI for saving the parameters. This VI would also accept the cluster as an input.
the user will have no clue what they are setting or modifying.
Here are some examples of VIs I use to handle configuration files.

  • What type of blank DVD should I use to record photo images that are on my drive E

I own a HP Pavilion dv5000 with an RW DVD + R DL multi recorder.  My question, which type of blank DVD should I use to record images that are on my drive E?  I can record without problems on a CR-R but when I try a blank DVD-R it won't work.  Please advise.

    Hi,
Back to the good old days, HP supported only DVD +R discs, some vendors supported DVD -R discs. Now all vendors support both. You may want to try blank DVD +R. Hope this works. Please post back the result.
    Regards.

In users manuals on page 29 I found info that you need active 3D glasses with part number FPT-AG03.
To be honest Im really wondering none of them was delivered with yor TV.
Anyway, use this part number and you can order 3D glasses separately.
Good luck and enjoy your 3D TV.

  • Which kind 3D format file can be used by LV

I will try to make a 3D model and display it in labview, then make it can turn and mark.
May I know which kind 3D format file can be used by LV, thanks.

I am not familiar with ASE, but can give you a little info on the other two file formats.
STL is a simple, triangle based, file format used by many pieces of software.  All the major CAD programs can export it.  Examples are AutoCAD and SolidWorks.  Due to its simplicity, it is probably the best supported.  It is also the most commonly used file type for 3D modelling (e.g. stereolithography, selective laser sintering, 3D printing).  You can get instructions on how to convert from a .skp to a .stl here.  I have not tried them so cannot vouch for their accuracy.
VRML format was invented for virtual reality simulations.  It has remained somewhat popular.
A net search on any of these formats should get you a lot more information.

  • I burned an edited movie to disc using H.264 codec and a second movie to MPEG -4 Video both worked well on my iMac but will not play on my Sony DVD Recorder/Player which accepts both DVD RW and DVD-RW.  Any suggestions?

I burned an edited movie to disc using H.264 codec and a second movie using MPEG-4 Video.  Both played well on my iMac but would not play on my Sony DVD Recorder/Player which accepts both DVD+RW and DVD-RW discs.  I have tried other 'codecs' DV-PAL; DVCPRO-PAL; DVCPRO50-PAL; AIC; and finally share to iDVD.  iDVD works on both my iMac and DVD Recorder but the picture is very poor with major shimmering which is unwatchable.  Can anyone assist? The other codecs I used either do not pay on my video recorder or fail when I play them back on my iMac.  I am at a loss as to what I can do.  I am from the UK so using PAL is essential.

If the source video is interlaced, you may have problems using iMovie. It de-interlaces everything on output which can cause picture to look strange.  Final Cut Pro X supports interlaced video, but it costs a lot more.
Standard DVD Players don't support H.264 or MPEG4.  You might want to look at this article on transferring HD video to DVD.  I wrote this article mainly for Final Cut Pro, but many of the same principles apply.
